The gameplay loop is fun, satisfying, and expertly paced. Never once did I have to stop and grind, and enemies rose in difficulty very equivalent to both my skill as a player and my unlocked abilities. Some polish quirks here and there (My game crashed less than a handful of times), and a little on the short side (Skilled players can easily complete this in a day), but overall fantastic ground work for a future series of Star Wars games. Somehow good, but so glitchy and unfriendly to player, I am not talking about difficulty, the bugs and level design is so much worse than Uncharted. Some gameplay moments are almost impossible to walkthrough.

I thought aside from the terribly dodgy character graphics and animation, there were a couple of great characters, most notably my new favourite droid BD-1 who I felt the most connection with out of all of the characters in the game. I will say there was one character who was introduced fully later on in the game and I am so gutted she wasn’t used more. The villain, the Second Sister was incredible and had such an incredible back story, I loved everything about her, she was one of the characters I thought looked the best and was written the best out of them all.

Herein lies the game’s biggest strength, and its biggest draw, the story. The narrative of the game was very interesting and engaging and is what saved this game from being a complete disaster in my eyes. Learning more about the time between the main films is so exciting for me and I love being introduced to a new crew, some new villains, but also some familiar faces, it is so rewarding.

Although there is a lot of good things to be said about Jedi: Fallen Order, there is a lot that could have been improved on and I can’t help but think that if they had just left it for a few more months or even a year this could have been one of the best Star Wars games we have seen. However, even the stunning environments, fun lightsaber action and incredible narrative couldn’t mask the jarring character graphics, glitches and heavy-handed cinematic moments of gameplay.

This is because I wanted to explore the worlds in detail. I wanted to marvel at the different planets, fight against the Empire and feel like a Jedi. Jedi: Fallen Order has accomplished this for me. Each planet is quite large and enjoyable to explore. On the hardest difficulty, fights are tense and rewarding. The story is well told and while it is overall predictable, I felt it was well-developed and interesting. Every planet I visited, I often stopped to marvel at beautiful vistas hoping I could explore the far off artwork. To my surprise and satisfaction, you almost always could. Each combat scenario is a challenge and even the basic enemies can kill you. Larger encounters force you to strategise and carefully employ your variety of abilities. Boss and mini-boss encounters are exciting and the right mix of mechanically varied and cinematic. The platforming and exploration in the game is satisfying as well. You get new abilities to assist your exploration. In turn, you are also rewarded for exploration with hidden goodies and experience. I have read criticisms that exploration does not reward you enough. If your expectations are tempered, I do not think this will be a problem. To that end, you are rewarded with experience through greater combat encounters. You are also rewarded with health, force and droid ability upgrades. While the majority of other exploration rewards are cosmetic items, I found exploration enjoyable. I explored for the sake of experiencing the well-designed levels, seeing more beautiful environments and hunting down challenging combat encounters. I did experience some low-level frustrations. I was playing on a PS4 Pro and evening with the updates, load times were long. These were about 30 seconds per death, and I died often on the hardest starting difficulty. Texture pop-in was widespread and enemies often would load in late. Frame rate also dipped when loading new areas. I stress these were all minor inconveniences that did not deeply impact my enjoyment of the game. This game is excellent and I am greatly anticipating the next instalment. If you like Star Wars, challenging combat and exploration, I am very comfortable recommending this game. Just know that loot is mostly cosmetic and there are some minor technical issues. For me, it was a 9.5/10 and my game of the year so far (though I have a lot to catch up on). Expand

