    The game is fairly fun but gets repetitive quite quickly. The game is riddled with bugs that make the gameplay experience bad. I've seen a bug where the starting mission doesn't show up which pretty much is a soft lock situation. I've seen bugs in the HARM room where the AI doesn't attack you at all. All of the Avengers have somewhat of a different gameplay style but what's missing is that some of the Avengers don't have a move that breaks walls. This means that if you are playing solo, you miss out on any loot/secrets that require wall breaking since your AI companions won't break the wall for you. Another sad thing is they only really put 4 villains in the game as fights, but only 3 of them are actually unique. There's 2 other bosses but those are generic and annoying to fight.

    Overall, the game is average and still really needs bug fixing. It's one of those games that shouldn't have been released yet because it feels so unpolished. There's some really good ideas here but not enough variety post game.    … Expand

    l was actually pretty hyped for this game as l am a marvel fan, but this game turned out to be what l was afraid. I don't understand why devs chose to go Anthem way when they could have made something amazing. Why would l want to grind while l am playing as Hulk? Just let me cause havoc. A huge wasted game.

    By far one of the worst games I’ve ever played. Combat is pretty terrible. The campaign is single payer only, no multiplayer. Matchmaking is a joke. I sit in lobby for 2 hours to find someone to play with in multiplayer and by the off chance I find someone to play with, they are stationary at the starting point of the game. Ridiculous. What a waste of money. Worst game I’ve ever bought. Not even close to what the trailers show you. The trailer is literally the first level of campaign mode. Where you play all the characters by yourself. No crazy set pieces in multiplayer, just mundane fetch quests with enemies that are way to hard to beat for a superhero. This game had promise. It was meant to be fun. I honestly have no fun in sitting in a lobby waiting for other players to join then doing fetch quests leveling up my gear for the next fetch quest. Whoever made this game are complete idiots. This is the worst game I’ve ever played on a technical level, and I’ve probably played all AAA games ever made. Trust me this is not the Avengers game that you want. Graphics are outdated too. What a wasted of a brand. Go F**k yourself Marvels The Avengers. I hope you don’t steal. I hope you don’t steal money from anyone else. If you like this game you are a pleeb with no motivation or a brain. You can go f**k yourself too. You don’t belong in gaming.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is for the campaign mode not multiplayer. Some of the combat is fun but a lot is really repetitive. Don't really like the whole run to a room to fight waves of generic enemies just to run to the next room where you rinse and repeat. Seemed to be a lot of mindless button mashing. Being forced to switch characters so often was a drag too. Just when you start enjoying the game play of one you have to switch. Maybe the campaign is just an intro into the multiplayer. Do yourself a favor and play Ghost of Tsushima instead.… Expand

    The Loot system is really the biggest problem with this game, most missions are ranked higher than your power level and gear and difficult even on challenge 1, but for some stupid reason you keep getting gear lower than the gear you have on, even the reward for finishing a challenging mission gives you gear lower than what you have.

    There feels like there are things forced in just to add more and it was very half assed with the gear. The one thing that really upsets me is to get a skin you might like is 14 freaking dollars. That's rediculous. I would consider it if they were five but paywalls are just stupid to me. The game has potential and can be fun. It feels a lot better since the beta no doubt. The story and graphics are pretty good, The fighting feels to be the better part but still nothing compared to other super hero games I have played. It's a shame games are released and then improved instead of being where they should be when they release. I hope things get better but I can't even convince my friends to play it with me because it costs too much for what it gives to make it worth their while.… Expand

    I know alot of people have alot of issues with the game but I am going to give it it's own space to build itself up. For me the game is overall good. I may be one of many who enjoyed the beta and is just being patient until the game updates itself. For us who like the avengers and is going I with an open mind I think you'll enjoy it.     Keep your expectations well put and the game could surprise you.     The multiplayer is decent but will hopefully improve. There is promise in future favorites such as Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. Also the work done with Kamala Khan comes across excellently as you experience the highs and lows of what she goes through in the story. And I believe one of the best things I can say about this game is the campaign is engaging. The combat is best em' up with cinematic platforming. Throw in some RPG elements and customization and you have a decent game. But it's a good game likely due to the promise of more to come , but for how it is right now it's great.    … Expand

    One of the worst games I’ve ever played. Areas drop to like 3 fps, motion blur is sickening, enemies and enemy varsity’s or boring, almost no bosses and has the worst kind of mobile like monetization.. it’s a full priced game too. Has $20 skins. No thanks

    Okay, it doesn't compare to Batman Arkhan and Maver Spider-Man, but it's not a bad game. His campaign is short, there are missions that are very repetitive, but there are legal missions and the story is good. It's not a big game, but it's entertaining.

The combat is generic and lazy and the animations are jarringly robotic.     Beyond the game play as a whole I'm going to criticize the way this game is being advertised and monetized. With companies like Verizon and Intel having skins in the game like one big advertisement for the companies and only giving people who use these products/services the chance to get these special skins. PS4 users are also getting Spider-man locked beyond some terrible console exclusivity. Insomniac already showed how to make a proper super hero video game and now Square Enix is shoveling out this embarrassment as an easy cash grab.

