Its a great Star Wars Game as you start an amateur but as you progress you become a jedi. It's a very challenging game that is engaging to play, as I first time player I had a good time. The only downgrade is the frame freezes and drops as as glitches that happen from time to time.

    Full review:

    1) Game Mechanics
The game combines the platforming and puzzle solving of the Uncharted and modern Tomb Raider games with a combat and experience system taken from the Dark Souls series.

I have nothing against reusing game mechanics from other titles: Horizon Zero Dawn does not have a single original element of game mechanics, but that does not detract from the experience because such mechanics are brilliantly implemented. However, Fallen Order's implementation of traversal, platforming and combat is less than good.
    - Slow response and lack of precision in combat controls, when timing and precision are required from the player to survive.
    - Climbing and jumping are unnecessarily clunky and difficult. You will feel that jumps go well or not depending on pure luck rather than skill.

In short, the game is playable but the imprecise controls will detract from your fun to a great extent.

    2) Graphics
This game sometimes looks worse than Mass Effect Andromeda.

    - The walking and running animations of the main character look like Forrest Gump and Sarah Ryder had a son and decided to dump him on a ship breaking facility and call it a day.

    - The hair on the Wookies is... I guess somewhere between a straw man and the Swamp Thing after bleaching all of its body hair. I played on a standard PS4, so I hope you guys playing on a PS pro have better luck.

    - Frame rate drops and stuttering all over the place; sometimes during whole cut scenes, which completely removes any involvement in the story.

    - Low textures left and right, as well as the usual loading of the textures in stages that sometimes takes minutes to complete.

    3) Music, sound, voice acting.
Excellent music perfectly in line with the Star Wars saga. Good voice acting across the board. Sound effects decent, with the iconic sounds for blasters, laser sabers, TIE fighters, etc.

    4) Story
Good by videogame standards. If you thought Uncharted 4 or Horizon Zero Dawn were masterpieces of storytelling, then you will find the writing here excellent. I grew up reading Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Alan Moore, Frank Miller... so, like I said, good by videogame standards.

    5) Other issues
    - Loading screens are not frequent, but when there's one, they are long. This means that if you come across a boss fight that you need to repeat a few times, you will spend minutes upon minutes watching the loading screen. I really hope all that bragging about SSD eliminating loading times has an inch of truth in it, because it's getting annoying.

    - The aesthetics of the main character wearing mostly ponchos... I don't know whose idea this was, but they could have at least given more options to dress the character.

    CONCLUSION:
As stated above, some good ideas executed in a so-so way, and a bunch of technical issues that the developer never cared to fix. Buy only on sale.

What I didn't know was, that this game is catered to people who like souls like games, meaning it is very punishing, has a certain set of mechanics like dodging and parrying and relies on precise timing. And even though I am very bad at these and don't have the patience for such, even I can tell, that it is rahter bad at capturing the souls feel.
The majority of the game is platforming though, which feels mechanically solid, but very unispiring.
Both things I would never have expected from a starwars game, and didn't catch from the clerks description.
The story is boring, the environments are boring, the characters are ugly and annoying, puzzles are unrealistic and stupid, gameplay is clunky, agravating and just a chore.

Weird lightsaber combat, I think the first two Jedi games get this right, they allow you to run and swing at the same time, if you press jump while swinging you do flip over your opponent. In Jedi fallen order once you swing, you are on-rails and can't run around while doing that, the designers thought that this would stop players from going bonkers and running around making the combat easy, but then you don't feel like a Jedi fighting a Sith, you feel like a character in an action rpg with a huge sword. Not that you'd notice how bad the lightsaber controls because there are barely any lightsaber duels. SERIOUSLY! you take away one of the main selling points of being a Jedi an it just makes the game Feel dumb. Expand

The game is an enjoyable and often beautiful romp but is let down by a number of technical issues. It is often frustrating and simply demonstrates an overall lack of polish. It’s sad to think that the artists and designers that worked hard to create the game had to put out a product they knew was not ready.

Although I experienced no game breaking issues the game is plagued by minor issues. The controls in general feel sluggish and imprecise. Ropes, avoiding obstacles while sliding and jumping between balance beams is particularly problematic and I died many frustrating deaths while fighting the controls into doing what I wanted them to do.

