so glad I was not part of this kickstarter. they really should have made it a one hit kill on normal for the entire stage. the bosses are horrible. gameplay is frustrating and a nightmare. if you are going to make it this ridiculous, don't ever make another game ever again. this is why we should have a refund system.

Finally after all the delays, MN9 releases...and it's mostly dead on arrival for me. My PS4 copy crashed to desktop on day1, each time when I got to a robot master. Needless to say, that sucked as a first impression so I just quit the game and played something else.

Day2, alright time to get some serious levels done. Holy hell do these levels suck. It's classic mega man level design,

Day2, alright time to get some serious levels done. Holy hell do these levels suck. It's classic mega man level design, further twisted by whatever idea Inafune had in his head at the time. Feels like a case of "too many cooks in the kitchen".

As for combat mechanics, the dash *is not* strong enough to build an entire game around. It's finicky, whether it stops you just short of an absorb-able enemy or can't keep responsive during intense moments. This is my biggest problem with the game, if you implement a nice dash feature like that it better be ultra-responsive....to the point of being able to dash in and out of situations with no input delay.

Cant care about the story since it's essentially megaman in what looks like a Chinese knock-off skin. But the English voice acting is all types of late 90's horrendous, as if cardboard was given consciousness and told to speak into a microphone.

Like many many others, I'm disappointed with this game. Worst thing I've ever backed.Playing Azure Striker Gunvolt....which funny enough is what Mighty Number 9 *should've* been. Better story, better mechanics, better level design, cheaper game.

    Kamiya was right.

Seems to be the fashionable thing to dogpile this game and rip it a new one. Especially as a backer. And as it is, it's mostly deserved.

Gameplay wise, it's okay. But I don't care for how much it gears itself to pander to speedrunner/leaderboard culture. You have to dash through enemies to actually kill them. It creates a sense of pressure to get through the stage fast, but then you

Gameplay wise, it's okay. But I don't care for how much it gears itself to pander to speedrunner/leaderboard culture. You have to dash through enemies to actually kill them. It creates a sense of pressure to get through the stage fast, but then you deal with lots of level hazards, and odd design choices like pits which don't indicate you're supposed to do down them. So you're being cautious while trying to hurry through.

I'd be more forgiving of the challenges the game offered if certain things didn't have such sloppy design. For example, in one level, there's a turbine half an inch off the ground that you're supposed to dash under. In the demo, it was a problem that I thought they'd fix. But they kept it, and just added a hint. But for something that's all about speeding along, it really grinds the pace to a halt trying to figure out the right distance to stand from when dashing through.

Also, with the dashing through enemies to kill them, you have to for bosses, and if you don't in enough time, their health regenerates.

Visually, it's not as ugly as most of the screenshots have shown. A lot of parts are, but some small segments show promise... But then the frame rate randomly drops every once in a while.

The dialogue is pretty bad, like 90s Mega Man cartoon bad. Again, not a game killer, but there's quite a bit of it throughout the levels, so it's mildly annoying.

It doesn't deserve all the piss it's been getting flooded on it. I'd give it a 5/10. But with the combination of how poorly handled its development and kickstarter campaign were, as well as knowing it's supposed to be filling the boots of Mega Man which have been left empty for a while, this is hard to get behind. But hey, it's better than nothing.

Functional. But..the charm of the megaman games just isn't there. Looking to get a return on it from PSN. Bland visual style, bad voice acting, levels seem a little bland and there are even framerate drops in some areas. Didn't the game receive some 4 million for it's budget? Wtf happened??

This game is mediocre at best. I am truly baffled at how this game raised around $4 million dollars on kickstarter, had around 3 years of development time (with multiple delays), and STILL managed to come out a disappointment.

PROS: - Using the dash ability to rack up combos can be fun and rewarding. - The soundtrack is decent I guess, but I've heard better from previous Mega Man

    PROS:
    - Using the dash ability to rack up combos can be fun and rewarding.
    - The soundtrack is decent I guess, but I've heard better from previous Mega Man games.

    CONS:
    - Graphics are just plain ugly overall (explosions look laughably bad).
    - The game suffers from frame rate drops, which is unacceptable given how bad the game looks.
    - Dialog is neither good or funny, and the voice acting borders from decent to downright obnoxious.
    - Abilities you get for defeating robot bosses are practically worthless, with the exception of 2 or 3.
    - Level design is the BIGGEST issue I have with the game though. Levels can be very archaic and basically come down to trial and error. Traversing levels can feel tedious and frustrating, instead of feeling fun and challenging. There are many instant death hazards scattered throughout levels (some of which are hidden off camera, which just makes the game even more frustrating for beginner players).
    - The final boss is very anti-climatic and incredibly tedious to fight. The fight just drags on for way too long.

This game did have potential, but there are too many flaws holding it back.

Mighty No. 9 is a stinky No. 2.

I have waited so long to say it. I was so hyped for this game when it was first announced on Kickstarter but after three long years, all we are getting is a sub par action-platformer that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Mega Man. Keiji Inafune better not show his face on Kickstarter again.

A nonsensical game, some poor graphics after Keiji Inafune beg for money for Kickstarter, we thought we were going to get a megaman-like successor with a very high budget.

What a great game disappointment for all platforms 4/10

Instead we get a lazy rushed experience with some fun bits every now again. With $4 million dollars in funds given from the fans, all the backers of this game are crying like an anime fan on prom night.

Story:What there's a story in here? Yep and it terrible. It is told though the laziest 3D animated cut-scenes where the character don't move at all, NOT EVEN THEIR LIPS MOVE WHEN THEY TALK! It's even more insulting that after the final boss fight you get three anime-quest picture with no voice acting to tell the end of the story. Then they have the nerve to have an end credit cut-scene with the same lazy animation, trying to setup a squeal that this series will probably never get. The voice acting itself is ok, if the story was good or even necessary in this action platformer.

