This game is a solid 8.5 - 9/10. Some of the graphics in this game are absolutely astounding such as the ships and their interiors, indoor mission environments and character equipment. Outdoor environments can vary between fine and pretty good, but oh my god, I love just walking through the buildings and ships, filled with a million items you can pick up. It's a slow burn AND PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TRY EVERYTHING YOU CAN IN THIS GAME, There is so much content that is almost hidden or not told to you in this game that you have to look for and discover yourself. The game doesn't hold your hand too much in that aspect.

Ship combat and traversal is great (make sure you invest in perks). Although some may be disappointed it's not as deep as other similar games, its not as shallow as people think (there are ways to roleplay to make it more realistic, such as using the scanner to traverse a system without going through menus).

Performance is pretty hit or miss and will hopefully be fixed with patches (there are also some mods that can help, particularly for Nvidia GPUs). It works well enough but its not great. Ran on Ryzen 5600X and RX6700XT and had a mostly solid 60fps at high/ultra settings, do some tweaking here to squeeze fps.

Yes there are bugs, but i havnt run into any glaring bugs, just NPCs sometimes floating or jerking around a bit. Absolutely not a deal breaker at all.

There is to much to content to fit in a short review, just play it, please. Its a bit of a slow burn but please, just let it do its thing and you will love it!

The real deserved rating for Starfield. Starfield, without a doubt, is a very good game, but it is certainly not as phenomenal (or should I say, astronomical) as people say it is. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it took me about 12 hours to start liking the story which is just outrageous. A video game should not take me 12 hours to start getting likable. That is why I'm giving this game a 6/10. There is things to do, but they get old quickly, and the story is not all that good. Expand

Starfield is a game i originally downloaded via pc gamepass, but decided to buy on steam for early access.. and i'm not going to lie, its not what we were promised. its a bethesda game through n through, so if thats enough for you, youll love this. however, the constant emphasis on the 'immersion" "unparrelled freedom", and yet i dont see either. all the exploring is done mostly throughStarfield is a game i originally downloaded via pc gamepass, but decided to buy on steam for early access.. and i'm not going to lie, its not what we were promised. its a bethesda game through n through, so if thats enough for you, youll love this. however, the constant emphasis on the 'immersion" "unparrelled freedom", and yet i dont see either. all the exploring is done mostly through load screens and menus, you dont actually do most of the flying yourself, except in orbit between load times, and in fights. besides that, everything is done for you. theres very little faith in the players capabilities to do it themselves, and it takes you straight out of the game and its world, by taking control.. like as an optional feature, sure i can see it being useful and great.. but as the main and only means to transporting yourself round the world, it gets boring.

the main quest line has to be the most uninspiring dull, tedious and horrendously written story i've played yet.. its mostly go here, talk to them, go there, load load load, use menu to travel, load, shoot, talk, sneak, shoot, talk, load, fetch. most of the main story line is talking to people, and then delving into copy and pasted caves and dungeons etc to get the artificats. now.. there are a few great quests thrown in the main story, but by the time it picks up, its over.. theres no expert delivery, leaving you feel impacted by its story, world, characters or events.. theres minimal impact. the dialogue gets so tediously boring, you end up skipping alot of the filler content.. and the main story for 90% of it bored the living life out of me, with how tediously boring it was, paired with the insanely uninspiring and tediously annoying "exploration" system they have.. so even if one quest immersed you into its world, you're then taken straight back out of it, when your only means to travel is through menus and load screens. it doesnt exactly sound like unparrelled freedom and exploration, and is an insane set back in many ways in comparison to their other games. WOW is over 20 years old and you can seemlessly travel its map. this has no excuse. i had hoped the story would pick up and deliver a blow that made the tedious journey worth my time, but by the time i started to feel the build up, it was over with an anti climatic ending.. and a over hyped new game plus that had plenty of promise and potential to its jaw dropping plot twists, but ultimately fell flat as it leads nowhere at all to make any significant difference to your story, other than a few dialogue changes, but plopping you back into its dull world, and terrible story.. at first you have a chance to skip the story in NG+, and at first the new lines of dialogue is fresh.. but it leads nowhere. will i be able to find my old companions in this new world? nah. its a novelty.

