El juego presenta una IA muy mediocre, un motor gráfico muy antiguo y unas expresiones faciales que no son de un juego del 2023; la exploración es inexistente y se queda a mitad de camino de todo lo prometido

i love open world rpg's, in fact it's my favourite genre, that's why i was so hyped for starfield. I was even considering pre-ordering. Thank Jesus that i haven't spend any dollar on this game. Overpromised, outdated and boring game. Also a loading screen simulator. Anyways, glad that i bought Baldurs Gate 3 instead of this garbage

great mission options, nice roleplaying, not a next generation game, INSANE modeling and texture, good side quest, very good artistic direction, too many load screens, excellent music, sometimes feels like a movie, top 1 rpg of Bethesda

Bethesda became a dubious company long time ago, and Todd is a notorious clown. I don't know how anyone takes that man seriously anymore. Bethesda used the ancient Creation Engine to make Starfield with tons of loading screens and "invisible walls", not even an open world game. Visually, Starfield looks like some game from 10 years ago, but demands super expensive, almost futuristic hardware. It's a total technical fiasco.

On the creative side, Starfield is completely devoid of any originality and likability. The writings and dialogues in Starfield are so bad it's unbelievable. The main story is as if it was written by someone who is 7-8 years old. Constellation NPCs are very annoying, lifeless, they even criticize the player if he does something "bad". You feel like you are playing a game with some old aunt who constantly criticizes you if you are not a "good boy". All that false moralizing is a total joke.

The atmosphere in Starfield is generic, soulless, as if the game was created by robots. Big cities are also mostly without any originality and interest. In Neon City, which is supposed to represent the city of vice, you won't find a single half-naked woman. Everything is made generically, strictly controlled, paying extremely close attention to "political correctness", not to "offend" anyone,

There is no atmosphere, no good story, no interesting characters, nothing... Emptiness, boredom, tons and tons of tiring, long dialogue without any meaning whatsoever.

This game may be playable in certain segments, but overall this game is just bad..

The optimization is tragic; I've never seen a game perform so poorly. Sometimes I get 10 fps, sometimes 40, it's random. It doesn't matter whether it's in the city or the wilderness.

    Loading screens are everywhere:

Enter a building / loading screen
Board a ship / loading screen
Change floors in a building or ship / loading screen
Travel to another planet / 3 loading screens
There's no space exploration; discovering other planets and star systems involves teleporting by clicking the 'x' button and watching a loading screen. The space itself is only used for short battles.

The AI of enemies is terrible, and the combat isn't challenging. The Witcher 2, which came out in 2011, has better facial animations and character looks and costs only 2 euros.

I won't even get into the list of bugs and glitches, texture loading issues, etc.

As soon I got into space and wasted 10 mins flying towards a planet only to then figure out I have to open the menu and fast travel to the planet. I'm then granted with a loading screen. Then at the planet I can't manually land on it. I need to then open the menu again and fast travel again. I'm then in another loaidng screen. I refunded at this point because the game was not advertised and promoted in this way.

The space exploration is a scam. Todd is like a character in one of his own games that has maxed out charisma. He gets on that stage and promises a game that just doesn't work. Starfield is just another fallout 76.

Also forced participation into using pronouns is laughable. Nobody should be forced to take part in someone elses mental health issues. Pronouns are a weaponised social ideology used by people to make them feel special. They will tell you "it's not a big deal " But as soon as you don't want to participate in it you will be abused and attacked.. but it's not a big deal right ?