    I would only recommend this game to someone who is purely looking to play it for the story, but honestly no matter how good the story is you'll be suffering through the excruciating painful combat.    … Expand

    It's okay. A bit of a mixed bag, but the single player campaign is great fun. There's definitely bugs and it can be kinda glitchy. Combat is great sometimes, other times it's incredibly frustrating. Kamala Khan is fantastic, though the looks of the rest of the Avengers is pretty tough to get used to. The loot is straight up weird.

    I am giving it an 8 out of 10 due to the great single player campaign. It's multiplayer is still better than anthem. It's not as bad as people say, it's really pretty good, just needs a little more polish. I don't like games as a service by The Division 2 I love so it's growing on me. If they would've marketed the single player more it would've had a better score. I would rent it first.

    The campaign story was good enough to kept me interested. Controls were a little wonky at times, and I hated when it chose to force you to play a particular character. The repetition and "grind" are expected from the genre and since its a PvE game transaction don't really affect the experience. I look forward to seeing what heroes they plan on introducing.     Marvel's Avengers is not bad and its not good either. It's simply a in between being bad and good. The game is short and after about an hour its gets repetitive. There is alot of potential for this game and hopefully with constant and regular updates the game will become what we all wanted it to be. In its current state it should have been free to play

    Its just a shame that a game this expensive still pushed you to spend more money. How can a brand with so many famous characters fail. A so so story and short gameplay is all this is.     The problem is that Crystal Dynamics wanted to make a live service game without knowing how to actually make it. And because they designed it as a GaaS, there is no skill in this game's combat system, unlike the 2 games developed by    Marvel's Spider-Man (and spin-off Miles Morales) on PS4 and PS5 is a marvel of a game. Marvel's Avengers is the exact opposite of a marvelous game.

    The problem is that Crystal Dynamics wanted to make a live service game without knowing how to actually make it. And because they designed it as a GaaS, there is no skill in this game's combat system, unlike the 2 games developed by Insomniac Games. You just have to deal damage to sponges, unleash powers and ultimates, and heal yourself, just like you would if you were playing a MMO. This design decision contradicts the very nature of superheroes. Can you imagine, for example, the Hulk being kicked in the ass by puny robots one quarter his size and them not being smashed with one hit? Or Thor swinging Mjolnir into human enemies and them still being alive after the hit? That's what we see in this game.

    I managed to play just the intro (which is easily the best part of the game) and a couple early missions where I had to deal with waves of spawning and re-spawning enemies in enclosed arenas for an eternity. Then I had enough. And that little girl Kamala Khan aka Miss Marvel is actually very annoying, on top of being a forced diversity/woke/SJW BS.

    On PS4 performance is capped at 30 fps, but good luck with all the 20 fps drops when the action really heats up with dozens of enemies on screen.

    Yeah, I hate MMOs and loot-based games such as Destiny and The Division. But I'm pretty sure even people who like these genres would really dislike Marvel's Avengers. And I'm surprised we got a GaaS game by Square Enix instead of EA or Activision. I just wish Disney had allowed Sony to make an Avengers game.    … Expand

    I couldn’t finish it. I wanted to, it was sorta interesting to see where the story goes, but the gameplay... is just so.... damn.... boring! Game design is awful here, I was almost making myself play the game. Couldn’t stand it, had to delete, it brings no joy, it’s as if someone in the development team was trying to suck all the fun out of gameplay on purpose :(

    This game is a lot of fun! Excellent campaign, each team member plays differently, more stuff to come. I don't really play multi-player so if that's buggy, oh well. lots to do, and it's just really fun. looking forward to seeing how it evolves down the line. Back to it!

    I really like Marvel movies. I didn´t expect a deep dive story like The last of us but nice Action with my favorite Heroes.
    I think the game would be great if they developed the singleplayer Campaign more and focused on an linear Action Adventure more than a Games as a Service, but MONEY.

    The microtranctions are running me the wrong too, here's somethings:

    1. Somethings are just too expensive, some of the skins translate to $10 and I am not one to automatically dismiss cause of microtranctions but this was too much, thankfully, it does now shove the microtranctions in your face, but it is scummy

    2. Takedowns being cosmetic? Seriously?

    That's all I have to say, I'm disappointed, Buy Spider-Man 2018 or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 or wait for Miles Morales later this year    … Expand

    Repetitive an buggy, this game has been nothing but a dissapointment for a teu Marvel fan!!! Spent 5 hours trying to play the game and have just now requested a refund of my money over Steam. Not worth the play as rhe mechanics are terrible!

