    this game DOES NOT deserve the hate it's getting. come on, all these zeroes from users? don't trust them. this is a fun game, with a fun campaign allowing you to play each and every character (ms. marvel; thor; hulk; ironman; black widow; and even more cap toward the latter part of the game). the campaign is around 15 hours long, but can be more if you're up to exploring maps and gettingthis game DOES NOT deserve the hate it's getting. come on, all these zeroes from users? don't trust them. this is a fun game, with a fun campaign allowing you to play each and every character (ms. marvel; thor; hulk; ironman; black widow; and even more cap toward the latter part of the game). the campaign is around 15 hours long, but can be more if you're up to exploring maps and getting loot boxes that are hidden about. after the campaign, you can select a character and focus on leveling him/her up through missions in the war table. the use of the character hero card is a great way to give you incentive- you DO NOT have to purchase microtransactions for gear, cosmetics, etc. like everyone is **** about. you just need to grind. that's the fun part. sooooo, dig in, and get leveling.     Avengers is not perfect, but its not utter trash like many are saying. The combat gets WAY better come endgame when you unlock more skills giving you more options in combat. Sure there have been bugs here and there but its nothing really game breaking and cant be simply patched. This game has alot of potential with more story and endgame content on the way that's all free, so that's aAvengers is not perfect, but its not utter trash like many are saying.     Having problem with loading into the campaign, stuck in loading screen, I've tried restarting the game and my router, ive even uninstall and reinstall the game still the same problem ...do or did anyone experienced this?

    A decent story that will keep you invested enough your first time playing, however the gameplay is SO repetitive and dull that you'll struggle to find the desire to play it again more than once. Also expereinced a few bugs on top of that as well.

    Honestly for a AAA game based upon the biggest movie franchise going this is a massive dissapointment. Avoid unless you can get it dirt cheap.

It may not be the Avengers game we wanted but it is a solid package with great potential for the future and truly show what it is.    … Expand

I dont consider finishing moves "cosmetics", but part of the gameplay and should be unlockable by challenges and not behind a paywall.

    Story is good with plenty of cinematics. Post-Campaign activities is like doing strikes in Destiny. You'll unlock more activities once you've progressed through main post-campaign objective/quest (AFAIK, completing first step unlocked a new typ of activity)

    You will get some premium currency (Credits) by completing Hero Challenge Card or HCC (Battle Pass) with each character. Launch characters has them unlocked for free. You'll earn points to lvl HCC by completing Daily and Weekly Challenges.

    New upcoming characters will have HCC locked unless you buy it for 1000 credits.

    Great main story and pretty decent multiplayer. Gameplay is amazing, but the levels and mission variety is repetitive after a while. Could be an incredible games as a service game in the future, but there isn't much to do once you max out a character.

Graphical errors are a joke, level breaking bugs where bosses aren’t loading, the amount of microtransactions you’re encouraged to check out despite paying £55 for the game is ridiculous, the subtitles often say something entirely different to what’s onscreen, and above all it’s just a bit boring.Should be way better than it is considering the amount of time and money that’s gone into it. You have the entire Marvel universe at your fingertips, with an endless roster of characters to choose from including the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy and villains like Loki, and you make a game in which all you ever do is go into AIM facilities on Earth that all look the same and you just spend all your time smashing some robots. The voice acting is good, but you’ve got the likes of Nolan North, Laura Bailey and Troy Baker in there so of course they know exactly what’s needed. Like I’ve said the story’s a bit dull and it doesn’t give them all that much to work with emotionally. Really feels like this is a missed opportunity that could have been utilised much better in the hands of a developer that didn’t just see this as an endless grinding cash cow for people with more money than sense to spend on skins, emotes and hero cards a la Fortnite. That’s without even mentioning the fact that each character has a battle pass that you have to pay for individually. Such a shame. Needless to say I’ll be trading it in and not giving them any more of my money on pointless cosmetics.… Expand

    The campaign was about as much fun as the beta. Missions are the same, and so are structures. Also very glitchy. I was so excited for this game but it reminds me of something on PS2 with character dialogue, mannerisms, and movements. Would not recommend at $60, let alone $20. Spider-Man is hands down the better game.