Some I can say were 1s and others I can say were 10s. Well what is a 1 and what is a 10? Well a 1 is a game that falls apart before you even can get to playing and a 10 is a game that exceeds your initial expectations and calls you to not only play more but to ask for another game. Starfield not only fulfills the criteria of a 10 but it also speaks to Bethesda fans. For those that want to hate on this game due to its exclusivity and review bomb it, that absolutely proves it’s glory as a 10. This is not to appeal to console warmongerers but to appeal to rationality if a game is so good the enemy must strike at it to save face it must be good. I would like to see some of that level of game from Sony, I’m sure they will too. But as a PC player formerly Plastation>Xbox This game proved to me a Bethesda fan that they were curating a game for me to play and enjoy and kept in a little cute Bethesda bugginess as all their games have. Overall this game exceeeded my expectations in the following categories: Combat, Story, Size, Difficulty, Dialogue, Leveling, Ship Building, Outpost Building, and Visuals. There’s much more but there’s only so many things one can think of before the game shows it to you. Crafting has good depth but inventory system could use tweaking. right now its gather and manage then dump at your ship/ rinse and repeat. A higher carry capacity would help. like 250lb and a base storage in ship of 750 would be a good start.
The game NEEDS proper DLSS 3.0 and FG to be implemented. I have a 5800x3d, 32 gigs ram and a 4070ti and on ultra game just chugs. More optimizations will be coming and will make improvements. Better driver optimizations are coming and will help. DLSS and FG are needed as well.

Overall the game isn't a massive forward leap and many mechanics will feel very familiar to Fallout fans and it is really Fallout 5-ish in Space. For Fallout fans this is what many of us expected anyways.

Gameplay wise, as I mentioned before, the start is VERY boring, and combat is pretty bad as well, the ai of most enemies is non-existent, and difficulty seemingly only increases enemy health, making them incredibly spongy, sometimes requiring more than 5 mags, just to kill one enemy, this makes the ammo economy absolutely terrible, I often have to just melee everyone because I run out of ammo.

One more notable, thing, is the inability to fast travel directly from a planet’s atmosphere, to a position on it, without going through a few menu. (You can fast travel from planet to planet, and solar system to solar system without menus though).

Anyway this game is a typical Bethesda game. There are a bit of jank and can do with more optimisation. But the gameplay is fun, and the Bethesda RPG elements are all present and it is a game that I can engage in for hours and enjoy it.

Should there be more bug fix? Definitely. Should there be more optimisation? Yes. Will Mods make the game better and allow players to play in the game they want? O man, will they ever.

So for now it is a solid 8/10. And once the mod is fully out and the game is further optimised and bug fixed, it should be a solid 9/10.

And for those who think (or pretend to think) that this is a space sim instead of a space cowboy RPG (if you argue that this is RPG lite I will grant you the point), you really need to go rinse your ear and learn to read and listen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's okay, but I really don't like the RPG elements. Your choices don't have any real impact. I hoped Bethesda would up their game this time. My wife died and no companions had any reaction. I got married again after. The best thing is that even though you can marry someone, you never even kiss. Great immersion.
The best series of quests i experienced was on Neon with the stealth quests for the tech company (forgot the name of the company).
The space part is tedious and boring, more like a hub for fast travel to the more interesting parts of the game. They could have left space out entitely and we would do with one less loading screen.
The graphics is also subpar, but the worst is the facial animations and flat characters. I just don't enjoy people not reacting to anything and they don't really have strong interesting personalities.

All that said, it's still some what interesting and I really enjoyed some moments. Also the lockpicking is a great minigame. I could probably spend alot of hours in the game when I'm bored, but I definitely won't get addicted and forget to sleep.

Not worth the 100$ i payed but an ok game.

    Title: Starfield: A Galactic Disappointment

    Introduction:
Starfield, the highly anticipated space exploration game, promised to take gamers on a journey through captivating worlds and thrilling adventures. Unfortunately, it falls comically short of those lofty promises. As a fan of the genre, I couldn't help but feel immensely disappointed by the lackluster execution and numerous flaws that plague this game.

    Lack of Innovation:
From the moment I launched Starfield, I was struck by its underwhelming lack of innovation. The game fails to introduce any groundbreaking mechanics or unique elements that could make it stand out in an overcrowded genre. It feels like nothing more than a rehashed version of countless other space-themed games, lacking creativity and originality.

