I honestly believe that all this negativity directed towards this game is EXTREMELY unfair, and I believe that the opinions that really matter are difficult to get because we are too busy enjoying the game. All of these negative reviews that you may read are about the reviewers disappointment that their expectations weren't reached. I have read more gripes about the content or lack thereof than I can remember but as you know gamers are entitled whiners and it is virtually impossible to please them. So in a nutshell this is why you should play this game: To sum it up best it is a perfect blend of Diablo 2 and Halo 2, The game play is second to none, the story is not the best but its not bad its actually pretty good if you give it a chance, lots of care went into the detail for weapons armor etc, its a truly refreshing take on a genre that's gotten stale with yearly releases of the same couple of games, no its not as big as some of these mmos out here but its very large still, and on the content end I have no clue how you can say there is no content when most shooters have nothing to offer aside from a mediocre story and the rest of the game is about competitive multiplayer while this game offers stellar competitive multiplayer that when its all said and done will have more layers and more things to do then nearly any other shooter, the story is the best ive played on a shooter since HALO and there is at least 15 hours of gameplay there, strikes are amazing, Raids are made for the true gamer and I cant speak high enough about them even with the lack of matchmaking, daily and weekly things to do, and even exploration mode with random encounters like alot of the MMOs out today all of this being done by a company who regularly updates and uses very well timed DLCs. I say if this game cant please you as a gamer, you aren't a real gamer Expand

    1. Over 50% of the reviewers are people who just log on to post negative reviews regarding things. Click on some of their names and see.

    2. People expected a Halo clone. Hellllloooo? Bungie left Halo because they were done with it. They said from the start that this would be more similar to an MMOFPS than Halo.

    3. "Voice chat is limited/people don't talk." Then why did you get it on PS4 and not XBOX? Having both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 for years, Xbox is far noisier when it comes to people talking. Granted it's mostly kids but... Also, voice is in the game. That's all Bungie needed to do. The fact that it's limited does not matter.

    4. "It doesn't have an offline mode." This shouldn't even be a complaint. You knew this was coming from day one.

    5. "We have to shoot the same enemies, all the time." This complaint is coming from the same people who expected a Halo clone...where all you do is shoot the same enemies...all the time....on different little maps...talk about finding fault with everything...

    6. "I've played for 15 hours and I'm bored." No you haven't. When these complaints came out this morning, the game had been released for literally 6 hours. Plus, this is geared toward an MMO. Have you ever played an MMO for 6 hours and quit because it was a bump and grind? I don't think so. There's a leveling process. In every RPG type game. If you played WoW for 6 hours at launch, every quest was fetch and kill, and you'd barely hit level 10 in that time (Cap was 60). How about you actually play the game and see?

Seriously...put in some time and effort...even Bungie said be weary of day one reviews. Sigh, sucks to be impatient I guess.

This game is worth the money...pick it up.

Plus heroic strikes story missions and raids. Overall the game is worth it's price the the enjoyment and time you get out of it even more so if you are completionist like me. I would give it a 9/10 without raids and a 9.5/10 with friends. So go out and get Destiny play through the game and at least reach max level. Expand

Nice graphics, exellent animations, great sound and beatuflly crafted worlds makes this a game for me, but if there is one thing I can say that feels kind of bad so must it be the story. It just kind of lacks depth.

End note: I like it for what it is (A new IP) and that I did not over hype myself helped that. I never cared for Halo much so that might have something to do with it.

Nothing I can't say isn't already said in the Gametrailers review, so you should go look at that review. I also agree with GTs score of 8, but am giving it a 10 to offset some of the people who rank anything they don't like a zero (seriously, nothing is actually a zero, you people are weird).

I can easily say that the open environment on planets are awesome. let me explain... a base out in the distance..I get off my ride pull out my sniper rifle and pick out the toughest guy out of the bunch and take him out.... the others scatter looking to hide and they do a very well job of that too...I start flanking.. they notice and regroup...fight continues on or can go all guns out too but its a harder fight that way. Its borderlands and Diablo 3 item collecting added to it and it works well. love the super moves and no one mentioned the perks to your jumps, and grenades, guns with perks you unlock the more you use that gun and much much more. I love the planets each one is very memorable takes you there and draws you into the fantasy setting. I hate nothing more then a level or location that ruins the game this game doesn't do that at all. yes its not perfect cause nothing can be perfect. But from what I played its one of the best FPS I have ever had the privilege of playing. plays like Halo and that's a good thing with light MMO elements tacked on and it works in its favor. sorry cant spell for the life of me hope you understand this. Great setting, sci-fi feeling, every mission on hard is really badass, you wont win pushing forward. Adorable design of everything you see, sound great, looks better.
"-" some exploits you can use to win almost every level, npc can get out their special zone, so if your body died, just run of of zone and wait him to revive, or shoot mobs from your cheating position

