Main problems with Starfield for me:

    1. Planets are just small and limited generated maps. 2. Dialogue system is not interesting, just waste of time. 3. NPCs are moving very slow, you can do at least 40 circles around them when they walk to the next trigger of mission. 4. Characters look like they came from animated series. 5. The roleplaying in starfield is not just limited to the role that your character plays within the story, the game allows you to truly be a person within a world. Baldurs gate 3 was a tremendous acheivement, but leaving the beat and path and being an employee of the world is not possible, in starfield all of it is possible. A game is not defined by individual design choices, it is defined by the sum of it's parts.

I dont care what the marketing was for the game or about features that people think every space should have. I care that I keep wanting to come back to a universe that is addictive and beautiful. No game is perfect but this one is almost perfect for me.

It's an well polished game that allows to do things that were not possible in the gaming world the same things that Rockstar games tried to approach but it seems Bethesda really went deep into these interactive gaming features without mentioning how amazing it is to notice the NPCs improving each time you play the game I mean space exploration never have been better ,nice job xbox & bathesda.

My favorite type of games are the ones that drop you into an interesting universe and say, “Go. Do anything and everything you can think of. React to this world and it’ll react to you.” That is why, for a long time, Skyrim has been my favorite game ever made. That is also why Starfield has been a fantastic experience, and a game I will continue playing for a very, very long time.

Bethesda has created amazing worlds for people to immerse themselves in; and Starfield is no exception. The visuals and animations are much improved from Fallout 4, with more dynamic facial expression and hand movements. The textures and lighting are beautiful here as well, with a really unique vibe. I can go and do so many different and wide-ranging things, live in a dream home, build my own custom spaceship, marry a character I’ve gone on interesting adventures with, build an outpost on a random moon, say hi to my parents, and join the military. You are absolutely getting your money’s worth.

Empty and soulless. Fallout 4 was bad, but this takes the cake.
Loading screen simulator, unmitigated bugfest. pointless ship combat, pointless shipbuilding. Pointless walks between points of disinterests on empty planets. Floaty and bulletspongy combat with an AI so poor that you'll puke all over yourself. Terrible plot, with bad characters with even more dysgenic faces. What's not to love?

    Title: Starfield: A Galactic Disappointment

    Introduction:
Starfield, the highly anticipated space exploration game, promised to take gamers on a journey through captivating worlds and thrilling adventures. Unfortunately, it falls comically short of those lofty promises. As a fan of the genre, I couldn't help but feel immensely disappointed by the lackluster execution and numerous flaws that plague this game.

    Lack of Innovation:
From the moment I launched Starfield, I was struck by its underwhelming lack of innovation. The game fails to introduce any groundbreaking mechanics or unique elements that could make it stand out in an overcrowded genre. It feels like nothing more than a rehashed version of countless other space-themed games, lacking creativity and originality.

    Bland World Design:
One of the most glaring weaknesses of Starfield lies in its bland and uninspiring world design. In a game that revolves around exploration, it is disheartening to find that the planets you encounter feel lifeless and devoid of any character or charm. The planets lack diversity, with repetitive landscapes and a limited range of creatures, making the exploration aspect feel monotonous and uninspired.

    Poor Character Development:
Despite the potential for intriguing space-faring stories, Starfield falls short when it comes to character development. The main characters lack depth and fail to evoke any emotional connection, leaving the player feeling detached from their journey. The dialogue options are shallow and unengaging, making interactions with NPCs feel like nothing more than going through the motions.

    Technical Issues:
Starfield's release was plagued by technical issues that hindered the gameplay experience. From frequent crashes and glitches to frame rate drops and clunky controls, the game seems like it was rushed out without proper optimization. These technical flaws further disrupt any attempt to immerse oneself in the game, leading to frustration and a sense of wasted potential.

    Tedious Gameplay Mechanics:
The gameplay in Starfield is a repetitive cycle of completing tedious tasks and engaging in lackluster combat encounters. Whether it's hunting for resources or engaging in space battles, the mechanics feel shallow and lack any real challenge or excitement. The lack of variety and complexity in these gameplay elements ultimately makes Starfield a monotonous and unengaging experience.