    Bland World Design:
One of the most glaring weaknesses of Starfield lies in its bland and uninspiring world design. In a game that revolves around exploration, it is disheartening to find that the planets you encounter feel lifeless and devoid of any character or charm. The planets lack diversity, with repetitive landscapes and a limited range of creatures, making the exploration aspect feel monotonous and uninspired.

    Poor Character Development:
Despite the potential for intriguing space-faring stories, Starfield falls short when it comes to character development. The main characters lack depth and fail to evoke any emotional connection, leaving the player feeling detached from their journey. The dialogue options are shallow and unengaging, making interactions with NPCs feel like nothing more than going through the motions.

    Technical Issues:
Starfield's release was plagued by technical issues that hindered the gameplay experience. From frequent crashes and glitches to frame rate drops and clunky controls, the game seems like it was rushed out without proper optimization. These technical flaws further disrupt any attempt to immerse oneself in the game, leading to frustration and a sense of wasted potential.

    Tedious Gameplay Mechanics:
The gameplay in Starfield is a repetitive cycle of completing tedious tasks and engaging in lackluster combat encounters. Whether it's hunting for resources or engaging in space battles, the mechanics feel shallow and lack any real challenge or excitement. The lack of variety and complexity in these gameplay elements ultimately makes Starfield a monotonous and unengaging experience.

    Conclusion:
Starfield fails to live up to the vast expectations placed upon it as a highly anticipated space exploration game. With its lack of innovation, uninspired world design, poor character development, technical issues, and tedious gameplay mechanics, it falls far short of being an enjoyable and memorable gaming experience. It pains me to say that Starfield feels like a missed opportunity and a forgettable addition to the genre.

Starfield is another in the great line of Bethesda games that will fill your need, if a "Bethesda RPG" is what you are looking for.

Although for some the first hours feel like a slow start, the game feels like it has endless possibilities as you continue. I had so many quests going in the first 20 hours I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next. There are main faction quests that feel like they are main story, but they are just another addition. There are lots of random quests that can come to you in various ways, whether its meeting someone in space, flying into a system, coming across something on a planet while exploring, talking to a random NPC in a city, hearing it on an announcement, and more. There feels like there is a lot to do in the game.

The mechanics you gain through perks throughout the game add all kinds of depth, from stealth and combat, to ship design and piloting. These skills you gain also give you unique dialogue choices throughout the game, whether its from knowing the internals of starship mechanics, or being an expert in a specific field. For any reviews finding areas lacking in the game mechanic wise, I find they have only played a few hours and have not unlocked the perks that give you the things that make certain combat mechanics good. (Running and sliding, Stealth meters, etc, all come from perks)

Background traits you pick when you start the game and create your character can add an interesting layer, from having your parents exist in game and being able to interact with them, or being chased across space by bounty hunters trying to claim the bounty on your head.

The weapon selection feels fantastic. There is everything from futuristic space lasers, to "vintage" earth weapons we know and love that you can come across. There are plenty of similar aspects of a Fallout style legendary system where you can find guns that offer legendary like bonuses like +10% damage while aiming, or against humans, etc.

Ship customization is fun, as you get a chance to make something unique. Building your outposts will feel familiar to anyone who has used the Fallout Settlement / CAMP system.

I am running older hardware at 1080p, but my framerate is pretty good for my hardwares age. With a Ryzen 5 2600k and a GTX 1080, I am getting fairly smooth framerates between 45-60 in most places, with some drops here and there, but nothing below the levels consoles are locked at.

The way travel works is done well, and loading screens aren't a bother when you can easily fast travel to locations. Although people looking for a space sim may find it lacking, this is a Bethesda RPG, not Elite Dangerous. The way travel works gives you the feeling of having that extra bit of control you never had in a Bethesda RPG, but doesn't bog things down with long drawn out travel between bodies in space.

