    I grew up with WarCraft series with Warcraft III being the highlight of the series. I was excited to hear it was being remastered head to toe with everything including the kitchen sink being thrown in. Unfortunately the final product resembles nothing like what has been advertised for 2 years now.

    The game is different from trailers and advertised materials in so many ways besides how bad the remaster is itself. It does not include 4+ hrs of redone cut scenes and resemble nothing like what was displayed in the trailers. The UI was not redone. Ladder, clans, etc. are missing. The game runs sluggish even on my top of the line system. They even went back and brought problems with the new game and forced them into the older version of the game making the games inoperable.

    Avoid this game. If you bought it, request a refund.    … Expand

    This is literally a betrayal to not only what blizzard has set in stone when this company was once blizzard, but to also all the fans who supported blizzard and to those who had a small sliver of hope left for the company. Blizzard is dead! Activision can go F-themselves!

    A game I’m very much enjoying. Could they have done more? Sure. But it’s wonderful to revisit this world again with enhanced graphics and a few new mechanics. Is it worth the re-bombing being done by people who've not even played the game? No.

That said, go pirate the original because they overrode it with Reforged on Battle.net and that is never, EVER a good move, but more importantly Blizzard doesn't deserve your money.

    The terms of service of the world editor were changed so that you effectively sign over your rights as a creative if you use it meaning that if anything you make ever becomes as popular as DotA Blizzard is free to grab it, pretend it's their work and of course earn money off of it. Custom games are what kept WCIII alive for almost two decades and the creative freedom of modding is one of the staples of PC gaming, to go against it is a Goddamn crime.
    With all that said, even without all the controversy, it's not worth your money. You effectively only get a graphics overhaul that you may not even like (I know I don't) albeit some missions seem to have been significantly altered or remade entirely, I've only seen one thus far but there might be more.
    Regardless, Warcraft III is a significant chunk of my childhood and the amount of disrespect it has received from the very people whose careers exist because of it is sickening, don't give Blizzard you money, don't support them on this, pirate the game and play it the way the real Blizzard intended.    … Expand

    Well you took the game of my childhood, ate and spat it out. Now we have a mingled mess of garbage. I'm glad I refunded it because it looks like it was getting shoved down my throat anyway.

    This game forced me to download a 30GB client update for my classic Warcraft 3 installation which would not allow me to play anything but the campaign. AI matches, even when offline, would fail from some unknown error. Tried reinstalling it but now the battle.net launcher says I don't have it and have to buy Reforged. Can't even use my original disks since I'm on Mac OS and 32 bitThis game forced me to download a 30GB client update for my classic Warcraft 3 installation which would not allow me to play anything but the campaign. They completely (and quietly) walked back most of the features I was excited about lt in the 2018 announcement and I feel blindsided by the final product that was delivered. There is value/merit in the new models but I expected so much more from Blizzard and their brand. I will never preorder anything from this company again.… Expand

    Oh sure people would have been dissapointed, but it would have passed.

    But to realease a a broken, buggy mess, that removes existing features... 0 is to good.

    Activision-Blizzard found a new way to ruin an old game. I once wished for a remastered version of Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 but now I wish nothing more than for those games to be left alone. Activision blizzard is not the Blizzard I grew up with in the 90s.

I don't play multiplayer or a lot of custom maps, so I'll be nominally effected by those missing features, but I'm disappointed that all the extra story bits that we're promised got axed. When reading the negative reviews, I can't help but be reminded of when Aliens: Colonial Marines hadIt's more or less what I was expecting or hoped for - a upscale version of my favorite game as a kid. I don't play multiplayer or a lot of custom maps, so I'll be nominally effected by those missing features, but I'm disappointed that all the extra story bits that we're promised got axed. When reading the negative reviews, I can't help but be reminded of when Aliens: Colonial Marines had that promo material that was artificially buffed to look better than what was released.     The score should be negative really, because this new pile of code made the existing game worse, while also carefully making sure no one is able to play the old better game in its original state.     17. Убрали ламповые 3д задники в меню и заменили на хуевое бездушное 2д(Выяснили, что это полностью web-приложение на Хроме, от того и лагает как гавно, потому что работает на одном ядре и хавает память, поэтому на заднике на ламповое игровое 3Д а какой-то флеш или браузерное видео.)

    21. В оригинале, по непонятной причине, удалили некоторые меметичные фразы у персонажей. Например, "Im wasted" у дриады..
    22. Для смены хоткеев надо редактировать текстовый файл в папке игры. Причём тебе об этом сообщают прямо в настройках игры и даже заботливо говорят путь.
    23. Графика переключается только из меню(это не норма для ремастеров).
    24. Освещение, эмбиент оклюжен не завезли.
    25. Сглаживание вообще не завезли. Опцию что включай, что выключай - толку нет    … Expand

    Rarely can we say that they would have been better off not attempting anything at all, but that is exactly the case here.

