Then i finished the campaign around lvl 50 and decided to work on all my renown. I'm level 60 now and I am so bored with this game, it's hard to even play now. It also caters to those who are group players, since I am solo, I am punished for that with less XP. I made a few alts but in my mind, I know they will end up the same as the first character I played. Also, alt leveling is terrible, the map isn't even fully discovered, even after selecting to finish the campaign. You also cannot go back to certain areas you were in while questing in the campaign, like hell (which this game is all about). The mob density is almost abysmal. In some dungeons, I am running around for a long period of time and run into 1-2 single white mobs, make that make sense to me in an ARPG. They are also nerfing the mob density in dungeons, how? Why? It sucks, I really want to like this game but in its current state, I do not like it at all and would not recommend it to anyone. I paid 90 bucks for this game and I feel ripped off. Expand

    Do not buy this !

This game is designed to sell you skins for mounts.
The world is empty and there is nothing to do besides
    Boring fetch quests.

Mobs scale to your level so you are feel like a potato all
    The time.

Good drops only good for a couple levels and get useless.

The only good thing is the artstyle and thats it.

You can still make the game hard without level scaling. Oh hey Diablo 2 was groundbreaking, lets never do anything like it again. Essentially makes it pointless to play the game, a level 5 will out damage a level 60. Looks pretty stupid and makes it pointless to play. No feeling of progression or accomplishment. If you want the game to be "hard", elden ring showed you how, not with this artificial **** that everyone agreed was stupid 15 years ago in Oblivion. Your most famous and successful game of all time, Diablo 2, didn't have it but you think both sequels needed it after everyone keeps saying they hate it. Everyone is either "fine" with it or absolutely hates it....so who the **** is it for? No one is asking and begging for level scaling...legit no one. Expand

Immagine having the name DIABLO 4 and no Diablo boss to fight. Amazing.

Paying 70-100 € and having an Battlepass in game + totally overpriced Skin Shop. Stuff like that should be illegal.

    1. 99% of items you find, are weaker and trash. No wonder when they are around 10 lvls to low. Just got from lvl 34 enemy 25 lvl legend.
    2. Everything in the game is heavily overpriced. Everything costs just to much gold
    3. Balancing is a joke, you don't feel stronger when you lvl up. It's getting even worse. I just had to fight like 10 minutes to beat a battle with 3 bosses. I deald damage around 30-150 and they had like 100k hp each. Bulletsponges. If you are so bad in balancing then you really should stop making games.
    4. Skills cost to much MP. You use a skill like 1-3 times and you are out of mana.
    5. Bugs, you realy often just stuck while running
    6. Stuns etc. are by far to long.
    7. You don't even have a belt to equip
    8. Balancing of classes is not available. Druide forexample does 0 damage compared to a rouge. Been fighting one monster like 30 seconds and dealt around 20-30% damage to his HP. Rouge came closer, used his skills and that monster died instantly. How on earth can you balance something that bad when you have done so many games already.
    9. You don't even have a correct way to show and see your stats. Your weapon has like 200 DPS with 2 slots. You put 2 gems in it and it still tells you exact the same damage output. Common, this stuff has been done in Diablo 3 already. In Diablo 3 you could see EVERY change immediatly. Again, how can you fail to do something, you've done before?
    10. 100 $ game with microtransaction in the game and 100% the new classes etc. will be DLC so you will have to pay even more. Not sure why scam like that is legal.

    Definitelly do not buy.

My main gripe with Diablo 4 is itemization. Usually, the best part about a Diablo game is going through your the gear you just looted. I found this part to be such a chore in Diablo 4. I even ended up buying more stash tabs just to store all the rare items I didn't feel like going through. Making rares as good as legendary doesn't make any sense. They literally just took the pool of attributes that items could have in Diablo 3 and added a bunch of completely unnecessary new ones that just don't make a lot of sense.

I find myself at the endgame with no desire to play anymore. I was quite literally addicted to each of the other games in this series at one point or another, but I never had that with this game. Hopefully, they can patch this into something enjoyable at some point.