As for things I would like to improve, I would like to see less NPCs in the game that are essential, as there are people I felt needed to die that were not killable within the game. Although there is some fun dialogue for "bad" characters, it feels lacking in some situations. This translates to the companions, who mostly all get upset with any theft, stealing, piracy, etc. A companion that was good with the more underworld side would have been a great addition. The game is also in desperate need of maps in cities. Although you can learn the cities in a playthrough, it can be intimidating on your first run to not have a typical Bethesda "local" map.

All in all, very happy with what I have seen so far. I have 60+ hours at this point and feel there is still a ton more to offer, especially with New Game+ features.

I have not had this much fun in a rpg in over 15 years, the story is so well written and it even made me question how i view life and probably changed me forever, so a "life changing experience" isnt out of the question.

The graphics: They may not be insane high resolution graphics but the way its displayed does wonders, i landed on a moon of a red ringed gas giant, the moon was so close to it, the planet took up 70% of the sky and the rings looked like they was cutting into the horizon, i was so close i could actually see the rings moving! particles of rocks and debris orbiting at unhead of speeds, looked like a saw blade. the lighting does this game extreme justice in most scenarios, its so atmospheric.

The story: As i said above, the story made me question how i view life, changed my views, and guided me down a healthier path. The ending gives you so much room to build your own opinion, and certain characters have such unique viewpoints on everything, like barret for example, his own words and wisdom helped me in rough times. I cant go into to much detail without spoilers, but certain things happen... and they really....really hit hard, and show you values of life and death without holding any punches. im bewildered to why people are saying its boring and written poorly.

The gameplay: Exploration in this game is what you would expect from real life exploration most of the time. and i love that! landing on pluto to find a barren lifeless cold world so far away from the sun, mining its resources in extremely low gravity, and finding some abandoned civilian outpost that told a story about "escaping the monotony of life" was all extremely entertaining to me, then landing on some world that really makes you think of world of warcrafts highland fields. invoking extreme nostalgia in me as i explored the brown tall grassed wheat like fields, being chased down by literal fire breathing rock like dragons. even named dragons in the game. the sense of wonder on a weird brain themed planet was also crazy to experience, floating brain creatures and plants that have pulsating meat for bodies. exploration in this game brought out the inner star trek fan in me. i even made my build around surveying and scanning.

RPG elements: This is indeed a bethesda game, your choice matters, and it changes the game significantly. You will not have the same experience again unless you try to, and even then, random events might change that. There is no shortage of choices and things to side path into. the new game plus adds to this by letting you try again in a more convenient way, for new experiences each time. Cant give it enough praise.

Sound: I wont lie, the sound is not realistic at all, but i think this is a good thing, would be boring hearing nothing most of the time and muffling on low atmosphere planets. space doesnt really like sound... would be a boring game if it was realistic that way. but the sound design is wonderful! the buzz of strange artifacts to the wildlife on a strange world. There is a lot of variety.

AI: Now the ai isnt perfect, but name one game where it is, this ai is still miles ahead of previous bethesda games, i saw enemies retreat and spread out on both sides to hit me from all corners when they realized a direct approach wasnt working, i had to actually work my way to a new position to survive. They will still get stuck "taking" cover though, i dont think creation engine will ever fix this... but still, having to change my playstyle to match theirs was something i didnt expect from bethesda, good on them.

Loot: I was still finding brand new gun models entirely at level 50. There is no shortage on weapons of any kind. Then you have rarities, and perks for them. finding unique items that act way differently than the model normally would. i found myself wanting to keep everything and struggling to pick what to sell. So much choice. it inspired me to change up what build i was going for 4 times!

Random encounters: I came across a fleet battle where i got to choose the side i wanted, helped out in a insane dogfight frenzy as 2 capital class ships bombarded eachother, after the battle, i received a nearly 3 hour questline to pursue. If this doesnt scream how good bethesda is at random events, i dont know what does.

Lets address the elephant in the room, just looking at the score of this game screams how obviously split everyone is, its all 0's or 10's. You know what else is obvious? The 0's all say the same crap, they are DEFINITELY sony ponies. dont trust the review bombing, look at the more intricate reviews that are long and filled with splitting information on categories. Those are the people who actually played the game

Sensational game, graphics and setting are excellent, details of items in inventories and weapons. He took very good care of the ships too. It's a classic Bethesda RPG, not a game for everyone. For me it's 10 for the immersion it provides to the player!

