    Marvel Avengers was THE game I really wanted in 2020. I had high hopes, but then came the gameplay videos and the reviews. I waited til’ the Black Friday sale of the game and it wasn’t even worth 30$.. If you’re an completionist, like myself, then do yourself a favor and DONT BUY THIS GAME!! The story was extremely charming at the beginning and I really liked it.. then when you get toMarvel Avengers was THE game I really wanted in 2020.     Such a shame that the beloved Avengers were subject to a marketing ploy that is this game. If you are over 10 years old and are any kind of gamer above the most casual level, avoid this waste of time.

    The executive douchebags who decided to make it a "live service" game should be ashamed.

    I actually created an account to write how disapointed I am. Don't be fooled by the games title. It let's you play avenger from time to time, but after about 5 hours with the game, I can say that for majority of it, game makes you play unknown teenage girl, which is not only boring but simply bad character.     discount destiny with marvel characters, grindy gameplay lootboxes with cosmetic items upgrading your character is a grind, poorly written dialogues and Kamala Khan is forced into the story, awful faces on the character models, and all u do is punch robots in the entire game, what a disappointment.
    this game is trash!

Marvels Iron-man that focused on an Iron man origin story. just like a Batman game, you interact with other Avengers in the Avengers tower, with some of them playable as Co op just like Batman, Robin, Cat-woman and Night-wing. A compelling Iron-man open world story about how he became Iron-man and then trying to fight AIM or Hammer whatever.Imagine if this game was focused on one hero. This game especially with the HYPE and success of MCU and the sacrifice of IRON-MAN 3000 should have been the greatest Super Hero game out there. But greed made them miss the opportunity.     This movie is about a drama and action of superheroes who battle enemies. With super powers of universe. This move is as good as Deapool. Iroman is as good as Thor. Capitan America isnt good as Hulk. Watch this movie if you like action. The special effects are as amazing a Iroman. Wach this movie if you like the superheroes.

    This game is a buggy mess, the game will hard crash in mulitplayer with no option to reinviye your friends, enemies will despawn leaving levels impossible to beat, the AI companions will bug out and sit in a corner doing nothing game sounds can sometimes bug out and just not play at all.

    Completely unplayable and a broken mess of a game. Should have stayed in development for a few more months. For the people defending it because of name alone you are very pathetic. I'm a marvel fan my self but when so many people can't even play the game with out crashing let alone the endless bugs it has that is not worthy of praise.

    - The main story is REALLY enjoyable and takes you on a great journey. Kamala Kahn is cool, and voice acting spot on!

    - Graphics are lovely, and look forward to seeing rendering on nextgen / PC (once bugs are fixed)

    - All heroes feel very unique. Which lends to replayability.

    - The different hero skins, cosmetics and take-downs help give you a range of ways to customise your heros. Frustrating: - Loading times - Running around the hub/hellicarrier, slowly chasing vendors
    - Inability to view friends' inventories - UI / Gear screen moves very slowly - Lack of enemy variety (you mosly fight robots)
    - Limited bosses - Fighting lots of enemies often turns into a big mosh-pit, which makes creative fighting hard to pull off
    - Level design and game modes are limited and feel very repetitive after a while Future concerns:
    That the memorable thing about an Avengers game—the thing that keeps peopel playing—is loot boxes/grinding, is a crying shame. Marvel has such amazing stories, the mythos the lore is filled with great stpries. But post-campaign the story is lost to the loot grind! I worry that Crystal Dynamics, have missed a MASSIVE opportunity to be remembered for years to come, as the game that brought the comics to life.    … Expand

    Made an account just to rate this game. VERY clunky fighting mechanics. Glitching like crazy. Super repetitive. Had such high hopes. New patch even messed up frame rate on ps4.

    Sad that square enix can't seem to make a decent game anymore, that isn't a obvious cash grab. Only reason Im giving it a 3 is because to campaign story is actually really good, too bad its only about 10 hours, the rest is grinding, tedious, repetitive missions to be the best fan boy i guess.

    This game has an feature called Microtransactions. The thing that ruined the entire gaming industry. They just used the title Avengers to make another cash grab repetitive grindy microtransactions filled game that selld for a price that only complete games should be soldfor 60-80$.. Too little focus on story, hence the extremely short campaign. Disappointed, so much potential, just lost.

    When I saw that will be an Avengers game I was the happiest person in the world, I'm one of the biggest fans of MCU, I played 3times the beta and 5 .hours the main game, and it was a really waste of time... This game isn't good enough for that brand... I thought some of the voice acting in the game was kinda bad I was really disappointed in Troy Baker I thought his portrayal of Bruce was bland and his character didn’t add anything to that game. I was a little bugged by Nolan North being in the game seeing as he usually uses his Nathan Drake voice in everything but surprisingly didn’t bother too much I thought Laura Bailey did a good job with Black Widow but Captain America easily the worst acted character in the game for him speaking completely took me out of the immersion. This game is one of the worst games I’ve played throughout this console generation. Please Square Enix don’t make another.… Expand

A game corrupted by greed and turned into a live service has, once again, failed. I forgot I had pre ordered the game when it was first announced and forgot to cancel it. I was disappointed when I first saw it on my library. This game failed to do the one thing that it was supposed to do and that is to entertain. It provided a meaningless and uneventful 6 to 7 hours worth of campaign gameplay that was marred by bugs, glitches, crashes and just an utter mess for the Marvel community.… Expand

Although extremely predictable at times, the story would have carried this game further had it did not felt as if the post-game story content was lacking.     The combat is originally repetitive until you put a lot of time into getting any single character up to a noteworthy level which is frustrating. The issue lies with if you like to progress a specific character then the rest of your party will be lacking. Companions can become virtually useless and causes you to have to play at least four characters consistently to have them come to their full potential.