the combat is nothing to shout home about, though its not the worst. its very much fallout 4 on steroids, a lil bit smoother than FO4, and a lil more fluent. the choice of weapons have an abundance of choices to choose from, to suit your gameplay style. although their melee system is horribly bad and out dated, with no improvements from their previous games at all.

the sidequest is where this game shines, and unfortunately so, as if your side content over shadows your main.. something is wrong.. however, the side content very much out shined the main story, and engages you in quests that very much feel quality wise, 10 folds better than the 7th grade written main plots. i will keep this part short, as i dont want to spoil anything. but get arrested, that quest is one of theee best, regardless on where you choose to branch.

summary: this game couldve been a genre defining GOTY exclusive, but has ultimately been laid flat, with the countless words being sprung out of petes mouth, that ultimately mis communicated somewhere along the way of what to expect with this game. is this game bad? no.. depends. if youre looking for an immersive flight exploration game, AVOID THIS. if you're looking for fallout in space without much ship exploration manually done.. and you can bare loading screen after loading screen, then this is for you. ive played over 50 hours to form this opinion, and it just aint what we were told it would be. too much promises, and very little delivery, its a beautiful game, and one of the smoother BGS's experiences to date, however with a uninspiring main story, and tedious exploration system that makes starfield fall flat on its face. once youve finished the game once, after 50 hours i feel very little urge to jump back on, instead im going back to star citizen and elite dangerous.. i hope with updates, mods, and the expansion, alot of these issues are resolved. but rn, id say wait for a sale.

    *PUNTOS POSITIVOS:

The NPCs are hilariously bad - I followed a captain on ship to her bridge and whilst she was talking all the way every single NPC I passed said something stupid over the top of her talking. This is just one example of how bad they are. My companion constantly gets in the way of other NPCs, blocking quest progress or making the NPC turn around and take a very long route to a room next to me.

The inventory management, UI and menus will drive you insane. The game barely, if at all, explains any of its mechanics to you.

If you choose to land on a planet, I hope you enjoy walking. You have to walk *everywhere* for kilometres to find anything. If you sprint, you run out of O2. There are no vehicles to assist you and you cannot even add a waypoint anywhere. The maps are utterly useless.

I am currently stuck because I gave up trying to navigate in space from one planet to another because the starmap used for navigation is the *worst* I have seen in a space game.

This game is one big mess. It looks like an antique and still has very high hardware requirements, be prepared for 30 frames on good hardware. The NPCs are extremely stupid, the AI that guides them is as wooden as the facial animations. The plot is written by ChatGPT and the exploration in space ... doesn't exist. The biggest gameplay disappointment I can remember.

Some of these drones excuse was a predictable "they haven't played the game" or "these must be Sony Fanboys" on valid criticism for the state of the game in 2023. Because tthat's the only way they can justify to keep kneeling down with their mouth open for whatever Todd Howard is giving them. Nothing made a game studio looks worst than it is than Bethesda's and XBOX's rabid fanbase that are so starved of exclusive game that they are willing to whore themselves for this trash.

It's Bethesda's game, with all its jankiness, incomplete features, and design decision that made you scratch your head in a 2023 AAA game. No brightness and no FOV sliders in 2023? 30 FPS menu in 2023? Absolutely lazy game design with an outdated graphic engine. Not to mention unspired story, dead eyes NPCs, and random **** of bugs that it absolutely hilarious to see people still defend it.

