The only reason this game is so well received is the current lack of new games in general. Gameplay resembles Odyssey but loot and ability systems are dumbed down. Theres a lot of gameplay without any innovation. It will bore you down after 1/3 of campaign (approx 20 in game hours).

If you're looking out for something to kill time, this one is for you, but you won't find anything

I'm also happy that one-shot assassination is back, something that should have always been there, i have no idea why it was even taken out, it makes no sense. Anyway it's back and works just like in older games. Map is huge, specially England, Norway is big enough too. Everything is not absolutely perfect obviously, but i wasn't expecting it to be, specially in year like 2020. What i mean by that, some bugs. But overall it's very good AC game. Here's a question for everyone who give score between 0 and 3, are you banned from youtube? Is it so difficult to watch some gameplay, before you buy it? I actually strongly doubt they even have it.

For me the game is simply in the middle between bad and good. For every aspect that I like there is something I don‘t like. Also there is nothing that‘s extremily bad or good. So a solit 5/10. If it on sale i would buy it. Have a good day :)

It's absolute shame that everyone can just make account on this site and spread misinformation, lies and hate without buying / playing the game. Steam is so much better in that regard and Steam user scores (while not perfect either) are way more accurate.
For example Far Cry 5 has very low user score on metacritic based on 1700 reviews, while literally same game on steam has over 67 000

For example Far Cry 5 has very low user score on metacritic based on 1700 reviews, while literally same game on steam has over 67 000 reviews and 76% of them are positive. That just shows that random bots can't make accounts on steam and write fake reviews, but on this site, they can and they always have. This 6.8 score in reality should be more like 7.6-8.1 but thanks to bots who give this game endless 0's, this score is lower. This usually only happens with extremely popular games and Assassin's Creed Valhalla indeed is extremely popular game. Another good comparison is RDR2 PC version score here and on steam, night and day difference and there's so many more like that.

Very fun game. I tried Odyssey before, but leveling took way too long and it just didn't click with me, but Valhalla is different and better. Leveling is actually fast, you get 2 skill points instead of 1 and you get them very often so you can build your power level rather quickly. Nothing stops you moving on with story anymore. World is also designed better than Odyssey.

Then there's this group of idiots who sht on all their games, while at the same time hyping up companies that release 2 games in ten fcking years. Ten years. It's not me hating on "CDprojectred", hell no, i like them very much. My point is that without Ubisoft, gaming landscape would be incredibly empty. Imagine world without Far Cry's Assassin's Creed's, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon's, Division's, Rainbow Six and so many more. There has to be some company that makes AAA games while these other companies makes two games in 10 years. How is it so hard to understand? Without Ubisoft there would be basically nothing, but endless multiplayer games and "Marvel's Avenger's" type of trash. That's not the world i wanna live in. I wanna live in world full of tons of different games each year. Of course there's also this bunch on sonyfanboys (again not talking about people who own playstation, talking about fanboys, i own playstation as well) that act like only games worth playing are console exclusives, that let's be honest are usually story simulators full of endless cutscenes, these are more movies than games, i personally want actual games ya know (and yes there are also good ones like Bloodborne.)
Everyone acts like life lasts forever and it's cool to endlessly whine about some companies while waiting 10 years for a game from another company. All we have is 100 years (usually way less) and then it's over. Forever. So instead of constant whining, either enjoy the game or just don't play it, if you don't like it. It's that simple.

This is the best out of the trilogy but so far away from being amazing. They really need to change a lot of things up to compete with some of the biggest open world games like Ghost of Tsushima, RDR2... the art direction just isn’t good. World is too colorful and unrealistic, combat is horrible.... story is the reason why I’m giving this a 6. Otherwise it’d be lower.

The world feels small, the enemies are either super easy or super hard, the bow is the best weapon, no need to actually go stealthy (in the mission where you have to learn where the king of Mercia is hiding you need to get the info from some lady in a tight security fortress and it was easy as cake to just jump in and kill everyone Rambo style), the way they emphasize you're creating your own story feels over exaggerated cause I feel like I can count on one hand how many times I've had to pick my own dialogue option, the game is generally clunky as in your character goes everywhere, the weapon animations are very repeating so you get tired of them quickly, the finishers are all the same on on each class as in the standard bearer has one and so on, and I dont feel like the order of the ancients or whatever has been tied in to the main quest at ALL. I killed one of them voluntarily and they just jumped into some random dialogue without an explanation of who she, the order member, was and what she was doing.

    Sound/Music 8/10
The music is beautiful, there's no denying that. However, the sound needs some polishing. Maybe it's just glitches here and there, but the sound acts weird, almost as if it comes from a tin can. Voice acting/dialogue 9/10
As a Dane, I absolutely love the fact that they've used Scandinavian actors to voice most of the Viking characters. A Viking with an American accent would've just been strange. The voice actings is great overall, althought a few of the voice actors sound like they're reading the script, rather than performing. The dialogue is a bit cringy at times, but overall it's great. Story 9/10
Not much to say on this. Although it doesn't stick to the "true Vikings" as it would've been way, way too dark, the story is very enjoyable. So why did I give the game overall a 10/10? Because I picked it up three days ago, and already have over 24 hours on it. And I'm not even halway through the story. It's the first AC game I thouroughly enjoy since Black Flag. Get it, play it, and enjoy it.

