Some people say its a wide ocean deep as a puddle, but i strongly disagree. If you like exploration/survival games, then this one is definitely for you. I must admit that the game was terribly overhyped, however, for me it delivered exactly what it promised. Beautiful, interesting and fun to play game.

No Man's Sky is an exploration game first and foremost. If you're into that, this is *the* game for you. If not, keep your money.

I honestly think the people here whom are giving this game low ratings just had unreasonable expectations of it. No, you can't build space stations or create civilizations. No, you can't enlist in the space army. Don't expect a singleplayer story either.

No, you can't enlist in the space army. Don't expect a singleplayer story either. Multiplayer seems to be absent too. Like I said, No Man's Sky is all about exploration. It has some survival elements, but the game isn't very challenging.

The game can get pretty repetitive as well. Half of the game consists of endlessly grinding materials for upgrades, to sell or to use as fuel. But all that gets diminished by the sheer size of No Man's Sky's universe, or at least in my opinion it does. It might not be worth €60, but I still recommend getting it, if you're into exploration games.

TL;DR: This game isn't for everyone. If you're not into exploration and endlessly grinding materials for upgrades, don't bother. If, like me, you enjoy this type of gameplay, No Man's Sky is a game you'll thoroughly enjoy.

I don't understand why people are giving this game such bad reviews. It's a game that is meant to be played periodically, not 20 hours straight. As you can see from the list, this is either a game you love or a game that you find very boring and can't understand what the rest of us are swooning over. And I'd agree they are spot on. A few other reviewers have made some good summaries: "Imagination required." "If you play Minecraft by climbing over the next hill and never settling down, this is for you." And I'd agree they are spot on. I've spent over 20 hours in this game now, and still get excited when I hit my warp drive and jump into a new system. What new planets will I find? What new lifeforms? Will the advanced alien race who lives there be one I know the language to already or will I be at a disadvantage. These are the questions that drive me and these are the reasons for me that No Man's Sky is an astounding game. For 15 minutes on one planet I stood atop a tower of gold, slowly thinking through how to harvest it without falling to my death or leaving any large sections out of reach. On another planet I spied some underwater caves, and spent time prepping my breathing tech and building power supplies so I wouldn't be caught without air in the dark recesses. And on a third, I cautiously circled a giant herbivore from a distance till I was sure it wouldn't act defensively, trampling me in fear. These are the wonders of this game, and obviously my willingness to suspend disbelief and pretend I'm in a fantastical space opera universe goes a long way to increasing my enjoyment. I find that when you look for the seams in the game - when you shine a light on what is basically just algorithms and facades built over indestructible guts, that's when the game dulls.

I love this game, I can't imagine not playing it for months on end but I also know that at some point the repetitive nature of tasks may start to wear thin. But all games are repetitive I would argue. Halo was a great game but it does boil down to maybe two dozen different tactics.

If the question is if this is a good game or a bad game, my opinion is that it's a great game. What Hello Games has created here is something I've never seen in another game to this degree with the resources they had - on a console no less. If the question is will you like this game, hopefully you read other reviews and try to match up the kind of gamer you are with the reviewer. All I can say is if you're the kind of person who plays a game of Minecraft as an exploration survival game, your structures serving a functional purpose before fashion. If you played Mass Effect and wished you could drive the Mako over the horizon or visit more random planets in the hope of finding a new little secret. If you thought Halo's 2 gun only inventory management was strategic and didn't long for the "carry it all" mentality of Doom. Well, then this game will likely keep you enthralled for as long as you let it. No Man's Sky is a virtual holodeck of fun - just don't try to find the walls of the room or the limits of the AI's programing.

However, it is not a game for everyone. It is not a Sci Fi epic where you go around telling awesome stories. It is not an Grand Scale Strategy game where you can make your own space empire.

It is a game that is more akin to Minecraft. You walk around an infinite universe, and make discoveries. That is it. If this does not appeal to you, then I would suggest you either wait until a future update adds in something you like, or skip this altogether.

