Micro-transactions and DLCs have been getting slowly but surely more and more out of control. We have all complained about having to pay extra for something on top of the game, and perhaps we have all justified it too. "Oh well, they are adding a whole new map!" etc. But it's getting ridiculous. If we don't do something now, Battlefield 2 will be the stepping stone that allows other games and developers and publishers to follow suit, push the envelope and place another stepping stone and another and another, until before long Pay to Win full-price AAA games loaded with microtransactions and lootboxes become the norm. I discovered microtransactions in Star Wars: Battlefront II and the controversy has blown up in EA's face. I will not spend a dime on loot boxes after paying $60 for the game. They are preying on young children too. Let's boycott the game as users until this goes away.

The only good thing about this game is that it's put the gambling-like nature of buying loot boxes in games out in the zeitgeist. People completely unrelated to this game know about and holding it up as an example of corporate greed preying on consumers.

Lootboxes at their worst, yet typical for EA. They could have worked out a better way to get extra money from the game, so the people who already paid full price would not feel forced to pay possibly thousands of dollars (no joke, unlocking everything costs over a thousand dollars). In multiplayer, you can't even customize your clone/storm troopers or rebel soldiers. Everyone looks the same and you are forced to play as a guy if you want to play one of 3 classes and the 4th class forces you to play as a girl. You cannot choose which eras you want to play. I personally don't like the prequel era but I am forced to play that era whether I like it or not. And I am forced to play a generic male character that looks the same as everyone else, whether I like it or not.

Heroes vs Villains and Star Fighter assault are fun and those are the only 2 modes I play.

Obi Wan Kenobi is not in the game... yea... I don't even...

Now I would have given this game like a 4 rating because they said they will add cosmetic customization in the future and update the game frequently with new content. BUT, with the unforgivable, greedy progression system tied to lootboxes and micro-gambling... I can't I just can't...

TLDR: Campaign is garbage. Multiplayer is ok but no customization and lack of options. Progression system is greedy, evil and micro-gambling is disgusting.

Star Wars Battlefront II aims to become your religion assuming you feel the only way you can find happiness is to throw money in their offertory every week until you die or they find a bigger pot to accept donations. I believe you will find your money just as well spent on the diety you were raised to praise. Let's hope EA has a better track record with minors than the clergy.

Let me tell you something. Ignore all the positive reviews. They are just a bunch of normies who do not understand why this game is awful. This would have been a fantastic game but it was eaten by EA's corporate greed. It's disgusting and EA should be ashamed of themselves. We are winning the battle but not the war.

    Cons:
    - P2W lootboxes
    - 40 hours PER character with DAILY cooldowns
    - Game costs $2160, not $60
    - EA has always been a terrible publisher
    - Campaign is garbage
    - Multiplayer will be based on who has the bigger wallet

Do not support these business practice. This is a BAD GAME. It's not even worth the $10 when it's in the discount bin next year.

The microtransactions in this game are truly terrible; no matter how good the game itself is, the loot box/pay to win/ gambling system put in place will ruin anything good. The core game is fun, but I can't get over the loot boxes, it is truly pay to win and I will refuse to support it.

This game has great potential to be the best game of 2017. It is being held back by a company hungry for money and blind towards the playerbase, having a pay-to-win system implemented. Why play the game for 40 hours to unlock a reward when you can spend $50 to (potentially) unlock it?

This game was Only created as a shameful attempt to leech as much money from the consumer as possible. The whole game revolves around highly Pay to WIn elements and unlockables that alter your skills. EA truly is the worst gaming company out there and this embarassment of a game proves it. It shouldn't even be called a game, its that awful.

I'm not the kind of guy who goes in the extremes when rating, but SWBF II forces me to award the awful grade of 0/10 due to its pay-to-win policy and that despite spending $60, you still have to pay $2100 to unlock the whole game. We get it EA, you love money and milking your customers dry, but don't overdo it because this is backfiring at you now.

Unacceptable. If they had just made a Battlefront 2 remastered edition and gave the original more characters, weapons, maps and modes I'd be all over it. Instead it's this Call of Duty wannabe and that's just not ok. I miss my old Starwars Battlefront...

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
