I never wrote reviews before but Star Wars is one of my life's most loved story that i learned when i was a small child. Need to say that i love 4-6 chapters of the Lucas's saga shot in 77-82 of the 20th century more than 3 other screened in 2000's. I always wondered why nobody ever created vast open-world RPG based on Star Wars saga. It was a disappointment when i first launched SW Battlefront. Yeah, you can shoot and fly in some classical places of the theme but only multiplayer?! No story, no freedom, you can't feel yourself a part of the world. Just shooter... Battlefront 2 is the same. I was glad to hear that RPG action game is coming based on the story. And when i launched Fallen order - it was another disappointment. Yes, it has some pretty animation. Yes, it has a good fighting system. Yes it has good graphics. But everything else is awful. The story is simple and straight, and short. The world is small and non opened (although you may travel between maps after you discover them). You still can't travel between points inside each map (seriously? in 2019?! in rpg?!!). You have only one quest - main. No side quests. You can't shoot with a blaster (why?), you can't pick anything up, you can't fly or ride any transport. I think EA and Respawn really could do much better. There are a lot of examples like Witcher, Horizon zero dawn, ES5 Skyrim, Legend of Zelda and so on. Just use imagination. But not this time though. The game that ends in 20 hours of straight and far too predictable story telling/playing don't attract at all. I was really excited first 20-30 minutes. But then the play became dull and made me frustrated.

I will give 10 for animations - they are good.
10 for 3d models and fighting - i liked it.
7 for moving - its nice but sometimes you need to do obvious move like jump and catch the rope many times because "the jedi" can't catch it (??)... or you just fall down and die because the player don't see edges of the ground or whatever you stand on.
2 for the story - its simple, straight and short. No side quests.
2 for the world - 4 planets with different nature and sometimes nice exterior, but small, no fast travel and not open-world.
2 for limits - you can't use any transport in the game, no npc's to contact, no market, no loot, no armour, you can't change anything or use anything but the lightsaber and player's original clothing.
Music is classical and i won't score it.

One-time 'Tomb raider' kind of play just for checking the box. Regret the money paid.

-Graphics are bland even on the highest settings and the character models are generic with lack of polish ..(AAA production indeed lol ) Learn from HZD or GOW .Or death stranding .

This was a feeble attempt by EA to provide a single player game and that should be applauded .Nothing needed to be redefined from the force unleashed formulae that i had immense fun with .

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is overrated and was overhyped !

    - The story is totally linear without any choices
    - The combat is repetitive
    - Lightsaber fights are bad without any combat-mechanics
    - Lightsabers are like rubber baseball bats
    - Lightsabers can't cut off body parts

5/10 points from me and even the story alone can't save all these negative basic cores of the game.

What I really liked was the map design and I have seen some people complaining about it for not being intuitive. That's true, it can get very confusing especially in the beginning but you should get the hang of it with time and you really need to learn the maps to find your way around without much hassle but for me that's the point of a game. You need to learn the game and become better. I had so much fun going back to planets I already visited to discover new stuff/locations that were previously not accessible or that I didn't know of. Also the way all the different zones finally link together is very well designed.
I love the story and most of the characters. Some things could still be better in that area but overall it's very solid and it makes me look forward to potentially more Single-player Star Wars games. It is a neat addition that they add so much Star Wars lore into the game that true fans can recognize.
I have no experience in other third person combat games so I can't compare but personally I liked the mechanics. They can get a bit tricky at times but it's really been a nice experience personally. There's a steep learning curve to become really good at the game but that's exactly what I like and what many games nowadays are missing.
The World's look stunning but the graphics and the framerate on my standard PS4 can really get bad at times.
The lightsaber customization is very well done but there's still room for more. What i was missing was slightly more character customization.
Maybe some more force powers could have been implemented as other people were criticizing.
The way the game saves is probably the worst part of the game but you get the hang of it and for most parts complete the story trouble-free.
I give the game a solid 7, low 8 but I raised it to 9 due to many people ranting on it.
For it to be a 10 more things should be improved which we'll hopefully see in a new game in the not so distant future.