As it is right now, No Man's Sky is almost exactly like Minecraft. There's not a lot to do, and for the most part you're just going to be running around the place doing the same things over and over again. But with time, future updates, and a little help from the (good parts) of the community, this can become something spectacular.

You define how you want to experience the game. Sure, there is some repetition but that is solely in how things are done. It's a beautiful experience filled with amazing music.

Let me give you an example, after a few hours of play. I decided I wanted to research the alien language. I have been exploring each planet, seeking out the alien wrecks, meeting other aliens and trying to find more words. It's been a blast. Along the way, I have been trying to build my standing. They have given me new items and gifts in this pursuit. A friend of mine is purely interested in gaining cash, he documents every single thing he sees. He goes to the space station, notes prices ans trades to build up a wealth so that he can buy whatever he wants. Another friend is out trying to visit as many planets as possible. He's committed to managing resources and exploring the universe, one planet at a time.

For those expecting a story, narrative, cinema cut scenes and the like, don't buy it. This is not your same old boring game that everyone else plays. This is about imagination, creativity and pursuing goals. If you need your hand held and you need to "beat" the game, you are missing the point. Entrancing for the first few hours. Once the novelty of travelling to different planets wears off as they all become the same, the game loses its appeal all at once. Collecting resources is as much fun as vacuuming, and the game gives you a universe-sized carpet.

The controls are a bit odd but after just a few minutes of playing you get used to them and find they work very well.

The survival aspect is there for those who want to venture off away from their ship and is avoidable enough to be a background feature for those that don't want it with room for everything in between.

Space combat starts off all fingers and thumbs but, again, once you have played it for an hour or so and have accumulated more than 5 minutes of space combat you get the feel for it and it is a very enjoyable experience.

Graphics wise it is excellent! Bar a view-drawing distance that can't be changed I cannot fault the visuals especially considering the variety. Though it is obvious that it is like lego with set pieces that can be put together by the procedural generation and that more parts are needed to help stave off the feeling of "this looks similar".

The game has its issues, glitches, bugs, crashes and balance issues in some areas. But this was to be expected. Since the days of games spending 5 years in development are gone, with most if not all the of the made up time being spent on QA this is just the way of things now and we have only ourselves (the consumer) to blame. Hello Games has responded by hiring a massive support team and new head of QA with a new ticketing system starting Monday the 15th of August and are already hard at work on patches and workarounds along with FREE DLC.

    In conclusion:
This game is a simple, chill game that I have already sunk 20 hours into and I don't see me slowing down anytime soon. It is an uncomplicated game that allows the escapist in me to zone out from my world and just fly, shoot, mine, explore and even try and discover the story...its there, just hidden a bit too deep for most people to be bothered to find.

The game was over hyped and those who feel disappointed have to realise that the speculation of some fan blogs and even the odd periodical could never have been realised by a developer this small.

Well done Hello Games, now fix those issues, get me my DLC!

    - a meditating experience on planets with lush purple alien-grass while scanning the obscure wildlife or...
    - a trading simulator where you have to think very carefully which resources you take on your journey and when to sell them for the best possible price etc.
It's no game for the typical Call of Duty player, because you have to take your time and get into it.

So i had to create an account just to go to bat for this game. Anyone complaining that the game is trash is just not really understanding what type of game this is. Likely they were swept away with their own expectations. For me personally the game is on a 9 or 8.5 level due to some of the technical issue. I think that the 7.0 metacritic score is deserved. The 4.9 user rating is not.

NMS is a departure from the relentless bludgeoning the AAA industry has given us with FPS and adventure game ad naseum. It's something I didn't even think was possible as a kid, and it's a little frustrating to read so many negative reviews from kids who don't understand how lucky they get to grow up with this level of gaming at their fingertips. We could put some of you COD fans on a real space ship with NASA and you would be bored.