We as consumers have allowed the gaming industry to decay into such a bad state because we continue to show game companies we will STILL pay for garbage quality products. Starfield has no soul, just an empty shell. Quantity over quality. I absolute loved Oblivion and Skyrim, even with their issues, there were some amazing stories and characters that made the experience worth playing through.

did not deliver on the hype. It feels outdated, easy solutions used. Enemies don't feel exciting, and I feel the space is the backdrop, not the world. Incredible disappointed because I was looking forward to this game a lot

Downside - still hot mess (esp. NPC details/models) compared to other games.

Lots of walking - can be immersive at first.
Downside - lack of transportation at surface means that you spend vast majority of time walking arouind. This will apply to all planets that you travel for, most likely, suveying for outpost and missions.

Shipbuilding - Slight depth to it, customizability.
Downside - lack of accessible parts (level-locked and skill-locked, and system-locked until outposts are built) means that customizing ships are hard. There is a size limitation which means bigger ships are curently impossible to build without mods, and there are egregious limitations on what you can actually build & with exterior ship features/details in mind.

Space travel - Random encounters everywhere (usually copypasta of same ones, especially pirate). space stations feel very copy-pasta. you'll notice similarities of layouts quite a bit. Fuel is automatically replenished. no sense of danger in getting lost.

Outpost/crafting (the most insulting part of this game) -
You can only craft outpost buildings, part that goes into it, medical consumables and weapon upgrades.
What you cannot make, as of moment:
    - Ship parts/structures (only purchasable, or by taking over ships)

    - Weapons/spacesuits/apparels (only purchasable or through loots)

    - Ammos. Higher difficulty or even lower diff, with minimal points into combat will make you use bullets a lot and spend considerable amount of money on just buying ammos, or forcing you to scavenge for ammo.

-Contraband items. making this and selling to npcs, along with everything above, would completely change the depth of gameplay with outpost mechanic with added depth, without sacrificing difficulty/complexity, as this would be completely optional.

bugs. Ranging from purely cosmetic bugs (there are lots of it, this is a bugthesda game after all), minor bugs (requiring reloads) to softlocks (game refresh mandatory).

    map design.
Planet survey is pointless. resource locations (on surface) is completely randomized.
in-game local maps are not present. surface map does not give good detail - THERE IS NO SETTLEMENT MAP

System search is not present. you'd think, with 500 systems on the map, you'd think bethesda would have favorite bar/search functionality to the map. Nope - you're forced to use a third party interactive map and search system using those.

Considering all this, The more hours you spend the game, your experience will become good to bad.
Therefore, I cannot recommend people to play this game, as this game has replayability being its heavy focus, a common bethesda game trait.

Space orchestra intro/casuals might enjoy the current level of depth it has. but it's definitely not going to be enough if you want to dive deeper into mechanics, because there aren't any present.

Brilliant game! Wasn’t sure I could have the same experience as when I put 200 hours into Skyrim but I’m 30 hours in and can’t put it down. I had purchased God of War recently which I also thought was very good but it won’t get touched now for a long time. There are a few little bugs etc but pretty sure they will get ironed out but Starfield is an immensely satisfying experience.

I was worried a lot and after actually PLAYING the game I have discovered that Starfield has a huge potential and is enjoyable. It's an Action RPG Space Opera.

What I liked regarding Action features:

    - An effort has been done to make the combats more dynamic. You can vault over obstacles, the jet pack give you other strategy possibilities and the general use of weapons have been improved compared to previous Bethesda games.

    - Space combat can be a challenge if your level is too low, sometimes overwhelming as you also need to manually manage the power of each of your subsystem. You have a nice choice of weapons and provided you locked the enemy ship you can refine your aim and target critical components of your foe. After destroying their engines, you have the option to board and wipe the crew in order to add another ship to your collection.