It's funny that Larian moved Baldur's Gate III release ahead of this fearing competition when Starfield still couldn't hold a candle to the epic masterpiece in term of concurent users, sheer review score, and amount of content. That was a passion project and it showed. Baldur's Gate III animals have a better personality, animations, and emotions than your main story companions in Starfield. If this is the best XBOX can muster for their exclusives, they deserve to be dead on the water for any future console wars. Pathetic garbage of a game.

Do I recommend it? not on a full price. Wait for a sale and wait till modders fix this game. As always.

Title: A Promising Start: First Impressions of Bethesda's Latest Xbox Title

    Score: 7 out of 10

After playing it for little over 44 hours, I've delved deep into the world of Bethesda's latest Xbox release. With over 30 side quests, a handful of main story missions, and a good chunk of exploration, I'm ready to deliver my initial verdict.

    Performance Woes (-1 pt)

While the game offers an immersive experience, I couldn't help but knock off a few points due to performance issues. The absence of DLSS support is a glaring oversight, making the game's performance on my high-end rig, equipped with a 5900x processor, a 3080 graphics card, and an M.2 SSD, less than optimal.

Promising but Deceptive Advertising (-2 pts)

One gripe I have is with the misleading advertising that promised limitless planetary exploration. The reality, though immersive, does have its fair share of limitations and barriers. While it doesn't affect the core gameplay, it's worth noting.

    Exceptional Side Quests and Characters

Where this game truly shines is in its side quests and characters. The portrayal of characters and the narratives surrounding them are nothing short of exceptional. I've encountered a variety of companions, each with captivating backstories. Vladmir, I have yet to engage with, but the existing companions have already left a lasting impression.

A Solid Addition to Bethesda's Lineup

Overall, this game is shaping up to be one of the top titles in Bethesda's Xbox library. The delay in its release has clearly paid off in terms of refinement and polishing. In my playtime, I've encountered only three minor bugs, a testament to the developers' dedication.

In conclusion, while there are performance issues and some deceptive advertising, Bethesda's latest title shows great promise, especially in its characters and side quests. With a few more patches, this could easily become a must-play for Xbox gamers. Stay tuned for the full review as I continue my journey through this captivating world.

The game is a beautiful piece of art from all angles and its rocks the bethesda rpg style so well, just like it's Brothers skyrim and Oblivion. Ah, another Bethesda title, and yet again, I'm left wondering if they ever learn. The game follows the same worn-out formula that's become all too predictable. Open world? Check. Game-breaking bugs that pop up just when you're immersed? Double check.

The NPCs still feel lifeless and robotic, reciting lines with the enthusiasm of a malfunctioning voice assistant. Side quests? Sure, if by "side quests" you mean a never-ending list of repetitive tasks that make you question your life choices. The AI? Still as baffling as ever. Enemies that sometimes just stand there, letting you shoot them point-blank, or allies who become obstacles in narrow hallways.

Graphics? Well, they're typical Bethesda – sometimes breathtakingly beautiful, but often marred by janky animations and the odd graphical glitch that catapults you into the stratosphere.

Their crafting system, while expansive, feels tacked on and unnecessarily convoluted, like they're trying to give the illusion of depth where there isn’t any. And let's not forget the lore inconsistencies that would make any long-time fan scratch their head in confusion.

In conclusion, it's the same old Bethesda experience - vast yet shallow, ambitious yet buggy. One day, I hope they’ll surprise me, but today is not that day.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game, for me, is just a gigantic disappointment. I remember Todd Howard talking about the moments were the player "discovered" the world of a game, like exiting the Vault in Fallout, and how they made Starfield with two of those moments, one for discovering your world and the other for discovering "the universe". That got me hypped... They showed the ship customization and all that incredible stuff... But when I've played the game and found out that the "space exploration" was fast traveling... Yeah... Niiiiice... Didn't knew I was "space traveling" since Skyrim.

Besides that, the gameplay is just generic... It's an generic FPS. Nothing special, really. No VATS, no finishing move, no nothing... You go, you shoot the enemy, the enemy is like a bullet sponge, at some point it dies... Yay, innovation at its peak.