No Mans Sky has flaws. It does. Environments don't fully pre-load fast enough. It needs more diversity of life forms. The water graphics look like N64.

But No Man's Sky makes you the captain of a ship that's rendered in beautiful pop-art style and creates a gaming experience that could re-angle the gaming industry in a direction many of us have hoped it would go for sometime.

For all of you who reviewed this 0-5: Call of Duty 17 - More Kill-Kill Soldier, is coming out soon. For the rest of us, let's enjoy a game that's a mix of art, poetry, exploration, and freaking Space Pirates.

This has been quite the adventure and it just started. 35 hours in. If you are interested if you should try this game out... which why else would you be reading this, then here is what I can say about it.

    1) The vastness is incredible! The awesome experience of warping to a new solar system and zipping and burning through re-entry then landing all within a minute is mind bogglingly cool and still after this many hours is probably the best experience.

    2) It's also very lonely and makes you feel insignificant. Couple this feeling with the fact that it compels you to move forward instead of stick around in one place or find every inch of a map, and you get a very unnerving feeling playing this game. This is where you start to see the hate and frustration from a lot of reviewers. "THERES NOTHING TO DO!!" or "ALL I DO IS GRIND CREDITS THIS IS STUPID". You have to have a little self reflection with this game and realize how programmed you are by other games. Want to get the best ship? ok knock your self out. Want to name planets after dirty limericks, go for it. Want to carve your own version of Mt. Rushmore, why not. But you will not get a game that presents a perfect "get to the castle" railroading playthrough. Instead it all comes down to letting go of whatever you think is the point and make your own point and be ok with making a new one:)

For example I was so focused on money for the first 10 hours. I found a planet with rare materials and I started to grind like crazy... until I realized, "What the F*@& and I getting all this money for?" the moment I let go of that self designed goal I realized how fun other things around me were. Like a desolate water planet I started cliff diving from thousands of feet high to snag pearls and explore the bottom of the ocean.

    Why? Because its fun.

    3) I have seen a lot of bugs from other reports but I must be lucky as I have had either none or they were so small that I can't even remember them. The "phasing in" of the landscape is a mild eye sore and is my guess on why the ship cannot be flown too close to the surface of a planet. I am guessing that at higher speed like a starship the details all phase in too slowly.

    4) You get attached to planets and wildlife. This is compounded by the realization that as you start to adventure out into the galaxy, there is no easy way to map your way back. But I take a few screenshots and leave some names of planets and learn to let go. I do hope that an update in the future will make a waypoint system that is more user friendly because like I said, you kind of make your own story in the universe and I would love the challenge of getting back to my first planet later on.

All in all, you have plenty of info out there about the game and the praises and complaints. It's certainly a different experience. I will sum up to say this game creates the same feeling that some of my favorite sci fi books did. It's a slow weird burn of a game.

Eventually, full forrests with giant rhinos demanding a that I keep clear.

The game is NOT for everyone. Survival elements are light enough that you aren't scraping by. Combat is simple enough against a limit roster of enemies. It dives head-long into exploration. So many planets. Some are boring rocks. Some are rich with life. But, as I found on the boring rock, numerous alien artifacts might be scattered around for me to steal.

This game isn't for everyone. If you are happy to enjoy a quiet, unique, and solitary experience, this is it. If you want multiplayer, combat depth, and a deep narrative presented to you, go elsewhere.

I found it with this game and that's why I wanted to share this with you.

I registered on MetaCritic in order to write this review, because I believe this game deserves a much higher rating than it currently received.

I have been looking out to this game since the first trailer came out (like, 2 years ago?). I'm 27 years old, and I game casually nowadays. This will not be a competitive game, or maybe in some future updates but not at the moment.

What I like about this game: the size. It's absolutely unimaginably big. And beautiful. I have visited around 10-15 planets, and some of them were absolutely amazing. I cannot stop thinking about how they fixed this randomly generated planet and it still looks almost better than some pre-created scenarios from other games.

