    This is an absolute disgrace and disaster. Not only does it not have the features that were (and still ARE!) promised on their official website, such as reworked cutscenes (that Blizzcon "Culling of Stratholme" trailer? A complete lie) or UI (the UI is the same as the old version), it also has less features overall than the classic version had on launch! And if you happen to own theThis is an absolute disgrace and disaster. Not only does it not have the features that were (and still ARE!) promised on their official website, such as reworked cutscenes (that Blizzcon "Culling of Stratholme" trailer? A complete lie) or UI (the UI is the same as the old version), it also has less features overall than the classic version had on launch! And if you happen to own the classic verison, if forcibly downgrades to Reforged (with Reforged's graphics being behind the paywall). Not only that, the game is also buggy, poorly balanced, the graphics are downgraded from the trailers (and they weren't exactly mind-blowing there either) and from the classic version as well! And even if you try the classic graphics mode, it still looks worse than the actual Warcraft 3 classic client!

    Blizzard, you had ONE job: give one of the best games of all time a fresh new coat of paint. Instead the only thing you painted is a target on your backs.

    Horrible game, not even in 2003 could you get this bad. Hilarious how they even failed to make a reskin of an old game but not competent enough to create features we had back 17 years ago! This company went from being the best to being trash in no time. The hilarious part is they are banning people for asking refund for the game or helping others getting refunds.

    On the official website the promotional video for the game that features rich story telling, new camera angles for in game cinematics etc.. You get NONE OF IT. Literally just a re-skin. the hole new 4 mins of new cinematics are so bad, the animations are just funny to watch not fluid at all.

    I am very sorry but this game totally disappointed me. I dont recommend to buy it. The Warcraft 3 - yes that old one is only one i can play. Uninstalled it after several tries. Loading SCREEN is FROM 1990? WHY???

    What a disappointment. This was purely a cash grab. They've also doubled down updating their policy claiming rights to every map you make and banning anything they deem to be copyright material. No more fan maps for tv shows and games. Their new model is to steal game ideas from aspiring children and game developers.

    The whole game is just a blanket covering the major terms and policies rewriting trying to scam players. Old bugs from original W3, bunch of new bugs, broken balanse, unfuffiled promises and almost non-existent re-texture - that's all you gonna find here. They even removed national localisation's voice acting. So in fact, this "reforged" version offers you less than original game.

    I noticed that critics did not understand what this game was supposed to be about. It's not a new release it's a remaster no matter how Activision Blizzard calls it. And as such remaster it absolutely fails. Failing to keep their promises about New UI, more Battle net features (actually much much less) Acti/Blizz really dropped the ball. Add to that Performance Issues, replacing oldI noticed that critics did not understand what this game was supposed to be about. It's not a new release it's a remaster no matter how Activision Blizzard calls it. And as such remaster it absolutely fails.     I think everything has been said before me about this game. My score is based on the fact, that I can't even play the game on my high end gaming rig, because it is lagging constantly (5-10 FPS).
    Update: I modify my score from 2 to 4, because they gave me a refund.

    Well, this is happening. W3 Reforged is not even a remake. The game's graphics are not improved. They are looking like the same. Also this game have problems with optimisation. And all user created maps are now owned by Blizzard.
    I have one advice for all gamers. Don't buy any game from Blizzard. There are many good MMORPG's instead of WoW. There are many good Hack and Slash games instead    Well, this is happening.     Blizzard promised a remake, remastered version with new cut scenes. What we got is an HD reskin. The preview last 2018 was a lot better than the actual product. This is like Beta version if not alpha version at launch date. I regret pre-ordering this game. Probably my last blizz game. I made an acct for metacritic just to write this review. Absolutely disappointed.

The blizzard I used to know and love is gone. I won't be purchasing any new blizzard titles from now on. The laziness and non existent care put into this release is mind blowing.     Got excited, pre-ordered and got like the same game like 2002, but with slightly better graphics. However, there were massive performance problems, promised content was missing and a lot of features from the old version have been stripped.

    It's a mess. Thank god I got a refund.

    I wish it was a product created with thought and care. Instead it's a result of false marketing, little faith in success and extremely low budget. The best and the only new part of this edition is the models, and ironically they were outsourced.

    Blizzard should haven't given promises which they couldn't handle, if it was advertised with less ambitious ideas - the outcome would be different.

    Blizzard has decided to screw over all custom game creators by claiming all custom games made in their world editor are their intellectual property. Reforged is in general a forced downgrade for wc3. They have killed a game that still had an active player base.

    Campaigns are barely updated. There are a lot more bugs in the game than ever before. Worst of all, essential game features such as a ladder system, custom campaigns and offline play have been removed.

    I pre-ordered WC3:R shortly after it's announcement 2018 because I loved Starcraft as a child and naturally    A personal review from someone that played every Blizzard RTS from Starcraft. I didn't pay too much attention to what was promised about the campaign and I think any problems with cutscenes and such have been discussed enough by now. Trying to share my perspective on this game.

    I pre-ordered WC3:R shortly after it's announcement 2018 because I loved Starcraft as a child and naturally progressed to WC3 when it released back in the day. I really looked forward to this as I LOVE RTS and it's competitive side. I've been looking for my RTS laddering fix for a long time.
    Sadly the remake of Starcraft was a huge failure in my book and didn't revitalize the scene. A major problem for me was how the ladder was set up. It was literally like Brood Wars - a 1v1 ladder with only the most basic stats. Games are more fun with friends though and I even convinced some friends that wanted to play 2v2 ladder with me. I'm a good RTS player because I spent thousands of hours practicing. None of my real life friends come close and aren't interested in playing 1v1s with me. Getting stomped is no fun and it's no fun for me either. Somehow I expected a remake to provide improvement on that side - a league system like present in SCII for example. Many of the games problems aren't fixed to this day.

