    imagine the fealings you got when you heard that your childhoods most memorable game was remastered. A game that was perfect and was still great in 2020. Imagine buying that game, willingly paying 30 bucks for it because it was your most favourite game and you loved it. Imagine then, logging into the game and realising that it was just a big fat Bobby Kotick joke and the game is even worseimagine the fealings you got when you heard that your childhoods most memorable game was remastered.     I literally just created a metacritic account so I can review this... I know everyone else already said what is wrong about this game, but this is the defining proof that Blizzard does not care about their paying customers anymore. They care more about pleasing their investors so that Ol' Johnny Boy can get his own yacht. This game is the undisputed definition of a cash grab.

    Not only the game on release is plagued by bugs and technical issues both on the client and server side, it also did not deliver features advertised (and shown!) by Blizzard.     I mostly played the campaign and against AI in the original. But this is a disgrace. I remember seeing the cinematics in 2018 and was hyped. The ones in reforged for what little touch up was done could have been done by a youtuber in their basement. No wait, a youtuber would actually care about what they were releasing and a lot of the bugs wouldn't have been there.

    The amount of broken features upon release combined with the false advertising makes me feel violated as a consumer who paid money for this. I would have given this game a 1 but after realizing I could not simply play the original instead(It consumed the original Warcraft 3 as well) so this gets a fat 0 for breaking a classic.

    Cant even play through a campaign mission without the game causing my PC to crash to blue screen. Safe to say this game is blue screen crashing my nostalgia, respect and patience for Warcraft as a franchise and Blizzard as a company. I will play their free to play (without paying for micro transactions) but i doubt I will be purchasing any more from Blizzard.     The game doesn't add anything to the story. It is not a refirge more like a texture pack. But coming back on promises, scaling back shadows and forcing people with the original game to upgrade while destroying the creative community is why I have to give a zero. This is unacceptable and just is a disgrace to the people

    My favorite movie ever is Twilight, the saga. I really enjoy watching love stories that also have some action and special effects. Of course, it's kind of foolish watching vampires and wolves fighting against each other but it's enterteining. I have also read the books.     Blizzard has a paragraph in the user agreement for this game that they have exclusive rights to any custom game which is made in this game. Just unbelievably **** from one of the companies who used to be my #1 by miles. This game does not deliver on what it promises and I am not even going to start on the price (40$) on what is essentially a HD mod.

    Completely ruined literally everything that was good about the online experience.... terrible UI, terrible chat rooms, the game is choppy and lags terribly on the main UI, no profiles, no ladder, forced to reforged and cant even revert back to wc3tft. Best of all? No response yet to any complaints a week later...

    Décevant au possible... les modèles ont été refaits, c’est la seule nouveauté. L’environnement (arbres, etc) est moins joli que dans le jeu original... les cinématiques sont les mêmes que le jeu original, on croirait qu’elles ont été améliorée avec un filtre Snapchat... scandaleux

    I remember the times when I used to play WC3 LAN games. Most of the many hours I played were in DOTA, the original WC3 DOTA that is. I could forgive many other things, but Blizzard killed off what made those times possible with their new EULA. And that I can't forgive.

    Awful. By all means create a new version for those that want it but don't, and I mean, don't remove the original client as well. For those of us who aren't interested in reforged and would rather play the original, well tough. Unbelievable. So a game I purchased a licence key for, many years ago is now defunct and I've been left with 0 choice. Thanks Blizzard.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In 2018 Blizzard announced WC3 Reforged and proceed to hype the fact this was not a remaster it was going to go well beyond that. It effectively became the premier announcement at Blizzcon and the developers showed off early game-play footage and cinematic/cut scenes that looked impressive. In fact, there was a huge amount promised including backwards comparability, new cinematic style cut-scenes, upgraded graphics and story-lines to bring the game into WoW lore.

    What conspired has been nothing short of disingenuous and down right discussing. Reforged could best be described as 'Remastered Lite' and effectively released in what could be considered an Alpha like state.

    Not only have the majority of the key advertised features been cut from the final product that game is extremely unstable and void of features that existed in the original game that is now 17 years old!

    What makes it worse is that the community had been telling Blizzard all of this during the Beta and before and yet the Developers remained virtually silent and still remain silent days after the launch.

    Blizzard then has the nerve try and deny some people a refund for a game they are still advertising with missing features. On top of that they sneakily update the user agreement claiming intellectual property rights for any ideas and concepts developed by the community.

    This is not the Blizzard we grew up with. WC3 Reforged is a disgrace to Warcraft and should never have been allowed to launch in its existing state. Its only redeeming quality is that most of the updated unit models look decent but when put side by side with the current terrain the game does not look that much better.