Ive read some of the positives and negatives, not all obviously but enough to get an impression of why people are angry/disappointed with the game and giving it zeros. I do see their point of views and I don't intend to argue against that as that's been their experience with the game. I know what its like to be so hyped up over the release of something expecting it to be the greatest thing ever only for that very hype to lead to inevitably be and almost predictably disappointed.

I must say I never really bought into that hype or got excited about it. My excitement started with playing the beta. The beta drew me in and left me wanting more. The whole concept of the story and my role in it was awesome to me. The full release hasn't disappointed me either and with more play I'm getting more hooked on it. My only question mark was would I enjoy the multiplayer and so far to my surprise I have. The things people do not like about the multiplayer are actually the things I have liked about it so far. I like that there's no chat. In other games that puts me off playing it and I love the fast pace and small maps. The MMO and story side of things I also like. I get that its probably over simplified for some gamers but it hits the sweet spot for me. There's enough there to keep me interested without it being overwhelming and complicated. It is the MMO for console gamers, simple and accessible with controllable chat, which imo is a wise move. Perhaps they could have made it optional, say in the settings but reading their reasons for it I happen to agree with them on not including it. Again not taking away from others opinions I get that they feel let down and disappointed in this game, just my opinion and experience with the game has been different. I have not been so keen to play a game I own since forza 5, which was another game heavily criticised for things that I actually thought made it a more enjoyable game for me. This is refreshing as I was coming off the disappointment of titanfall and watchdogs. Anyway gaming and the games we enjoy is a personal thing and the reasons I really enjoy a game will vary from others reasons. The point being don't let others opinions put you off trying this or any other game as you may miss out on something you will really enjoy.

As for a rating I'm giving it a 10 because for me its the most enjoyable game I've played since forza5 and AC Black Flag. All these were games I looked forward to playing and for me thats the most important thing. That can't be said for Titanfall and Watchdogs. They were good games but just missing that something to excite and motivate me to want to play.

Now to start properly. Destiny is the first game to come out on "next gen consoles" that I have actually had fun playing. Unlike Call of Duty it isn't a same old same old repetitive shooter, and unlike BF4 it isn't a buggy mess, and unlike all of the day one exclusive titles it isn't boring, empty and rushed. Destiny delivers almost flawless game play mechanics with a near to seamless open solar system experience. The gun play is fun, weight and rewarding. The movement and skills make you feel like a complete and utter badass without making you overpowered (believe me on that one, this game can get pretty damn hard at some points). The main story quests are "meh", however what many people writing the lower reviews based on story fail to realise, is that the game is open world for a reason. You aren't meant to just speed run the quests. You are meant to explore, to build an understanding of the world around you. To join other online players and fight the "fallen" and learn their story along the way. Strike missions offer a great experience rewarding teamwork as well as individual skill. Then there is the loot and RPG like elements that make the game feel more personal. You build your guardian from the ground up. Starting as a level 1 noob of planet earth, and then finishing at level 20. However the journey doesn't end at level 20, it kind of begins...but I won't give too much away.

    Summary:
    "Good"
    ____
Solid game-play experience, great lore, lots of missions, rewards skill and teamwork, fun, play it how you want, no bugs :D, takes the best bits from games such as Halo, Borderlands and Call of Duty and then adds more (Which isn't a bad thing, just because it bears similarities to other games doesn't mean it copied them. I'm actually enjoying it more than Borderlands and CoD...Not sure about Halo yet, but it is very very close).

    "Meh"
    ___
30fps (Yes this is the big one. Many PC elitists (you know the ones... "PC Master Race" and all) are focusing on this point. They say they can feel a difference which "damages game-play" and makes it "harder" to aim...but surely giving the game difficulty isn't bad. Gamers now days expect to have their hand held in modern FPS games, but Destiny says "NO". Use your brain, learn to aim. And in all honesty, coming from a 120fps gaming rig to my PS4, I can't really feel too much of a difference. There is also no visual damage. The game is beautiful.)

    "Bad"
    ___
Repetitive missions at the moment (the game is new and more missions are still being added), lack of text chat in the tower, currency which can be confusing at times.