The AI in general is poor, enemies seemed to lack any communication between themselves and swamp the player from every direction. This makes the parry mechanics hard to manage and you are often struck by one enemy while you are in the animations for attacking another. Enemies seem able to interrupt your animation yet you are often unable to interrupt your own animation. This is very noticeable while entering a run or when performing a dodge. Enemies are also easy to break and ‘cheese’. You will have enemies reach a doorway while attacking only to turn around and ignore you. One particular boss fight you can just walk through a large natural arch and the boss just walks off.

The game is at is best when you are left to explore and the soul’s like mechanics work well but in general it needed more time in development. It needed more set pieces, improved combat, less backtracking and better rewards for exploration. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and release a better sequel.

The game had awesome combat! It was a bit short but EA doesn’t really like the single player games anyways I guess. The music was wonderful and the gameplay was pretty solid after the buggy launch. Too many bugs. Lol! They have added a photo mode. That ending..... it’s surprising and not in a good way as far as I’m concerned but I won’t spoiler anything. Get it if you can.

Holy **** there are many of them: enemies *poof* away ina puff of smoke when you are about to attck them, the game stutters and freezes and has fps drops in areas where it really should not have, some of the load times are ridiculous even on an ssd system, there's an idiotic amount of pop-in, and sometimes the charcaters that have scripted sequences don't activate making u have to restart because u can't progress.

Underneath those however (the bugs are not really game breaking more annoying) is a really good star wars game with a good story, fun combat and some enoyable bossfights, even tough i had to crank up the difficulty to the hardest mode to be somewhat challenged. ( the game suffers enormously from Cal's power creep, making the game really easy.)

Disney could learn a thing or 2 to put in their movies.

If you are a big Star Wars fan, you will enjoy this game, but this game is very enjoyable even for non-fans in my opinion. The story is very well told, especially for a Star Wars game. The game is also very challenging, and while the gameplay is great, it can be very frustrating at times. The difficulty does not come off as unfair, but it does require lots of strategy and tactics when facing enemies, especially boss fights. Some people have equated this game's difficulty to that of Dark Souls. I personally would not go that far, but it will take you several attempts to get through several parts of this game, even if you are very good at the game. That might be a turn off for some people, but it also works in the game's favor. One thing that might not seem like a big deal but will bother you when you are playing the game is the in-game map. The map can be very confusing when you are trying to find where you need to go next for your next objective. The characters in the game are very well written and there are a few characters from the movies that make appearances in the game as well. The game is not a masterpiece, but it is still one of the better Star Wars games out there, especially when it comes to single player games. Expand

Awesome game ! Loved the story. The game does a great job of maintaining a lot of the Star Wars mysticism that first made me fall in love with the saga. Gameplay is awesome ! The double bladed lightsabers are so much fun ! And the NPC’s are great ! Really hope EA does a sequel.

I love Star Wars games when you can actually play as a Jedi. This game did a pretty good job on that. I just wish it was more like KOTOR that way you can create your own character. but with that being said. I still liked it a lot.

Game has crashed about 3 or 4 times on my PS4 about 15 hours in. Poor level design, no fast travel, extremely tedious back and forth. Collectibles are very underwhelming. The story is good, not great. Plenty of glitches. Combat is extremely repetitive, I'm sure it works for some, not for me though. Would not recommend paying more than 20 dollars for this

Decent story, likeable characters and quite good graphics. Also no micro transactions. A little too much backtracking and sometimes clumsy controls but it’s the first good Star Wars single player game in a long time. Well worth playing and if it’s just to prove to EA that SP games are still very much demanded and appreciated.

The influences are undeniable. Climbing like in the Uncharted series and a challenging fighting system like Dark Souls. The problem is: both these games are still doing better in their specific areas. I do hope - and am confident - Respawn will build up on this very solid foundation in a sequel.

Before we begin, let me say I went into this game with low expectations. EA is a cash grab publisher as well all know, and Respawn Entertainment has only developed multiplayer games beforehand - Titanfall & Apex Legends.

Also worth mentioning that I am not the biggest Star Wars fan you would find, but I enjoy the movies. With that being said, I would argue that this game has a better and more interesting story than majority of the movies. It even FEELS like a Star Wars movie so kudos to that.
But now, let's get to the gameplay. Unfortunately, the game does not handle rendering and minor platforming glitches too well. For me though, it was nothing that seemed game breaking. They were minor annoyances, but the game would simply fix it within seconds. The combat is awesome especially on Grand Master mode, I have never played The Force Unleashed games, but this was the first Star Wars game that made me feel like I was a real Jedi. There is a pretty good size skill tree as well as new abilities to unlock at a healthy pace throughout your adventure. I am a big fan of the Dark Souls' inspiration, meditations are like bonfires, which are used to replenish health/force and respawn all enemies (besides bosses). Overall, you get plenty of boss fights, plenty of optional areas, and collectibles.