What I liked regarding RPG features:

    - INSANE amount of quests and sides. I particularly enjoyed the quests of Ryujin Corp.

    - Once again you have all the tools to be whoever you want in the galaxy: Perks, customizable and moddable gear, customizable ship.

Want to be a merc? Lots of bounties quests and shadowy operations.
Want to be a pirate? Improve your combat skills and steal some other ships in order to improve yours, recruit crew and fight the fleets of the settled systems.
Want to be a good scientist? Survey entire systems and sell your data to Constellation organization.
A bad one? Why not trying to smuggle organs?
Want to be a colonizer? Construct outposts on remote planets or moons and start a mining industry.
You are more into transport industry? Transform your ship in a cargo freighter and loot all you can in order to supply the resellers.
Want to be an explorer? The main quests have you covered!

    - Not disappointed with level and interior design, always a pleasure to explore remote outpost or abandoned structures in order to find gear, meds or simply knowing more regarding the lore. Always has been a great strenght of the studio.

    - Persuasion system has been a bit improved. It feels more like a negotiation now than just a basic skill check. Doing some optional objectives can give you bonus in order to make the negotiation easier.

What I liked regarding Space Opera features:

    - Bethesda put a lot of work in creating an entire new universe. It’s a plausible futuristic installation with great architectures and interesting factions and corporations with their own design and artistic assets (logos, suits, gear, building interior design, etc...).

    - There is more life in the cities which are way bigger, more vendors, more stuff to do and more places to wander. It’s a huge step forward comparing to their previous game.

Resuming, the content of the game is great ! Unfortunately, it did not make me forget about the technical side.

Optimization is terrible and a lot has been said regarding this already. NPC interaction can be sometimes strange with facial expressions or head mouvement not always matching the dialogues. Vanilla UI is not great, sometimes even frustrating. I had to install some mods in order to have the basic (compact menus so you are not scrolling all the time, tags so you know what you are looting and quickly know what the items do or give, columns with more data with filters option). AI... Typical of vanilla games from Bethesda, not really smart opponents.

In a normal world, I would rate the game 7/10 in its current state. I am rating it 10 in order to compensate the 0s that this game absolutely does not deserve given the promising actual content.

There is no real space exploration. The characters, the dialogue and the story is horribly boring and uninteresting. The combat is atrocious. You have to fast travel everywhere. That is just a term made by corporations to silence the truth. People do not like this game and the fact that the review score from the critics is so vastly different than the peoples score is evidence that critics dont have integrity or they just dont know what a good game is. It's not "review bombing" to not like something. The whole point of criticism is to help improve things and we have every right to hate something just like you have the right to love it. Feelings aside this game is objectively bad and is the worst game Bethesda has ever made. These game developers clearly hate us. They don't care about our feedback and will just keep making awful games and unintelligent people will keep lining up to eat the slop. Expand

Save money, save time, don't play this fraud of a game. Not even worse the Game Pass sub. It's ridiculous. Boring quests, outdated graphics and nothing much to "explore", as proclaimed by Mr. Howards. How did this take seven years of development? I mean, HOW!!?!?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've played Starfield for 55 hours as of this review, and I'm really enjoying it. The game is massive, with a vast galaxy to explore and many planets to land on. I've spent hours just running around and exploring, and I've only scratched the surface. I've already dumped more hours into it than I did Skyrim and the many times I've restarted it, trying to commit to finishing it.

The gameplay is also a lot of fun. I love being able to fly my own spaceship and engage in combat with other factions or people. The crafting system is also really cool, and I'm looking forward to building my own weapons, armor, and the many outposts I play to supplant on the worlds I visit. Is it NMS? Definitely not as they're two different types of game. Overall, Starfield and No Man's Sky are two different types of space exploration games. Starfield is a more traditional RPG with a focus on story and handcrafted content, while No Man's Sky is a more open-ended sandbox game with a focus on exploration and discovery.