Absolutely fantastic game in so many areas. Story feels shallow at first but allows for lots of speculation, especially with the depth of the grimoire cards you unlock. PVP is balanced and quite fun, PVE is a bit grindy at first but once you unlock things like Nightfalls and Raids the normal 'strike grind' feeling disappears. Overall, 10/10, got what I was expecting and more.

The story and writing take a back seat to game-play and adventure which in my opinion is a good thing, allowing for good banter with your friends as you mow down the enemies. The RPG elements are simple yet deep and satisfying.

Competitive multi-player is also a nice surprise, it's pretty balanced for launch and the maps are really well designed, no spawning problems at all and no class or weapon is overpowered. The satisfaction from getting a clutch multi-kill with a special ability is one of the most exciting things I've encountered in a FPS multi-player in recent memory.

I'm excited to see what Bungie are going to do with DLC, a few additional worlds and mechanics is all I can really ask for at this stage, a racing mini-game in armed sparrows would be super fun and so would some kind of space combat.

I literally cannot understand the red reviews, It's quite obvious they are coming from either people who misunderstood what this game was going to be based on over-excitement from it's hefty marketing campaign or little children who suffer from some kind of mental retardation.

The shooting is nice, the worlds are beautiful, and huge, which compensates a little bit the fact that there are so few zones, and the PVP is a classical but effective fast paced/low time to kill/mobility focused competition.

There are, however, some things that could be improved :
    - The story is somewhat fuzzy and poorly narated (it gets better as the campaign progresses)
    - The worlds are huge, but there are only 4 of them, a couple more would provide more diversity
    - Commuication and grouping is apalling, with no good mechanics to chat/create a fireteam quickly with people who are not necessarily your friends

Appart for the communicaiton part, that's no big deal and I definitely recommend buying it, although I wonder if in spite of the replayability options, the game has indeed a long lifespan.

    - 3 man dungeons with scaling difficulty, as they get harder you will need to use tactics & teamwork. Very satisfying.
    - PvP was frustrating at first as I learned the maps/game but I am improving and as I do its naturally becoming more and more enjoyable. Very well done.

I don't have a lot of time to play Destiny right now, so I don't know about the length of the story or how objectives might repeat, but it is a FPS, so I guess I'll be shooting a lot and I don't really mind that. Because it feels great to me.

I am also very curious, what Bungie will deliver over the next years to keep Destiny alive and interesting. I guess, they deliberately left enough space, to improve upon, so let's see.

I really enjoy Destiny. I have been playing a while now and I've been glued to the game when I get home from work. It's alot of fun to jump into a friends game and play together. I find the over all quality of the game to be great, very smooth gameplay and very little bugs. There could be more missions, and places to go, and loot to gather but those are things that many MMO's have problemsI really enjoy Destiny. I really think this game will only get better with time. The missions are not that different in objective but they are rewarding and fun because of the different situations and enemies,

I would advise to not give these super negative reviews much thought as the game is alot of fun. Please judge it for yourself.

I'm actually enjoying this more than Borderlands, contrary to popular belief. This game is getting so much undeserved hate, it's insane. Don't listen to the trolls on this stupid page, and buy this if you have even the slightest interest in RPGs and/or shooters. Brilliant.

Destiny could be called, "Destiny: Halo Evolved". It's like if Borderlands and Guild Wars 2 (two games that I like) had a baby, that union would produce Destiny.

The game plays well, there's lots of cool loot, levelling, good grinding - you can easily lose hours in their world (and I plan to do so this weekend). But, as at least one user review has pointed out (and rightly so),

But, as at least one user review has pointed out (and rightly so), community and communication is very much lacking. I haven't been able to form or join a Strike Team since launch, there are way too many loan wolf players who are grinding and aren't looking for any substantial interaction with others. This is a very common problem in multiplayer games today that unfortunately Destiny has not yet managed to overcome. I was looking forward to Destiny since its announcement because it gave the impression that it would give players high incentive to communicate with each other. Not yet. For example, in playing through Devil's Lair last night, I was playing with two other strangers and couldn't convince them to form a strike team despite the fact that we were losing a lot. Destiny's biggest challenge is getting players talking and playing together properly, and I'm hoping they figure out how to do it.

Despite this, Destiny is a high quality title that I am hoping will patch its issues sensibly.

Bungie did a great game here folks, it enjoyable and fun, play with friends. It is a bit repetitive, then again what game isn't? Go play it and enjoy the experience. Graphics are nice, music is epic and controls are tight. The Story is there but it is short.

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