The NPCs are just boring... The animations and voice acting are just bad. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years they come out and reveal that it was all A.I. generated. And one of them, spoiler warning, jump to the next paragraph if you want to play this game, wouldn't stop following me until I finished a quest I didn't signed up for. I was going to go with him retrieve an artifact from some place in a planet called Akila. Arriving there the bank was getting robbed. I just said to the guard "I'll keep that in mind" and tried to move on. The mayor started talking with us and there was NO WAY of not getting involved, of not helping them, not being the "good guy"... I tried, but the freaking space cowboy steps up and say "my friend can be your solution"... I don't want to be the solution. I left the planet and tried to move on to other quests, but the space cowboy wouldn't stop following me until I've finished it's quest. I've tried to kill him, it was impossible. I closed the game, uninstalled and went back to Baldur's Gate 3, a real RPG.

This game is just garbage.. I was going to give it a 3 out of 10, but as I was writting I just noticed that it is a 1 out of 10 at best. Mods probably will save it at some point, but man... This is just sad. Never buying a Bethesda game before trying it for at least 50 hours.

If you want to play it, go for it... If you're after an awesome RPG, just play Baldur's Gate.. Or other Bethesda games if you haven't tried them yet. TES Oblivion and Skyrim, or FO3, FONV and/or FO4 are waaaaaaay better than Starfield. And way cheaper too.

The stories that are being told are simple amazing and the best work bethesda has done. Everytime i stop i want to play more and get back in. there is so much to do and the game is huge. For every quest you complete you get 4 more in return. also the game has a lot of hearth and it can be very cozy and immersive. And the attention to detail is insane. You can see they hired the dude from the skyrim clutter mod because every item you can pick up looks amazing. I am currently collecting monster plushies and coffee mugs. But...

It does struggle on my pc. With a 3700x and a 2080TI i thought i could handle it. I was wrong. i can barely get 60fps on 1440p on high and ultra with fsr in outside zones. Still even at 30 fps its playable and you dont really notice it. the graphics do look good but i feel not that good for bringing my 2080ti to its knees already. The other gripe i have is the exploration and space travel. I expected more of a space sim. But it is really a bethesda rpg. think about skyrim or fallout in space. Once i accepted that the exploration became fun again. All the other critisim like facial expressions and all the other things you hear really dont bother me.

Anyway, i love the game. the easter eggs and attention to detail is amazing and you should experience this.

Some aspects I will comment on first: the design of ships, interiors, electronics, etc. are stellar and a breath of fresh air. Interiors are densely packed with items and you can open/close a ton of containers. You can read just about everything - whiteboards, notes, signs, system displays; I really like that the models and physical design is thoughtful and believably realistic. It makes the game feel a bit like an immersive sim where everything in the world feels like it has purpose. Also, in general the voice acting is great and doesn't feel like you're talking to the same NPC every other interaction.

Leading into the big thing the game dedicates its name to, the space travel is.. not it. Interacting with menus and submenus on keyboard and mouse is tedium. The requirement of fast-traveling and heavy reliance on filler loading animations is janky and old even the first time around.

It calls me back to Mass Effect 1 where you have to wait for the elevator to finish, even if the game loaded. Adding salt to the wound, that's the same game that did this exact map and fast travel system better sixteen years ago. Even considering the stuck-in-the-Mako planetary experiences, Starfield has the opposite problem of having to walk everywhere.

The list of things that Starfield hasn't impressed me on is pretty much everything else. Not so fun gameplay, lack of responsive and challenging AI, the UI and UX is pretty bad overall (at least on keyboard and mouse); though I won't comment on the writing as I haven't completed enough main story or side content.