But despite this, you cant ignore the fluid combat, great writting with good performaces from the voice actors that elevate the story to what the devs wanted and incredible customization that left me on the create a lightsaber screen for minutes on end. Jump doesn't work, evade doesn't work, block doesn't work. Attack, meh... Hugely disappointing in a retro is the past, move forward kind of way. The collision detection is akin to 80's games. This is the same for the average look of the game too. Loading times also feel retro, appalling in fact. Story ok though, but that's only because I am a huge star wars fan. I've put over 8 hours into it, not finished yet, but I've explored more than 3 planets, and hit some awesome story beats. There are some minor bugs in the background environment, nothing that causes any issue with gameplay. And other than that, it is just amazing! It's beautiful, it's fun, and I can't wait to play more! And again on a more difficult setting.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had high hopes but it just didn’t stick the landing. I get lots of people will love this game and that’s okay I’m not here to hate on you for loving the game, just to give my opinion on it. The Story. I feel the story of this game isn’t all that great. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. It’s just decent. The problem I have is just the base idea “rebuilding the Jedi Order” this is probably the most generic Star Wars story that you can make. When I heard this game was going to be about a Jedi Padawan after Order 66 I was so excited. I thought we were just going to get a game with you playing as a young Jedi right after Order 66 on the run from the newly instated empire. Having to learn the ways of the force by yourself with nothing but your Masters training. Just that would have been great. We didn’t need a “Rebuilding the entire Jedi order, while on the run, and while being hunted by the empire. It’s just too much. I also don’t get the point in the whole Rebuilding the order if we already know it isn’t going to happen. This was just a bad choice in my opinion. Our Protagonist.
The actor playing Cal seems to be doing his best with the script he’s been given but for me he still falls flat. The character is generic and bland. “Blah blah blah light side or dark side blah blah blah Jedi order blah blah blah I’ll be a good guy.” The best characters in this game are the side characters which isn’t a bad thing but Cal is just so absolutely boring for me. You can tell what decisions he’ll make nothing ever surprises me with what he does. It also doesn’t help the Cal just doesn’t look, sound, or act like a badass Jedi. He just looks goofy to me and I know some people agree. Lastly the Customization.
The customization overall in this game is complete garbage. Yes the Lightsaber customization is really good. You really get to make it feel like your own, but that’s it. That’s all the customization. All that’s left is new poncho and outfit colors. Really? Colors? You couldn’t be bothered to make at least one more outfit? When I found out about this I was baffled. I couldn’t believe that they released a game with one single outfit. The best thing about the Force Unleashed games was the outfit customization! You could look like anyone you could look good or evil, Jedi robes, or a Sith monster. It was incredible. I get this game you are 100% a “good guy” which is okay, but we couldn’t get any Jedi robes? Or just a new jacket? It’s pitiful that this is what we got for all the customization. Guess what you get for completely the game on the hardest difficulty? You get nothing. No colors. No outfits, No lightsaber. Nothing. That is absolutely shameful. There is no point in beating the game on the hardest difficulty. All you get is a trophy...

I do have one good thing to say. The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are pretty amazing. It can be a little janky at times but wielding your lightsaber just makes you feel powerful and untouchable which is how it’s supposed to feel. This game just disappointing. For me it misses all the marks. There’s a great game hiding in this one somewhere but it just feels like it’ll never see the light of day. I’m glad people actually like it I’m happy it isn’t a train wreck. Thanks for reading I appreciate it.

Everything works: the souls-like vibe, the jedi combat, the GIGANTIC maps filled with little secrets to explore and shortcuts to discover. The hero is likable, as well as the other characters - the little droid bd is a super cool companion (and an extremely helpful one). This is a SOLID game, no question about it.

All that being said, there are some baffling issues that I cannot believe were not addressed, during the development. The main one, for me, is the lack of a fast travel option betweeen meditation spots. That makes returning to your ship a MAJOR CHORE, when you are barely making through maps that are complete vertical labyrinths. Additionally, there are some hiccups and stuttering and frame drops that don't hurt the experience but cannot be unnoticed.

The game is awesome, there are breathtaking sequences that remind me of games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider - as well as God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. Finally EA did something good. FINALLY.

The quicker you understand the map the less treading over the same ground is necessary. You need to fully explore every inch of this game to get the most out of it, and the upgrades. This a average/good game, it has exploration but it focuses on it a little too much as you explore more than you fight and you are supposed to being chased by the empire. The combat feels really great but only if you play it on Jedi Knight or above, otherwise it is too easy. The Jedi abilities are too simple and you don't even use some because you can win everything only with combat skillsThis a average/good game, it has exploration but it focuses on it a little too much as you explore more than you fight and you are supposed to being chased by the empire. The combat feels really great but only if you play it on Jedi Knight or above, otherwise it is too easy. The Jedi abilities are too simple and you don't even use some because you can win everything only with combat skills and basic force power. But when you have all the skills and you use them, it makes you feel like you are an awesome Jedi.
The planets you visit are very simple and empty, there are structures for exploration like in tomb raider and enemies just enough to unlock skills.
The story is the weak in my opinion, there is only a one moment of excitement and is at the end and also that moment is a wasted opportunity to have an amazing combat. And the ending is extremely lame. There is not a single dramatic moment that can make you feel worried for the characters.
There is one part where x character says it will help you in your journey but does nothing and there are parts where you would expect the main character to say anything or have a reaction and is dead silence.
There are only like 2 or 3 "boss" battles and is a wasted opportunity because their names imply that there are many of them.
The characters that help you on your journey don't do a single thing apart from tellling you where you should go and take you there.
And the game presents many frame drops even during exploration parts where there is no fight, which is weird becasue during combat I didn't notices frame drop.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, specially the combat mechanics, it's a good/average game. It does well what it does but thats all, it doesn't take risks, it uses the Tomb raider formula with a simplified Sekiro's combat. So don't expect a Star Wars game with explotions, high emotions and overwelming excitemen. This was to me a try it once and move to another game, so my suggestion is to wait for a price drop before you buy it.
I really hope they can do much for the next installment (if there is ever one) because this game is well done and Respawn is an awesome game developer company