    Typical unfinished live service game. There’s something fun buried deep in the countless technical and baffling design issues, but it needs at minimum another year of development before it’s worth your time.

    I don't like loot system and story base.I think loot and co-op system ruined the story.Story could be better.
    But still it's nice to be playing Marvel Superheroes.
    Finally combat system is great and perceivable.

The heroes are grossly and purposely underpowered. There are only three notable villains from the comics. Iron Man's controls are incredibly clunky.     This game is unfinished, long loading screens, models not loading in, falling through the world, etc needed way more time. The story also feels rushed as hell, a huge character fight and makeup from said fight didn't take 5 minutes. Wait a few months or skip the game all together.

Also i feel this game has almost no creativity, it's boring, idiot while im sure that the developers could have done far better.     The game play is somewhat fun but the thing that is a big letdown is the lack of equipment customization you character doesn't show any changes instead they pull and anthem were you can just buy a skin that is just a lazy way to do thing, also after a while it is just repetitive if you are a fan this is for you but if not well there are probably better options out there or coming soon.

    When I play a title with a franchise behind it? I generally want to play as those characters? What I DON'T want is to play as some goofy character I've never heard of because the REAL heroes of the franchise have slacked off.     This game is still very buggy. Yes, it's mostly just funny visual glitches. But, sometimes, your allied AI will get stuck in the ground. Sometimes, your multiplayer partners will somehow launch themselves through an invisible wall.

    This game should be global. It should feel global. This is the Avengers. Most of the maps are American focused with two outside. One being in Scandnavia, and the other being in Siberia. So, that's a bit disappointing.

    No option to kick people out of your parties during multiplayer meetups. So, you always end up having to leave your strike team in order to get the party you want should you want to change things up.

    It's by no means a bad game. But a $60 game? Not at this state. $30 sounds better with everything this game seemingly lacks.    … Expand

This game has its moments, the beginning of the story is charming and stirs up hype on what being a super hero is all about and makes you want to jump in as one of the main avengers the game launches with, and then it falls flat. The Avengers Initiative is supposed to be your standard online looter shooter; run in, beat up the bad guys, do a tedious meaningless task or two, get your gear, leave, rinse and repeat. As someone who plays warframe and played it at launch I genuinely enjoy these types of games BUT! The types of missions available are repetitive and stale after a couple of hours of playing. Stages are reused and don't allow for some of the Avengers to shine with their specific abilities, the objective has been recycled from other types of games (use warframe as an example) When in playing as Thor or Iron Man you're able to do really cool abilities but you're objective is to heat up a reactor or server? No cool animations for heroes with actual powers just punching and kicking at a random object. The enemies range in types and can flood you at certain points making you feel smothered and not so super hero esque. Although there is a multitude of enemy types they are literally only robots. The only humans enemies you engage with are in the beginning of the game and a few other types that teleport or fly. Other than that you're fighting robots the entire game. This game needs a huge overhaul fast before they lose the hype. Matchmaking is abysmal and you end up playing with AI because you're tired of waiting for the Avengers to assemble. The gear you collect doesn't have any physical appearance and really doesn't give you an incentive to keep replaying missions which is the entire point of a looter shooter games as a service game. Each hero has its own season pass type set up that you can either grind for by daily and weekly missions or just pay for (surprise) right now after playing since the day after it's launch I haven't unlocked one item for a hero in the free season pass. Grinding different hero's seems like a chore at this point and doing so will make the game feel more stale. Others have said it best, if you want to be an Avenger with friends buy it. If you want to feel like your doing meaningless tasks as a super hero in an unfinished game for mediocre rewards at a premium price this is for you. If the developers were holding out for next gen they should've done just that. I want to like this game and hopefully with the poor reviews and the fan feedback they'll update the game to play and feel like I am actually a super hero until then it's just not that enjoyable for long periods of time.… Expand