    Conclusion:
Starfield fails to live up to the vast expectations placed upon it as a highly anticipated space exploration game. With its lack of innovation, uninspired world design, poor character development, technical issues, and tedious gameplay mechanics, it falls far short of being an enjoyable and memorable gaming experience. It pains me to say that Starfield feels like a missed opportunity and a forgettable addition to the genre.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have put plenty of time into this game, because that's what everyone giving glowing reviews to this game says is needed. "You get out what you put in." is what Todd Howard says about the game.

Well, after close to 100 hours between the paid early access and retail release, I've realized that I don't want to put anything else in. In fact, it feels like I've put in thousands of hours into this game, because, essentially, I have. It's the 400+ hours in Morrowind and Skyrim. It's the 500+ hours in Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas. The point is, this is just more of the same BSG formula with a different coat of paint.

Starfield was 25 years in the making, and you can tell. The same features from 2002's Morrowind are there, except, strangely enough, a map. The same melee attack animations, complete with the lack of any feeling of impact. Skyrim is there in the form of your Starborn powers, aka: shouts. The gunplay feels like it was ripped straight from Fallout 4 and tightened up a bit while they removed VATS.
The visuals in the game range from gorgeous to downright terrifying. For every beautiful space backdrop or amazing planet, there are ghoulish (and not the Fallout style) NPC faces and planets devoid of anything apart from the occasional drab building.
That said, there is definitely plenty to do in the game. Trading, hauling, space battles, piracy, outpost building, the game lets you play it however you want to. The problem is, none of the options feel very fleshed out. The skill tree is vast and has options that theoretically help you in your endeavors, whatever they may be. However, none of the points I invested seemed to make much of a difference. I failed more contraband scans at higher levels of Deception than I did with a single point invested, which seems odd since the skill is supposed to decrease the effectiveness of the scans.

Ship building started off fun, but once you encounter any errors, the fun disappears. Locking parts behind arbitrary skill requirements is fine for an MMO like EVE Online (which is also a two decade old game), but in a single player RPG it doesn't make as much sense. Especially when things like legendary weapons are able to be used at low levels and not get replaced 20+ levels later.

This brings us to one of the main drivers of an RPG, even an open world one like BGS's. The story. It's uninspired. It's poorly written. The illusion of choice that conversations give is meaningless. The whole hook of a multiverse shows how long ago the story was conceived, because the idea is played out at this point. The ending feels like it was written by a fanfic.com writer in 2015, and really only serves as a reason for you to play NG+. This left me feeling unsatisfied, as all of my actions were immediately rendered meaningless, my time spent getting to know the flat, boring characters wasted. Much like my time playing this game.

I expected more, given the hype around this game. I didn't expect simply more of the same. I probably would have loved this game had it come out around the same time Fallout 4 did, because it's on par with that. Unfortunately, Fallout 4 is probably my least favorite BGS game, for many of the same reasons.

TL;DR - Starfield is a great game for 2014, or for people who want more of the same Bethesda Game Studio formula. For 2023, it's not up to par.

Update: I don't own any console from microsoft or sony, and am just a PC player with several hundred hours of Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallount NV and Fallout 4. Loved these games, lived without problem with the bugs but I can't live in a glorified maze of multiple rooms filled with minimaps, which this game is.

For instance, there is no minimap and only fast-travel for a good reason: the core design of the game cannot allow it.
As the Creation Engine 2 is going to be used for TES6, I'll pass from now on on all Bethesda games and I doubt that mods will fix anything (I play the vanilla versions anyway).

Not only the developers and more precisely Todd Howard, are outdated and live in the shadow of their former glory, but their main working tool is working on outdated paradigms, concepts and algorithms.

The reason why this game has such high hardware requirements exceeding those of CP2077 to run barely decently is that at its core, it's pushing the antiquated algorithms of an antiquated game engine to a level it was not designed to handle.

I am glad that some are happy enjoying this game, but in the same time, I think they are quite foolish trying to convince the world his is the 8th wonder of the world of gaming. It is simply not that.
    End of Update.

I'm glad I got a refund for this product. It's using the update of an antiquated game engine, which results in severe limitations breaking immersion. The game is simply not fun, not as advertised and it doesn't even meet basic standards for the underlying concepts like O2/CO2 to measure exertion.