The world is particularly sterile and empty feeling. While I can't say I expected stuff to be any more dynamic because we're on Gamebyro's uncountable iteration, I can't help feeling disappointed that there is still minimal world interactivity; lights are static, items, glass, etc are indestructible, the majority of NPCs are lifeless filler. Cyberpunk 2077 was **** on launch with objects/NPCs popping in, tons of features not working at all, cops spawning out of thin air (infinitely, too!). Night City was hailed as graphically cool but ultimately empty, and the rest was raked over the coals. Now say "Bethesda" 5 times in the mirror and Starfield gets a pass (and Todd doesn't break your legs).

To expand on NPCs: Terrible right now, but definitely could be bugged systems. Interacting with them can be tedious (zoom+camera switch no matter where they are in relation to each other) besides that they are cardboard props. Running around causing mayhem in the streets? Point guns at them, shoot around them - no reaction. Steal a sweet roll? Time to die. Of course, the classic Bethesda guard telepathy is still kicking. Steal something or kill someone 500,000LY away from the nearest guard? Stop right there criminal scum!

In combat it's not uncommon for enemies to stand still and do nothing, sometimes they slide into place to perform a slow/janky animation like jumping, all while your bipedal robo pal walks over and smacks them to death (with admittedly funny ragdolls and dialogue).

General gameplay is pretty much TES and FO. Honestly even a step back because the world is far less reactive and more sterile; there's no gore or dismemberment, the best you'll get is them going into an Apex Legends crawl after some damage. Fallout has a satirical feeling atmosphere, so the often wacky NPC animations, random dialogue from the same 3 voice actors as everyone either runs or gangs up on you is amusing. The same goes for Skyrim and Oblivion, where they have fantasy-world whimsicality and radiant interactions.

Definitely not a fan of some skill tree upgrade "challenges" or tasks. An obnoxious example is to reach the next tier of stamina upgrade by depleting oxygen (including filling the co2 bar fully) 20 times, where my solution was being overencumbered, running in a circle on the ship, then sleeping and repeat 20x. Some of these things are fine if they occur through normal gameplay, but that action twenty times is not. Meanwhile in the lockpick tree, it's "lockpick 5 things".

Deja vu. I've played this game a dozen times already.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 100 hours in and I have beaten the game several times: Major spoilers.

This is not a game for everybody. I will say that right now, its an epic space game that makes the most of the tech it has.

Starfield is not a normal RPG, at its core a pure sandbox, and Space Opera Sim. The planets are simulated, along with an impressive physics and temperature/biome simulation. Each planet that can support life has between 2-12 Hand crafted, original creatures and plants. Each planet capable of hosting life also has several types of biomes, with separate life in each one. Some planets are seriously aggressive and terrifying, with hostile plant life and gasses emanating from it. The desolation and isolation of frontier is broken up by numerous hand crafted quests events and POI's. Countless named and un named crew can be hired for your starship and Outposts you create. Allowed you to play through just about any space fantasy you can have. Minor followers can have very deep back stories, with personal requests and quests.

The dialogue is emotional, and the game actually reacts to the player in the background, adjusting the story based on relationships you build in the background.
And once you finish the main quest, that's when Starfield shines brightest. New Game Plus is integrated into the story and even the philosophy of the game. MAJOR SPOILERS: Starfield gives the player a dilemma, they can live in the universe they know, or they can "move on" to a parallel universe. They gain more powerful ships and armor each run, and also there are chances for some "interesting" modifiers each runs. NPCs live different lives, Faction leaders can be different, and you can even get Special rare universes that are hardcore. Saving is disabled and you can only used unarmed. They are beatable. One I seen was filled with different reality versions of my character. in one of them they attacked me because a previous version of me was evil. Starfield is a masterpiece.

    Starfield: A Galactic Nightmare

Starfield, the highly anticipated open-world RPG set in space, had promised to be a revolution in the space exploration and discovery.
However, after two years of anticipation and high expectations, what we got is an experience that fails to live up to its developer's promises. In this review, we will explore the reasons behind this disappointment and analyze key aspects that affected the overall quality of the game.