Now the pros. The characters were alright. Although Cere was kind of meh in some parts. Greez was typical comic relief. My favorite was Nightsister Merrin. Wish she played a more prominent role in the game. Biggest pro: the ending. 'Nuff said.

Second: The graphics were a little glitchy here and there, resulting in blurred landscapes or a character's clothes shaking or waving around during the cutscenes. It wasn't SUPER pervasive throughout the game; just happened a little too often to forget.

Apart from that? Honestly, it's a great game: Tough without being insurmountable (and you can adjust the difficulty to your liking), smooth controls, and diverse, beautiful landscapes. There's a nice, small, intimate cast of characters too- all original, save for one that appears at the end.

I loved Cal. He was a lovely character with great development over the course of the game, and I sincerely hope that if/when a sequel rolls around we get to see more of him and BD-1.

Parkour/platforming is fun and is probably considered average compared to the assassins creeds of the world. Exploration and hunting for chests/secrets is probably the best i've seen done in a game like this, its tons of fun finding lightsaber parts you really like scattered across the galaxy, and the secrets (which boost your health and maximum force) are very rewarding as they can make you much stronger in combat. Overall the combat was extremely balanced, and the game did a fantastic job of maintaining a consistent level of difficulty from start to finish, without feeling unfair or annoying in any way. The story is well above average and will definitely keep you playing for a while. Most of the characters are pretty well written, particularly Greez, and BD-1. (which is surprising considering he has almost literally no dialog ) While a couple of characters may feel a tad forced or artificial at times, those times are few and far between and are quite short. This game reminds me very much of games of the 7th gen, which, I think if you ask anyone is quite a good thing; it does not have any microtransactions and has a generally old school approach to progression and level design. Overall, if you're looking for a fun game, I would recommend it. If you're looking for a fun star wars game, it's a must buy. Expand

This is a good direction for the EA star wars gaming franchise. There's none of that BS micro-transaction and live/ online service in this game. The game is a single player experience, its a mix between uncharted, tomb raider, star wars force unleashed and crash bandicoot. The game does have its flaws however.
    Pros
    1. good combat 2. no microtransactions 3. lots of customization 4.

The fighting aspect was the real disappointment. Kinda halfway between a hack and slash and a precise fighting game it just kind of came out **** Can't figure out the parrying timing to savemy life and when i manage to do it i get knocked back while the opponent follows through with his attack yet somehow they seem to very easily block my attacks. And i don't understand for the life of me why it would take 4 hits with a LIGHTSABER to kill a godamn rat. If nothing else at least playing this game helps you understand how the Jedi were so easily decimated! Expand

Jedi Fallen Order graphics, game play, and sound are very solid. I feel like I am a Jedi in the star wars universe! Although the game is tough, it's rewarding as checkpoints are frequent, and once you figure out how to defeat your enemies, they become manageable.

This game is more uncharted than star wars, because 75% of the time you're doing puzzles or doing platforming sections. This game is a platformer, not an action adventure game. As a Star Wars story, I could live without it. Not bad but not great either.

As a videogame... let´s just say it´s not good (I´d like to say "terrible", but I understand this would infuriate some people). Replay factor = 0, combat sooooooo repetitive, and what I hate more than anything: the game asks for you to look for everything! You search for seeds, boxes, echoes even for paths.

Yes, its a single player game and yes, there are no micro-transactions, but the PS4 version is riddled with bugs, glitches, and clunky performance issues that detract from the experience significantly.

Maps for each planet are confusing and poorly laid out - so much of this game consists of backtracking, trying to understand where exactly you're located on a bewildering holomap system, and running through repetitive areas over and over. The majority of your time spent with Fallen Order will involve climbing walls, swinging from ropes, and sliding down long stretches of terrain with little control.

Rendering is dodgy and I fell through the map several times. Combat can be satisfying but is very demanding and requires precision, which is tough to do when the game's always dropping its framerate or bugging out. The characters themselves are decent enough and the story is fine, but Jedi Fallen Order seems to take the best elements from superior titles and mixes them together in an under cooked final product.