So imagine this game as a sports car driving in deep mud. The wheels are spinning but you're getting nowhere fast. This is a chore to play and if I wanted chores, trust me, gaming would be the last thing on my mind. Of course, it's a live service game, so I expect they'll sell solutions to the problems they've made here... What a fall from grace. A huge number of perks like + damage to basic skills, or + damage to main skills, + damage to melee, or + to ranged. These are garbage stats and they are worse than standard + to crit. Because of these garbage stats, it is very difficult to respec.
Legendary items and their properties are impersonal - they are simply random and knocking them out does not bring a sense of reward. Also, the most beautiful skins are paid and cost an indecently huge amount of money.
The graphical effects of the skills look unremarkable and dull, as if it were a port from a mobile game, for example, the skills of a wizard look worse than in Diablo 3.
I just can't believe Blizzard allowed such boring and repetitive gameplay to release. As if game designers are some laymen with no experience.

I wanted to give Blizzard another chance, but basically scamming me like that (at least I didnt get the $100 version), for a lazily produced POS like this? I wont forget that ever.
They are lucky there are no returns possible, and they obviously designed the game so that you cant see the biggest issues in the first 2 hours of the game (where a refund is possible). I wont forget that either.
Oh yeah, it also has massive loading-stutters, even on the fastest SSD you can get and massive rubberbanding, even when youre just on your own. You can and will die to both.

When compared to diablo 2, every character in this game feels like a wierd abomination of mage & warrior style class stitched together:
    - The game gives almost no feedback when you are hit, compared to various action recovery mechanics in d2. This means, obviously, you cannot "feel" your character's armour, unlike in d2.
    - Every skill in this game has damage tied to your weapon damage. This makes your sorcerer character not so much sorcerer-like.
    - With weapon equipped and using skills the animation depends entirely on skills but not weapons; and those skills hit in a circle, not individual targets. This make your barbarian character not so much warrior-like.

Overall the lack of class differentiation makes this game a substandard ARPG and I strongly discourage anyone to buy it.

Diablo IV is really good from 1-50, or when you finish the story mode. However, the game becomes a slugfest after level 60. Diablo IV is plagued by a bad UI, terrible item management, and the dramatic increase it takes to level. Not to forget that the "MMO" aspect of the game is dead, it is just a ploy to make you purchase in-game store items.

Skill balance is terrible, partly because D4 joins the bandwagon of games that severely limit the number of active skills that a player can have available (6 skills). When you only have 6 options, there's no room for experimentation or non-meta builds.

The boss fights get redundant. One long fight with a handful of repeated mechanics immediately followed by another. Blizzard got the message that epic fights are cool and enjoyable, and decided to just add more instead of analyzing "why" those fights are enjoyable. In the end each fight becomes boring, stale, and repetitive. For the most part I can't remember which abilities each boss had except for the most recent, because they're not memorable fights. They're just tedious and time consuming.

And then the game creates a sense of frustration due to poor Controls, extensive stuns & fears, and a terrible resource mechanic. Not to mention server disconnects.

Grindy, unoriginal, frustrating content is a hard pass for me at this point in my life. I'll keep trying back over the months, maybe they'll get it fixed. But being bored, and done with a game, in a week just doesn't seem like a good purchase.

Also the controls are very clunky. In D2, it was always possible to escape mobs because the screen was zoomed out quite a lot, in D4, there is no way, wherever you click, you will target a mob and so your character won't move but shoot. You can bind a key to Force Move but this should be done by default.

Items and damage make no sense, there are just so many magical items, and yet they all sucks. The quests and mobs also increase in difficulty while you level up so there is never an easy quest to finish.

Being limited to 4 health potions is another non-sense. I can have 20 boots, armors, helmets, in my bag, but no health potions? Obviously, this is not a role-playing game, it's an action game. Most of the time, when I die, it's because I didn't have enough potions, this forces you to go back and forth between the nearest town and the quest. So boring. In D2 or other games you have to prepare before you go on a quest, here you just go and TP back, and go again. Also, town portals are free and unlimited, but health potions limited to 4? Ridiculous.

Anyways, I am happy I didn't buy the season pass. There are much better ARPGs around.

Another Blizzard game where items are bound to the players account and you can not trade them. Free2Play games have a nice trade system but blizzard with billions of cash, is not able to do that aswell.

Mana regeneration is the worst I've seen in years. The spells cost by far to much mana. You use a spell like 2 times and you are out of mana AND there are enemy which can take your mana away. Wow, why devs keep putting stupid and annoying mechanics like that in their games.