Personally I think there is enough to do. I like the concept of Minecraft, and this game resembles it in SOME ways, but don't believe you are buying yourself a second Minecraft game. It's bigger (or more easily/fun to travel around), way more beautiful, different theme (space), the whole feeling is different.

    BUY IF:
You want to play a relaxing game after work/alone/with your girlfriend
Like the concept of adventure/discovering things
Like the concept of crafting things
    Like the concept of randomness
Want a game for your kids (I believe this is great for children; very child-friendly and learning wise much better than shooters etc)

    DONT BUY IF:
    You want action
    You want a shooter
You don't like to search a cave for 10 minutes, not sure what you will find
You don't like to travel a lot (the travel is beautiful, but you will travel a lot)

This is my personal opinion, I hope it may be of some help to some people. I'm really great I bought this and it's the first game in years that gets me that enthusiastic feeling. Thanks for reading!

New planets never cease to amaze, and getting into some dogfights protecting a cargo freighter or two will keep your pulse up.

The story has some nice depth to it. It's interesting; but also something that can be shared with the whole family (I often play with my 9 year old daughter). I am about 30 hours in and still learning and evolving my equipment.

The technical accomplishment of this game should not be pushed aside. Procedurally generating an entire universe of planets, plants, animals, and ships is amazing. And it works surprisingly well for the first release! Some of the planets are just incredibly beautiful; as I'm sure you've all see in the many screenshots. People complaining about graphics "pop-in" have evidently never played Minecraft. The world is actually being generated as you look at new areas; so just have a tiny amount of patience and things look fabulous.

The closest thing to compare this game to is Minecraft; and there is WAY more going on here than the first release of Minecraft. Granted it costs 2x the price of Minecraft; but it is well worth it for the number of hours of enjoyment you will get here. Imagine where Minecraft has come in the years since initial release...now imagine where No Man's Sky will take us!

This does not mean that it can not be boring for you at all: this game is single player and extremely repetitive and slow in his mechanics, so if you as gamer are in continuous search for new and different things to do and you need frenzy and PVP or cooperation with others to have fun just stay away. I gave a 10 for 2 reasons: the exploratory component and the infinite potential of the basic formula of this game . Exploration is the best ever seeing in a video game ever: planets are gigantic and even if they just have 1 single biome each these can be complex enough to reveal a lot of different combinations in the elements and create a variety of different environments. If you love pure exploration you will never end in doing it, but at the same time you will always have new places to go: 18.446.744.073.709.551.616 is a very big number of combinations. This enormity combined with the very simple mechanics of the game-play would normally bring me to sign an 8 as score, but I also have to consider the infinite number of improvements that both Hello Games and mod creators will be able to add to this base in the future. This potential is big as the number of planets: here we have an entire universe where every single thing imaginable could be added, more than enough for me to add 2 points to the final score. At the conclusion in my opinion No Man's Sky is an almost infinite sandbox game with a decent but slow and repetitive game-play and an almost infinite potential of growth: at the moment is not for everyone, but if it fits to you is fantastic. Blame Sony for the hype, the lead developer only wanted people to play his game that I'm sure he had grand intentions for. But you have to realize there is a lot of pressure when it comes breathing down from your bosses (Sony).

