    I own the original game. Played it for a VERY long time. I refunded this game after playing for an hour or so. It is so disappointing. Very poorly done game but a company that is in its downfall.

    How to slaughter an original which had a 92 metacritic score? Step-by-step guide provided by Activision Blizzard:
    1- Create a hype by showing features and improvements that won't make it to the retail product. (Cutscenes, UI, etc)

    Don't get me wrong, there are changes in the game but it's such a halfway between "staying true" and "improving" that you can't like it either way you stand on it. It fails to deliver a sleek retexture as Starcraft Remastered and it fails to make new stuff by having them look clanky, outdated or downright missing. New players who did not experience WC3 will have a dated-feeling RTS, people who played WC3 back in the day and returned will be offered nothing beyond "new models" that look good but by no means feel like a 2020 remake, and players who kept playing after all this time will be stripped of stuff they already had for granted and even have custom games threatened by new policies. Heck, even players who wanted nothing to do with WC3R are feeling the repercusions of this game.
    TLDR: this game offers nothing truly new, it satisfies none of it's audiences, it hyped people to preorder with stuff that do not exist ingame or are completely different from what was advertised.
    This is not an acceptable RTS game for 2020 and especially not from the same creators who developed one of the cornerstones of this genre.    … Expand

    The game is so disappointed. Blizzard upgraded the picture and nothing surprised me what they have done just looks like a fan-work not like a Blizzard work. By the way, they should also upgrade the mini map and their management system.

    I love Warcraft III and I love custom games from this game. And was happy that Blizzard going to improve this game.
    But the "Warcraft III: Reforged" is not an improved old game, in reality, it is worsened and truncated version. And I can't play the old Warcraft III game now because of super-duper "backwards-compatibility".

    Но когда они сделали так что АРХИМОНДА можно просто заковырять медведями с дриадами тут я уже не могу молчать. Кака можно перерисовывая игру сделать хуже? Им просто надо было ничего делать а просто рисовать но нет ( хотя может при переносе пришлось реально переписывать всю физику итд но блин хотя бы могли АB тестирование провести с оригиналом)

    I've been playing Warcraft 3 since it came out. I've been there for it all, the ladder pros, the clans, the custom games, everything. I made custom maps, I learned JASS, I climbed the ladder, I made clans, I left clans, I loved this game.

    I would go so far as to say that the company that made reforged can no longer be called Blizzard.

    This is a bug ridden release that is well documented, so I won't go into that. Instead I'll talk about the artwork. This release brings the Warcraft 3 universe under the WoW fold in terms of art. If you were around back in the day, you would know that the art styles for the two games were different in some departments. That unique vibe that warcraft 3 had was perfect for the genre and led to the sprawling custom game scene that would eventually create entire new projects outside of WC3.

    Now, art is subjective, sure, but even looking at the tauren chieftain, you can tell they went wrong. The tauren chieftain has been transformed from a brutish warrior with glowing eyes to an incel cow with a bowl cut. Why am I referring to this specific example? Because when I picked up this game all those years ago, the first enemy hero that I saw was the tauren chieftain. I got just a glimpse of it in the fog of war as it was going around creeping and I was staying in my base because I didn't know creeping was something you should do. I was terrified to leave my base. So they take this extremely effective imagery and "reforge" it into a completely neutered version of itself. They took the heart out of the game in order to cash out one more time on the remaster train.

    Disaster. The game looks like the classic one but it's completely broken. Only US and EU servers, rest of the world 200+ ping, impossible to play online. Old cinematics, reforged cinematics were cancelled and you know about it when you play the game. Absolutely horrible. Worst launch ever.

    The in game 'cutscene' with Sargeras and Illidan literally looks worse than the old games; washed out colors and removed background assets. This game had next to no polish put into it. Seriously, no custom game search/join/loading screen improvement? Literally the same as before.

    Many people say the thing with cutscene is only our expectations...Well, we expected to see what we saw on blizzcone, and as i found out its the only cutscene that was "reforged" AND EVEN IT DIDN'T MAKE IT INTO THE GAME LOL.

    -Loads of glitches and bugs.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No bot battles. No PVP clans/ladders. Custom games seriously effed up. Buggy stattery gameplay - even the menus bug out occasionally. Original game clients disappearing or being effed up. People can't play the games THEY BOUGHT 18 YEARS AGO (yes I have the original CDs). Whatever "reforging" of cinematics, esp. the epic fight at the end of main game, it made them simply worse and stupid. Missing voice acting from units. Lots of what people loved in the original game is gone - and on top of that Blizzard doesn't let people own the custom games they create. AND ON TOP OF THAT, they ban people who mention this stuff in forums and demand refunds.

The preview last 2018 was a lot better than the actual product. This is like Beta version if not alpha version at launch date. I regret pre-ordering this game. Probably my last blizz game.     Absolutely insulting to insert a load of legalese into the game stating that Blizzard will take user generated content and claim ownership over it. Simply because they missed out on Dota. Do not buy this game. Do not generate content for it. Your creativity is being stolen by a morally and ethically bankrupt company which is happy to tread on its fanbase.

    Warcraft 3 itself is a 10/10 game. But it is a game I've owned for years. Blizzard made me pay money to downgrade my experience of the game, and there's no way back to the game that I love.

    I created a metacritic account just to add another 0 to the torrent of negative reviews.

    I gave it a one because it is WC3. I played for an hour and requested a refund. This game is garbage and a total embarrassment for a once great game developer. The Blizzard of old is long since gone. This was the final nail in the coffin for me. This game is inexcusable.

    Summing up: Early launch with tons of issues (Framedrops, Bugs, Client performance)
    Advertising one thing and selling another: False promises for content, cut scenes, and more. Tying the content-creators' hands with new EULA. Refund fiasco with multiple rejections.     I couldn't start the campaign. Couldn't play custom games. There's no ladder and matchmaking wasn't even working. Menu is broken and some features don't work. The only thing I could do in the game was stare at the main menu and chat with other disappointed players in the global chat.

    The same game, however worse, it is a 2003 game released in 2020, very pathetic. I will never do pre-selling more, it is worse than playing a casino, because you don´t know what will come, the promotion video is fake, there´s nothing in the final game, like the cutscenes in campaing for example;

    Blizzard should be ashamed of themselves, I made this account just to voice my anger; Warcraft 3 was my childhood, and not only have they spat out this abortion that they call a remaster, but they've gone and retroactively destroyed the original games people have owned for 16 years. Never buying another product from them again.

    I created a metacritic account for this, I am so disappointed on this game, I pre-purchased this game when it announced a year ago, because I played this game in my whole childhood. I was so excited that Blizzard decided to reforge this game and now what I am seeing is a reskin game, this is not the game Blizzard promised a year ago.

    Plus even if you get your excretion together Blizzard by fixing numerous problems you've yourselves created, it is extremely demotivating that you claim ALL ownership even to the slightest wipe of terrain in custom games.

    So many points to speak out, so little time.

    I have wasted hundreds of euros to World of Warcraft back in the days (maybe even 2-2,5k), and this is a repayment in kind, huh?

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