People where asking to put gems and all crafting material into your 2nd pockets so you have more inventory slots and what did they do in D4? they have reduced the storage space by allot and made the items consume even more space and the redicolous part is that these gems stack only to 50. Who ever designed this trash should be fired.

How on earth are you supposed to play several classes + seasons which might come into the game in near future when there is no storage to vault your items......

How can a smaller company do all these things and a billionaire one is not able to do 10% of it?
Billions of dollars and not able to make a bigger storage / inventory system what a joke.

How long have they been working on Diablo 4 ? Everything seems to be copy and paste. You fight the same enemy all over again. The same bosses.

The quests, dungeons are totally annoying and boring. You do the same boring stuff all the time. Like kill all enemy on this and that place to be able to kill the boss. Serously, who made that stuff up? You can't even pick up the shrines, no you have to fight many of them to be able to pick them up. Many god like mechanics where the enemy is immune to everything. You have to destroy the linked parts to be able to damage that boss. Can not believe how tedious that is.

Balancing is a joke, especially the druid class. I've been playing games for so many years and this class is one of the 1st one which feels frustrating to play. No damage at all, keeps instantly dieing although I am using so many defense stuff and spells, I still die instant. My druid lvl 70 does by far less damage than a rogue lvl 50, what a joke is that? How on earth can a company be that bad in balancing stuff when they have finished several games like that before? Just don't get it. Druid is the worst class I've seen in years.

Oh and the fact that the elemental resistences are not working at all, is just a joke. Been adding resistence stuff for a long time and they do absolutely nothing at all.

Not to forget the annoying dungeon mechanics like that moving stone that follows you and keeps hitting you or that annoying flying object that can even one shot you, who came up with this stupid idea srly.

You keep stuck everywhere, no matter if you are on your horse or just running around. Your character just keeps randomly stopping.

Item drops are really bad, this is the 1st game in years where item drops are so bad that 10+ lvl higher items can be still weaker than the stuff you are wearing.

Not to forget the nonstop freezes in this game. I am getting screen freezes and stuttering all the time.

    Totally avoid this game.

Play something free2play, you'll have more of that mentioned.

Don't listen for the flattering reviews of Blizzard sycophants. The game is mediocre. Gameplay is boring and tedious.
This game was created not for the sake of gameplay, but for the sale of skins in the in-game store.

-Forcing summoners to play a necro-nurse build. Minions should be viable as a sole damage dealer. But since you can't invest into them via skill points it creates an unfair advantage when compared to other classes. I have played all 5 Diablo games, and when I say Immortal offers far more than D4, it's a painful indication of how bad it is.

    The Good:

    1) It's a new DIablo game.
    2) New story & new areas to explore, and there's plenty to explore.

The Bad (stay a while & listen, this will take long):

    1) The Classes - Blizzard went down the worst-case-scenario route. They copy/pasted all the classes from D2 & charged us full price. As if that wasn't bad enough, they also copy/pasted all the Skills from D2 as well, except they removed a bunch of them from each class and only came up with 1-2 new ones.

To make matters worse, you get less skills to choose from. Add to that the poorly designed resource system where you get 3 spender casts per mana pool, and then you have to spam your grossly underpowered Basic Skill & hit like a wet tissue until you have enough mana to cast another spender.

Class-wise, D4 offers nothing but the same crap we've all played for thousands of hours before. Result = Zero replayability. Brain rot sets in that much faster because there's nothing new to play. If I wanted to play the same crap from 23 years ago, I'd play D2 or D2 remaster. I didn't pay $140 in my currency to play the same old crap copy/pasted from that 23 year old fossil. B-O-R-I-N-G.

    2) Skill Customization: on top of the atrocious copy/paste from D2, you only get about 58 Skill points total. The so-called Skill tree is a jumbled mess of bad ideas. You have a low amount of skills to choose from, and a bunch of boring passives scattered around. Each Skill has 2 further options to choose from as a bonus to it.

Simply a tiny bonus to a state, whether it's resource generation or duration increase etc. Nothing remotely interesting as swapping elements or changing its function, like turning Arcane Orb into Frozen Orb or Scorch in D3.

    3) Itemization: Oh boy. General itemization is quite bland. Then you throw in the so-called Legendaries/Uniques, and it gets worse. Most legendary powers are a total bore, there's barely anything interesting to choose from. Most of them are "do this to get a bonus to *insert random affix*".