It’s a lacklustre Avengers game with surprisingly only 3 boss fights and we’ve already seen two of them in the games marketing /beta. The only moments that were interesting where the scenes which literally copied the MCU. It gets repetitive due to constantly fighting robots that are damage sponges.     If your looking for a fun game this is a great purchase. Yes there is a couple of bugs hear and there but will ironed out over time. nothing major in my play through. You can play as any avenger level them up and yes there is a diffrence in your power when you level up. There are microtransactions but you can unlock it all through the challange card abyway.     In its current state, wait until sale due to a fair share of bugs/glitches/frame rate issues, particularly found in its story campaign. Although some of them were unintentionally hilarious, they were ultimately immersion breaking which will cheat most people out of their first-time experiencing what is for the most part a well written story, if not an unfortunately short one. I feel like it shows a lot of potential, but would've wished the story-story to be another 10 hours. Obviously their main focus is on its endgame and loot, but it feels like a missed opportunity. I'm also worried of the longevity of its endgame is asides from levelling up your characters and managing to get the cosmetics you're after. I'm already at lvl 50 for Black Widow and she's feeling pretty stacked as is, so once I level up the others then what? Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal have A LOT of work ahead of them to keep its endgame fresh, let alone running properly on current console. There's certainly a lack in environments, enemy variety, and level verticality. Sometimes there's the odd change, but then you realize oh I'm entering a re-used asset moments later. The game overall is fine, but because it's The Avengers who are beloved by Marvel fans, I hope its post-game support exceeds expectations and its post-launch state is a distant memory for how far it's come since.… Expand

    There are the issues of the overly overpriced microtransactions, but it is not something that I care too much about, but it is a valid criticism and I would have appreciated that a Legendary skin didn't kost 14 dollars. Some people will be buying them, while someone will just go through the incredibly slow loop of ways to get cosmetics in the game without spending any more money.

    It is okay compared to other kinds of Marvel games in the past, but doesn't come near to the quality of Spider-Man PS4, but what did I expect? I bought the game, because I had been intrigued by the story through the beta and wanted to play more and I did like the gameplay, but I would have wished that it isn't so repetitive, when thinking about you have to do everything over and over again in order to get enough money for cosmetics.

    I had expected that I would have gotten enough units throughout my playtime, so I could buy a legendary skin from the cosmetics vendor, but I only got 2500 units and a legendary skin costs 7000. The grinding in this game will be insane. I just hope that the future updates and heroes will bring new fun into the game, so I don't get bored of it too fast.    … Expand

    I genuinely waited for this game and was very excited for it . I played the beta and was kind of disappointed but when the full game released I really enjoyed the campaign & had a blast using all the characters. In the beta some characters felt boring or not fun but in the full game they all feel fun , I have no idea if they changed something or I wasn’t playing right . But all in all II genuinely waited for this game and was very excited for it .     Does it have flaws, sure. But it has a good story, the graphics are great, the voice acting is wonderful, and I think this game was made for next Generation Hardware. There a lot of annoying little things will get fixed in the next few months. I think over all, as far as games as service go it has the best platform for growth and its the most complete launch to date.

Unfortunately all the missions are typical linear dungeons... Characters are quite balanced. And again... unfortunately, there is not enough content at the moment and the multiplayer coop does not work well.Pretty good game.     The game is great and have a lot of room to improve. Frame rate drops in PS4 version when your fighting a lot of enemies. Other than that the story mode was better than I expected and the characters play just how you would want them to play. Thier is a lot to do in the game before and after the campaign.

I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, but I don’t think I enjoyed that game as much as this. It’s definitely not as risky. You may read some criticism that it is very similar to destiny. This game is made with a lot of heart. What really interested me was the interactions between Marvel characters. Most of the characters speak and act as I have always read them to. And i’m excited to see what the new roster will bring. I don’t think people who like the MCU may enjoy this game, but authentic comic fans will be thrilled to see this new narrative. I have already put in 30 hours and feel like I’ve barely touched the surface. With new updates incoming soon, I am finally enjoying 1 thing in 2020.… Expand

    This is a really well made game especially for comic book enthusiasts. The game is surprisingly well made and is really good despite the criticism it has gained prior to it's release. If you are into comic book superheroes and certain looter and RPG elements, then this game is a must play.

    Then there's co op, where the game pits you with 4-players in a open environment to collect loot and help NPCs. Its a decent arcade style looter that can be fun in short burst, however It lacks content to really make this replayable, as all you do is mop adds, secure a zone, destroy and progress to an escape route, in random order.

    I REALLY dislike how the loot is pure stat based and the cosmetic is entirely separate - lots of separation here.

    When its all said and done, the biggest hurdle Crystal Dynamics has to overcome is its consistent bug issues; clipping through worlds, camera running amoke and game break bugs that haults campaign progression. Avengers is exciting and you should look forward to it, but don't expect it to be a seamless experience, its not.    … Expand

    The story is good, the gameplay is good, but missions are repetitive and bug and performance issues are a real problem. Hope that with post launch updates the game can become less buggy and more variegated. For now it's a good game with some problems, but higly enjoyable

There is a serviceable campaign that you can play without leaning to heavily into the gaas (games as a service) style design.     Crystal dynamics did good work here. The story is good, the characters loveable , the combat deep if you truly want it to be , the action is a fun time , the voice acting is top notch , and everything else " multiplayer " is a extra bonus . Not to mention their monatisation model is actually pleasently fair " everything is gribdable " .

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
