It would be a good game if it ended after 30h and its story was more relevant. It is a bloated and uninspired grind game.

Great fun, love the setting and Saxon England looks great. The time period they chose is an interesting one too. Exactly what I wanted out of a big, open worlder to be fair. Loads to do to keep you entertained and it's single player so you don't have to deal with anyone else which is nice. It's not quite the witcher 3 but I think it's great for whatever that's worth.

Definitely one of the best AC games in a while. At least, we have the Brotherhood back with a vast amount of quests and interesting dialogues. Secondly, the whole raid to evolve system is amazing. However, the game has a decent amount of bugs, which do not affect the gameplay, just the impressions. I like the settings of Norway and England, the raidings, social stealth is back, combat system with dual wielding weapons is fun and so is treasure hunting.
I also like the fantasy-like atmosphere with dark forests, fogs, ruins, curses... I needed a game that I just have fun. I do not need anything spectacular or original or ground-breaking. Just pure fun. I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima and

I'm not saying spider-man don't deserve it, but leaving Valhalla completely out, while giving some short games spot JUST BECAUSE they are console exclusives is pathteic. Absolutelty pathetic. I'm not saying AC Valhalla needs to get "game of the year" nomination, i'm saying, give it ANY nomination. Music, art direction, best action / adventure game, ANYTHING. It doesn't even have to win, just nomination would be enough. I have been gaming over 10 years, it's my biggest passion and hobby and if this game gets no nominations i might just give up gaming. Literally any joy i feel from gaming would be gone and it would be gone because i would know that i'm part of community that doesn't understand greatness. 2. The voice acting for the female Eivor is super disappointing. Switched to the Male Eivor and at least his accent sounds more natural and not as forced.
    3. The loot system is a HUGE bummer. I much prefer being able to switch out a huge variety of weapons like in Odyssey and not have to level up a single weapon. Maybe the endgame is different but 40 hours in and I have decided not to waste my time going further.
    4. The skill system is better. I gave the score a 1 because of that.
    5. Story is okay, I did not finish it so from the 40 hour mark on I'm not sure if it maybe resolves into something super satisfying but I'm writing this review now because I'm upset with this Assassin's Creed offering and think they can do way better.

Typical ubisoft crap that has nothing to do with assasins. The plot is shallow, the combat is clunky and cartoonish with only one finishing animation for each type of characters. If you want good viking stories just go finish all the Skellige side quest inthe Witcher 3. Aporta muchas mejoras comparado con su antecesor. Sin llegar a ser un titulo perfecto, sabe cautivar con el estilo vikingo de saqueos, banquetes y ambiciones. The next thing I unfortunately hate about this game is the environment, the color pallet and scenery are not at all suited to what is supposed to be England. The landscape could have been done so much better than it has been, but it feels as if it was designed by artists that have never left the city let alone visited the English countryside.

Finally I hate the how the vikings are very diplomatic and PC in this game. Vikings would not release hostages and when you plunder if you kill NPC's that are not solders you get told off and told you will de-synchronize. Vikings would have literally killed everyone, especially the clergy.

I wanted to love this game, i really did, I brought a new graphics card just to play it. But i don't think i actually like it, it feels a bit of a let down, the franchise had the chance to do something completely different with this game but overall the game feels bland and just a bit disappointing.