Meanwhile the Skills & playstyle stay the same. There's not even a single element swap, nevermind changing the Skill's nature in any interesting or meaningful way.

To make it worse, upgrades are few & far in between, making you feel more underpowered every time you level because the enemies level alongside you and are damage sponges more often than not. It often takes you 2 full mana pools to take out a pack of trash enemies.

Legendary drop rate is extremely low early on for the first 30-35 levels, seems to pick up past that point but it doesn't seem to matter when you're lvl40 and you're still getting lvl25 drops, whether it's from monsters or Gambling. It's absolutely ridiculous.

    4) Enemies: D4 has the most boring Bestiary out of all Diablo games. There's more copy/paste enemies across each region than there are enemies native to those regions. Wolves, bears, boars, bats, ghosts/wraiths, human bandits, Fallen...that's about it.

And btw, you can't fight any of the Act/story bosses again. B-O-R-I-N-G.

    5) Max level: it's 100. Not sure if enemies & events give too little XP, or there's too high XP requirements, but the level grind is an absolute chore if you don't use any exploits. I'm currently lvl57 and I'm this close to uninstalling.

Seasons are going to be a massive flop.

    6) Combat: it's actually not as smooth as D3's even though it's supposed to be a newer version of D3's engine, and it's nowhere near as satisfying. That's even more likely because of terribly designed itemization which turns the monsters into damage sponges, the boring skills we've played for 1000 hours before in D2, and the poorly optimized game.

    7) Endgame: What endgame? Endgame is what you get when you finish the story, and it makes you wish you hadn't. The goal here seems to be to max out all the Region Renown so you get the max amount of bonus Skill points the game gives you so you can squeeze out the last 1% bonus to...whatever.

Then all you have left is grind boring Dungeons over and over. And the timed Terror Zones they copy/pasted from D2 remaster and called it "Helltide". Areas on the map marked red, in which enemies drop Cinders you collect to open Loot caches.

Nevermind the fact that Helltide always ends several minutes prematurely - the timed clock is bugged, and you lose all excess Cinders, but the loot is equally subpar.

What's more embarrassing is that a mobile version has a far better endgame than an alleged PC Triple-A.

Conclusion: This is a massive Triple-A flop. They said "it's not meant to be played forever". Well, you got that right, mister. Not even for a month. They had 15+ years of second-hand experience through development & maintenance of Diablo 3 & Immortal, but they learned nothing. Result: a sub-par Diablo that is completely devoid of replayability.

Gear: Gear drops with too many and confusing stats. If your playing an INT based class it's very common to get items that contain DEX or STR. The enchanter in D3 was used to fix these issues, however the enchanter costs are way out of balance and just too expensive.

Confusing item stats: This game has a very simple skill system, so it's not for advanced players like the POE crowd. It makes no sense why they added so many item stats. Stats like close, distance, vulnerable, crowd controlled, etc... It just makes items more likely to randomly generate with stats that are no good to you. The enchanting system might be a fix for this, but as stated above, it's too expensive to be viable. The enchanting system opens as level 20, but is really only for later in the game. Enchanting needs to be viable and balanced for level 20, get new players into enchanting gear from 20-100

World scaling: It's the way to make the game playable with characters of all levels. This means the enemies are always equal or higher level than you. The part of this that doesn't work is the classes and skills are months or years from being balanced. Also if you get bad luck on gear, leveling up makes you weaker, because the world levels up around you.

Now blizzard only makes game to sell microtransactions to little kids by getting them addicted. The game is simpler and simpler going from d2, to d3, to D4. Offline Zelda will give more replayability and excitement than this. In 25 years of diablos since d2, this series has regressed in every way.

    -No trading
-Cannot replay campaign bosses.. wow.. -Zero innovation, d2 classes copy pasted

This game doesn't have a beginning, middle or endgame. You beat the campaign once in 7 hts and go straight into grinding with no change afterwards.

Cool, campaign is done, surely the monster killing starts now, right? Wrong... Have fun running around the world for 4 hours collecting your altars of Lilith... Done, now you can focus on pure monster killing, right? Nope... You need to grind your renown through some of the most boring side quests ever.