    Storia interessante e molto coinvolgente anche se abbastanza banalotta, gameplay divertente ma ripetitivo pur essendoci diversi eroi, a livello di level design è molto bello ma su ps4 standard si nota che i dettagli grafici sono stati abbassati di molto e molte texture di gioco hanno una risoluzione bassa e nonostante ciò ci sono molti cali di frame soprattutto quando si hanno troppiStoria interessante e molto coinvolgente anche se abbastanza banalotta, gameplay divertente ma ripetitivo pur essendoci diversi eroi, a livello di level design è molto bello ma su ps4 standard si nota che i dettagli grafici sono stati abbassati di molto e molte texture di gioco hanno una risoluzione bassa e nonostante ciò ci sono molti cali di frame soprattutto quando si hanno troppi elementi a schermo. Vedremo come si comporterà su next gen dato che questo gioco è stato pensato come game as a service e quindi a durare nel tempo introducendo supereroi nuovi come Spiderman e missioni che possono essere completate online.     this game has great visual, pretty cool story with decent gameplay, but warzone is too repetitive after few hours.. but this game could be great if they care about it and they keep making new characters, interesting story based side missions, and fix these minor bugs

    Precisaria ser adiado pelo menos uns 3 anos. A historia até que é "legal" (Não zerei a historia até agora, meu personagem cai no limbo infinitamente q é RIDÍCULO) NÃO VALE A PENA!! Jogo muito MUITO repetitivo, cheio de Problemas e sistema de microtransações horrivel!! parece de jogo gratuito de celular (sem contar o valor dos créditos que é um abuso). Jogo rushadaço!!!!

    Es un juego muy entretenido teniendo como fortaleza su modo campaña y su jugabilidad. Nos brinda un sistema de progresión muy interesante para que al momento del combate se sienta muy atractivo. El punto flojo es que cuando pasas las horas jugando, lo puedes encontrar muy repetitivo en cuanto al diseño de las misiones.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphic Performance - for release, not bad. Was able to complete the entire Campaign with little to no graphics issues, the odd black screen here and there, as long as I wasn't connected to another live player. As soon as a second, third, or fourth player joined Graphics would begin to lag as well as overall server connectivity. LG NanoCell 4K UHD HDR 49" Smart TV, with Xbox One X, and a proper high speed HDMI cable meant for high performance 4k.

    Content - Severely lacking. Campaign leaves a bunch of unfinished quest lines, unacknowledged dialog(at the end of one of Widow's "SIDE" quests, Pym tells her to talk to someone in the Science bay, but there is no one in the Science bay she can talk to, nor can you even at that point of the game, go to the Science bay as widow). The Campaign is labeled as a Single Player mode and yet every quest, mission, and dropzone is a multiplayer online mission. Finishing the Campaign isn't finishing the Campaign, cause Avenger's Initative, which is supposed to be their Multiplayer, is actually Campaign Part 2. And there is a lack in end-game content. You get 2 weekly and 2 daily missions per Hero that takes like 2 hours to complete. With 6 individual "Character Passes" that shows a "Free" line, which means they are more than likely going to be adding individual paid lines to each pass in the future.

    Multiplayer Connectivity - Can sit for 2 hours or 2 minutes hoping that someone is going to be able to connect to you is also about to start the same mission as you. When people do connect to your lobby, there are no obvious hosts, so randoms can come in, start your lobby and leave; making it so you now either have to close your game or go through the 5 minutes of loading just to quit the mission and start the process all over again, and thats assuming that mission you wanted to do in the first place is still there, because War Table resets and Vendor Item Resets don't follow their server time resets in any pattern.

    Bugs - tons of exploitable bugs easily found without people noticing, I.E. Thors Particle Vaporization. Combining Thor's Innate Shock and pushback Crits, with Pym Particle Shrink Crit and increased Damage can quite literally cause enemies to shrink, while thor is using his brute strength to push enemies into walls, through the map and get vaporized in the nothingness, and thats assuming there isn't anything under you otherwise they'll get stuck under the map unable to die, making you have to reset the mission. Very common to also achieve while using ODINFORCE and PINNING ENEMIES TAKE PYM DAMAGE when you throw your hammer, enemies will go flying through the air, shrink, and fall right through the map as the hammer will land on the ground pushing them right through.