    Is a review score of less than one justified in this case? Yes, yes it is!    … Expand

    Cant seem to change keybindings without editing a file. Menu screen doesn't seem to load properly. unable to just play a 1v1 computer match (where are the maps to download?). Its like this game was designed to be played on console.

    Forces you to download reforged even if you don't own it. False advertisement on cut-scenes. Took away from base game to force you to go to new game. New game is filled with bugs. Reforged even took away more features in general. They both killed their old game and replaced it with a worse version.

    Extremely disappointed. I waited so long in anticipation only to be devastated at how poor the quality is. I was expecting a 'Game of the Year' experience and received a popcorn fart. Do not buy this game! Activision Blizzard lied on their advertisements to get us to preorder and severely under delivered. If I do not receive a refund, I will sue them.

    This was one of my most played RTS of all time along with Star Craft. I was really looking forward to it and having looked at what has been finally released is extremely disappointing. Most of the promises have been broken and this is shameful.

    It is truly amazing how Blizzard has managed to release the game in a far worse state than it was in 2002. And not only that, but also in effect voiding the old copies from back then in a forced downgrade. Shameful.

    I never played the original Warcraft III so I feel I am in a position where I can offer an unbiased opinion. I have only been playing for a couple of hours and I'm having fun with the game. If you haven't played the original, you will have fun with the remake. Though I can completely understand why fans are pissed.

    False Advertising and empty promises is now their new logo, i would NOT recommend pre-purchasing anything related to blizzard ever again. The only positive thing about all this experience is to learn the lesson to never trust this company.

    Don't buy this. It is buggy and promised features are not implemented. But the most annoying part is that the old warcraft 3 is gone. You can't play it anymore. I had switched back to classic and never gave a bad score on here if I could play classic TFT. Blizz failed. Failed hard.

    Too many comments here consist primarily of emotional outrage, so let's recap the facts and let them speak for themselves.

    - Unit models look fine - while standalone and standing still. They are terribly animated and no longer have the recognizeability required for an RTS. Group fights look like a mess. Extra attack animations are removed, animation framerate is janky.     - Unit models look fine - while standalone and standing still. They are terribly animated and no longer have the recognizeability required for an RTS. Group fights look like a mess. Extra attack animations are removed, animation framerate is janky. Certain units that have been recolors were given distinct models, but others were clearly cut from development due to time constraints. For example, generic DK hero uses Arthas' model unlike in the original.

    - Terrain and effects look terrible. Blurry textures, spell effects either completely unchanged or barely noticeable. Chain lightning is just a dinky zap. Building art style does not resemble the unit one.

    - 3d menu replaced with 2d dioramas and has terrible performance not unlike a browser game... because it is exactly that. A web movie played in a Chromium extension.

    - Crucial features for competitive play either don't work properly (matchmaking) or are removed outright (ladder). Player statistics were supposed to be migrated from old Warcraft III but are not.

    - The promised "reforged" engine cutscenes are nowhere to be seen. Instead of cinematic camera and models acting with extra animation and expression as shown in the trailer, you have the same thing as original: units standing there while talking portraits recite a voiceover.

    - Terrible performance and optimization all around. Only the strongest machines can run this without major framerate dips, despite the graphics barely warranting the minimum system requirements.

    - Copious bugs in campaign, such as possibility of instant defeat upon mission starting, and hard crashes to desktop.

    - EULA changes which dictate what you can and can't do with the editor, effectively prohibiting many custom games because they use custom models, and including Blizzard claiming ownership (up to and including "moral rights", even if those can't be waived by definitiion) of any and all maps and game mods made in the editor.

    - Perhaps worst of all, this thing goes back in time and retroactively ruins the classic Warcraft III by replacing it entirely without warning. Players who do not have Reforged have 30 gigabytes of new assets downloaded anyway and have to play the new release with all its bugs, just without the option to enable what is effectively a 30$ HD model pack. Even the classic presentation is effected by altered environment and spell effects, not looking true to the original. In short, what would've otherwise be a mediocre cash grab that barely improves anything about the original turned out to murder it and desecrate its grave.

    Zero out of ten. Barely any effort except on the (outsourced) modellers' part, no quality assurance whatsoever, terrible technical frankensteinery, numerous broken promises, and a whole load of spite for both the original game and its community. Never again.    … Expand

Then, the fact that I can no longer fire up the OG III or TFT just adds to myIt appears that this was nothing more than a nostalgia based money grab on the part of Blizzard.     This game is a forced remaster for a 17 years old game that was doing fine. It literaly blows my mind how out of touch with your fanbase you have to be to not see how bonkers this whole mess of a 30€ "rEmAsTeR" is.

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