I can't help but feel that much of the positivity around this game has come from the sheer surprise that EA didn't give us something totally exploitative or awful. This isn't a terrible game, but it's by no means great. I was really excited to play through this one but have come out feeling underwhelmed and a bit gutted. Hopefully Respawn will patch up many of the stability issues in the future - the game sorely needs it.

Antagonist unfortunately lacked that feel of 'power' which for a Star Wars game should be a must. there was actually another NPC who seemed to fit the role better.
Enemies were good, slashing through an army of storm-troopers is always going to be great fun. Boss fights could of been better personally, they were challenging in places but they did not feel like boss fights apart from one which I will leave for the player to find out for themselves.

I find endings important to every single game that I play, if the ending is terrible then it makes the entire game feel like an epic fail. Fortunately this game did not disappoint, in-fact if you are a star wars fan then the entire game is worth playing just for the ending.

So a quick break down -

Protagonist - Decent, not the best not the worst.
Antagonist - Pretty boring after first introduction.
Story Start - Awesome start for the game.
Story Middle - Slightly Loses interest but not entirely
    Story End - Fantastic.
Environment - Beautiful and out of the box designs.
Mechanics - not too bad, May be a challenge for some players.
Enemies - Great enemies, some were pretty challenging.
Sounds - Come on its star wars...

One issue I encountered was a low frame-rate in places of the game, fortunately for me something like that does not bother me but I know it can be annoying for some of you other players so prepare yourself for that.

***AN HONEST REVIEW FROM AN EPIC STAR WARS FAN - 6.5 STARS OUT OF 10***

While the cut scenes, storyline, exploration and detail of the game exceed all expectations, I find myself very disappointed with the combat and gameplay. What made SWTOR the fastest-growing MMORPG in the world was its amazing gameplay. People of all ages could quickly pick-up the game and enjoy the wonder and magic that was Star Wars. I don’t find that the case with Fallen Order. In fact, I was taken aback when my 15-year-old son lost all interest in the game in just 2 or 3 days, after looking forward to this game for months! When I questioned him about it, he said, the game is all about parring, evading and jumping, as well as split-second counter attacks, and I couldn’t disagree.

While fighting small groups of 4-7 storm-troopers can be fun. I just found the whole premises of combat in this game - to be honest - just completely ridiculous. I don’t like the fact that I am forced to wait for an opponent to throw a punch at me before I can kill them (with a split-second counter attack or parry). As a result, there were moments where I was just literary standing still, face-to-face with about 2 or 3 storm-troopers (for about 5-10 seconds), just waiting for them to throw a punch at me; so I could kill them with a well-timed parry attack. Given most storm-troopers have an incredibly powerful blocking stamina, its completely illogical to try and kill them in any other way; given a well-timed parry can kill them with a single strike. Furthermore, until I actually mastered parrying (or acquired some more Force abilities, such as Force push and pull) I found myself asking, why doesn’t Cal have a blaster or a sniper rifle? His lightsabre is about as useful as a baseball bat in a Zombie apocalypse; no matter how many times you hit a storm-trooper, they just keep coming back for more. Furthermore, attacking also leaves Cal open to an attack… So, parrying is really your only option in Fallen Order.

I was also a bit annoyed by how effortlessly Cal could fall off a cliff in combat. It’s very easy for Cal to accidently stumble down a cliff, or accidently jump, parry and evade off a cliff, or worse when Cal is accidently clipped by an enemy or critter. Where, in the old Zelda games, whenever you accidently fell off, Link would latch on to the end and quickly pull himself up again. As a result, given how effortlessly Cal can die in this game, he doesn’t come across as a very heroic character to me. Where in SWTOR for example, as a Sith warrior or Jedi knight, you could quickly leap-frog over to an enemy with a powerful lightsabre attack, rip into them with a powerful Force combo, dash over to the next target with another combo, and repeat the process until everyone around you was dead. Fallen Order should be based on this fighting style, not the above…

