    I was so hyped for this... growing up with the Warcraft franchise and playing Wc3 for hours upon hours, this release is all but a total let down. What company with self respect would market this the way they did, then go under radar and backing off on almost all of the promised content? This edition somehow manages to be a DOWNGRADE of an 18 year old game. Custom campaigns, clans, and arranged teams have all been removed. There is also a new EULA that is highly restrictive towards custom maps. The worst part is that BlizzardWhat an absolute fail by Blizzard. They continue to falsely advertise the game with the promise of remastered cutscenes that don't even exist. This edition somehow manages to be a DOWNGRADE of an 18 year old game. Custom campaigns, clans, and arranged teams have all been removed. There is also a new EULA that is highly restrictive towards custom maps. The worst part is that Blizzard forcibly deleted everyone's old installations so you can't get those features back even if you try.     I made an account to say that I grew up with this game and was excited for Reforged and Blizzard up and ruined NOT ONLY Reforged but the regular, old 2002/2003 TFT version...

    After the **** they pulled with that Hearthstone tourney, I decided I was done buying Blizzard products. Didn't think I'd find myself refunding the last thing I ever bought from them. Goes to show you shouldn't preorder.

    Rather than fixing bugs, they kept adding new bugs with each new patch. Now the game is much more unstable. Custom maps that used to run fine now desync and crash more frequently. Their lack of QA is just so sad

    Broke the original while Activision-Blizzard collect money for literally nothing. After supporting blizzard for 16 years I'm done. I own every game they have pushed out, and atleast I had fun while they were fun. This company isn't trust worthy and hasn't been in a while.

But when game finally launched, it was a complete dumpster on fire. Full of bugs, unfinished, what was promised during Blizzcon panel was not delivered, all just lies and disappointment.     Somehow i knew that the cinematic would not reflect how the game looks, because Blizzard always know how to make exceptional cinematics, but the end result is really bad in my opinion. Are you serious that this is Arthas here? He surely doesn't look like it.

    Second, what is up with the story? You are telling me that 18 years later, the story is worse than the original?

    And don't get me started with the custom maps nonsense that Blizzard added in the EULA.
    What Blizzard is saying is that, every work that somebody puts in to create awesome maps and mods for the community, that belongs to Blizzard? Forever?
    Hey, it's nice to have developers that you don't pay right? Nice thinking there Activision. How about you fire all your employees and start making games for free by using random people online.

    seventeen years on the same account. This is trash. Give us back warcraft 3. It pains me to not endorse this game that I have loved for so long. I hoped for many years this game would see a revival but this is not it. Absolute abysmal failure at best and complete theft at worst.

After all the hype lasting for soem 2 years we are served unfinished product with merely replaced textures for 30 USD, that's a joke. It deserves -10 not even a 0. Shame on you activision.

    Misleading advertisment, i played the classic version and bought warcraft 3 reforged a few days ago. Reforged is missing a lot of the advertised and classic features, not sure how it is possible to have less game mechanics than the classic game. Also people who own the classic game are now forced to use the reforged version.

    I really wanted to like this game, but it's unplayable in its current state, and it robbed players of the classic game as well, denying everyone the pleasure of playing the original masterpiece that was Warcraft 3. Hopefully Blizzard puts forth the effort, but I feel like the percentage of that happening at this point is the same as the score I'm giving it.

It wouldn't even be a year before you banned lobbies and killed any kind of competitive play this game could've possibly had. Less than two years after it you killed classic game entirely. I had never been much of a gamer, nor was I invested in any game--until I fell in love with WC3. The lore was enthralling, the gameplay satisfying, and the presentation was unmatched.

    Then Reforged released, and my heart is now broken.

    Core faults:
    - Nearly all of the upgraded features advertised we're ignored and not implemented
    - Multiplayer function is virtually non-existent
    - Single player campaign is difficult to bear with 'upgraded' models injected directly into cut-scenes which are two decades outdated, and frame rates that are abysmal during scenes and gameplay

    There are many other detailed complaints which can be identified, but the list goes on, and painfully so. Save yourself from this unquestionable mistake by Activision-Blizzard and stay away.    … Expand

    Let this game serve as a reminder to never pre-order, no matter how hard it is for a company to screw the game up.

    There are no reforged cinematics, no ladders, no ingame social features (guilds)...

    This should be treated as false advertising, a scam.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another insult from Blizzard (after Diablo:Immortal) to a century-old fan-base of a franchise that used to set standards in a genre.