I can see why people don't like the menu design but it easy to get use too (if your not fussy) same goes for the hold mouse click, gameplay wise its fun and chill the music really immerses you in every world you explore and yes its an exploration game so the whole repetitiveness is a given for me the diverse worlds I met on my journey,so far has kept me playing like so many others.some planets are really hard to survive on and if you get stuck without the right materials to charge up Shields and life support you could face a quick demise. Trading isn't complicated and even fun for some people. Inventory upgrades are easy to come by if you're exploring planets. wildlife are weird and so alien you could spend a while just looking at there behaviours but they are buggy as hell but thats the charm of this game, you can just sit there and laugh at this t-rex looking thing with 5 legs and a horn sliding around or walking like a Monty Python sketch. Its a game you can dip in and out of you don't need to play it for 12 hours each day just take your time and enjoy a few hours chilling. Since then I have been counting the days. From the very first moment I started playing it lived up to my every expectation. The game is exactly what I saw in the gameplay Sean Murray demonstrated. If anything, it's more. For me, the idea of wandering an endless series of planets, scanning and naming them and the plants and animals thereon, and then taking off and moving to a new one was thrilling! But there's even more to it then that. I've been dismayed at what appear to be a bunch of typically "hardcore" gamer types who are used to getting a game and powering through it to maximum levels and then lording it over the universe the game creates. That actually doesn't work in this type of game, in no way, shape or form. The keening, whining, raging and crying was intimidate and immense. From **** about the actual mechanics of journeying, critical to the casual style and tone of the game, to whining about the lack of a clear ending or point at which I imagine they could be dominant, or multiplayer (so they could show off to their buddies or measure themselves against them I guess) they could not seem to connect that this game was not the same as all the others they had played before. Instead they flooded fan groups where people who loved the game were busy posting pics and discussing their zen moments of exploration to howl at their boredom and hurt feelings, seeming to mysteriously hold us and the game company responsible for their lack of understanding of the terms "single player game" and "free exploration." Raining hate everywhere, including spamming review sites with how "boring" the game was, when they spent no time on planets, simply mining and running. Meanwhile I have already spent close to 100 hours in the game and while I have discovered and named 5 systems and multiple planets, I backtracked to to my home world to make sure I 100% discover it and plan on doing that for each planet in each system I have discovered going forward before moving forward on the Atlas path. This game can last a lifetime if you let it, enjoy it, savor it. But if you have no imagination, or are a "hardcore, elite gamer" look elsewhere...this game is NOT FOR YOU! Expand

If you're a casual, "I play minecraft because there's no rush" type of person THIS IS YOUR DOMAIN. You belong here! You'll never run out of sights to see, things to do, even if things become kinda monotonous, there is an overall goal to achieve. Reach a certain level of units, upgrade your ship, upgrade your mining-tool, get to the center of the universe.

Sounds simplistic and straight-forward right? Not at all. Upon leaving your first planet you're tempted to sell some supplies and work on getting the parts for your hyper drive. In this time you'll be given an option at an Alien Monolith. "Follow the path of the Atlas" or "Explore freely". Following the path of the Atlas will lead you on a huge journey through space-time itself through many star-systems on a "loosely guided" zig-zagging story of alien archaeology, hallucinations and discovery.

Over time you'll find yourself annoyed with the repetition, but all I can tell you is, chill out. Smoke a bowl. Relax some more. Explore.
Graphics: 9/10, It's a beautiful game but currently has been plagued with framerate issues and stuttering. (not for me)

Sound: 8/10 INVENTORY FULL gets annoying very quickly. Wish there was variation in suit technologies voice. Aside from that, solid sound dev.

Gameplay: 8/10 Game CAN & most likely WILL become monotonous, but that's part of the fun. In real life if we were to explore space, many planets would be barren rocks, much like mars, venus etc. With this in mind, this is a very overwhelming universe that you'll never run out of things to do in. Every planet is planet sized, every star system is system sized. This game is exactly what we were told about the whole time. Can't complain.

OVERALL: 9/10 I was always hyped for this game and usually, hyping up kills the experience for me. Not this time. I thoroughly enjoy this game and intend on getting about 100 hours over the next week. If you do some research, the shader cache is what's holding the game back, but the longer the game runs the smoother it runs. Upcoming patches will attempt to remedy the framerate issues many players are experiencing as well introduce new game mechanics such as base building, new vehicles such as space freighters and "easter eggs" involving multiplayer..... Whatever that means.

SOLID game. GREAT INDIE game. MOST ambitious game of the decade.

The choice of direction in this game is exactly what Sean Murray and Hello Games has talked about from the beginning. It has been many hours of fun exploration, cataloging and lore learning from the get go.