Beyond the combat, the storyline of Fallen Order is exceptional. I don’t regret playing the game. However, I would have liked to play the game again, but given how frustrating I found the combat. I won’t be. I tried to play the game again on Jedi Master but found trying to parry a group of 8-10 plus storm-troopers just too hard, if not stressful. In situations like this, the game becomes nothing more than a mad scramble of evades and jumps, trying to find the tiniest window of opportunity to parry a storm-trooper, which is really impossible, given you might have 5 or 6 storm-troopers shooting at you, another 5 or 6 chasing you with electro-staffs, and yes, another 2 or 3 imperial security droids trying to kill you as well, and somehow in the middle of all this madness, you’re supposed to find the tiniest window of opportunity to parry someone when your jumping all over the place. And, every attempted parry, ends up with you getting hit by one of the other 10 plus storm-troopers you’re not trying to parry. So, once the game stopped being fun, I just switched it off.

Anyway, I hope this review has been helpful... I might check out the next Fallen Order if the combat controls are different. But, in the meantime, I’m going to get back into SWTOR. Cheers!

Not sure how this game has such a high review score. The controls are incredibly clunky and fighting is a laborious chore. When fighting multiple enemies it is almost impossible to not get hit due to the lengthy parry animation and much of the game is frustrating and tedious. Levels are unnecessarily long and convoluted to the point that finding your way back to the ship is a nightmare. INot sure how this game has such a high review score. When fighting multiple enemies it is almost impossible to not get hit due to the lengthy parry animation and much of the game is frustrating and tedious. Levels are unnecessarily long and convoluted to the point that finding your way back to the ship is a nightmare. I think the worst thing about this game is the reload times, oh my god the reload times, after you die it takes about a minute to reload the game, bizarrely if you fall off a ledge the game reloads you instantly to the last safe ground but even if you are right next to a save point and die to an enemy yep go make a cup of tea because you have time to kill. In its defence the graphics are very good and the atmosphere within the game is great, lots of cosmetic items to kit yourself out with and it has a very "star wars" feel but this is not even close to enough to save this from being mediocre. Many people have likened this to dark souls in terms of fighting and feel, dont be misled this is a very poor imitation of a very poor game. Don't waste your money Expand

My immediate impression when starting this game was how similar it was to the new Tomb Raider series. Many of the gameplay mechanics are copied, whether it’s climbing on rocks (it seems like > 10 percent of the game is spent doing this), squeezing through tight gaps, solving puzzles in ancient sites, conveniently sliding down some kind of nature ramp, swinging on ropes, and platforming across the landscape. This kind of gameplay is kind of fun at first, but gets boring quickly and kills the immersion. For example, why the **** do all these planets have nature slides? Oh, here comes another rock-climbing part. Great. **** this! I want to do Jedi stuff.

The lightsaber combat is satisfying and challenging. You get to one-hit generic stormtroopers as well as duel advanced STs who wield a variety of electric batons. Also, slicing through an imperial R2 unit and seeing the still-glowing shear of its dome fall to the ground really hits the spot. The boss fights are OK, but nothing special. However, the final boss fight is one of the greatest parts in the game, so if you’re struggling to finish due to boredom, keep on it.