    The only new thing the Reforged version offers is as single cutscene for the fight between Arthas and Illidan, which features two whole voice-lines of "hmmm" and cheesy blade clashing.
    The "new" (if any) voice-acting is awful and emotionless.
    The rest of the game is basically a few new HD assets, upscaled cutscenes and textures.

    To make things worse, they decided to restrict Custom Maps that may contain copyrighted character models. Custom Maps are the only thing that kept the game alive in the long run.

    All in all, this game is a major rip-off and doesn't deserve any praise, let alone money.    … Expand

    i am sad that blizzard put so little effort and resources into a game that made the prestige of their company. warcraft deserved a lot more than this. the game has many bugs and problems still. the quality of the terrain does not match the quality of the models and buildings, so it still looks old in some cases.

    This is the first and last time I will leave a review on Metacritic. I grew up with this game and even though it holds immense nostalgia with the custom games. Reforged somehow manages to have LESS features than the original.     Big disappointment. All they had to do was update models and maybe fix UI for me as i didn't really care for updated cutscenes. Instead they made the game entirely worse. A lot of sounds are missing that where present in the old game ;jobs done, work complete, ANY unit spawning??? On top of it a few units have a really high pitched noise in the background making it almost unbearable toBig disappointment. I really don't see what the point of this was other than trying to grab more money out of people, But why they think taking clans, ladder, animated portraits, and custom games away from people want to incentivize buying the new game is beyond me. So far those of us with original CDs the second i click the multiplayer button Battlenet will install all the new bugs that weren't present before, amazing.

    To top it all off they are completely denying any form or refund despite the blatant false advertising such as one of the cut scene that doesn't actually exist in the game ON THEIR OWN SITE!    … Expand

    How bad can it get? I mean it is remastering an almost 2 decades old game. The worst for me is lying! The UI, cinematics everything was a lie. Refunding the game is now an issue. Everyone should get their money back. Free advice Blizzard get rid of Activision and your CEO's they are running this franchise into the ground. The worst experience I have ever had with a game by far.

    My disappointment is such that I created an account on metacritic just to let the community knows:

    -No more battle.net platform as you used to know
    -No more ladder
    -No more profile with statistic
    -No more animated icon
    -20 fps with my gtx1080
    -buggy asf
    -units life bar as old as the game
    -minimap as old as the game
    -no reworked cutscenes (just the old one)

    I preordered the normal Warcraft 3 reforged edition a week before launch but had my eye on this game for 6-7 months. They pushed it back a month and after it came out I couldn’t even play it. I tried to find a vs match which didn’t work then decided to play the campaign which btw crashes literally EVERY TIME I try and play it, it crashes within 5-25 min into the campaign.     The advertising done for this game included new cut scenes and features that are not even in the game. On top of that current features are removed and the only thing new are the major issues of bugs and difficulties in playing the game. This is not a nostalgia trip to the good old days but a slap across the face to remind you everything good you remembered does not exist anymore.

    I wouldn’t have pre-purchased the game had I known it being this terrible. As Someone who was a fan of Blizzard for 20 years, I’m very disappointed. It’s not like we were expecting Warcraft 4, just a remastered version of a most influential strategy game to this date. Amazing how they manage to scale up their level of pissing the fan base off year after year.

    It is the worst game ever made

    the game is a (poor) reskin that doesn't even have remotely close to all the working features of the original game, let alone the additional features that were promised. Also it runs poorly and probably can't hold 60 FPS in 2v2 even on state of the art hardware.

Blizzard banning people’s accounts on the forums who are trying to help with refunds is also an absolute disgrace. I’m shocked at how far the company has fallen, I remember when I looked forward to Blizzard’s game announcements, but now I just think how little the company will actually deliver to what they tell us. I haven’t even mentioned the disregard for previous owners of wc3 and how they have been forced into this new infrastructure.… Expand

    -They left out A LOT of things. They just didn't put them in, or even bother to put them into a patch. No word as of this review when they will be added

    -no skirmish
    -offline play has "timeouts" instead of a proper pause. Really guys? Did it cost that much to put that in or are you just power hungry?
    -No new UI, it's just a painted over UI of the old one
    -Absolutely zero Quality of Life upgrades. None. They are non existent.
    -None of the cutscenes are remastered or redone or anything. They removed the Stratholme cutscene AND IT IS STILL IN THE GAME FILES
    Biggest blunder from Activision Blizzard. Both companies are responsible for this mess, for having yes men who blindly agree with everything in Blizzard without even saying "stop we need more time" and for Activision for just seeing this as paycheck. I give the company another 5-10 years MAX before they are no more.    … Expand

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