I would have to agree with its current User Score at 2,533 ratings (7.7), I would score this game in the range of 7.6-7.8. For me personally, the cons are: needs better loading, fix minor glitches + animations, add some type of fast travel (maybe be able to fast travel only back to ship), and edit some level design to make navigating a little less of a chore especially for revisited planets. Those are my major complaints, but all in all it is a really good game, It has a decent story length being a semi-open world game so it will keep you entertained 15-25hr. I recommend it to any gamer, and it is a must buy for any Star Wars fan!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes, I've been starved for a good Star Wars game - I think we've all been starved for a good star wars game- and EA has done very little to deliver here (surprise, surprise).

So I was very much looking forward to this game when it was released. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my hopes and expectations.

There's no risks taken with this game. No big plot twists or new avenues. What is considered cannon by Disney is really limiting the creativity and endless possibilities that the Star Wars universe offers.

Some of my favorite star wars games were KOTR 1 & 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 1&2 (the originals). Lucas Arts had some duds as well, but they also released some amazing star wars games.

EA has let the Star Wars exclusive license down. I hope Disney picks somebody else to run with it, but I doubt it - just like the NFL continues to blindly trust EA even though Madden has been lacking innovation for years.

The graphics and sounds are generally very good, but the game lacks a true open world feel that it tries so hard to convey. Levels are very linear, character customization while it appears to be vast, end up not being so, as you are limited to ponchos and camos and the skill tree isn't all that exciting.

It's very east to get lost - the holographic map, while a good idea, was not executed well. It's very hard to use and you frequently spend a lot of time trying to find where you want to go. Also, please put in a fast travel to ship as opposed to backtracking all the way back to the ship at the end of each main questline on each planet. So annoying to spend a half hour or more fighting the exact same respawning enemies as you go back to the ship.

Also, speaking of re-spawning enemies, that's not my favorite game design. It kind of messes with the whole in-game immersion where if you kill people, they just re-appear when you come back. I know its a Dark Souls element, but it's not my thing.

I'd much prefer to have the bodies and carnage stay around for the duration of the level. Would feel much more immersive. But it would also require a lot more lines of code and writing to develop counter attacks or other subplots where more enemies are sent in depending on your choices.

Speaking of choices, this is another area where the game fell flat. I didn't feel like choices or exploration mattered. Oh yay, I found a brown and red poncho...

Story was generic and didn't excite me. The combat wasn't bad, but I would have liked to see more realistic lightsaber effects with people, not just creatures. Speaking of creatures, please, less creatures. I don't want to fight off space rats, weird toads and other creatures as much as you had to in this game. That doesn't feel like star wars.

Sadly, I got bored of this game and wasn't able to finish it (got about 50-60% of the way through) and just quit. Not enough to keep me coming back for more.

    Pros:

The combat is awesome. Especially against bosses. I know I've seen a few people harping about the combat, but I had a blast swinging my lightsaber around. On the hardest difficulty, some of the bosses took me 1-2 hours to defeat, but each and every battle was earned and was damn fun too.

The story is well crafted and fits right into the SW universe.

The graphics are among some of the best over the past couple years.

    Cons:

3D Map layout is frustrating when trying to go back and complete side missions/unlock all ares Not a fan.

    Lightsaber/ponchos don't come with upgrades

Also not a huge fan of the enemies respawning at every meditation. It makes for tedious, repetitive gameplay.

All in all, the few sour points don't spoil this game in the least bit. You will have a lot of fun playing this game, but I'd bet you will want to smash your controller at a few points. If you're a SW fan however, this game is a must have.

The game itself has the look and feel of true Star Wars adventure although the dialogue and story are shallow and the entire story is on rails without your ability to alter it in any way (other than the sequence of the planets you visit, but even then you are forced into a specific path, this isn't KOTOR). You either progress or you don't, there are no choices other than searching for pointless crates and echos.