I have no complaints about the story. It’s not KOTOR quality, but it will satisfy Star Wars fans. The adventures are meaningful and make sense. The voice acting was good, and the actor’s likenesses were used when possible, which was interesting, but also broke the immersion a bit. Overall I give this game a B.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is tedious much too overrated and exhausting to play... I will tell you why: Firstly, the storytelling and cutscenes etc. is really nice, it reminds me of typical star wars games the atmosphere is ok etc... BUT: at least with mouse and keyboard its about unplayable.. first there are only decent savepoints, and you have only small amounts of stim packs (healing), every time you fail you have to restart from 15 minutes ago, secondly, the movings and animations are annoying, sometimes, your jedi character moves as lazy as a 20ton truck, I don't know why, but some movements when pressing evade or parrying are just not recognised or coming too late. Its just so frustrating. Then, there is unnecessarey respawn of enemies each time you take a rest. Then, the game just does not tell you anything about game mechanics... once I came to a savepoint and I thought there is autosave, nobody told me I had to interact with the save point (aka mediation point) to save the game at this point! I thought it was not necessary coz I had enough health, but the next time I died, I started at the first savepoint at the beginning of the game earlier... its just soo annoying. You really see that people at lucasarts obviously had no intensions to fine-tune this game and test it till the end. You sometimes get the impression you are a stupid betatester. With a story and gameplay beginning that starts off bombastic and interesting it quickly simmer’s down that as you’re getting familiar to the clunky controls and uninspired speck of enemies. Every platform jump is shaky at best with plenty of instances where sudden loss of control of your character happens. Luckily enough you just get put back into place with a sliver of health lost and can get back into it quickly - just to try the goddamn ice-slide again to randomly sway away from the point you’re trying to get to... The combat and controls in battle are yet again clunky, unintuitive and sometimes down right stupid. You’ll be having multiple targets attacking you at once trying to parry something just to have the game completely disregard the parry command and depleting your stamina meter faster than you’ll see a hidden blaster shoot you in the back. It’s like Sekiro had a fat, westerner uncle that wanted to join in on the fun but didn’t take the time to learn anything before hand. Dodging is... Dodgy at times with a tiny side step or awkward roll that’s not fast enough to recover before most opponents starts whacking you with **** again. Force skills are weird and uses way too much of your meter for the usage coupled with annoying applications. If I were to slow most opponents in the game and try to move into a advantageous position behind the enemy they literally spin around with you in the same speed and sometimes in their attacking animation just slowing down the inevitable. Animations are janky and very unpolished, take the running animation that spazzes out constantly together with plenty of instances where it almost looked like I started T-posing because I got stuck in random terrain.

In all fairness it is a game, a game that tries its best with what it’s got. I’m just feeling that there either wasn’t enough time, budget or back up from EA to help make this the amazing title it could’ve been. A Star Wars hotpot dish with a few ingredients that just didn’t match the picture on the menu!

I was really between 7 and 8 when I wanted to score this game. But I feel it deserves a 7 at the end of the day, I like that they is 5 playable planets but the map design is questionable at least. As others said, there are sections closed off depending on your abilities, but the worst part is that when u come back with the said ability u still have to start the level almost from the beginning, the game does offer u shortcuts but it is not near enough for this. The save points are very infrequent, when there is a platforming section there are save points way too often I think, but when u are fighting multiple waves of enemies there is barely any.
My biggest gripe are the bossfights, I think it is extremely unbalanced, I like a bit of a challenge so I went with the Jedi Knight difficulty, it worked alright most of the time, but there I found myself hitting the air so many times or stuck in some combo way too many times. I do understand that this may appeal for Dark Souls fans but not for me, also the last 2 major bosses I had to turn the difficulty down to beat them, and weirdly I managed to beat them straight away without using any stimpacks, I think the difficulty is way too imbalanced. Overall, the story is not bad, it has major pacing issues but I appreciate the different characters and the story remained canon. Wielding a lightsaber apart from those bossfights seemed good. If it is on sale (£40 or less) it is worth it, I hope that from here Star Wars games only going up in quality.

The game draws players into a dark episode of the Star Wars timeline. You play as Cal Kestis, a fugitive is thrust from a life of seclusion into a galaxy-wide quest.

The story and characters are very believable within the context of the Star Wars galaxy. The cutscenes make it a truly cinematic experience.

The controls are simple and intuitive, with movement and 3D platforming that will feel familiar. The Force adds a unique element here that gives more options for moving around.

There is plenty of room for exploration and time to explore the new mechanics that the game gradually introduces.

A well-made holomap makes sure you don't spend hours getting lost or running around without purpose.

The different worlds you go to are all beautifully crafted and the NPC's inhabiting them make them come more alive.

The game isn't just about hacking and slashing. Apart from the 3D-platforming, there are some interesting puzzles to solve where once again The Force is your greatest ally.

The combat is fluid, cinematic and exciting, with plenty of different enemy types and tactics to use.