    The beta already offered a first glance at WC3:R when I played it in early December 19. I struggled to even get into a game due to a lot of bugs but the games I got into I actually enjoyed. A shocking moment was when I tried to team up with a friend and it wouldn't work whatsoever. I credited it to the non-working Battle.net-friends implementation and tried to keep my hopes up. I even wrote a lengthy post on the official forums pointing out problems, hoping for a delayed release to fix everything and them not repeating the mistakes they made with their Starcraft remaster.

    When I saw they postponed the release I was VERY hopeful they got the message and this will actually be the big thing we waited for. Sadly, it isn't. To my disappointment I had to see that even functionalities that we already had in the original game were removed.
    For example:
    There’s no competitive ladder right now. You read that right - the very company that ignited the passion for RTS esports in so many gamers released the remake of their amazing game without a competitive ladder! There’s also no profiles or tournaments like there were in the original game

    I really didn’t have any expectations for anything singleplayer related and I’d have been fine even if they kept the old ladder system. I mean I really hoped for the introduction of a division-like system and quality of life functionalities like reconnecting to your games. Maybe even live-spectating would have been a cool idea.

    The sad reality is that they removed one of THE key aspects from the game (speaking about competitive ladder). This game is far worse compared to the game it was supposed to remaster and I just can’t wrap my head around how you could **** up both the Starcraft and Warcraft remaster. I mean the game already was brilliant, there wasn’t much to do besides graphic overhaul, bringing existing systems more in line with nowadays industry standards and maybe adding basic quality of life features as the cherry on top.
    Unless they add a good iteration of a ranked competitive play soon, and I’m talking a matter of days here, this game is dead on arrival. I’ve seen how they handled Starcraft and if there’s nothing done about it now it’s not gonna be fixed even in a year from now.

    Giving it 1/10 just because the game plays good when it actually works, just like the classic version of the game. Everything else about it is a cluster****. If you are trying to decide whether to buy or not please read up if the thing you care about is actually in the game right now. If you are about competitive play like I am don’t bother right now.    … Expand

To be fair it gets some right in the graphical department and some models are def better then wc3 classic and rebirth. But alot is worse then even classical, let alone rebirth.

    Now I know of the false advertising practices and the outsourcing of the graphics.     I can’t say anything positive about the game, the developers of which force us to upgrade to "reforged" by downloading 25GB for this and don’t give the right to choose whether we want it or not.
    Not only that, I lost all the save, I was not warned, a complete disregard for the audience.

    No redone cut-scenes, no improved UI, no adjusted plot to current lore state. Not Reforged, just redrawn, re-voiced. Overall this one seems like piece of false advertisement from Blizzcon 2018.
    Classic Warcraft 3 client is gone, new one seems better but some functionality like clans is lost.
    I doubt Blizzard fix this failure, but hope a bit though.

Units get stuck, spells will randomly fail to hit, because of the unit collision feeling different it also feels imbalanced just based on that. I played many many many hours of the original and this just almost feels like a cheap knockoff done by an independent studio. 0/10 do not recommend.… Expand

    I could start talking about the state of the “reforged” models, which look unpolished to say the least, or go about how those animations looked chopped, and even if your game says that it’s running at high FPS, you have to constantly double check it because your eyes tell you that you are not seeing more than 20 FPS… But going over all of that would turn this review into an essay.

    The performance, the bugs, the mutilation of the classic client and a clear step backwards tells an incomplete story that I for sure will wait until in a few years we see the documentary of “Warcraft III: Reforged. What went wrong?” to try to understand all the choices that led to the savage obliteration of a classic game. Releasing this even for free would be an insult.    … Expand

    This is neither a preserved classic, nor a port for it to the year 2020.
    The graphics are kind of OK. But that is pretty much all it achieved because even feature wise it is a big downgrade.
    Controls are as clumsy and limited as in the original.

    And now you ruined my favourite one. You didn't only launch a game which is CLEARLY not finished, with BUGS, 90% copy-pasted and charge us 30€ for it. You REMOVED the access to the original game. I had friends there, MANY FRIENDS, I kept playing with them after 5-10 years. The community was still VERY ALIVE, even new maps being launched. You removed the best thing I kept from my childhood, you took away from me a game that was with me since I started playing when I was 3 years old.

    You have always been my favourite developer/publisher, Blizzard. And Warcraft III was, is, and will forever be my favourite game.

    And you know what? Blizzard is still my favourite developer. BLIZZARD, not A¢t¥v¥$ion B£¥$$ard. You are just like EA. No. WORSE than EA. I will never EVER spend a single € on your games. Never again.

    Blizzard has been going downhill since the merger with Activision. We were hoodwinked with false advertising, yet again (something worthy of a class-action lawsuit). The campaign is fine, but the multiplayer is bugged.

    I am fan of warcraft. I've played warcraft 1 and 2 on the pentium 2 and playstation one.
    I've played warcraft 3 company about 10 times, and played custom maps for about 10 years.
    I've played wow for 3 years. I went to the cinema for warcraft movie (That was not bad, but worse than i'd expected. But what is your wc3 reforged? Looks like a spit on my face!

    WTF with the Blizzard taking all the rights from custom modes? Why would someone build any custom mode with the chance to go viral but to win nothing? Other than that the cut scenes feel like garbage. This doesn't feel like a reforge just a re-launch to win more money, but this is what has been moving companies more money and less quality in the end that IS what matters.

So I bought it. The game did NOT deliver.     In addition to everything everyone has already pointed out I hardly see any comment about the new use policy. Basically everything a custom map creator creates belongs to Blizzard now. I'm not expecting much from this game anymore even if they fix a lot of this f****** mess...
    Guess I'll try for a refund and hope for the best.

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