Then there is the combat. I will preface this by saying I don't enjoy dark souls style combat. But I can make it work if the controls are tight, the enemy behaviour is consistent and the camera works. This game has neither. In other games you need split second reactions or consistent patterns to defeat the enemy, but that only works if your character actually reacts to your split second reactions. And I don't mean the constant stagger, stun and knockback from literally everything other than a stormtrooper. I mean the floatiness of it, where you react and your character does a lengthy unnecessary animation which is inevitably interrupted by an instant enemy response.

Over and over again, you are being punished for lacklustre controls. It's next to impossible to recover from enemy combo attacks, if you get hit even once. You can't cancel your moves while every single enemy does it regularly. You have to commit to every attack while the creatures around you don't have to, can turn 180 mid swing or just outright power through your every move and perfectly timed parry, while your every move gets cancelled and you stagger over and over again while they chain unblockable attacks.

I only finished the game because it is Star Wars, if it wasn't I would quit after a couple of hours, it's not the dificulty, it's the **** dificulty. It's not about interesting strong enemies it's about fighting boring enemies with your hands bound behind your back. And while the visuals are interesting, the story actually isn't so don't bother.

You have to explore to find things, but most of what you find is just cosmetic and doesn't improve your weapon. This game is bad. I mean really, really, really bad.

This game wants to be Tomb Raider. I love TR, they are among my favourite games of all time.

But if I wanted to play TR, I'd play TR.

I wanted to play Star Wars, be a Jedi, have several light saber fights, but instead, there is only one of the worst level and game design I have ever seen in my 21 years of gaming, it's amazing how bad GD and especially level design are in this game.

The level design makes no sense at all. This game wants to be Tomb Raider but in Tomb Raider, you don't end up in front of a puzzle to start it, realise you don't have all the force abilities required to finish it, go somewhere else and then get back to the puzzle. I did not play for 2 days, when I got back, it was just a nightmare just to remember what to do, because the game does not tell exactly what to do, I don't want a game to hold me by the hand but at least be clear about the reason why we are here in the first place.

Everything is VAGUE, it's a nightmare. And there are like 3 or 4 light saber fight, what is this ? This is a suppose to be a STAR WARS GAME, light saber fights should be ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO IN A STAR WARS GAME !!!!!!!!!! NOT WANDERING AROUND IN A TOMB WITHOUT ANY REAL OBJECTIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!

I won't even talk about the story, what story? There's no story. Oh yes, there is a ex-jedi knight that decided to withdraw from the force (WHAT ??????????????? ISN'T THE FORCE SUPPOSE TO BIND ALL LIVING THINGS AND...OH NEVER MIND !!!!! )

I tried and tried and tried and tried to play this game, but now after 4 tries of more than an hour each, I just can't stand this game more than 30 minutes because of HOW BAD IT IS,

it's DULL, it's VAGUE, it's EMPTY, it DOES NOT KNOW WHAT GAME IT SHOULD BE, it's A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, it's ONE OF THE WORST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED.

The worst thing is that, I did not encounter bugs or any other stuff that could explain my reaction, there are no bugs from what I've saw but the LEVEL DESIGN IS SO BAD, you feel you are turning in circles all the time, you feel that you don't move FORWARD.

The second time I played, I realised after an hour that I had forgotten what my objective was, IT NEVER HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER GAMES I'VE PLAYED IN 21 YEARS and not because there is not a written indication BUT BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL DESIGN AS YOU ARE GOING BACK AND FORTH AND BACK AND FORTH AND BACK AND FORTH YOU END UP NOT KNOWING ANYMORE WHY YOU WERE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO DO IT'S INSANE !!!!!!!

This game should be taught in gaming school for its superiorly bad level and game design, it's full of mistakes, they have invented the Deus Ex Machina Gameplay concept it's INSANE.

Other things that makes no sense at all :

    - Ennemies respawn if you medidate ON ANY DIFFICULTY LEVEL , WHAT IS THIS ? WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA ???????????? It's immersion breaking and it's infuriating, you rest to get your life back ONLY TO HAVE TO LOSE IT AGAIN OHH WHAT A BRILLANT IDEA !!!!!!

    - The holomap is unreadable , it's as VAGUE as the rest of the game

    - The way the character remembers his abilities is COMPLETLY RIDICULOUS, it gives that feeling of a Deus Ex Machina Gameplay that I talked about before, IT'S THE WORST IDEA EVER.