There's definitely a challenge to be found here, but the game can be enjoyed casually too.

The story grabs your attention right unto the end, where it has a somewhat mediocre conclusion, but not a game-ruining one.

The side characters are all very interesting, but sadly don't get explored in much detail.

Some optimization issues may arise but these can be solved by following the steps in some simple Youtube guides.

The rewards for exploration could be a little better. They're worthwhile looking for but not really for going back to, meaning it doesn't help with the replay value.

Cal unlocks a nice amount of cool moves, but there's no real choices or customization of your character when it comes to how you level him up.

All in all this game is very enjoyable and will leave you eager for a DLC or a sequel, which, depending on how they expand on what they already have in place, could be Game Of The Year material.

I've lost count how often I've died because I simply missed the rope when jumping. Having save points so far apart then creates issues where you are faced with lengthy sections of countless mobs to fight, and if you lose you're back at the very start of the section. Even worse, if you go back to a save point to replenish health and 'health stims' then you will trigger a respawn of all the mobs. The story has some fantastic set pieces - the AT-AT on Kashyyyk - but most of the game is repetitive and going back and forth to the same planets constantly.
All in all I'm enjoying it, in between becoming incredibly frustrated with it.

Star Wars the fallen order is (and is painful to admit) a brilliant game Backed by EA. I didn’t hold out much hope for this game but tried to stay positive due to its vast material and overall love for said universe and characters.

Respawn has done the universe proud by creating this gem of a game, the combat flows and the story is interesting and immersive. Characters are detailed and have complex back stories and some fan favourites make a few cameos here and there.

Not to say the game is perfect however... Fallen order is plagued with over the top platforming and on occasions very repetitive enemy groups, the meditation mechanic where interesting and intuitive let’s all KIA Mobs respawn back in the world from where they fell, although not an uncommon mechanic it can at times put a drag on your gameplay as enemies don’t patrol or move from place to place but stand motionless in designated spots.

In support though the meditation system makes for a canon friendly way of healing. The skill tree is well laid out and gives you a broad selection of skills to unlock and combine the further you delve into the game, through this you start to feel more powerful as Kal begins to reconnect to the force and in turn becomes more potent force skill wise.

Moving away from game mechanics - The overall story of a Jedi Padawan on the run is told beautifully through flash backs and in game cutscenes and overall gameplay. At times this can feel like just a hack and slash but overall story telling is near perfect in Respawns iteration into the star wars universe, my only gripe is how short the story is, and how character interaction outside cutscenes seems stagnant and pre done so to speak. If this were done on a ME Trilogy level of dialogue choice I’m sure this would make the overall story and feel perfect without flaws, we may see this in the second iteration but at this point who knows.

Moving on to customisation, the game boasts a wide variety of unlocks for Kal, the mantis, BD1 and of course your lightsaber! On the surface this seems to be an extensive library of cosmetics of which you could use to make your Kal... YOUR Kal, however most of these cosmetics bar lightsaber parts lack a certain flair, ponchos for Kal are mainly just slightly different colours of the same look bar about three, BD1s skins again are just slight colour variations with nothing to unique, and this also applies to the Mantis...

Lightsaber parts and later crystals really add your own personal touch to the Jedis weapon of choice, but sadly when it comes to other cosmetics it seems respawn just threw a few shades together and hoped for the best in this situation. Not to say this ruins the game... but more cosmetic unlocks would certainly add to player immersion in my opinion.

And finally enemies and bosses - Enemy types in Fallen Order are a plenty, from your common storm trooper to hulking ATSTs etc. Each has its own library card and backstory to tie you into the lore, this adds for great reading and overall feel to the universe when you can read into a certain enemy you may never have heard before, for instance I enjoyed the lore behind the purge troopers and in turn decided to look into them more outside of the game.

Bosses are there but at the same time not, you have your encounters with the inquisitors on multiple occasions but only two are sadly present in this game. Mini bosses such as purge troopers are a plenty but what added a certain challenge to the game on its highest difficulty were the hidden creatures scattered around the universe, these five or so beasts were named variants of creatures you’ve faced hundreds of times over, and although looking the same they boasted unique attack patterns and of course extra XP!