It's like a rehash of previous failures, but magnified.

The reason why insane hardware requirements are necessary to achieve decent performance (and I didn't have any issue with my rig) is the outdated game engine. This game engine is designed exclusively to function as an update of the previous one used in 2006 products, so everything is built around its limitations: that's why we have loading screens for the pseudo open world which is in fact a series of minimaps, etc.

Again, thanks to Steam for honoring the refund policy and Shame on Bethesda for their broken promises. As for the corporate shills reviewing the game, I'll believe them when they release the gameplay session they use to build their review as it's literally impossible to explain rationally the disconnect between customer reviews and the journalists.

I have bought the game, gave it a fair chance but it's real garbage, it' worth 0. Even if the score is decent and the aesthetics are better than previous productions, and to date there is no microtransactions.

Shooting feels better but enemies are incredibly easy. They barely react. "Exploration" is almost nonexistent. It's not open world. You just load from instance to instance over and over. Story is incredibly overhyped and boring. It doesn't really evolve as you play. Overall the whole game is boring. I've never felt so aimless in a Beth game before. You honestly just stop giving a **** because it's this drab back and forth with nothing of consequence. The dialogue is the standard quippy modern fair. NPCs look awful as usual. Many locations are empty "mobs spawn here" zones with nothing much else. It's just a very bland game.

Starfield really does feel like Fallout 4 in "space" but it's just far more empty, generic and boring. There's nothing new here. I'll keep playing but overall I'm very let down because the game just isn't what they pretended it to be. It could literally be a Fallout 4 mod. Iam having buyers remorse, awful game.

Very good game you get lost in. Unfortunately the game was extremely over hyped to be a space-sim like star citizen or no mans sky (which is partly the marketing's fault) If you like Bethesda games, and games with a mind blowing amount of content in terms of story, star field is a very good game, and not at all deserving of the 4.5 the game currently has on here.

Basically, the main reason I am still playing the game is because the loot hunt and upgrading the weapons/gear/ships is fun, but this feels like a game designed in 2011 and released in 2023. It's honestly kind of embarrassing Bethesda has not tried to improve their formula considering the games that have come out in more recent years.

As is, this game is a 7 out of 10 at most, with a chance for improvement from either mods or Bethesda themselves (already using various interface and QoL mods that improve the game, but Bethesda doesn't get credit for work they didn't do, but that modders could do in less than a week). I can't believe anyone rating it a 9 or 10 out of 10 is being honest about the game, and may just be willfully ignoring all the faults that it has. It has so many issues when compared to modern games from the past 5 or so years, which is fine, I think it's a 6.5 and I'm still mostly enjoying it, but that doesn't mean I can't be honest about the technical shortcomings of the game.

    Pros
    - Combat is fun. Not as good as a dedicated shooter, but compared to previous Bethesda RPG's it's excellent.
    - Weapon and gear customization is fun
    - Exploring around the world dungeons and buildings is fun, although there are plenty of times where there is a large distance between waypoints and traveling on foot (jetpack is the same speed) gets old
    - Ship upgrades and building are pretty fun
    - Being able to hijack ships seems neat, but so far seems not worth it since you barely make any money on them, unless you somehow find an awesome ship

    Cons
    - The inventory system is TERRIBLE.
    - Very poorly optimized.
    - Lots of loading screens, even to small rooms with little inside them.
    - Bethesda style dialogue, which means usually mediocre writing while staring at an NPC talking at you.
    - The game doesn't really feel like you're exploring space, more like you're exploring zones.
    - Dated character models and animations. This game does not look up to quality for a AAA 2023 title.
    - Limited graphical options on PC.
    - The explorable areas don't generally feel 'alive'. In general the open world does not feel 'real' or 'lived in'.
    - The amount of different types of ammo is kind of annoying, less so that there are so many, and more so that some ammo seems MUCH harder to find than others.
    - Most of the sidequests are just fetch or kill quests (some forcing you to go back and forth between planets or systems), with a few good ones sprinkled in.
    - No Ultrawide Menu support. Many games don't have it, but it's still a con. Hell, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has UW menu support. Also no UW cutscenes.
    - Often companions and NPC's talk over each other, and at times companions talk over themselves, like when they are talking to each other but then a second dialogue happens with one of them talking to me at the same time.
    - No on planet transportation options. After a while travelling on foot everywhere gets old when there are large distances to cover (the boost pack doesn't seem any faster than on foot)
    - When coming out of a load, when on keyboard at least, if you try to move too soon it will not register, and you need to release and re-press the key before you can move.
    - You can wait 24 hours for vendor resets to sell more things, but each hour you wait take 3-4 seconds. You have to sit there for over a minute waiting for something that there is no reason to wait that long for.
    - On the ship there are times when the companions block passageways and it is difficult to get them to move.
    - The game has been mostly bug free for me so far, but there have been plenty of glitches, stuff like doors not be where they're supposed to be, teleporting NPC's, having dialogue with shipping containers as the NPC is on the other side, etc....
    - 30 fps menus and UI elements

