It was one of the few games that kept me going for more gameplay than history. The gameplay is very good, dodge, jedi powers, enable new powers, block ... you really feel like playing with a jedi. One thing I didn't like was that they wanted to add a lot of platform and backtracking elements, it gets confusing and overshadows the best part of the game, which is the battles.

Obs Spoiler: The last part of the game, where you control Cal running away from Darth Vader is one of the coolest moments in the game, there should be more moments like that.

This is not it. While the story is slightly above average, and the voice acting and motion capture brings the characters to life, that is where the praise ends for Fallen Order. The traversal is clunky and infuriating, with Cal making crazy leaps and falls off into oblivion and respawning with a slightly lower health bar, akin to the Legend of Zelda but without the charm or tact. The save point system is ridiculous and outdated, suitable for MMORPG's that require grinding of monsters, not a single player story driven RPG. The lightsaber combat is nice and satisfying-if you are facing a single enemy, which is about 20% of the time. Boss fights are boring and unsatisfying, with dark souls-esque gimmicks and patterns, but the overall lack of refinement makes it feel unsatisfying and unrewarding. I felt myself plodding through, just trying to get to the next area to see if the game miraculously started being fun. News flash, it didn't. Do not buy this game. Get a month of EA Play, give it a go for a few days until the charm of lightsaber customization and cute robots wears off, then put it down and move on to something better. Expand

Overall this is a solid game where they tried to make a Star Wars "souls like". The audio/visuals are great and the game controls well and is fun to play. There are some major flaws holding it back:
    1. The collectibles are pointless and everywhere. I don't care about ponchos or ship color. None of that stuff mattered and felt like a waste of time.

    2. The game is too easy on regular difficulty to have the same "risk/reward" feeling of a souls game. I never once lost my progress and there is a checkpoint around EVERY corner making the shortcuts useless.
    3. The wall running/swinging and sliding are fun at first but overused and felt tedious at times. There was no challenge there it felt like filler after a while.
    4. A couple of the puzzles are obnoxiously unclear what to do. I ended up looking them up and thinking to myself "I NEVER would have known that is what I was supposed to do!"

Overall its pretty good, but I feel like a lot of the game was just extra filler and it could have been so much more.

I want to give this game a higher rating to support single-player endeavours rather than the trite we got from Battlefront, however there are just too many glaring issues that I couldn't overlook once I'd seen them.

The graphics allows you the typical performance mode vs resolution. The difference is noticeable, however even in performance mode I had serious framerate dips and chopping.

This wasn't even during hectic scenes; it happened randomly. When it worked it worked amazingly and I loved seeing 60FPS lightsaber action but this was hindered far too often.

The story of the game is fairly by the numbers, although I didn't progress far enough to experience it properly. I liked that it went down a more original route rather than imitating movies or rebooting old material. This had the foundation for an amazing game if not for the issues I'll outline below.

The gameplay is where the game really falters. Fallen Order does not shy away from its inspirations, however this goes a step too far in that it basically copy and pastes mechanics and concepts from games like Dark Souls, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank. Unfortunately, it doesn't do a very good job of this. The holomap is a confusing mess. The meditation spots not being used for fast travel is a bewildering oversight. The parrying seems temperamental and chaotic. Traversal is fun at first but eventually becomes a chore and the puzzles are very irritating.

I will give credit for including an option for difficulty levels that helps overcome mundane boss fights, something I think Soulborne games need.

The problem I have with this game is that it comes across like a handful of developers had some budget left over from the Battlefront games but resources were very limited. If not for the Jedi and lightsaber elements, it would be a very simplistic and dated experience. It could have benefitted from being a smaller experience because there just isn't enough depth and variety to maintain interest for the entire game. Having said that, I am very interested in a sequel should improvements be made.

    + sound
    + lightsaber customization
+ Cool transitions between single and dualwielded lightsabers
    + BD-1

    Cons
    - Blocking system
    - Basic movement
    - Character and ship customization are just reskins with no details (looting chests is just useless)
    - Story is linear
    - Characters are flat and poorly written
    - Unecessary jumping and climbing sequences with buggy controls
    - Fauna is buggy with undodgable attacks (if you can you want to avoid it)
    - Load times on respawn are way too long (Played of PS5 and encountered more than 2 minutes loads)
    - Fighting more enemies at once is just infuriating (they always interrupt your combo)
    - Fights are very repetitive
    - Behind every second corner there is an enemy who attacks on sight
    - Unskippable cutscenes

It is Uncharted and Sekiro ripoff, but all the things that make these games great are done very poorly. The climbing is buggy and the game forces you to walk/climb the same path several times over. I am not a fan of the bonfire/meditation mechanic.