As a fan of Vikings and England, the historical setting was perfect for me. England looks very beautiful and is less overwhelming than Odyssey’s Greece. The settlement is also a great new feature and was really fun to upgrade. When you visit larger towns and cities, you can walk around cloaked using social stealth. Walking hooded amongst a couple monks really gave me that original Assassin’s Creed feeling. There are however a couple of bugs in the game. When you start a large raid or battle, the frames drop down a little. There are also some moments where the character seems to get stuck, but none of these bugs where game-breaking or had me reload it. They most likely don't even know / care about history that much. They just wanna whine about every game Ubisoft makes, because they think it makes them look cool, but in reality it makes them look stupid, because Assassin's Creed has millions of fans all over the world and they clearly understand the appeal of these games. These are likely more level headed people, so no wonder they don't come to sites like metacritic, they don't even care about places like that. But this site attracts losers who just wanna hate and whine. I Found this news-site from 2017 that was about "fake reviews on AC Origins". Then why has nobody removed all these fake zeros?? Let me first state that I'm a long time fan of the AC franchise, and love each and every game in it, including ACIII and Unity.
But while I do like Valhalla, I'm not loving it. Because the game has ISSUES. And because the game is nowhere near as fun as the previous games.
First, there is the loot, or the lack of it. The game world only contains handful of armor pieces and weps to be found. Meaning that most chest you find, only contain basic crafting materials. Dull, to say the least!
Then, there is the buggy combat. There is a clear lag on how your character reacts to button presses, and sometimes the hero does not react at all! You are full stamina, and NOT stunned, yet your character just stands there, unmoving, as you try to hammer your shoulder buttons to get the darned hero hitting the darned enemy! Serious bugs alert!
Companions are likewise buggy. Half the time they just ignore you when you command them do stuff on the battlefield. Which can lead you not being able to complete objectives. Ouch!
And then there is the way the hero often gets stuck to the environment, meaning you have to fast travel to get him out!
So, lotsa bugs and glitches aplently. But that's not my main issue.
The main issue is the Vikings themselves.
Now, if you've seen the brill Vikings TV series (2013 onwards), you know how bada*s Vikings can be when done right. Unfortunately, the Vikings in Valhalla are embarrassingly weak and unconvincing when compared to the bada*s Vikings of the Vikings (tm) TV series. Ha, Rollo alone could wipe out these weedy Vikings. With one hand tied behind his back!
Sure, you meet some real macho characters along the way, which helps, but its kinda sad when your hero feels a lame-o wannabe Viking...
So, Ubi did not get the Vikings quite right. They should've been lot tougher, and lot more merciless too. As it is, you get game over if your Vikings kill too many civilians in the game... Sigh...
But hey, on the positive side, the game looks utterly brill on PS4Pro, and runs very smoothly too. And once they clear the bugs, it'll be lot more fun to play. And the skill tree is pretty solid.
So, 8/10 from me. Good game, but could've been so much better.
Added later; I have to drop the score to 7. This is due to the heroes of Valhalla turning out to have zero charisma and personality. Far cry from the incredibly charismatic historic characters you met in ACII, III and Unity. When we meet characters like, say, Thor, in games, they're supposed to impress the heck outta us, Ubisoft, not bore us to death.
Also, I'm sick of the recurring drug episodes in the game. All Ubisoft games have drug infused, hallucinogenic episodes, prolly because Ubisoft crew is anxious to explain away their own drug habits, but in Valhalla, there's just too much of them. Not all gamers say yes to drugs, Ubisoft, even if you do.

Solid Assassin's Creed game, other than meh performance at times and some bugs, i have nothing really bad to say. They should bring it to steam, then it would be way easier to review this game. This user score should be way higher than it is, it's very clear that some user has made many fake accounts to give 0's to this.

Nobody talking about the video game! But are you serious?

Ubisoft is (finally) making great strides. This game has everything you need.Beautiful story, breathtaking settings, excellent skill system, varied and not very repetitive side missions.
For bugs, yes there are, it is now normal that the first days after launch have some. For my part, I cannot say that there are too many and in any case not annoying
This game is worth it. Beautiful and Ubisoft is redeeming itself.
Congratulations Ubisoft, this is the right way.

The exploration falls somewhere between that of Skyrim (compass + things appearing when close) and Ghost of Tsushima (visual queues), there's something organic about the whole.

The game offers so much variety that one has to question whether those who claim it is repetitive have actually played the game. The three main elements are the main story, raids for wealth and materials and the settlement building, the latter two are dispensable. Outside of that there are world activities, mysteries (in various forms ranging from encounters, to mini-puzzles, all helping towards world building), collectables (or artefacts, from parkour puzzles to chase down schematics to roman objects), minigames (drinking, flighting, dice games), hunting and fishing requests, assassinations (order of ancients, zealots, daughters of Lerion) and overall world exploring (this world is worth it, there's a photo round every corner for those who like to use the photomode).

All in all, the best the series has offered, using what worked in every entry and dismissing that which didn't. The combat could still be improved, but it's better than most of what came before (Unity had a combat system that worked in the setting, but was limited) and is closer to Origins than Odyssey. The parkour is limited, but the setting is also one that does not favour parkour (I think people place too much emphasis on this as it is only viable in settings that favour it, and having recently played ACII, I did not find myself using it much, favouring run around in the streets instead, the constant presence of guards on roofs does not make parkour that pleasant to use). As for stealth, Syndicate probably had the better stealth system, with the ability to crouch behind objects, but Odyssey was the game I used stealth in the most, and I find I'm using it a lot in Valhalla too, preferring to bow and assassinate my way through camps, but having the knowledge that I am combat ready should things fail. I think nostalgia makes people think the older games were more stealthy than they really were, ACII wasn't all that stealth focused.

Up there with Red Dead Redemption II and Ghost of Tsushima as one of my favourite games for sure.

I loved this at first, but the more I played, the more I just wanted it to be over. The huge power level gap they throw at you at the end also just doesn't feel good. The 3 hours or so that I played seemed really good. But that made it all the more frustrating when I had to literally put the game down and sit on my hands until they get a patch. That’s not why I pre-ordered this game. And aside from that game-ending bug, there were TONS of other bugs in it. About half the time I try to load the game my ps4 crashes and says “too hot”. Froze on loading screen, froze during boss battle, frame rate sucked, a door that was supposed to be destructible wasn’t. And I mean this is just what I can remember from the first 3 hours a week ago. I could have looked past a lot of it, but the game ending one really sucked

All in all I can’t really give a full, accurate review because this game wasn’t, and isn’t ready for release. I’d highly suggest everyone hold off until they get some of these bugs resolved, then buy the game after they get a couple patchs

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.