    Day 4 of owning Starts at 12:02am 15/09/2020, Thor level 50 PL 135 and Rising, Everyone else is at least 25 and at least PL of 50. Except Cap, cause he's a useless enhanced human.    … Expand

    At first I couldn't understand why this game was getting poor reviews, but after the first couple of hours, I realized that I was sick of playing. The gameplay mechanics are truly awesome, but every mission is exactly the same. There just isn't enough variety to keep me coming back.

    Hi, my experience with avengers is poor.
    Lots of bugy mechanics, not much to do after campaign. Its worst then Marvel Future Fight and that is a free mobile game.
    Don’t understand why they went in this direction with Marvel title.
    I was hoping it is going to be a lots of fun, though that turned out to be a lot of... frustration! Hope they will change some of the mechanics and abilities- boring!

    I had much higher expectations, there was so much potential, but it ended up being glitchy and, I could tell there wasn’t a lot of love and care put into it. With the chance to have amazing and fun super heroes, you’d expect the game to actually be fun. The story wasn’t really that good, but come one, the gameplay was disappointing.     Amazing 10 hours story and that's about it... Lvl up Thor to lvl 46, got tired of the repetitive gameplay/ennemies/environnement... So a big 2 for the story only, everything else worth skipping. Good games to buy at 15$. Won't play again till Spiderman and Hawkeye are released. Ain't worth my times or grind...

    Overview: Image Destiny 2 except instead of shooting things you are now punching things. With an engaging however, short story and lots to do after the game and free dlc updates there is enough to keep people coming back. The game is not without faults though. The repetitive missions and god tier grind fest this game might keep people away more then bring them in. Hopefully as dlc is added, once per month, there will be new enemy types and unique locations to visit. I feel that is the plan but they didn't add enough in the beginning.

    Good: The combat is extremely fun. I actually feel I am these great marvel characters. Each character feels unique and different from each other. Marvel's Avengers is a game where it gets more difficult the higher "power" you are. It requires you master a characters abilities and combos to get rid of enemies as quick as possible. Story is really engaging and fun but the whole campaign last around 9 to 12 hours.

    Bad: It is ungodly repetitive there are around 10 different types of locations and only around 4 different AIM locations. Usually you are dropped in an open area with some discoverable to find then go into an AIM facility and are then seeing the same walls and same hallways over and over again. There are only 2 end game boss fights that you take one that follow the same style except you fight them on a helicopter pad or in an open room. Bugs are an issue although there are not many game breaking bugs and they are aggressively patching them. Loot is invisible they should have found a way to not have it invisible but some characters have odd loot you equip like the hulk who equips body parts?

    Microtransactions: I felt it was important to point this out as its own section. Yes there are microtransactions in the game. They are for emotes or skins. There is a battle pass for each character in the game however the first 6 are free. You also get plenty of currency by completing characters daily and weekly missions. I think there is a little but over 7,000 credits {Paid currency} to get from the 6 characters. All DLC will be free. I am personally not upset with microtransactions as long as all dlc is free. I understand how some are upset but in order to continue this game past the 16-22 additions of content they need to make money off of it. Also you can also get skins though randomly found patterns in game tho these are rare to find and I have only found around 10 in 40+ hours of play.    … Expand

Finally they fixed it with this latest patch but after almost 10 mins playing i glitched again with kamala ( once an avenger (follow iron man) ) and I cannot handle it anymore. I’ve been waiting for this game to at least let me finish the campaign so i getI bought the early access game.     Personal take: I did the Last Avenger Standing mission from the Reigning Supreme chain, was already on the 11th floor and the objective was "Defeat all enemies", which I did, but there were only four human grunts.     The Game was just boring to play you can just press the attack button all you want and still complete the mission but the only other thing I give them flack for is that they said no microtransactions but that was a complete lie but overall it was a waste of $50.

    -Stale predictable writing, not uncommon and somewhat expected in a super hero game, but still a let down.