The rule is pretty simple in game design : DON'T PUT YOUR PLAYER IN FRONT OF A PROBLEM THEY CAN'T RESOLVE YET BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO !!!!!
THIS GAME IS THE FIRST ONE TO NOT RESPECT THAT RULE AND LOOK WHAT IT ENDS UP BEING : A COMPLETE WASTE !!!!

Jedi: Fallen Order is the first Star Wars game I've ever played (besides Lego Star Wars lol), and I had an amazing time with my adventure. The feeling of slashing enemies with my lightsaber and enjoying an epic story was an amazing experience.

Besides some frustrations with gameplay, the story compensates it all, making it totally worth your money and time.

Jedi: Fallen Order has amazing combat - unlike most AAA action games these days, where you just have to smash buttons and the only way to make it challenging is setting the difficulty to the max so that you die in 1 hit (examples: The Witcher 3, Nier Automata, Devil May Cry series). Most games these days are amazing interactive novels, but not amazing games. Dark Souls changed the paradigm in that regard by making all aspects of the game equally brilliant. And Jedi Fallen Order clearly follows, borrowing even more things like bonfires and elevator shortcuts - and it's completely ok to follow a paradigm as long as you do it with originality. Expand

Absolutely terrible performance on regular PS4, this game should have never been released in such poor state of optimisation. I hardly get more than 20fps it's insane. Freezes during cut scenes etc. Please do yourself a favour and buy it on PC.

Solid game. Combat does get better thankfully. Very buggy and laggy as of May 2020 which is why it's got a 6.

EA впервые за долгое время смогли удивить меня не только технологичностью, но и «душою» и «качеством» игры.

    OTIMIZAÇÃO PORCA!
With constant frame drops, Jedi Fallen Order becomes one of the biggest disappointments on PS4 PRO for me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You play as Cal Kestus, a Jedi who survived the purge. Your goal is to find a jedi holocron, which may help you rebuild the Jedi order. You are accompanied by Cere Junda, an ex Jedi, Greez, a pilot, aand best of all, BD-1, your droid companion. The combat is fluid and precise, although the level design is tideous, but rewarding. Way too many frustrating glitches that make me want to play any other game than it. Average combat with fun ways to solve puzzles that get old very quickly, ranges from stupidly easy puzzles to needlessly complicated. Cringe!

Much beyond of what I expected. Story is expected as Star wars so, not too good but satisfying. Gameplay mechanics and combat is fun and smooth if you have game in performance mode. Only bad thing about game is if you fgo to platinum trophy you can expect A LOT of grinding and time consuming cleanup which make no sense.

The story is very good and interesting. The major flaw is the combat system. Doesnt feel natural and the blocking system is rubbish. The control doesnt vibrate when you are fighting and you are hit, so you dont realise the enemy is damaging you. Thats frustating, you have to keep watching the meter. Clunky controls. Laggy graphics. Pressed block? Get ready to not block, and to just stand instead. Pressed dodge? Get ready to not dodge and jump in place. Press attack, no attack. Press attack again? Attack three times.

Idc if this is how the game was designed on purpose. It sucks and it’s stupid. It’s not fun to play. I’m at difficulty 1 out of 4 and 2 out of 4 is much much different

Idc if this is how the game was designed on purpose. It sucks and it’s stupid. It’s not fun to play. I’m at difficulty 1 out of 4 and 2 out of 4 is much much different from 1. The game should make a bigger difference between when the player is parrying and when the opponent is parrying - they both sound and look the same and so you can just hold down the block button and the game will make all sorts of noises as if the player is incurring massive damage.

The graphics are *so* bad. It feels like a 85-90%-finished game. You can pause, return from pause, and watch a landscape that was previously loaded before pressing pause have to load again and re-render itself...

If the Nintendo Switch can load (and keep loaded) the graphics for BotW then why can’t this game remember that I was looking at a tree and not an oblong greyish brown blob that *eventually* looks like a “tree” again after some additional loading?

The load times returning from respawn are quite long so IDK what’s going on in the meantime if it’s not collecting and retaining info.

Save your cash. Pass on this game.

If you get over a slower start without powers, we can assure you, that it will only get better and better. An entertaining mix of Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Dark Souls set in the Star Wars universe. You don’t have to worry; the game is worth its full price. [Issue#300]

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.

Respawn has shown us, and EA, that single player games are well enough alive and kicking and has set a bright future for the Star Wars franchise of videogames if they keep this up.