    Repetitive Space Exploration:
One of the most exciting features touted for Starfield was the ability to explore multiple planets and solar systems. Unfortunately, this promise is marred by a lack of variety and depth in exploration. Most planets seem to be designed with a similar template, with landscapes and settlements that feel recycled. Exploration quickly becomes monotonous, as most planets offer similar experiences, with very few surprises. This is a major letdown, considering the game's potential to offer a true sense of discovery in space.

    Very outdated tech:
Starfield inherits the combat system from Bethesda's previous games like Fallout, which feels outdated compared to contemporary shooter games. Firefights lack the fluidity and excitement we would expect from a space shooter. The lack of innovation in this regard is frustrating, as the game had the opportunity to shine and provide a truly memorable combat experience.

Another disappointment in Starfield is the lack of significant advancements in character facial expressions. Despite promises of technological improvements, characters still have stiff faces and limited expressions. This affects immersion in the game and makes interactions with characters feel emotionally shallow and robotics.

The developer had suggested that Starfield would be a significant technological leap, but in reality, the advancements are minimal. While the game is visually impressive in some aspects, it doesn't feel like a substantial leap compared to other titles of the same era. Technological "seams" are often evident, which detracts from the immersion in the game world.

For every action we want to do we have to swallow a lot of loading screens again and again. It is NOT a smooth gaming experience. This is especially irritating after a few hours of playing and having to sit through dozens of loading screens.

    Horrible performance:
Regarding the performance of the game, it is the worst I have tried from Bethesda in my life. A nightmare. You need an upper-middle-range PC to play at 60fps even at medium settings. Forget about having a good experience with a GPU below a 3070 TI in max settings and a six cores CPU with a very high IPC. Visually you will not encounter anything nor does anything happen in the game that justifies these disproportionate requirements.

The game starts off pretty slow, as a lot of people are saying, but as you keep going, following the storyline and the sidequests (which are pretty cool), exploring derelict staryards and untouched planets, you will be pretty happy that you kept going.

The beauty of this game for me, its the sidequests which are pretty extensive and sometimes i think they are better than the main constellation storyline, the UC vanguard for example.

Frankly, i dont know why so many people are review bombing this game, maybe its because of 30 fps on consoles, maybe its playstation, or they just didn't like the flow of the game. What i know is that this game is another masterpiece from bethesda and i cant wait for modders start playing around with it.

World building - wholely unconvincing: Everyone shares one American culture and acts like they are from the 1950's. In many cases the bloody Wild West. And not even the real Wild West but that of John Wayne movies. People wear spacesuits from the 1960's, yet have interstellar travel. Computers run some version of Windows 95. Robots have worse voice simulation software than your iphone. The future is full of hokey morality vending machines, and interstellar coffee shops. Ridiculous. None of the cutting areas of science are explored. It spams out other peoples tropes badly when they were outdated half a century ago. But golden age of sci fi this is not. It is clearly not written by people with any knowledge of sci fi or science.

Writing: I don't want to talk to anyone - including main characters. the writing is juvenile and patronising. Like it was written by a complete amateur.
Graphics. Apart from the pretty character creation, the graphics are rubbish. This is acceptable to some degree with a big RPG, but it extends to the characters who fail to convince as human beings let alone compelling characters.
Gunplay. I can't even see most of the enemies - thankfully there is a label over them, so I shoot that. There is absolutely no sense of connection either hitting someone or being hit. I only know I am being hit when a pop up tells me to use a medipack. The AI is so stupid it doesn't even notice you are there as you fire 20 shots into it.
Exploration: You can't take off and land. Fair enough. But you can't even orbit a planet or plot a course outside a menu. If you try and explore you are confronted by a barren plane, with about as much charm as filler zone in a MMO.
Roleplaying: There is none. You get a few trite options for saying variations of the same thing, that don't seem to do anything at all. I guess you just have to use your imagination.
Everything about it is worse than any previous Bethseda release. I don't see how even mods can save it. At leasrt there previous games had dense interesting starting locations and atmosphere. There is none of that here.
I'm bored. That's it. I can't in all fairness score it more than a 1 - my lowest score ever by at least 5 points. It does almost everything worse than games they made 12 years ago, and has no character, no decent story, no roleplaying options, no decent worlduilding. The much maligned Cybperpunk was light years ahead even at launch.