If this wasn't a Star Wars game it would have at most 60.

This game is difficult and I don't mean challenging, I don't mind challenge, I finished Kingdome Come Deliverance on Hardcore with all negative perks. It is so infuriating trying to block some attacks and the attack still goes through. It ruins the pace of the game and you have to stick to the most basic combos which just gets boring. Once you get L1 Square combo there is no point in using anything else.

It looked so promising but it's a disapointment.

When you attempt to grab a ledge often times Cal will miss and you either fall to your death or have to climb back up to where you were, or when a cutscene happens there will be a little pause and the NPCs will seemingly teleport to a different place a foot away from where they were standing at the end of the cutscene. I’ve had several bugs where I had to close out the game and start it up again and others where Cal froze in place when I attempted to interact with something. Again, this is 2 years after release. The story isn’t bad and I don’t mind the platform of or fighting. Had it not been for these seemingly minor things that I mentioned before I’d probably give the game a 8/9, but the fact that these things are still an issue makes me remember why I was never truly excited to play this game. copian el sistema de hogueras de Dark Souls para recuperar vida y reiniciar enemigos

First, the good: I really liked the story, and after playing the game with my 11-year-old step kid, so did he. It was a great memory for us together, and immediately after the game was over, he made a little Cal Lego guy, and that little dude already has some serious miles on him.

The game was hard, but we just right away turned the difficulty to ‘Story’ and we loved it. We are wusses, and we wear that badge very proudly. I would imagine we would have enjoyed the game a lot less had it even been on Normal, because the Souls influence is strong with this one.

Now, the not-so-good: The backtracking after your work is done on a planet. A fast travel system here would have put this game at a 9 for me, but my kid and I spent two entire sessions just trying to figure out the map of two planets in order to get back to the ship. The map doesn’t tell you which directions are passable or not if you’ve already explored them, meaning that you have to go and see if you can go that way or not, and my mental map is terrible—I’m always lost in real life. For some players who have a stronger sense of internal direction this wouldn’t be an issue, but it was for me.

Anyway, a really fun game, especially for a Star Wars fan—doubly especially for a well-oriented Star Wars fan.

One of the best Star Wars games I ever played. Gameplay is very interesting: rewarding combat, Uncharted like exploration, cool lightsaber modifications and a good story. Overall performance is okay, although one of the planets have a terrible visible frame drops. Also facial animations beyond cinematics is strange and pretty unpolished. Still, the core of the game gives a very good time.

This is a really nice game and actually makes you feel like a jedi with the cool force abilities you can use. The only issue is with the rear stutter that you face on a ps4 slim demanding more from the hardware.

The length of the game is also decent, you can play this game by just subscribing to ea play on your ps4 without actually buying the game which makes this a compelling try. I

The main characters are unlikable and the story is nothing any SW fan hasn't seen twenty times already.
The Dark Souls death mechanics definitely don't mix well with the Uncharted climbing.
And finally (on the regular PS4); load times are atrocious, frame rate drops common, screen tears all the time, and the whole game freezes for a good 10 seconds now and then completely.
I really don't understand how this is getting so much praise...

In my opinion Story should always be second to gameplay, user experience, game mechanics, and combat because that is what makes a game immersive and fun/enjoyable. Combat is great, love the story and characters as well as all of the cannon star wars stuff and planets. I liked all of the lore and customization. However every game has it's flaws and with this one I didn't quite like the lack of fast travel. It's fun at first to traverse these expansive environments but later you can straight up get LOST. I liked all of the enemies and their designs but I do think that there should be more of them because the combat is so immersive and fun. It truly makes you feel like a Jedi. I often found myself resting at a meditation point so the enemies would respawn and I could fight the again. Anyway that is my review of SW:FO made by respawn EA and knowing EA this is a Huge step forward in the right direction. Overall I think this game is definitely worth your time and money.