The story is still early, but it's already interesting. I'm intrigued by the mystery that I'm investigating, and I'm excited to see where the story goes. True to Bethesda form, the side quest are engaging as well with the sprinkle of events you come across as you travel.

Overall, I'm really impressed with Starfield. For a decade where we've seen nothing but flops at initial launch, Starfield has turned out to be a great game, and I can't wait to see what else it has to offer. This has been one of Bethesda's better releases in a long while. I hope it just goes upwards from here for team Bethesda. (whatever happened to Redfall! Let's hope they repeat that failure!)

Hot Tip (not a spoiler really):
When you get the mission "Into the Uknown", which you'll get after completing the first 2 missions of main quest line, do it first before exploring and side-quests. It will open up Starfield fully and you won't regret not doing it sooner like I did.

    - Incredibly poor optimization, can't get more than 30fps with my RTX 3060 at all
    - Loading screens everywhere every time. If you want to go from the surface of one planet to another you have to go through like 5 loading screens
    - NPCs all look weird like they are made out of plastic or something, animations are all deep in the uncanny valley as well - The Emil-written story is a joke

    - Bad dialog in general
    - Very little roleplaying and choice based gameplay. You are forced to join the constellation faction which I did not want to do because they are incredibly silly and unrealistic and the motivation for their existence just doesn't make any sense
    - Companions are super annoying and unlikable
    - Pretty much all of the factions are incredibly generic and uninteresting
    - Planets are barren copypasted nonsense (even Earth itself is just a single generic sand texture lazily spread over a sphere with nothing to explore)
    - Lots of resource gathering nonsense that is just bad and boring in general
    - Very grindy and annoying perk system which locks away basic functionality behind a bunch of silly "challenges" that you need to complete
    - Lack of quality side content in general
    - Lack of cool handcrafted locations to explore, there are only a few proper cities and even they feel very small and not very interesting or intricate
    - NPC schedules are gone and most NPCs in most towns are now just generic crowds that are constantly spawning in and out of existence
    - You can't pilot your ship inside a planet's atmosphere and there are no ground vehicles, it's 300 years into the future and all traveling has to be done on foot (very disappointing since mechs were shown on the trailers and they exist in the lore, but apparently were cut from the final game)
    - Combat is weak and has little impact. All enemies are bullet sponges who take way too many hits to die and never react to being shot or get staggered in any way
    - No gore, blood or violence like in previous Bethesda games

Tons of items to pick up but your inventory is always full, even with full inventory space upgrade. -1

Fraction quests are okay. I will give them that. not as good as those in oblivion. +1

There are only 4 romance option. Main Companions are annoying and boring. They left you if you steal and do pirate stuffs. Sam coe is okay solely because of the Adam jensen voice actor. -1

Fast travel simulator, dont even bother walking to your ship. You see that planet? You cant get there without going to the menu and fast traveling. They managed to make a game with exploration that feels shallower than Fallout or TES.
Even shooting manages to be worse than Fallout because they removed the gore, and the brainless enemies just stand still behind cover.
    You gotta be blind

You gotta be blind to think this game is beautiful, everything looks super artificial and dated, especially the water that looks straight from a game from 18 years ago, that coupled with the game dry lack of atmospheric effects ,sounds and flat topography, just makes it extra boring.
The performance right now is pathetic and expects you to use upscaling, the latest thing bad developers are trying to normalize.

Starfield is possibly the most disappointing game of this generation. It doesn't know what it wants to be a space sim or an rpg, as a result what you get is a small version of superior titles. Not to mention the horrible facial animations, and empty worlds. The only redeeming factor is you can basically play it for $1 on Gamepass.

Eventually I had to just accept that this game is so vast, it cannot be explored fully in one playthrough. It is designed to overwhelm you, and to make you feel small. The narrative references all of my favorite classic sci-fi, and it is clearly made for that audience, so if you’re not a sci-fi fan, maybe it’s not for you, but if you are (and you like Bethesda’s style of gameplay and storytelling), then you’re in for something great.

