    I only bought the game because the next-gen version is included, but good lord is this version a complete pile of steaming dog feces. Constant crashes and glitches while in the menus, gameplay is hilariously bad, and franchise mode is completely forgotten. EA no longer deserves the NFL license, and I hope this tie is severed as soon as possible so 2k can produce a real simulation football game.

Literally no other company unabashedly releases a game like this, where the only update to one of the biggest modes (franchise) is making it freaking blue and has a litany of bugs, both large and small that have existed for years. Gameplay sucks they didn't make any improvements on actual gameplay back in the day it seemed they were always trying to make gameplay better it does not feel like simulation football at all.     I have owned every Madden game since the first one they released on Sega Genesis. The only one I didn't play is the very first one they released for Mac before Genesis. I am sad to say I am officially done with Madden. Year after year they keep recycling trash and 21 is the one that broke the camels back. Fixed your Franchise EA. So sick of your cash grabs

Franchise is horrible, no coaching carousels which is present in Nba2k series and MLB THE SHOW (idk about other games), commentary is very repetitive and boring, with the other sports games surpassing madden easily in this category. Franchise still has no career stats tracker showing teams, which is unacceptable in my opinion. While I enjoy online heavy modes in games, MUT is an awful mode meant to milk fans. MUT is a basically a pay-to-win card trading game with RESETS every release, which makes this mode simply cash grab. If your cards stayed with you, maybe MUT would be decent, but that fact alone ruins MUT. FOTF is still glorified connected franchise, with slight improvements, but still no where near as in depth as Road To The Show or Nba2k. KO and The Yard are nice additons and decent side modes, but the bad gameplay makes nether mode worth playing. These two modes are simply in the game to give an appearance of change. Madden 06-12, was more in depth than this game is, and this game is released as the last current-gen madden before next-gen. Madden 12 was released during 360/ps3 days. This game is really a sad story of how what was once a household name for football and a must have game in the 2000's has gone to a dumpster fire. EA doesn't care about this game or the fans, but us, the longtime fans continue to criticize in the hopes of reliving the glory days of madden. EA has abandoned the community that gave rise to a golden age 2005-2009 for a community of youth and causal sports fans who have yet to realize what playing Madden 2006 on ps2 was like. There was once a day where you could create whatever team you wished for, built a team off of realistic gameplay and good trade logic, and when bored, mini camp mode existed for both player progression and for fun. The days of being good at football are long-gone, with the days of cheese and overly gimmicky and poorly tuned gameplay.    … Expand

    Yet another roster update. Played the game via EA access trial and in my FIRST GAME bumped into glitches and bugs that remained in Madden for the past couple of years. This game is a spit in the face for football fans, I truly hope another football franchise game series can somehow compete because anything is better than the copy and paste garbage we receive year after year.

    This game is atrocious. Same game as Madden 20, which was a bad game. Franchise mode has been the same for years. All they added was pass rush moves and the yard. This game should be a 6 max. I’m giving it a 0 because EA has ran out of excuses in my eyes. Do not buy!!!!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have purchased every Madden since the year 2000. The franchise has declined year after year to the point where the game is just awful now, which is sad because all other game genres and other sport games have gotten better in that time. EA's decision was to purchase exclusive rights so they can get away with releasing mediocre games year after year. Instead of putting out an extremely good product, they decided to invest into a new arcade mode for the simulation football game- and have that be the only real update. So what you are left with is an extremely buggy, not well crafted and mediocre title with 4 or 5 mode options that are all awful. This game does nothing well and needs major patches to even function properly. It is an exact copy and paste of last years game with an added arcade mode. EA and the Madden franchise appears to have given up.

    Specifics:
    Franchise mode is bad, no depth, no ambition and needs completely thrown out and remade. The madden franchise was built on the pack of this mode and they have neglected it for a decade and we're just not playing anymore. I even enjoy messing around on MUT, but franchise is needs to be the most exciting feature to bring fans back. This mode is severely lacking in creativity and has no heart. On top of all the other issues, player progression is awful. Literally franchise mode was better 15 years ago on PS2 and GameCube.

    Yard is very surface level and has no depth with meaningless micro transactions. It's just a 3v3 football arcade game- you might as well not have a created player on it or attributes. Mode freezes a lot and countless other glitches will occur MUT is about 99% unchanged with same card art and format, same menu art and same bugs
    . Game will freeze when loading in. Also, same loading screens.

    The gameplay no longer resembles simulation football about half of the time. You will have a receiver not react to catch a ball at all, blockers just walk around during big plays. O-Line aimlessly twirling around. Players warping around and through each other. Mouth guards are somehow missing from the game, but they are in the new yard mode? You also can't create players really with custom faces other than yard mode. No creating a tem, or stadiums. You're forced to reuse the same basic handcuffed assets as the last 8 Maddens. This is the first year ever I'm not buying. The folks at Madden clearly have no idea or don't care to put out a worthy football game. This game is only better than football games from 15 years ago from graphics alone. (I played the 10 hour trial)    … Expand

    1.) EA makes dishonest disingenuous games, equivalent to purposely holding back content every year to milk that money

    2.) kapernick in the game with a 81 rating is truly embarrassing. The dude was rated 76 his last year in the game 4-5 years ago! He got better after getting woke for 5 years? he got benched for playing like hot garbage with the niners

    This game has never been as buggy as it is now. They can't even get basic stuff to work properly. EA are the only devs allowed to make a simulation game, but madden 21 is more arcade-like now more than it's ever been. You can't even call it a simulation game anymore.

    Played the game during the free weekend. After seeing the AI fail to cover simple routes and make completely ridiculous decisions on All Madden difficulty, I uninstalled the game.

    Genuinely the worst madden I have ever played. Madden has been garbage since 2008 and I believe it’s so unfair that EA has a monopoly over the NFL games. It’s so stupid and I hope to god the NFL terminates trot contract with EA. They put zero effort into making football games and they are only in it for the money. It’s all scripted and based off animations not skill.

    Expecting a very similar review for Fifa 21, what should really have been a patch, transforms into a full game and concentrates on one thing - micro transactions.

    Not surprised this is as bad!

    Another year of absolute garbage. I've been fed up with Madden for years. it is great to see fellow gamers finally speak out on how far EA and this game has fallen. There have been zero positive changes for quite some time in any of actual football focused game modes. My favorite mode was Franchise which has clearly been ignored by developers. I hope all the finally wakes up the NFL toAnother year of absolute garbage.     Why do I buy this every year. When has EA made a bug limited game. Games so bad they added Kap to hide the game sucks. Same game as last year. How the hell does the NFL keep giving this company exclusive rights. This is what happens with no competition.

The game is shallow, with 89 features from older games completely absent, the gameplay is awful, bugs and glitches are everywhere, and yet the game still sells thanks to an exclusive NFL simulation license, game changers/mut streamers promoting the game, and "madden simps".     Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