    Overall not worth a $60 prices tag but definitely worth a play with friends if you happen to come across it.    … Expand

    This is Anthem 1.5 and thats not good! Sure you can have a little fun leveling your hero but after you get to the "end game" you are F. Developers probaly never played their game. Do like anthem, go back and release when its done.

It wasnt good butit wasnt bad, had an open world style 'mechanic' that lets you do other missions in the same areas, giving you a silly Destiny vibe to get more legendary gear. They also involve a mission to visit other side missions to gather things for the final mision which in fact, de-rails the main story. NOTE TO DEVS: STOP DOING THIS! IT COMPLETELY HALTS THE PLOT!

    The idea of having objectives meant for multiplayer in a singleplayer reminds us that INSOMNIAC are still superior in the marvel superhero game genre.

    The game seems to stray off the main character further in as you unlock new heroes, allowing you to be completely neglectful of Kamala, which in my opinion is a well written character which was forgotten just to feed the interest of people only interested in the other heroes. The voice acting is alright, it seems to be that they are constantly tired of talking as there is never ending dialogue throughout.

    Some missions offer skins relating back to the Avengers movies, which dont unlock those skins for you if you complete them as it is bugged. Some maps glitch out and cause you to go through the floor or building. The cutscenes often stutter ruining immersion. The companion AI doesnt seem to be targeted much but you do so they are just there to help when you are downed just to revive you.

    The heroes also have some unbalanced powers which can cleave through mini bosses like they're childsplay:

    Black widows guns seem to laser beam bosses so you dont have to go in raw and no rubber

    Captain America is soo underpowered his super ability is the only ability that can do some real damage and you will HAVE to use him on the final boss which is just annoying.

    Iron man same as black widow his range attacks deal more damage than the melee.

    The only good heroes to play for a satisfying game is Hulk, thor and kamala. You will not find the other heroes any more satisying than hulks brute strength, Thors "DONK" from the hammer and his ability to weigh enemies down by throwing it at them and kamalas stretchy arms.

    If you chose a hero that can fly you are going to at least beat 80% of the mission just flying over all emeies and obstacles to reach the end to finish it reducing gameplay hours.

    The emeies seem repetitive, showing different enemies but they all have the same strategy which is to just charge in and hit as much as possible until they die.

    Do i mention its a superhero Destiny game?

    Overall im going to have to give this a solid 6/10 for its story and characters alone as it lacks on everything else and fails to fix issues it shouldnt have on release. I wanted to save the city and have an interesting protag, not do chores for loot.    … Expand

    A fine experience overall, but there are so many bugs (like enemies that get stuck inside the walls and companions that don’t fight) that make it difficult to fully enjoy the game.

    They are supposed to be superheros right. They are so under powered on this game. No soldiers should be able to withstand a hit from people like Thor, and the hulk. Combat is painfully slow.

Avengers:Paygame is probably multiples worse than Anthem in terms of the final product the devs delivered.....I will say, the story was worth playing through with some fantastic voice acting and sliiiiightly above average script.... Even if you enjoyed the story, the terrible coding job leads to cut scenes with Steve Rogers eyeballs popping from his skull and his lips, seemingly, melted together; rendering anything thing he's saying as stupid looking.

    I ended up lowering the difficulty to Easy once I had to do a full solo Iron Man mission. The level design for the solo mission was just too stupid when you have no skills unlocked. The game goes from sorta fun, to fun, to broken game design that makes you want to never support video games with your money again.

    And on top of everything, the main mission story barely cuts together just like fights don't cut together with cut scenes. For $20, this is a "maybe" purchase; but $60 or more for this is an insult to gamers. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game as a service with the kind of robust story campaign with side missions worth $60. If companies like Square Enix want to make games like this, with short pathetic campaigns; charge $20.    … Expand

    What a let down. The story mode is WAY to short for this kind of feature game. Executives need to STOP forcing the hand of game developers to try to make an additional penny and let game devs build what they know the way the know how to do it.

    Capture zones in small stage while chaos ensues around you. Kill all mechs (the SAME mechs youve been killing)
    Why the hell make armor that is customized but it makes 0 change on the character?
    Why the hell make 95% of alt cosmetic costumes a color variant? Who wants to spend real money on 4 different colored suits on hulk. the SAME suit, different color.
    I wanted to spend more time as each character, learning what theyve been doing in isolation, caring for them and them getting together. but no, you made a button smash game with useless gear loadouts, useless cosmetic appearance changes, useless "faction" missions, no real need to ever change your loadout other than to kill faster.
    this game could have been great but its not, its awful. Shame on your crystal dynamics and shame on your marvel.    … Expand

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