    -Gear progression is completely useless. While you are under power level 130, nothing you find matters, because gear drops are based on power level, so you spend ALL of your leveling time simply puting the biggest power number items in to their appropriate slots. Even if it drops your stats and you lose good perks, they're all meaningless because it is a race to 130 power level and you need the good gear to drop. They couldn't have made leveling a character more boring even if they tried.

    -Repetitive. Yes, these type of games are always repetitive, but this one sets the bar to a new high. Soon enough the only thing you have to do everyday are the dailies, there are 4 possible bosses... you get 2 a day... They also always come in the same level, and believe it or not, you can get the same boss in the same level twice in the same day. Amazing.

    -Forgot to give players an endgame. You level to power 150 and then that's it, there is nothing to do except grind for resources, that you don't need for anything at this point. There is no raids or high end dungeons to tackle with your friends, you do vaults or hives, which are always the same thing and can't drop exotic gear.

    -Fails at single player and multiplayer, was sold as a multiplayer game first and foremost, so everyone was quick to forgive the short 10 hour campaign that stars the most boring character Marvel has to offer. But it also fails to provide anything to do online as well. This may be the first no player game ever made.

    -Cosmetics, you would think that where they can milk money out of those poor eternally forgiving superhero fanatics would have been polished, but nope, the skins are simple recolors of each other with minimal actual difference in actual models. WAY over priced and incredibly stupid, who wants yoga pants hulk? Or Fabio viking leopard Thor?

    -Empty promises, with every patch we are told that new exciting content will be coming soon, that the now almost non-existent player base will grow again, that the bugs will be fixed. The fact is the game is still buggy, there is till nothing to do and the missions are still unrewarding. Every minute you invest in this game feels like a complete waste of time. Today the new hub was released and the new rifts missions introduced, and guess what? They are as boring and cheap on rewards as the rest and that hub serves no purpose whatsoever. If this was april 1st i would guess it was a joke.

    This game is worth 15-20$ at best and even then with the nonexistent player base i doubt CD will get the GO for much content in the future. This game should serve the gaming industry well in showing everything you shouldn't do when making a game, and at this point the best thing that could happen is for Marvel to pull the license and give it to someone else asap so that we can get a decent Marvel game while the movies are still hot/warm at this point.

    P.S. Whoever was in charge of the fighting mechanic, you deserve better, look for work somewhere else.    … Expand

    I was really excited to pick this game up, being someone who thoroughly enjoys the MCU and was looking forward to a new universe and interpretation of the characters we all love. However, I really didn't find Khamala Khan to be a stellar addition to the Avengers. She has some great qualities to her character. On the other hand she can be quite whiney and annoying at times too. This all goes without saying I would overlook this if the gameplay were something of substance. It really isn't. They start you out with the Hulk as your second character with Khamala, or Ms. Marvel, and he has the most rudimentary moveset out of the whole cast. The most entertaining was definitely Iron Man, but even he is lacking in the fun factor. The Batman games have a good "Beat em up" system in place where you feel like countering and dodging enemies is calculated, but here it just feels like you're mashing the heavy or light attacks. Not to mention that 99% of the missions are either defend an area or "go get those guys over there". Not very fun. I honestly didn't get past the first half of the game because it became too difficult at a certain point. I was only on normal difficulty and had tried going back to earlier missions just to get some more loot in order to make my character more powerful in hopes of making the level easier. I watched YouTubers play it and it seemed normal to them. The mission that really made me lose it is where you are infiltrating a complex as Iron Man, fully suited up, and you have to stand in a very small circle in order to hack into the computer system and get into the building. The circle is so small and hard to defend that I frequently found myself outside flying around, as that is Iron Man's main feature, he can attack at a distance and nimbly juke out your opponents. I realized too late that the enemies can also capture the circle and I failed over and over and over again. After an hour or so on this single mission I simply stopped the game. I hadn't been extremely entertained with the game in the first place since it is so repetitive but this was the straw that broke the camels back. Also a minor thing I would have overlooked if the gameplay was better but the menu/homebase system is so slow and I found myself wandering around the helicarrier trying to find each individual place to either equip armor or even load up another mission. It's all too complicated and slow. I would just try and play the campaign but it takes up so much time just with explaining how every single mechanic works. To their credit, it is very intricate and although I tried paying attention I still don't fully understand all of it.
    Overall, I really was disappointed with this game, especially because it appeared on the surface to be quite good. The first mission was the highlight of my experience and it was all downhill from there.    … Expand