It doesn't really use the gameplay to tell its story. I don't know the actual ratio but I'd say it's somewhere around 4 parts cut scene to 5 parts gameplay. I liked what I played of this game- except one major thing. When you lose all your health you go clear back to the beginning of a large level. Did this twice on me- last time when I was just about through the level. I threw my controller and deleted the game. The gameplay itself is pretty good- action/adventure- kind of like Uncharted. I just hated the dying mechanic. Wouldn't really recommend.

It creates a feeling like a Metroidvania in 3D. More surprising it is an EA game without loot boxes and micro-transactions. The story is set a few years after Revenge of the Sith. You are playing Cal Kestis a former Padawan (Pupil / trainee) who survived Order 66 (The extermination of >99% of the Jedi) and is hiding from the Empire as scrap salvaging worker on the planet Bracca. He has mostly abandoned his past and his connection with the force is unstable from the emotional scars he received during Order 66. When he uses the Force to safe a friend who is a coworker he gained the attention of the Empire in form of the Inquisitors (Jedi Hunters of the Empire and dark side users). This is the beginning of his adventure as fate / the force has other plans for him. The story starts a bit slowly or foreseeable but becomes better and better. The later half is excellent and deals with hard choices, psychology and how to deal with the past. You see Cal grow and develop on his journey. Then there is the co-star. The droid BD-1 who holds a precious secret in his secured data files. He accompanies Cal on his journey and is very useful and charming. Star Ward has a lot of great droids and BD-1 is easily one of them. Then there is the rest of the cast. Cere Junda who has even more scars on her soul than Cal, Greez Dritus who is stronger / more heroic than he thinks, the second sister who has a great backstory and others I consider a crime spoiling. There are of cause some familiar faces you will encounter. It delivers and the force is strong with the cast and story. Gameplay-wise it uses the exploration from the Tomb Raider reboot only better. You explore maps by climbing, jumping and using your force abilities or abilities from your droid BD-1 to advance. Both Cal and BD-1 will learn a lot of helpful new tricks. This opens new areas, shortcuts and new options. You can find treasures, secrets and background knowledge (lore) as Cal has a rare force ability that lets him experience echos of past events and emotions (glimpses). I really enjoyed this as there was so much stuff to find and hidden areas I was proud to access. The battle system reminded me of Dark Souls or has elements of it. Outside the story mode difficulty even standard enemies will be a threat when you just use button mashing. You have stims for healing but can only use them for a limited amount (Can increase the numbers by finding yellow special chest in the levels). To recharge the stims you must rest at a save point which restores all enemies you have previously defeated. Then you have an endurance bar for blocking that can be quickly depleted if you are not careful. Enemies can also have one for you to deplete. If you time your blocking correct you get a chance for a counter and if you deflect a blaster bolt with good timing you throw it back at the enemy. Looking at the map does not stop combat and if you die you lose you experience points that are below of a level up. You can get it back from the enemy that killed you. There is a limit how often you can use the force (Another bar) that can be filled up by attacking or resting (there are other unlockable options). The force is a unique tool that can slow enemies, push them away (and into an abyss for instant wins) and more. As you gain levels and progress the story you unlock more abilities that help you a lot. There are some clever puzzles to solve in the game. An excellent Metroidvania in this case. There are a few missteps for me: I hate the trope of breakable walls that I need a special ability to destroy when I have a Lightsaber that should work perfectly. I don't like the Dark Souls games even if I like the challenge (I have not enough time as worker and my reflexes are not as good as in my youth which the Mini NES / SNES showed me clearly). Most treasures are unrewarding especially the ponchos;-). The rest however is fine and the conclusion of the game is excellent but maybe something others dislike. I think it was fitting without a doubt. Overall this was a welcomed surprise and one of the best Star Wars games. It only slightly misses to be a 10/10 but this still means it is a great game. Expand

    - Long load times/death screens

    - Inaccurate difficulties where even the second lowest difficulty needs mastery of combat (I've beaten GoT on hard, they did difficulty and combat right) because of the janky combat and enemies

    - Ledges and rails need 100% precise landing or you fall off (feels like you can't even be off kilter by 1cm)

    - Enemies that move like a ragdoll, flailing their arms half the time you don't even know what direction they're moving (not all of them)

    - Horrible map system

    - Character doesn't even mark locked chests on map, so you can go back to them once you get the required skill

    - Too much backtracking needed if you wanted to go back and get to areas or chests you couldn't otherwise get to before, with no tracking available

There are a lot of bugs in the game, platforming controls can be really clunky, and the lack of dismemberment is kind of disappointing. This game starts very promising. The story and cut scenes at the beginning is something Disney should take as an inspiration on how to do a proper Star Wars movie. The first very linear parts of game play look and feel great.