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game on Saturday and am close to having the Platinum now. It has been a while since I played a really enjoyable Star Wars game and with EAs Track Record, I was very apprehensive of getting this one. While there are some flaws in the game, it is overall super enjoyable. Now let's go into some positive parts of the game:

    - All fights feel good and while most aren't very hard, all story critical fights were decently hard
    - Fighting Trilla felt like the endboss fight, that it should feel like
    - Darth Vader showing up after the endboss fight and seeing how utterly weak you are compared to him, felt right
    - The story was good, but ended in the way I thought it would
    - Finding all the lore all around the world was nice
    - No microtransactions
    - Lots of Lightsaber cosmetics to make your lightsaber feel like yours

    Now for the negative points:

    - Default generic male protagonist - having a custom character creator would have been nice
    - Sliding is the most annoying part in the game. It controls weird
    - Bugs, especially when jumping to another platform and then glitching through the world and falling to your death is really annoying
    - Only Ponchos that look pretty weird, some more cosmetic customizables would have been nice

All in all, this still is a really good, and while it is not perfect it is definitely a step in the right direction. If you enjoy Action RPGs and Star Wars, I believe you'll enjoy this game

    pros:

the game is just beautiful and everything just looks to real even the small things

the map is very helpful and you can find your way around easily thanks to it

the combat is really good and the fact that you can use your force powers in it just adds more depth to it

the parkour which is obviously inspired by the uncharted series is a very cool addition to the game and adds more platforming to the mix which is always welcome

the sound in this game is on point and really gets you the feeling like you are again visiting the star wars universe also the light saber sound and all the blasters are top notch

the fact that you travel to other planets and you can discover and find all sorts of collectibles in each planet is just so cool oh and every planet has cool puzzles you can solve

    cons:

the controls are super clunky to the point of things looking super goofy at certain times

the story felt short and made no sense at the end also it was really predictable and a lot of missed opportunities that could made the story so much better

customization is pretty lame and adds nothing to the game

performance issues such as fps drops and bugs

barely any character i could relate to

a personal con in my opinion that could make the game even better is the fact that they didn't give you the opportunity to learn dark side powers and let you choose which path you want to take

in conclusion this game is a good one ill give it that plus its respawns first third person adventure game so ill give em some slack there are some missteps here and there but overall this is a solid game which brings me to the final score and its a 8 out of 10

    2) I like playing video games for their stories, that also have fluid and intuitive game mechanics.

    I give this game a 6/10.

    The good:
The story telling and graphics are great, although the graphics can get choppy at times.

    The bad:
The game controls and map design.

The game controls are not great. I find myself constantly frustrated with where my character jumps/walks, and where I intended them to jump/walk. In terms of fighting, I felt like the developers tried making the fighting mechanics like in the God of War game, but FAILED. Since the lightsaber is your only weapon (like the axe or chains in GoW), the feel of your weapon in the fights should feel fluid, but they don't. Your constantly finding yourself swinging at the air only to be sideswipped by some spitting spider or some other creature.

I also do not like how the game locks you out of certain areas of the map based on your abilities, it is not intuitive to the game player. In the game you have to learn new abilities (i.e. wall jump, use force push/pull, etc) to enter areas. I found myself extremely frustrated trying to access areas that I could see, only to find out that I couldn't push down a bridge somewhere totally else on the map because I didn't learn the force push yet.

Also I do not know of any other games with this type of 3D map layout, but it is confusing and not very well designed. However I'm guessing the developers designed it the way they did because the maps are all multi-verticle with several stories on each map? IDK but I also found it not to be very intuitive.

We need more games like this, the best part is where Vader appears!

Most important factor of this game is the combat and the save system, this game copies those of the dark souls franchise and it works out very well. Most satisfying is the parry, it gets you on your toes and if you miss it you don't lose a lot like in dark souls. And it has interesting characters best example is BD-1.