    After a beta that ended the game, and horrible mismanagement of the live service aspect. We are left with a game that has a fun, if underwhelming gameplay loop and a decent campaign story. Maybe a great pickup for the bargain basement bin when you want to get some of that marvel content in your blood (or watch the campaign played on YouTube instead)

    The game is good. Just a lack of content. A lot of potential with it. Adding Hawkeye was a really good decision she is by far the most fun character to play. If they stick around with the game and fix it up it has potential to be incredible.

    If I was just rating the solo campaign and the Kate Bishop DLC I would be an 8 or 9. Generally the underlying mechanics and overall game are great. It started with many issues, and post game needs some serious work.

    This game is terrible compared despite all of the hype for the game. I have waited for this since September 2019 and when I got it and finished the campaign it was very disappointing. It gets so repetitive as you take control of an area by sitting in a circle or take command posts. Iron Man was sort of cool though. :(

    The gameplay, the fights and the graphics are cool, but it's so disappointing. Specially for me, that I'm a huge Marvel fan, I was expecting so much more. The only gold here is Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel.

    Unpopular opinion this game is no where near as bad as people made it out to be, now it is not even close to being perfect but it is a fun as hell game that has a lot of potential and I think if it is given time It could have a redemption like destiny 1

Boring, repetitive, the graphics looks like from the third generation videogames, lots of bugs, the story is stupid you can do everything that there's to do in 2 hours and then you get tired of playing. You can see that some moves from the character are identical to Lara Croft in tomb raider. So all the those guys did was copy the old files and put into aWorst game I played my whole life.     As many have said, I can't find any LIFE in this game. Some passion, some originality or some sincerity.
    Anything. Nope. Just bland, lifeless characters in bland, lifeless missions taking place in bland, lifeless levels.

    Also, it's got more bugs than a 3rd world country bathroom.

    Marvel's Avengers is a decent game with nice visuals. The game was riddled with perform issues, frame rate drops and bugs at launch but recent patches have definitely helped solve that. Also it runs noticeably smoother on next gen consoles. Besides that the game is lacking in several areas. The story is too short. All the characters have unique fun movesets and if you like superheroes you'll have atleast a little bit of fun with this game. It just seems a little rushed and honestly another year could've done wonders. It seems the developers plans were to get it out even if it's not ready and fix everyone post launch. Problem is players leave and with an online game like this that's a big problem. I'll be honest I still boot it up once a day or so just to play as Thor because it looks and feels pretty awesome. This video game market is lacking very good superhero games so this is really the best multiplayer hero game right now. I have faith post launch DLC will revitalize this game but as it stands it's a decent fun experience I think everything should try the campaign atleast. 6/10 now. 4/10 at launch and at it's absolute best 8.5/10… Expand

    So many people hating on this game without giving it a chance. I hesitated buying it because of that but after deciding to try it for myself i actually really enjoyed it for the story, cinematics and gameplay. I can see how with some refining of the multi-player and adding more content it could have a lot of depth too. But for the story mode alone, i found it totally worth the time and money.

The boss battles are very underwhelming and have way too much health and don't attack frequently. I got myself pretty invested, especially with the character of Kamala, someone I ignored since her debut in the comics.     Butthe single player alone was enough for me to see the gameplay loop doesn’t hold up for a game as service product. When you’re invested in the story you can manage to overlook a lot of the gameplay flaws, but when you begin to think the game was design to actually repeat that gameplay loop throughout multiple missions in a “games as service” mode, you realize it doesn’t work. If you’re just gonna be tasked with fighting hordes of generic enemies, only so you can fight a bigger generic enemy, for “no reason”, there really is no desire to continue playing.

    So basically, TLDR, game has a very enjoyable campaign, but don’t really go for it looking for a great online mode. You can probably get a few kicks out of playing with some friends, but it will get stale pretty fast.    … Expand

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