I am enjoying the game overall, but there are a lot of issues, the largest one being performance. There are times I struggle to get over 60 FPS in areas with a mix of Medium and High settings AND FSR2 on. (5800X3d, RX 6800, 32gb 3600, PCIe 4.0 m.2, 3440x1440). That is the main reason that for now, even though I enjoy the game overall, and because of all the issues I listed, I can't recommend others get the game until AT LEAST the performance is improved in patches.

Unfortunately, Starfield has left me feeling bored to the extent that I can't muster the enthusiasm to continue. The game lacks the sense of exploration I was hoping for, and the combat isn't enjoyable. Despite my gaming setup, which includes a Radeon 7900 XTX and an excellent CPU, I've found it to be poorly optimized.

I'm genuinely perplexed by the praise some people have given this game, labeling it a masterpiece or an outstanding gaming experience. I'd be eager to learn about the other "awesome" games they've played to make such comparisons. I genuinely wish I could derive more enjoyment from this game, but I'm finding it difficult to do so because it falls far below what I consider an acceptable level. While it certainly has some nice details and scenic elements, these aspects alone are not enough for me to rate it any higher than 6/10. It falls short of the mark for what I expect from a game, and I believe it doesn't merit a 4/10 rating, but it still has room for improvement.

That said, it is not a bad game, even if it is extremely bare bones at the moment. You can go pretty much everywhere you see - via a menu - but sadly, there isn't that much to "see" on the way - in space, that is, which is a big part of space travel, yes? - as every time you hop aboard your ship to switch planets/moons/systems, you're treated to a quickly very repetitive cut-scene and loading screen. You spend very little time on your ship considering how much that is a part of star-faring.
There is a veritable ton of quests and little events, ranging from your usual go-there-and-find-this to surveying to bounty hunting, nothing earthshaking but there is at least an attempt at variety there, even if the specific details for quests aren't that spectacular and, if you do quests of a similar type, they become a monotonous blur interspersed by loading screens. The main quest moves on tracks, though, so if you're expecting the sort of freedom you may have found thrilling in a game that starts with the letter "B" and ends in the numeral "3", cast away that hope. You, the player, in terms of the main questline, are a hound the npcs point in a direction. You are, of course, free to ignore the main quest entirely - which you can't do in that other game - so... yeah.
Long story short, this is a Bethesda game, at launch. As we all know, these games become great, both in looks and in in-depth content, after the players make them great. Bethesda just creates the framework, and they've done so relatively bug free for a Bethesda game, here. (Although my game crashed the moment i launched it for the first time, which made me laugh, it hasn't crashed again or encountered any game-breaking bugs after that.)
I don't really see why people are so up in arms about Starfield being the best or the worst Bethesda title, as, in its current blank-*loading*-state, it sits quite comfortably in the middle, waiting to see how far the modding community will take it. And there is much, much more room here than in Skyrim.
That being said, the price tag for what is technically a beautiful frame with the bare outlines of a painting is steep. The time spent in development is no excuse, seeing how much of it has been outsourced to who knows where.
Hopefully, this one goes the way Skyrim did, which depends largely on the community. Is that good company policy for a gargantuan studio? Perhaps not. Go figure.

Starfield is a great game, sadly it doesn't have sex scenes for degenerates.