    THE GOODS:
    - The ability to explore space without feeling claustrophobic
    - The plethora of land air and sea creatures YOU get to name and tag
    - The deep stories that are embedded in the game and its seemingly hidden agenda
    - The beautiful Colors and array of lands
    - The fact that you HAVE to learn to survive and learn how to use everything without a cheat sheet or guide.
    - The cool ability to write your own story in the universe that will be uniquely yours and your choice.

    THE BADS:
    - HUMAN EXPECTATION: We as people when given the opportunity to think for ourselves create our own fillers. so As this game leaves open from the beginning a universe with practically infinite options, our minds, before playing the game, have already created creatures, worlds, and adventures in our minds. This causes a dilemma as Hello games and Sean Murray have NO ability to read everyone's minds. They had a specific goal with the universe and implemented aspects to generate it. So if a persons creative ideas do not show up in this sandbox of a universe, they will immediately hate everything about it, which is not fair justification for saying its a bad game.
    - BIG BUSINESS: Unfortunately being in marketing I see and know if you have money, you can make anyone disappear. This is common in media outlets like movies, books and game reviews. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist but I think the fact that Hello Games has created something beyond a scope of imagination and only with a small team put them under a bulls-eye for larger companies to take hits on them. and just like in courts, if your adversary has more money than you and can hire more and better lawyers.. you're screwed. I would like to think better of big business but it be better to Hope Hello Games makes it through this attack.

    OTHER RANDOM NOTES AND THOUGHTS
I had NO expectation of this being a common multiplayer type game like all those other MMO games out there. I expected it to be one of my challenges to meet another player some day in this universe. yes supposedly two player were on the same planet and were not seeing each other... From the video I saw of it doesn't look clear enough to me that they were in the same place at the same "time" key factor.

The Game takes you on a virtual exploration of a universe as big as our own with practically infinite procedural outcomes for flora and fauna, layouts of land and sea, and an open universe to create your own story as you travel. A great thing about this game is its ability to allow you Free will to choose what you want to do. If you do not like the ability to make your own choices and want to have someone tell you where to go every step of the way this game is not for you.

I continue to find new wonders, and new intrigue in the alien factions and monoliths, an stories behind them all; all hinting at something bigger to the game then just what we see. I appreciate a challenge in games like this; one that tests your durability to daunting tasks (which every game has), one that tests your appreciation for HOW the games creates everything you are exploring, one that test your skills at chilling out and enjoying what's around you.

From the two years I spent following news on this game and the development of it. This game is not jsut meant for us but meant as a way Sean Murray has been able to create a childhood dream of his with a small team. And for me anyone who gets to experience their dreams in reality is VERY awesome. Not many of us have that chance and not many can make something as enormous as this happen with such a small team.

Overall I will say this is a Niche game market style game. It is a game that EVERYONE should play and learn to play simple for the wonderful meditative therapy of slowing down and seeing what is around you. This part of human life has slowly been disappearing right before our eyes and no one even knows.

This is just the type of game for me, Open world with nothing that pressures me to do something, which has always been my problem with the genre, for example in Skyrim I always felt Pressured to go straight to the quest objective without deviating from that path but in No Man's Sky I can do what I want without feeling like I should be doing that "Important" quest that needs to be done now. No one say's you need to get to the centre of the universe because if you don't do it the Universe will end or something else to that same effect, It's like "Hey Man the story is in this direction but you can do some completely random **** for as long as you want, i'll wait". I enjoy the flying mechanics and love customising bases and going around in the vehicles from the new patches. I don't mind mining, after all I've played minecraft for over a few hundred hours. but one problem I have is that there isn't enough sentient life on the planets, a few outposts here and there but otherwise nothing, If you say this system is controlled by the Gek then were are some cities or at least towns, but that doesn't bug me all too much. A game that continues to add and build upon a very shallow and expansive foundation, and with every update gets closer to becoming a game every space lover and explorer should own. Never have I felt a game with bigger potential and one that tries so desperately to stray from an on-rails experience in every respect. The universe is there, waiting for you to explore....but without your own motivations and need to do so, you will feel like No Man's Sky is a peculiar game with only as much substance as you give it. Just like real life, if you have no intention or desire to see the sunrise from the top of a mountain then you can not possible understand what motivates someone to make an early morning hike in pursuit of said view. This game is about the experiences and the journey of being a lonely space explorer discovering new worlds and trying to find their place in an endless universe which may very well be one giant simulation. What then is the motivation to take a step forward, to fly to the next system and plant the next flag on a barren unforgiving landscape, to brave hostile worlds for valuable resources which only add your journey forward...........