But there are 3 major negative points (hence the 7 score) which makes this game fall short of being the SW singleplayer game I always wished for. First, the load time on the PS4 version I played is horrendous. It takes at least 30 seconds to reload from any last checkpoint; unbearable for a game where you will die alot. Second, there are no space battles in the game. What is Star Wars without space battles? And third, the customization is lackluster and as basic as it gets. There is nothing remarkable about the ponchos or the lightsaber options. It would have been nice if they had each lightsaber part have a unique perk. And another minor gripe is that the platforming and combat with creatures is a bit too much for a SW game. But, it was a still a fun game to play over my holiday break. Expand

It's actually similar to God Of War 4 in many gameplay mechanics - just not as good. The skill system is nice but could be much more expanded. The biggest downside is probably that it takes only ~20 hours to beat (if you do some extras). I'd give it 8 if it been 10 hours longer.

    Pros:
    Combat is good
Puzzles are decent and change the environment in meaningful ways
    Lightsaber customization is good
Abilities are useful Characters are memorable and believable (BD-1 is a champion)
I actually remember all of the characters names, only happens when characters/story is good
    Lightsaber combat is visually appealing
    Music is great
Sounds effects are solid, especially lightsaber sound effects
Decent exploration No fast travel, made the world feel bigger Ability tree was good and serviceable, more customizability or specialization would have been nice there Cons:
Combat is a bit clunky, never understood the difference between single and double bladed combat Combat abilities were sluggish/not as responsive as I would have liked
Some performance issues on Xbox, I doubt that would be the case on PC
EA touched this game... even though it doesn't show

Star Wars games made by EA have become somewhat of a joke at this point, only becoming memes of corporate greed rather than bringing anything new to the table in terms of gameplay. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order changes that.

Entrusting another studio with the franchise and solely focusing on a story driven singleplayer campaign is just what was needed. Fallen Order doesn't just succeed in making a "acceptable" game, this is one of, if not the best Star Wars games out there at the moment.

I'll start with the best thing about this game. The feeling of being a true Jedi. Sure, when you start off as Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan in exile from the Imperial forces, your force and lightsaber abilities are very limited. You can block, attack and dodge. That's it. But as you progress through the game, upgrading and customizing your lightsaber, as well as healing and deepening your connection to the force, you gradually fight your way from a lost padawan to a wise and strong Jedi Knight. One gripe with it however is the difficulty. Sure, many people love challenging games, and while this is challenging in a good way, it sometimes take away from the feeling of being a true Jedi. For example dying against some powerful fauna instead of a noble fight against a dark side user. Wanting a challenging difficulty comes with some immersion-breaking costs. One of the few games I actually recommend playing on a lower difficulty for immersion purposes.

Onto the next strong point, the story. The story and characters are well written and intriguing, with satisfying story arcs and some great dialogue between them. I won't spoil anything, but I will say the ending is a fantastic and satisfying conclusion to the story, with lots of easter eggs and familiar things for fans of Star Wars.

Now for a couple of negative things. Even though I overall loved this game, there are some things to consider here before buying. Firstly, if you play on a standard PS4 like me, prepare for long load times and frame drops. Sometimes the game will freeze just to load in a new area in the middle of gameplay, which can be annoying. When loading saves, the game will sometimes have unloaded textures when you enter, which soon load however.

One more issue I personally have is the saving system. While I like the healing system of meditation spots which also respawns enemies, having these be the only saving points is very annoying. Games like these seem to forget the playing might a have a personal life that requires abruptly taking a break from the game. Instead, to keep progress you need to find a meditation spot. Thankfully however, there are many spread across a level, so it's not as big of an issue as it could be. Still it's a bad decision from the developers.

Overall though, if you're a Star Wars fan: GET THIS GAME. You will not regret it. Even casual fans will find much enjoyment.

Pros: Intricate characters, wonderful worldbuilding and environments, challenging yet very rewarding lightsaber and force combat.

Cons: Performance issues on PS4 Standard, inability to save where you chose.

The characters are alright, the graphics are good...music is good...nice set pieces....but I actually saw some puzzles ripped off directly from the 2013 Tomb Raider (a couple while in a tomb).

WAY too much backtracking/navigating, as well. A good 3-4 hours could be spent saying "Am I going the right way" or "where in the hell is the freaking ship"?

It's good..it's fine..it ties in the story between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope (some more). and the 2nd half is WAY better than the first half, but again..go play Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted 4 if you want a much better OVERALL experience.