    In conclusion...

StarWars Fallen Order is a Stella game with a story driven narrative and a brilliant line of characters and enemies. The combat although can feel clunky at first can flow majestically once you learn how to parry and attack back. And overall game mechanics are nearly but not quite perfect, the meditation/Checkpoint system needs a little fine tuning and character dialogue certainly needs improving to add just that unique in the game feel, this goes for cosmetics also, where there may be many, most lack a unique feel. This is not to say some aren’t, but overall a bit more effort in character costumes would have pushed the envelope just a bit more! Lightsaber customisation brought me back to the Old Star Wars pc RPGs however, this was a gem in the rough and made the lack of costumes worth it... so finally I wholeheartedly recommend this game to any starwars fan and non.

One of the best games i’ve played and i’ve played lots and lots of games in my life. The only downside is that it only takes like 20 h to finish the game. The game is pretty hard and the controls can be difficult in the beginning. I love a challenge and when you learn the controls the lightsaber fights feels like carving butter. This isn’t a lego game, it’s supposed to be hard.

Nice game. Playing as a jedi stays cool, no matter what.

Story-wise. It is good that the game does not tap into existing storylines too much and delivers something original. Gameplay-wise.
The acrobatics are okay, especially the wall-running and force pulling ropes in mid-air are nice. Though the sliding kind of gets old in the end.
The fighting is a bit clunky, similar hack n slash games such as GOW delivered a much better experience here. There is something about the parry and evade that just doesn't work very well. You can be hit during evade, which is annoying because the parry takes up stamina. Also, the fact that you have to move the camera perspective in fights, doesn't help. There is a lock-on target, but that is annoying too sometimes, because you might lock on to one enemy, having another one behind you. And the game forces you to use this lock-on, because hitting enemies without is hard. All this makes it hard to excel at the combat - I think.
The character customisation is nice, although rather limited, some more variation would have been nice. The force powers are rather limited, so prepare for a more lightsaber-oriented game.

Overall, graphics aside, people have made better star wars games in this genre over ten years ago (Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast).

PS: A cool original plus, the music by The Hu in this game.

Star Wars game inspired by Dark Souls and Tomb Raider. Great game with very rewarding combat and good story. Your lightsaber feels dangerous and deadly, with skillfully executed attacks and parrying you can obliterate your enemies with minimal damage. There are sadly some technical issues and bugs, but nothing gamebreaking! FYI this game is not as difficult as Dark Souls, so don't worry!

The game is fun, yes it is but it feels like an unfinished product that should have been delayed for further polishing. If only they did that. If only they stabilised everything before releasing it. The experience would have been a lot more smoother and less frustrating.

The world traversal experience for me was a total nightmare. Sliding down the icy slopes was broken to the core. It slides too fast leaving you not enough control to maneuver Cal just in time for the turn and he'd fell off a whole lot of time. The combat is very inconsistent with some of the most random attack coming from the enemies. Some happen way too fast which leave you no time whatsoever to anticipate and counter back.

The deflecting mechanism is outright appalling. It's really bad. Sometimes it works and you get an idea of how to make it work but when you'll face a boss, it stops working like you thought you understood it. Just because you're a boss doesn't mean I don't get to deflect your attack. Even the blocking mechanism is horrible. Blocking an enemy drains your stamina far too quickly leaving you no time to hit back. The animations of the game feel rough and lack fluidity. At times, it feels extremely heavy to move Cal around in combat.

Besides that, it can be a fun game at times when everything is working like you think it should be working, like the game trained you. It's a very well written game that makes you genuinely care about its characters and plot. The characters are interesting and feel very real. The game would have been a masterpiece it they took the time to stabilise everything but hey, it's the first time Respawn Entertainment is handling such a project. Also, gotta give some credit to EA for not infesting the game with micro-transanctions. Fallen Order is okay.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.

Respawn has shown us, and EA, that single player games are well enough alive and kicking and has set a bright future for the Star Wars franchise of videogames if they keep this up.