Gameplay. There nothing that bad about the gameplay aspect.........for the most part. You have your shoot, jumping and dashing that you would expect from a game like this. The problem comes from the level design. Every environment is forgettable and have tons of cheap one hit deaths. There is a difference between a game being hard and a game being cheaply hard and in some of area of this game, it is cheaply hard. Stupid narrow spaces with no room to do anything, with a simply jump that's bit higher that you wanted and boom, your dead, There are some fun and fast pace moment and hell, even one level that had a real cool idea, but this fun is few and far between. Also to note there is one level in the game that's complete unnecessary. You play as a girl named Call for one level and her controls feel off and out of place. That level was a chore to get through.

Presentation: GARBAGE! This game looks like a PS2 game and has multiple issue despite is low end graphics. On PC the game would go as fast as 60 FPS and go as slow as 20 FPS. That's not because of my PC because even the highest end PC are having the same problem, its even worse on PS4 and Xbone. As I said for the story, the cut scenes are the laziest thing I have ever seen. I don't know about consoles but while playing this game it also crashed 10 SEPARATE times while I was trying to get through the campaign. For a game that looks like this, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Soundtrack The music is okay but it is mostly forgettable. I hate how every boss, except for the final one, has the same boss music. That's just embarrassing. There only one song I really like and remember and that was the final boss music.(I'll link it below in case you want to listen)

Conclusion: This could have been a fun game. All the aspect of gameplay to make a good game are here but this is muddied with laziest. Terrible story, unimaginative and forgettable levels, framerate issues and crashes, all while the creator want to all ready focus on a squeal. There's a bit of fun to be had but if you really want to play it but wait until its on sale for $5 and you will need to be a BIG fan of Megaman. For everyone else this is a title I recommend skipping.

What a travesty. Alright, it had redeeming qualities, but it was really an awful game with bad level design and downgraded graphics, yeah it will certainly not be remembered as a good game by many, thankfully.

The worst about this game, is that it looked so great, but unfortunately it came out as unfinished with poor controls and mediocre level design.

After years and years of waiting, I was trying to get an answer why Mighty No. 9 went through so many delays until they finally arrive right here. It turns out that all the serious hype that they promised me and the rest of diehard fans of the popular Mega Man games.... Two words: Big Mistake.

After a long period, guess what else Mighty No. 9 quickly delayed, again, goddammit it's going to be delayed on the XBOX 360. Seriously? This is not going to be good to be this pile of turd than its underwhelming poor sales and bad timing to promote the game. Deep Silver (Square Enix's parent company) tried everything they can, but just like Homefront: The Revolution, nothing work. So I could imagine what it feels like Mighty No. 9 should've been the passion project experience but like a parody of itself. Much like the time when Bugsy just crapped the 90s than a bowl of cat litter.

Mighty No. 9, to me, is an unfinished schlock of an less inspired Mega Man game. The loading times are just terrible spending a few short hours burying my hole to watch a creepy linage of a Fox Kids cartoon. The graphics are in more form a step down to what other platforming titles like Ratchet and Clank still brings me back great memories why I owned a beloved console called the PS2. And last but not least, how wrong is the awkward voice acting, insecure cutscenes, and the level designs are just too damn ridiculous. And aw, you may be thinking that its designs are a lot worse than Sonic The Hedgehog's 3D outing, right? Right, well almost. But as bad as this was, it's a shame that Inafume promised to be his baby but with little less flair despite the roller-coaster laundry lists of controversies surrounding the game and its (alleged) successfull Kickstater campaign.

Bottom line is don't spend too time playing this game otherwise it'll just be a hard time to open its damaged wounds and not recovering from its swollen memory. This is perhaps now I'm calling Mighty No. 9 as one of the most overhyped games ever. Nothing like an unfinished game on a sour note. I wonder why someone from their website actually said with the words "Prepare the Mighty!" I wonder who come up with that idea, Lou Ferrango from Hercules? Nah, that was way off. I'm sorry. So don't spend your $60.00 at Gamestop cause this will be the last time I ever hear from a broken game again.

Level design seems inconsistent, most sidescrollers hazards have a prompt some of MN9's seem
instantaneous or punish you before you have a chance to learn (or worse, punish you while or after they reward you). Megaman games usually have enemies who drop health or weapon energy, this seems to be replaced with a system that stores energy from enemies you "dash" through, to access this you have to pause/stop the action. it ruins the flow of action. weapons are uninspired. I-frames are something meant to act as a grievance and learning tool for players, there's none of that if not minimal. Other parts of levels rely on poorly explained mechanics and force you to play a specific way because if you don't, you'll lose health or your life.

It's a poor imitation of Megaman, in fact, just get a Megaman or Megaman X collection to feed your nostalgia, they usually play much much better.

Level design is Bad and not fun.

And do I have to say about the graphics?
Look at the prototype they had in one week showing of and saying how good they are at making games, and look at this, 3 years later.
When a game have a postponement we expect that to bee for a good cause and the game be better then it was to be.

Some stages have 3 extra lives and some have 0. A lot of things pointed out in Beta that needed polish or to be fixed never were. Despite clearly taxing my xbox one the graphics are nothing to write home about, indicating very poor optimization. They had nearly an extra year to polish the game while they worked on "netcode issues" and they didn't do anything to polish it. As for the whole reason this needed netcode? Leaderboards and a co-op feature I can't even find on the menus? At it's core there was potential here, and there are some occasional sections that are fun, hence why it doesn't get 0 stars.