I love the gameplay and the story I give it a 9.5 out of 10 the various environments are beautiful and the difficulty is just right as it gives you a challenge until you get the groove of things THE ONLY THING that drags it down is the ending. The running from Vader was epic but the ending scene when Cal destroyed the holocron made me feel like everything the game lead up to was for nothing I understand what they were going for but that's just me. It left room for a sequel so that's good and I really hope it happens because this game was excellent Expand

I really loved this game. Personally, for me this game was a combination of a few games I really enjoyed. Starting the story, action, puzzles and the feeling of being a Jedi. Not too OP nor too weak.

To that end, this game is an excellent installment in Star Wars gaming and truly delivers in making you feel like a Jedi. It’s fun and engaging. The story is solid, and we get somewhat of a true look into the outcomes of order 66. The character relationships occasionally feel somewhat forced. It’s hard to argue that for a game that clearly sets out to create an experience to make you feel like a Jedi in a universe at war, they nailed it. There are, however, some issues with the game that lower its overall potential. 1. In a game encourages exploration it is a pretty substantial oversight not to have any form of fast travel or a mini map. This leads to a lot of backtracking and constant reopening of your map (which does not pause the action meaning you can get attacked while trying to figure out what is a pretty convoluted map system) 2. There were notable moments where I missed ledge grabs, jumps, vines, etc. which I expected would have been successful. These traversal elements get easier once you unlock later force powers but it does seem like this portion of the engine needed a little bit longer in the oven in order to really get to the caliber gamers have come to expect (such as in assassins creed). Another example was a clear oversight of being able to get back down onto a ledge that you had been able to climb up from. 3. The loading time. Woof. I can admit I died on more than one occasion and in certain specific areas more than more than one occasion and having to wait a minute and a half or two minutes to just load a respawn breaks the emersion. 4. The amount of slides were straight overkill. Cal does not have the controllability to manage slides, and that’s ok as long as there aren’t 50 freakin slides in the game - but there are. All in all however, I had a great time with this game. I hope they do more to expand on it - either through DLC or a sequel. I was left wanting more not in that it was lacking but in the way you want more of something you enjoy. Expand

Some interesting side characters. Some cool boss fights.

So-So: Serviceable story, but taken down a notch by an mostly uninteresting protaganist. Gameplay loop of fighting enemies, traversal, and exploration gets annoying half way through the game. It takes inspiration from uncharted and dark souls. But this game doen't have the personality to match uncharted. It's also not as challenging and rewarding as boss fights in the souls series. It's a valiant effort, but this game doesn't add anything to the games it takes inspiration from.

Cons: To me exploration was tedious, 90% of exploration leads to some decent lore, but it also leads to god awful customization options. Only 10% lead to gameplay improvements like increased hp and force. I wished I didnt explored as much as I did.
The map design was also awful. You don't know what leads to where. Good luck running from the end of the map back to your ship.

To end, good combat and ok story. I'm not a star wars fan but if I was I'll probably be enoying this game more. Gameplay loop that can get annoying with uninteresting exploration and bad map design. The graphics are imo subpar, and there are long loading times, and some technical hiccups.
People who would enjoy this are who want more of the same uncharted/tomb raider with some light dark souls element. Fight. Traverse. Story. This game in a nutshell.

It's like uncharted, tomb raider and rachet & clank had a baby. Some much stuff taken from these games and feels very familiar. The environment tries so hard to make the life of cal easy. The graphic color pallete is taken from 2015. The light system tries to make things right at some point. Combat its easy and exploration is a joke and not worth it.

The story here is amazing, you play as Cal who is a former Jedi Padawan that survived Order 66. He now works scrapping for the empire but when he is forced to use his powers to save a friend he goes on a journey to find a holocron which has every jedi name on it with a small group on the ship called the Mantis. You feel invested throughout the entire 15 hour story and thankfully there really isn't any filler missions to pad out the game which earns some praise. The new characters into the lore as well are amazing especially a former jedi named Cere, she is complicated and conflicted, this makes her very relatable. Also the villain of the game, the second sister is also very interesting and isn't an one dimensional villain who may or may not be relatable to a crew member. I won't spoil the ending but lets just say this will get many fans going crazy because I sure know I did.

The combat is super satisfying as well, especially when you unlock new abilities in the skill tree or through the story. The combat always stays fresh especially when you reach towards the ending when you get a lightsaber upgrade which varies combat majorly and I'm sure Star wars fans are going to love it when they unlock it.