Unfortunately the rest of the game doesn't keep up with that. The story evolves into basic "find some very important things scattered around some planets" and can't be saved by some minor twists at the end. The game play tries to be something like Soulslike meets Zelda and still has a few highlights now and then, but overall the design is at mediocre quality. Many places look boring and empty, many of those puzzle elements are very uninspired and the levels often are not well thought out. There is this strange mix of puzzle and platforming that leaves you wondering whether you are doing something wrong or doing the wrong thing at all. Zelda gets this done a lot better.

The worst part is the placement of save points. Often you start at a save point, then walk, climb and swim through dull places, watch repetitive animations of your character crawling through holes and cracks in walls and after several minutes where literally nothing happens, sometimes literally without a single enemy, you get into a difficult fight... if you die here before you reach the next save point, you have to repeat all that waste of time, which made it hard for me to enjoy the game at a higher difficulty.

But it still is a solid game, with good presentation and overall mostly solid game play. And without loot boxes, micro payments or other scam (as the game is from EA this is worth mentioning). So if you are into Star Wars and got nothing else to play, you can give it a try.

I'm glad I managed my expectations because while this is a great Star Wars story, it just doesn't do the game genre justice. Souls games work because while the difficulty is high, the gameplay and mechanics are tight and responsive. When you die, you feel like it's your fault, not the game. You know you can do better. If you had made the correct inputs at the correct time, you would have succeeded. This is not so with Fallen Order. The game is so glitchy and unresponsive. You see an attack coming and you press the correct button but nothing happens. You have the perfect window to heal but the input lags and you end up taking the next attack in the middle of one of EA's patented slow as hell motion-capture animations. The game looks great but plays terribly. I would happily sacrifice 80% of the graphical fidelity and animation realism for responsive, dependable gameplay and bug-free combat. I played through for the story, but the game was torture. Going back to DS3 or Bloodborne felt like a totally different world. Expand

Like when you unlock the double-bladed lightsaber or finally beat a boss (let's say uh, The Second Sister), those moments are completely satisfying and makes the player feel a sense of pride and accomplishment (heh), and the characters, ehh they're alright and the story was, pretty good.
But the best part for me was the gameplay and the graphics. Respawn outdone themselves and the games looks fantastic, gameplay feels buttery smooth and impactful, the only major technical issue I had was that it took a bit long to render the land and when you load it up it would look ugly at first and then 20 seconds later it would smoothen itself out. This is a great game, 8/10.

P.S The Darth Vader part was pretty cool!

Honestly just a great singleplayer game. I've never seen any Star Wars movies, yet it didn't matter in the slightest, as the game fills you nicely on the lore. Story is good, the concept of linear open-world and returning to planets works well, graphics are very enjoyable, soundtrack is great (especially on Bogano). I'm a Star Wars lifelong fanatic. And have always had a love for the SW EU. This is a great great addition with amazing new lore. It's gorgeous and the planets are all very interesting. Unfortunately they were created very linearly with a platform game in mind. The locations did not feel organic or natural. It reminded me of a Star Wars/Uncharted mix. Not a bad thing.

    It's not quite a 9

It's not quite a 9 or 10 game mostly because of some of the engine mechanics. If this game leaned more towards an action game with RPG elements without a lot of the platforming. It would have been an easy 9/10 or 10/10.

The story and acting is just amazing. A great addition to the Star Wars lore. There BETTER be sequels!!!

It was a good game, but falls short in a lot of ways that make it doesn't look like a 2019 title. Maybe it is because I'm not a star wars fan. I appreciate the combat. However the lack of details, facial expression, and outdated game design makes me feel mixed about it.

The bugs make this adventure unfathomably tedious at times. Though both the story and gameplay were trite, they were good enough to deliver a decent experience. It's disappointing that it barely added anything meaningful to the Star Wars universe we all know and love but what else can you expect from a developer that is known for making first-person shooters?