I agree with the critic reviews. This game is fantastic! What I like best is that Bethesda lets you play however you’d like. You want to be a space pirate? Go for it. You want to be an explorer? Explore to your heart’s content. You feel like being a chef? You can do that too. This game has endless possibilities and I love that. Overall 10/10 and my personal GOTY.

Starfield is a great game has a lot of ups and some downs. Love the quests, ship and outpost building, and the feeling of being small in a big world. It also has some downs no underwater swimming, exploration doesn't feel as satisfying as it should in a space exporation game especially in space where you feel so limited. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Been playing Starfield for a few days now, put in about 10 hours worth of time. I have to say from what I played it has delivered pretty well as to my expectations. The beginning of the game starts off well and builds the story pretty quickly. The combat in space is pretty decent. There could be improvements, however the game is massive. I overall see myself playing this as much as I played fallout 4 in the past. The modding scene for this game will more than likely be massive. Expand

I loved this game. Starfield is Bethesda's best game. It took everything that was good about Fallout and Skyrim and made it better. I loved the ship fights.

I haven't had any critical bugs in my game, just menu crashing bugs or something like that, nothing special. If you are a fan of RPG, shooting and space content, then this game is really for you! But if you don't like RPG games,

It could have some more details in the graphics, especially the facial expressions of the NPCs, but it's still a great game!

I recommend it to everyone. It won't win the GOTY award, but it's a great game! 9/10 easily!!!

I wrote a 3000 character analysis that was lost due to a website error when uploading. Fantastic (maybe it's my fault for writing it straight here, anyway).

The animations and graphics are just horrible, the faces are the things of nightmare and walking looks like some freakish marionette with a pole stuck up its nether regions.

Not sure how the ball was dropped so thoroughly here in terms of innovation.

Just like the procedural generation used to spawn procedural dull planets this game appears to be a procedural iteration of skyrim and fallout just like the dated creation engine it is based on.

The developers seem to be mired in the past and have created a boring walking simulator full of fetch quests which have one way of solving them.

I am trying to play and like it, however get bored out of my brain within an hour generally.

I expected a lot better and unfortunately these expectations were not met, particularly in the context of better games being released recently which do move gaming forwards.

Pick it up on a sale and hope that the modding community also picks it up, as it this point that is the only way this vacuous, dated edifice has any hope of looking or playing out with any sort of depth and content.

10 years in the making and 10 minutes of interest,

Indie devs put this to shame, this is like the reverse of the moon landing however, one giant backwards step for gaming and one giant leap backwards for innovation, graphics, content and care.

I’ve done like 20 side quests and it’s all distilled down to: go to waypoint and interact with objective (loot/kill) and return. The AI for NPC combat is pretty darn buggy and isn’t very difficult even on max difficulty. I’ve killed more NPCs that just stand and look at me or are bugged out at walls than not.
The graphics aren’t bad but after playing bg3 with all the motion captured acting/animations, it just looks janky. It is no where near next gen in terms of appearance.
I’ll play it and finish it, but it definitely feels like they were really really limited by their decision not to upgrade to an newer engine. Tons of loading screens, even to just walk into buildings in the city.
You can literally pick up a transport side quest from the mission board and instantly teleport to the destination to complete the quest through a series of UI interactions without even flying your ship.

StarField should be called StarTrucker as Bethesda decide to thought it will be a good idea to mimic the life of a truck stop in game. The sad thing is people who work at the truck stop, both truckers and prostitutes are more beautiful than the NPCs in game. I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