Exploration is also rewarded with giving you new lightsaber pieces or skins for yourself, DB-1 (who is awesome) or the mantis. You will also find echoes which can give you more story about the empires presence on the planet or lore on certain things about the planet. Also the lore is cool for the enemies if you are willing to take a few seconds to scan an enemy, this can help a lot as it will give you there weaknesses if you struggle against them.

The only problem with the game in my opinion is most of the boss fights, which really sucks. There are amazing bosses though which left my jaw open but sadly there are only five of these through the game. Most of the bosses you will fight are in secret areas or when you are backtracking which is disappointing and when you battle them you will soon see they are reskins of previous bosses or just reskins of regular enemies.

Another problem I can see with the game is that it is a rip off of Sekiro. This doesn't bother me though because as much as I love Sekiro, this could be seen as a stepping stone towards the right direction for Star Wars games, Respawn and EA produced games in general.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is one of EA's best games ever and there best in 3 years since Titanfall 2 (That I've played). Star Wars games has a bright future if this is the direction these companies go in and hopefully EA realise if they make Battlefront 3 that fans are willing to buy good games that aren't pay to win. I want more games like this from these companies in the future and less of the Loot Box stuffed shallow games EA are known for. Well Done Respawn and EA.

Maybe it could be all three and do it well, but poor performance, bugs diminish the user experience. The game switches from combat and then forces you to go exploring and running and jumping so often my head spins. It can’t seem to figure out what kind of game it wants to be. One moment you’re enjoying the excellent combat and the next moment you’re trying to figure how a Stormtrooper with a rocket launcher got on your an impossible ledge that is relentlessly blasting you with endless rockets while you try and find out where the ledge is so you can climb and jump around. I found myself spending way too much time climbing than in combat. Sitting too long in a temple trying to figure out where the ball goes than in combat. No fast travel also pads the play time needlessly. If this truly is the best Star Wars game in 10 years, my advice is to keep waiting. Expand

Respawn Entertainment went hard with this game. They managed to capture both Star Wars and Soul-like fans. The removal of lootboxes was a huge win for gamers. I know multiplayer being absent was something celebrated but if we can have this game with a PVP saber dueling mode on top of the already insane singleplayer then this game would be an 11/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While this game is fairly enjoyable, I would argue that it’s not exactly creative or unique. EA has brought down all our expectations of Star Wars games so low that this game is getting praise that I don’t believe it earns. Regardless of my disappointment with the ending of this game (Cere should have jumped in the way of Vader, letting Cal AND Trilla escape. The after credits scene should be Cere becoming an lnquisitor) the rave reviews are a result of our low expectations in Star Wars games. In reality, this game relies far too much on already established places such as Illum and Darthomir. For me, the stories lack of creativity puts a ceiling on the quality of the campaign. I would have preferred to see the story take place 5 weeks after order 66, not 5 years. That would have given an entirely new feel to the game and made it far more unique. It’s gonna take much more than this one game for my opinion of these new Star Wars games to change. Maybe if they remaster KOTOR I’ll forgive them. Fallen Order is still worth a play. The game bolsters beautiful graphics a great combat system and good voice acting. but buy it used. Expand

Respawn shows a level of mastery yet again and proved that Titanfall 2 wasn't just a once in a blue moon experience. I still believe Titanfall 2 is a better game but Jedi Fallen Order is a great game regardless and what makes it great is the aforementioned story and combat. Combat in Jedi Fallen Order is fun and intuitive, it expands on the souls formula in surprising ways by introducing more combos thanks to different unlockable lightsaber abilities that can shift up the combat when it starts to get stale.
Boss fights are also great and are definitely the standout parts of the game, the final boss in particular is a challenging encounter that requires a good understanding of all the skills you have learned up to that point however the actual ending is anti climactic and implies a sequel could be in the works but some more closure would have been nice.
But the only thing that keeps Jedi Fallen Order from reaching a 10 is it suffers from a lack of replayablity as when the story ends you can freely explore the planets to get collectibles you missed but once thats done there is no point in continuing with the playthrough. A NG+ mode with added mechanics and more collectibles and more reasons to continue playing but as it stands this game is a once and done deal.
Overall if you are a massive Dark Souls or Star Wars fan this game is a no brainer to pick up and I would highly recommend it as a fan of both series.

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.

Respawn has shown us, and EA, that single player games are well enough alive and kicking and has set a bright future for the Star Wars franchise of videogames if they keep this up.