The lightsaber combat is pure perfection and the levels have been designed in a way that is challenging but also visually stunning. But there are some issues. There are a couple of bugs that will probably fixed in the sequel such as the A.I just staying still and sometimes there is lag but otherwise it is a good game and certainly a game you should play. Although the replay value is not too great but if you want to unlock the Inquisitor appearance and explore the worlds more it is ok. In short it is a great game that I highly recommend. Lightsabers are supposed to be light and effortless to use, but the clunky weight feels like you're swinging a claymore and in addition the timing for parries is somewhere in the stratosphere. You can practice all you like, but the games combat system makes its own rules, and if you're swinging while an enemy is mid animation of attacking you, it won't even register. Make sure when you block you block very, very early or again, the game just won't register it. It's a weird oversight for something that could have been as tight and beautiful to play as Ghost of tsushima. Sadly it's quite a basic game with very iffy controls. Expand

The biggest flaw is that the navigation/map and level design is terrible in places. It can be difficult to see the route needed to get to particular objective (or even just back to your ship). On several occassions, I got near to where I thought I needed to be only to find a wall/unjumpable chasm in the way. I then attempted to backtrack to find that there are slides, jumps or ropes that force one-way travel. I also found the combat frustrating at times with some difficulty spikes when overcrowded by enemies (solved by turning difficulty down a notch). The stim is also a frustrating mechanic, especially early in the game when you do not have much health. The "stim" approach to health seems pointlessly copied from Souls games, which I hate. This game could have scored a 9 with just a few tweaks. Low points of the game = 5/10, good parts 9/10. Expand

Finally a good SW game and good EA game. The story is good (but not great). However, it always kept me motivated throughout the game. The fighting system is a lot of fun. The boss fights are difficult but good. You definitely get a nice SW feeling. It could be bit longer though.

    > No life-service elements, loot boxes, season passes or paid DLC.

    > $3.99 on EA Access (PS4)

    > Can turn off annoying QTEs

    > Changing the difficulty also influences enemy behavior (not just the damage)

    Negatives
    --------------
    >Once you've explored a planet to 50-60%, the holomap is useless. It's horribly designed and confusing to look at and navigate.

    >Combat is clunky - the game is trying to imitate the souls franchise and other FromSoft games, such as Sekiro. However, they don't understand that when you're trying to make an intensely challenging game, the mechanics need to be polished to perfection. When an enemy attacks 2-3 times in the span of a second, you tap the block button and Sekiro parries every single one. The Sekiro comparison applies more to J:FO since both games rely on parry as a core mechanic.

In Fallen Order, the combat isn't responsive enough to handle that style of game design.

    > No point in replaying the game, I finished it in 2 days via EA Access on the PS4, for $3.99.

    > Cosmetics are not interesting enough to encourage you to explore the planet further, which most of the time includes backtracking huge sections of the map.

    > It's canon, so they couldn't afford to change any story or take any creative liberties.

    > Story was generally not very interesting and didn't contain many characters I cared about or found interesting

    > Platforming is clunky

    > A lot of the mechanics copied from other games or franchises are more implemented as an imitation of those franchises and feel like they don't belong in the game.

    > Customizing your lightsaber is pretty pointless, outside of changing the color. The rest of the elements you don't really see most of the time.

    > Bad loot

    Conclusion
    -----------------------------
Waiting for the sequel, hopefully, the combat will be refined and polished and make playing on higher difficulties more tolerable.
A story that is set far before or after the events of the movies will allow for more creative decisions in plot and storytelling. Needs better loot and customization options. Needs more replayability content.

As a star wars fan I thoroughly enjoyed the different worlds and little touches like the cinematic as my ship took off from each planet. My main gripe, however, is that whilst the game aims to encourage you to explore each world for its own sake, and even go back to a world after you have done the main story there, there is very little reward for this and nothing really to push you to make that effort. The stuff you discover when exploring a world make little difference to the game - particularly finding parts for your lightsaber (they are purely cosmetic rather than adding anything meaningful) and for that reason can feel hollow in places. Overall the game delivers something fantastic - a proper Star Wars single-player, something that has been conspicuously lacking for years and really sets the tone for what I hope will be more of this type, but a focus needs to be had on making the rich worlds of the star wars universe worth exploring beyond completing the main missions. This is the best star wars game ever made. The story is amazing and perfect length with great villain's and plot twists. Cal is a fun person to play and the combat is very good to. The only reason it's not a 10 is due to the post story game there just isn't much to do after the story. But it is perfect everywhere else

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.