    Gone are the days when Blizzard would rather scrap a project entirely instead of releasing a poor one and damaging their image.

    Loved Warcraft 3 when I was a kid, this was just a money grab with no work done to make good on any promises made. Never again will I purchase a Blizzard game trust is gone and I will not waste my hard earned money on garbage products again.

    How does one up remastering one of the best games of all time? You literally had one job, and you took the game and made it worse. I've still got my original warcraft 3 cd's but apparently the older version is no longer supported. Blizzard and developers in the rest of the gaming industry are long overdue for government regulation.

Blizzard have outdone themselves on Warcraft 3: Reforged in only one aspect, disappointment.

    The delivered product is an unfinished buggy mess, Blizzard has the audacity to continue to falsely advertise game features that do not appear. (Check out the Culling campaign trailers they use on the playwarcraft website and what actually appears in game).

    I love Warcraft 3 and WC3 Frozen throne, I have very happy memories of playing it and the custom maps for hours on end (which is another point of contention, the new updated EULA stifles creativity). I had hoped that a remaster would breathe new life into a classic, but instead Reforged is a slap in the face for fans and the WC3 community.

    No rating can truly represent the disappointment, the resentment felt by the loyal player base and the overwhelming disgust we as a community have for what Blizzard have become.    … Expand

    I have not been this dissapointed since Anthem. Warcraft 3 was one of the first games I played on PC and this is nothing but a ghost of a promise. Since others have went into far further detail than I have I will just post a quick list of what was removed from a 16 year old game.

    Automated Tournaments, Clans, Profiles, Ladder, 3D animated campaign backgrounds, 3D animated portraits in    I have not been this dissapointed since Anthem.     Huge fan here, spent over 500$ on the originals..This reforged abomination is everything that is wrong today with Blizzard. I hope they can see themselves in a mirror for what it is - a lazy unfinished thoughtless horrible cash grab. Free Hong Kong, unban Blitzchung, stop sucking communist deck, do not take a dump on a Warcraft 3 ROC AND FT grave, please

    I'm honestly impressed that Activision-Blizzard has managed to fail so hard. Even Bethesda has yet to find a way to Bethesda a 17 year old game, but acti-blizz has found a way.

    Blizzard had 18 years to make a decent remake. Not only they have failed, but ruined the original game in process. Well played corporate activision, we all hope you shareholders are happy now

    They not only had the nerve to release a game that has LESS than its original counterpart but also went as far as crippling the latter (yes, the 20 year old game) with a patch that removed features and broke game modes to bring it down to par with the new one.

    I am now glad they ended up not remastering Diablo 2.

    This was full of broken promises. Blizzard managed to fire 800 people during development and it shows. The game should have been as promised with the updated story. I actually made this metacritic account because of how upset and disappointed I am in the game. The game runs very poorly.

    I just want what was promised. Revamped lore, new dialogue and voice actors, map rework. Everything that would make Warcraft 3 true to the current lore.

    Thank God I have an old version backed up. I've been playing since release, and can't believe they would remove features from the existing copies. If WC3R is just an HD texture pack, why remove features like custom campaigns or even shadows? This was clearly rushed out the door. I'm not asking for anything more than to fix the old version.     Another **** for Blizzard, with all the bugs, downgrades from the ads, refunds denial, **** up the original... Its just sad to see how once beloved game companies turn into whatever this can be called.

    Es el mismo juego que el original y no añade nada salvo modelos, texturas y audios de voz en HD.
    El nombre Reforged le queda grande. Hubiera sido mas realista sacar el juego como un HD con un precio similar a Age Of Empires 2. La mayoría de los fans están decepcionados por lo que podría haber sido y no fue. Y lo que es peor, mucho de este contenido fue anunciado y luego fue quitado del juego.

    It’s clear that Blizzard’s 2018 layoffs to “non-development roles” has and will continue to have ramifications for years to come. Putting feature development over quality assurance leads to neither features nor quality, and this absolute disaster of a product is both a testament to that fact and a tangible monument to J. Allen Brack’s hubris.

    But more importantly the sheer avarice of Acti-Blizzard of laying claim to all custom mods and game modes because they see how much money the MOBA genre has made after starting in the original Warcraft III. But they didn't come up with the idea of DOTA; it just used their assets. They have no claim on that intellectual property. So screw you Blizzard, for that alone this deserves a zero.    … Expand

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