    - Starfield's launch is perhaps 10 times better than CP's launch, CP might fix the game 3 years later.
    - Starfield is not showing you fast-forwarded story and characters cut from the game 1h in.
    - Starfield's vehicles are very customizable, CP doesn't have any of that.
    - Starfield actually has multiple choices if you want to kill or ally the quest characters.
    - Starfield didn't promised multiplayer. CP cuts the multiplayer.
    - Starfield's world is detailed, even the most basic NPC have appropriate clothing for their role and they even react differently based on your quest and status where on CP is completely random.
    - Starfield's loot in buildings make sense to their rooms where CP just have it randomly like the NPCs.
    - Music is the generic, overall CP has better.
    - Story is ok, fits and plays way better than in CP. Again, 'play' not 'watch'. In CP your character's status stay the same. In Starfield you obtained a 1% rank in the whole city, taking a job from a random cop, he will look up to you not down like in CP. Story in CP? Dystopian future where governments and companies have almost total control allow a rockstar drunk boy to operate a heli and nuke to blow the city. You guys don't understand what a dystopian world actually means, unless CP's story was poorly applied, because there's a book I believe.
    - Combat is fine, CP wins, they have dismemberment and melee feels better.
    - Skills own in Starfield, actual RPG game, where CP rapidly changed to an adventure game.
    - Planets are cool compared to No man's launch state, no I don't wait 10 years for some liars to deliver a game, but that's ok, the 500 people that rate 3/10 which means the game isn't a functional game will wait even more.
    - Starfield will have a DLC, CP promised free dlc, but yet we paid full 60$ for a broken and hollow game in order to pay another 30$.
    - Performance is bad, 60 fps, 1080p, at best on medium settings 2080, but that's ok, I will upgrade to 4090 just for this game. All this possible because of these lovely haters who probably lie about the fact of 'playing Skyrim/Fallout' in the past'? CP wins here.
    - Starfield is not on PS5, but CP still loses as that game was horrible and updates were required for it to be playable.
    - Starfield offers a really neat New Game Plus, CP offers.. a cutscene.
    - Starfield offers apartments and mansions and your ships, CP offers 9, after 2 years after launch.
    - Starfield companions they are helpful with loot, carrying and even with the dialogues.
    - Starfield doesn't offer sex scenes, that's ok, we leave that to degenerates.
    - Starfield's police system is way better than your cop donut eater spawning next to you, there's also a bounty system.

I have 60 hours of only doing quests, and still have left I assume a third of the game to go regarding questing and after that comes new game plus.

Starfield is a great game, sadly it doesn't have sex scenes for degenerates.

    Starfield: A Galactic Nightmare

Starfield, the highly anticipated open-world RPG set in space, had promised to be a revolution in the space exploration and discovery.
However, after two years of anticipation and high expectations, what we got is an experience that fails to live up to its developer's promises. In this review, we will explore the reasons behind this disappointment and analyze key aspects that affected the overall quality of the game.

    Repetitive Space Exploration:
One of the most exciting features touted for Starfield was the ability to explore multiple planets and solar systems. Unfortunately, this promise is marred by a lack of variety and depth in exploration. Most planets seem to be designed with a similar template, with landscapes and settlements that feel recycled. Exploration quickly becomes monotonous, as most planets offer similar experiences, with very few surprises. This is a major letdown, considering the game's potential to offer a true sense of discovery in space.

    Very outdated tech:
Starfield inherits the combat system from Bethesda's previous games like Fallout, which feels outdated compared to contemporary shooter games. Firefights lack the fluidity and excitement we would expect from a space shooter. The lack of innovation in this regard is frustrating, as the game had the opportunity to shine and provide a truly memorable combat experience.

Another disappointment in Starfield is the lack of significant advancements in character facial expressions. Despite promises of technological improvements, characters still have stiff faces and limited expressions. This affects immersion in the game and makes interactions with characters feel emotionally shallow and robotics.

The developer had suggested that Starfield would be a significant technological leap, but in reality, the advancements are minimal. While the game is visually impressive in some aspects, it doesn't feel like a substantial leap compared to other titles of the same era. Technological "seams" are often evident, which detracts from the immersion in the game world.