What they did here is astounding, and only someone who is extremely biased will tell you otherwise.

The game feels very outdated and very restricting. There's almost no reason to be in space and the gathering is so lazily designed that instead of actual rocks to mine they just look like little pimples on scattered about. Deceptive marketing was used to promote this game. They were selective with their review copies to make sure only those who would rate it positive got one.

My experience was mostly fine til the end of my playing when I encountered a bug with a quest that broke it entirely. You were supposed to kill some spacer ships in orbit around a planet but when I got there they were too tough for me so since the only way to disengage combat is to warp to another system I decided to go back to New Atlantis to upgrade my ships weaponry, well that ended up being a mistake because instead of staying there and being there when I got back as even the loading screen tips tell you they would, they actually followed me to New Atlantis and are stuck in a never ending loop of landing at the Starport then taking off again. They aren't there if I warp back to where they were supposed to be at and they just can't be killed now and the quest cant progress it's just stuck telling me to kill them at a location they are no longer at.

To make matters even worse for the game it managed to brick 3 of my most recent auto saves which is as many as they hold by default. I had a mission to take out spacers in a star ship and I went through all of that finished the mission and moved on to another planet to try to get a scanning mission done. While there I went and cleared out a bandit base and then set off to discover the planets special trait and finish my mission. I did eventually finish it and when I tried to fast travel back to my ship the game instantly crashed to the desktop and every time I loaded and tried to load my save it would instantly crash to desktop. It did this for all 3 of my recent auto saves and the most recent save it would load was the quick save I made before I entered that bandit starship. that was so long ago I lost all my will to keep playing.

Most of the game feels like going from one loading screen into the next like there's loading screens just to get to more loading screens. You never get that feeling like you are discovering anything you're just watching a load screen animation. It's got the same kind of combat feel and location discovery and clearing as Fallout 4 just empty areas filled with pencils and notebooks and tape with empty soulless loot pinatas to shoot at you when you get there, which is more or less to be expected from a Bethesda game. It feels and plays like a 2015 game.

Those were my worst moments with it but I could go on about how poorly animated the npcs are which isn't the biggest deal. It just feels older than it is and how it's got the usual bugs like the animations breaking and their mouths not moving while talking like ventriloquists, or sinking through the ground or floating into the atmosphere. I just can't recommend the game. Especially not for the price they are asking for it. It is not anywhere close to being worth 70 nevermind 100. If you want to play this game I would only recommend doing so after it has had more time to cook with patches and lets be real, mods, which are another concern as even though the game functionally seems like a Fallout 4 mod, is very demanding on modern systems which makes me wonder how well mods will even work given their own resource requirements. Bethesda notoriously relies on the community to fix bugs in their games. AND with a steep discount from a sale.

As is I give the game a 5/10 I would give a 6, 7 if extremely generous, if not for the bugs and even without them I would not recommend the game at full price. It's an old game with a modern updated AAA price point. It feels like they abandoned the open world cornerstone of their games entirely going through a city like Neon just makes you feel like you're going through Omega in Mass Effect 2. Sections of the city separated by loading screens and just about every shop and location is a loading screen to get into.

This is an early review of my first 13.5 hours of the game in pre-release and mostly a first impressions. I know my score is low for the expectations of such a large and anticipated title but because it did nothing extraordinary or exceptional to set it apart and feels more retro than new I don't think it deserves higher scores like 8's or 10's and the severity of the issues I encountered makes me drag it down. I can see it being a 7 maximum if the issues are mostly resolved via patching and if the rest of the game somehow gets a lot better. But it just sits in the mediocre and flawed category rather than broken or exceptional. It's not a new bethesda game, just another bethesda game same as the last and shows they're stagnating as a developer rather than innovating.

Get it on game pass and/or wait for a sale if you're into bethesda games, you'll enjoy it but it's just not what you'd have hoped and not worth the new AAA price tag the highest of any game they've sold.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