Only the true explorer among us will know.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No Man's Sky has been a great exploration game since its release, I don't care about the multiplayer missing and I don't think that actually important for the game since the universe is so big that meeting other players could be complicated (just try to travel to the Galactic Hub with a Class C ship from the northern section of the Alpha Vector). The updates made the game much better, with more things to do but still it is just a chill exploration game. I still get goosebumps everytime I land on a new planet. I'm still a very long way to te center of the Euclid Galaxy and I know what I'll find later in the game, I've done the Atlas Path and yes, it's not the best storyline ever, it's just a secondary quest to obtain the ability to locate black holes. Anyway, the game is just what they said it would be, I only miss the rotation of the planets, that was a personal bummer, and perhaps some more animals, but that's just because I have not found dinosaurs but other people have. Update 1.1 and 1.2 were great and 1.3 might bring multiplayer, so that should be it for that issue. You can get it cheap now (maybe that was a real problem when it came out, it was too expensive, maybe) and with the updates I think it is worth it. :) Expand

If you are looking for a PvP, combat game to play with teammates and enemies online, this is not the game for you. Even with the MP release, it is still not that experience.
If you came to look for a exploration, relaxing game, then this is you place. Now with NEXT update, it adds tons of new stuff that expand your gameplay in positive ways. Gotta love this

The NEXT update just released and this makes the game something else. It's gorgeous. It's like No Man's Sky 2.

It adds multiplayer and a ton of other features. We can build our own fleets now! It's amazing. Base building has been widely improved and you can do it everywhere on the planet now, even underwater. You build the base computer and if nobody owns that spot, it's yours. The

Base building has been widely improved and you can do it everywhere on the planet now, even underwater. You build the base computer and if nobody owns that spot, it's yours.

The tutorial is completely reworked and it introduces core mechanics earlier, like bases and freighters (I hear you get your first freighter free of charge, so that's neat).

They also reworked the enhancement systems for weapons and ship upgrades. It makes more sense now, at least for me.

Textures and procedural generation have been improved, along with new animations and a character model with full customization. You can play with other races, too!

It's a breathtaking game. All new features that comes after today is going to be a plus.

Following two years of enhancements, the game is now unrecognisable to that released in 2016. Significant new content and well considered changes to the story and game play loops make this the game promised, and a must play experience for any fans of Sci fi, spare exploration, base building or survival.

While I’m sure developer Hello Games is still tweaking things and perhaps even creating more content for No Man’s Sky, the current state of affairs is a strong one. This galactic opus still offers an infinite amount of content for those who want to lose themselves among the stars, but now also contains a concrete throughline that will satisfy a wider array of players. It can be irritating at times, but it’s also full of stunning moments and the satisfaction of building a virtual life among the stars. Four years after launch, it’s finally a journey worth taking.

The world of No Man's Sky is insanely vast and beautiful, but there’s nothing to do in it! There’s no goal, no destination, no ending, nothing!

While No Man's Sky is engrossing for the first few hours, repetition starts to set in and the proceedings grow dull. The developers stated that they plan to add significant features such as base building which could dramatically change the game for the better. There's a promising foundation present, so it's possible to envision a more substantial game down the line. As it currently stands, though, our excitement to cross the universe faded sooner than we expected.