For every action we want to do we have to swallow a lot of loading screens again and again. It is NOT a smooth gaming experience. This is especially irritating after a few hours of playing and having to sit through dozens of loading screens.

    Horrible performance:
Regarding the performance of the game, it is the worst I have tried from Bethesda in my life. A nightmare. You need an upper-middle-range PC to play at 60fps even at medium settings. Forget about having a good experience with a GPU below a 3070 TI in max settings and a six cores CPU with a very high IPC. Visually you will not encounter anything nor does anything happen in the game that justifies these disproportionate requirements.

I was worried a lot and after actually PLAYING the game I have discovered that Starfield has a huge potential and is enjoyable. It's an Action RPG Space Opera.

What I liked regarding Action features:

    - An effort has been done to make the combats more dynamic. You can vault over obstacles, the jet pack give you other strategy possibilities and the general use of weapons have been improved compared to previous Bethesda games.

    - Space combat can be a challenge if your level is too low, sometimes overwhelming as you also need to manually manage the power of each of your subsystem. You have a nice choice of weapons and provided you locked the enemy ship you can refine your aim and target critical components of your foe. After destroying their engines, you have the option to board and wipe the crew in order to add another ship to your collection.

What I liked regarding RPG features:

    - INSANE amount of quests and sides. I particularly enjoyed the quests of Ryujin Corp.

    - Once again you have all the tools to be whoever you want in the galaxy: Perks, customizable and moddable gear, customizable ship.

Want to be a merc? Lots of bounties quests and shadowy operations.
Want to be a pirate? Improve your combat skills and steal some other ships in order to improve yours, recruit crew and fight the fleets of the settled systems.
Want to be a good scientist? Survey entire systems and sell your data to Constellation organization.
A bad one? Why not trying to smuggle organs?
Want to be a colonizer? Construct outposts on remote planets or moons and start a mining industry.
You are more into transport industry? Transform your ship in a cargo freighter and loot all you can in order to supply the resellers.
Want to be an explorer? The main quests have you covered!

    - Not disappointed with level and interior design, always a pleasure to explore remote outpost or abandoned structures in order to find gear, meds or simply knowing more regarding the lore. Always has been a great strenght of the studio.

    - Persuasion system has been a bit improved. It feels more like a negotiation now than just a basic skill check. Doing some optional objectives can give you bonus in order to make the negotiation easier.

What I liked regarding Space Opera features:

    - Bethesda put a lot of work in creating an entire new universe. It’s a plausible futuristic installation with great architectures and interesting factions and corporations with their own design and artistic assets (logos, suits, gear, building interior design, etc...).

    - There is more life in the cities which are way bigger, more vendors, more stuff to do and more places to wander. It’s a huge step forward comparing to their previous game.

Resuming, the content of the game is great ! Unfortunately, it did not make me forget about the technical side.

Optimization is terrible and a lot has been said regarding this already. NPC interaction can be sometimes strange with facial expressions or head mouvement not always matching the dialogues. Vanilla UI is not great, sometimes even frustrating. I had to install some mods in order to have the basic (compact menus so you are not scrolling all the time, tags so you know what you are looting and quickly know what the items do or give, columns with more data with filters option). AI... Typical of vanilla games from Bethesda, not really smart opponents.

In a normal world, I would rate the game 7/10 in its current state. I am rating it 10 in order to compensate the 0s that this game absolutely does not deserve given the promising actual content.

Then why the 8? If this is a flop and one of the worst games of all time.

Starfield is a beautiful world, probably the best they've ever made, full of life when you decide to go where the map tells you, beautifully crafted cities (except New Atlantis) with lots of interesting stories, NPCs and things to do.

It is been a long time since a story made me feel I was really doing anything because I decided to do it, if you want to screw the Constellation story, you can get lost in hours and hours of high quality content with the seal of Bethesda. This is no different to how I felt when I played Fallout 3 and Morrowind for the first time, and I am glad this seal has not disappeared over time.

Gunfight is pure cream, the enemies might be annoying because the map is separated in levels, but firing weapons feels satisfying, but i gotta say that the mechanics related to modifications of Weapons and armor feels useless, not so different from the Fallout 4 experience.