Of course this one deserves 10/10, i'm not saying it's 10/10 game, more like 8. This one is actually solid game and haters are trying to bring it dow. If any game deserves 10/10 right now it's AC Valhalla. Without these 10/10's this score would be under 6, because there's so many absolute shtheads who just give it 0 or 1. That's pathetic.

Reminds me Unity in some parts, specially tone wise, it's darker than Odyssey. As fan of Unity is appreciate it a lot. Also parkour is back, story is fun, but my favorite part so far has been just endless exploring. Can't wait to see what they do with Paris and Ireland.

Most Kraken myths come from Norway region and it's very obvious that Kraken was likely just very large giant squid. At least that's what i like to believe, it makes perfect sense, because they are very similar. Giant squid is very much real, so i'm not sure why all games are avoiding it, past Assassin's Creed games have had giant squid easter eggs, like in Black Flag, so why not this time? The parkour feels clunky and the horse and boat travel is frustrating as hell. Absolutely riddled with bugs (quests disappearing until restart, graphical glitches, game crashes.) The gear system was unrewarding in that you're almost forced to commit to one armor set for the entire game and punished heavily for wanting to use new weapons or armor. Not worth buying, and at the very least wait for the DLC and more stability patches. Expand

Ubisoft - we see through your preaching even if you try to include it as metaphor. There is zero point to making a historical video game if you dont even try to make it reminiscent of the time. We can make do with things left out or changed due to a lack of historical knowledge but ACV outright lies to our faces and that is unacceptable. Yes it's that bad, let's put aside the screen tearing, the audio bugs, the terrain bugs and the terrible map. Actually let's talk about the map, you're given 3 options at the beginning and really there isn't much of a need due to the same house design (the exact same houses, who knew vikings were into pre-fabs) and although your weapons can tear down the doors like papermache, a simple barricade can keep out an army.

Assassin creed games were once based on real life cities, or places and although certainly Norway etc does exist. none of what you see has any sort of historic bearing. Hell i'm wondering why they just don't call the games 'creed' and remove the unnecessary "hassassin" in there and the real world parts which make origins and odyssey blush.

The whole game just reminds you of how they could do better, how the game could be better... it's infuriating and frustrating. Like miles morales, this is not a next generation game. Ubisoft have become like the EA sports series.

This is one to avoid, one to not play... go dig out black flag but really, just avoid all creed games. This is terrible with a map designed by a high school drop out. We're used to gorgeous open world maps, filled with wonder... this is a clutterfest that degenerates itself so bad that i wonder why they included the village names at all....

Stealth is barely needed, the weapons feel terrible... i mean the saving grace may have been the dice game but meh; it's not as much fun as gwent, hell even trails of cold steel 4 has a better mini game than this

I will say that while in Norway I was impressed, I immediately found that changes fans asked for from the last AC creed game were made for Valhalla. So I should be yelling from the mountains how awesome this game is right?

WRONG!! Unfortunately, Valhalla, even with it's improvements and new additions to gameplay somehow still comes up short. The more you play Valhalla, the more tedious it gets and honestly, boring is a great word to describe the experience. The only thing I really enjoyed was the story, and even the story could get dull and dragged out at times. In the end, after everything, I could not help but feel a sense of pointlessness to this game.

I played on a PS4PRO and the graphics were fine, but sometimes it looked like a PS3 game with the framerate struggling. Combat felt okay at best, thank goodness for brutal decapitations and finishers. Immersion just never found me with all of the boring and tedious exploration, defeating elite enemies and beast that reward you with nothing. Oh, a new tattoo? Gee, thanks! I'll just go and put that new cool tat on my back while I wear a full suit of cool Viking gear!

Ubisoft cannot seem to decide what kind of game they want their Assassins Creed series to be anymore and the fans are suffering for it.

i can't even imagine how the story in assassins creed Valhalla is sooo great it really answered every question of the AC lore , i really enjoyed exploring Norway the snowy mountains and the amount of details on Norway and england is just breathtaking i also enjoyed about how ubisoft dealt with the traditional side quest i'm finally happy that there is no 30+ side quest in my inventory

side quests are now called world event which it took an average time of 5-10 mint to finish and it's not a waste of time the Game grant you with an epic loot , resources ,money and some of the world events are super funny

AC Valhalla focuses on quality over quantity unlike odyssey if you like a weapon on Valhalla you can actually keep it for the whole Game

    - the skills in Valhalla are important you can choose your play style and if you don't like it and you want to change no problem! you can refund all the points and start over and choose another play style . that much said Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a good game that corrects many of the missteps found in Odyssey, offering a number of interesting improvements to the series formula

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.