Characters are alright, every person feels real and has a lot of interesting pieces of dialog, from the characters in Constellation, to that ma'am in the Trade Authority, and the kid that asks you to buy a book about Dragons.

And It's been my first 10 hours of gameplay, and I have a lot to do for the next days.

The RPG experience feels out of a classic bethesda game, haven't felt so Free since Morrowind, it is no Baldur's Gate, but the amount of options and things you can do is overhwelming, it makes you feel like the character you're roleplaying with, which was one of the things I was more skeptical, but ended up being amazing.

And don't make me get started in the potential of mods, just a week after release there's almost 200 mods available for the game, making the experience better and doing what bethesda can't do, and also the power of expansions (which i hope are free thanks to the Microsoft partnership, it's ok to dream).

This game is eternal, it might not be what everyone expected, it is flawed to the core of exploration, but it features a beautiful UNIVERSE and a beautiful experience when it comes to roleplaying, a game that took me back in time to the good old days of Gaming, maybe we are living a new good era of gaming.

Starefield: The facial animation is outdated. The Gaming engine is outdated. -1
The main quest is super generic except one mission - entangled. -1
The ending is generic and unexciting. -1
Tons of items to pick up but your inventory is always full, even with full inventory space upgrade. -1
There are only 10 types of gun in the game. -1
Fraction quests are okay. I will give them that. not as good as those in oblivion. +1
1000 planets but most of them are vast but empty. Nothing much to do. -1
I dont see any megaboss on a planet, the wow factor is missing during my exploration.
Tons of bugs. NPC glitching in and out. -1
Endless loading screen. I swear 10% of my total playthrough time are just me sitting here waiting the game to load. -1
There are only 4 romance option. Main Companions are annoying and boring. They left you if you steal and do pirate stuffs. Sam coe is okay solely because of the Adam jensen voice actor. -1
The major capital city like new atlantis feels so small. Every big company are just conveniently packed in the same building in neon. -1
Many repeated content. They have the audacity to use the dungeon( the lab) with exact same layout twice in the main questline. -1

The game is the most fun when you just ditch the main quest and go exploring and messing around. Shipbuilder is probably the best feature in the game.

Starfield is not a space game in the sense that you feel like space matters. It's more a sci fi themed game where space is part of the look and feel. Flight in space could just as well have been flight in atmosphere. The entire game could have been realized on a single Planet with many biomes.

The many "explorable" planet areas just feel like fluff or padding.

The thing tjat infuriates me most is how another aaa game from a well known publisher gets such high ratings of "official tester pages". It's **** up that they give points bonus to games which have high probability to buy ad space on those pages but only if the rating is nice and high. Broken review system.

as my first bethesda game. its pretty good, if not a bit confusing. like you can do literally anything and there will also be consequences which turn into entire story lines. which is just awesome ( after just 5hrs in game. the amount of loading screens are insane. like man i just want to open a door, not get a 5second loading screen. so lowering from 8/10 to 5/10)

    Literally unplayable in PC.
Not only they didn't optimize it, but also now Todd Howard has the gall to say publicly that they did and we should buy a new PC.
Refunded it, of course. Will update this review if and when it gets optimized.
Also, I'm all for freedom, but keep identity politics out of games, it's getting very annoying.

It is a Skyrim so if you like that one, you may like that one.
The space vs ground is two instances; really a loading simulator game...

Also I personally found the story telling at the beginning is really lacking of effort....
Been so bored that I decide to maybe come back to that game later... but the excitement is now gone.

First, you need really good pc to play this game. This game is not optimized well. I already experienced few bugs like NPCs falling through the floor. Walking through the walls. Sometimes they are dumb! One of my quests are bug stuck, can’t do anything about it until there’s a patch. Space is limited and not free to explore. Some planets don’t even exist, they just JPG planets. SomeFirst, you need really good pc to play this game. This game is not optimized well. Another broken mess created by the most overrated studio in existence, just a bland, boring and souless game that makes sport games look like masterpieces, same old fallout 3 gameplay, broken AI, robotic npcs, recycled empty planets, "massive open world game" full of fast travels, a complete joke of a game.

There's a lot of flaws in space in Starfield. But that does not prevent me from exploring our galaxy again and again.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