There is so much wrong in the game in terms of bugs and minor issues like no stash space, bad mount controls, no map overlay, etc... All of these are fixable issues, but some core design issues include:

    - Non-existent crafting system
    - Knee-deep character customization
    - PC UI that is hilariously bad due to being a console port
    - For an ACTION rpg, there is so little action and so much running around
    - Garbage itemization
    - Their nightmare dungeon system has got to be the most boring ARPG endgame system to ever exist
    - The game gets praised for its gameplay, but the generator generator generator spender gameplay has to go, you spend 80% of your time doing basically nothing but wait for your spender.

And last but not least, the most awful idea in the world of ARPGs, monster scaling... The monsters scale to your level, so if you gain a level, you are often left weaker because the monsters will scale to your level... This goes everything that an ARPG is about

This is not an ARPG... I don't even think it's an MMO, it tried to be both, and it failed miserably at being good in either.

As an ARPG, it's an insult to the ARPG genre. Imagine playing Need for Speed or Forza, but having to stop at a red light every 100 meters. Well, that's exactly how it feels to play D4. From terrible inventory management to tedious travel from point A to point B, and the lack of mob density or unnecessary obstacles, it quickly becomes apparent that it's just an unrewarding experience.

In an attempt to be everything—an MMO, an ARPG, and a captivating story—it falls short. The game lacks a clear focus, and its attempt to incorporate various genres only highlights its deficiencies. Rather than excelling in any one aspect, it disappoints across the board

I've been playing RPGs since the early 90's starting with Ultima Underworld. Played D1/2/3 for decades now. Huge fan of PoE. The 4 days of early access was pretty fun, worth it just to experience and explore a new Diablo world over the weekend. Completed campaign, very painful experience, skipped all the insufferable dialog. Server performance was solid, amazing graphics and wonderful music. Once public launch, servers died and unstable. Now over a week of playing and gaining more knowledge of the game and what it offers, I’ve lost all interest, doing quests and dungeons is just absolutely boring, same garbage over and over. Items are boring, gem mods are boring, everything that made items in D2 great is again completely missing in D4. Diablo doesn't even show up in the game, like what? Character leveling is a drag, no feelings of power improvements, level 1 is the same as level 100, very slow xp gain. Skill tree is very basic (zero build depth), Paragon board is a joke (zero build variety depth). The map world is huge but it looks all the same everywhere, no notable monuments or land features in any part of the world. Very disappointing game in the end. Diablo 4 is a very misleading product, no Diablo in game, plays worse than D3 and D2, Blizzard lied to everyone. Longevity and fun factor are the true measures of a successful ARPG and D4 totally fails at both. I had to downgrade my rating from a 2 to a 0. D4 ís the absolute worst ARPG game of all time. Blizzard makes garbage games now, what a shame. Expand

All game is boring, same skills from beginning, world scaling makes item hunting not fun, you start skipping mobs, every level up doesn't make you more powerful.
Dungeons are soooo dull, repetitive, lots of backtracking. Bosses are just dps sponge. Constant loading screens. Boring events.
Total zero of innovation, everything seems not finished and done better in other games- poor itemization, few item slots, few skills, poor console UI, poor inventory, candy like gems, solo players discrimination and MANY, MANY more...

The long-awaited Diablo 4, last born of the license which laid the foundations of the ARPG genre is out, and after having played well, here is my opinion, which unfortunately will not be positive.

Let's start with the few positives:
    - the graphics are nice
    - animations are smooth
    -the general atmosphere is ok
    - history too, through its campaign.

But a campaign in an ARPG is a negligible point. What really interests us is the endgame, the replayability, and the variety of possible builds to optimize at best and a growing challenge. Here are the focal points of the ARPG genre.

Unfortunately, Blizzard crashes on almost all points.

The endgame: we remain unsatisfied. Few things to do apart from the dungeons (very repetitive, from the layout to the decor, including the bestiary which is not or little renewed). The bosses have basic and simplistic mechanics. Lilith, supposed to be the final boss, is a great joke that you complete in a handful of seconds, without the slightest difficulty. Which brings me to the next point.

The challenge: there is none, let's be clear. I've played for thousands of hours just about every arpg on the market since D2, and D4 is one of the easiest. I played the game completely blind with a homemade build and apart from 2 or 3 moments, everything was horribly simple from start to finish, on max world difficulty. You really have to do it on purpose or get distracted to die in this game. Without difficulty, the game just gets boring.

Replayability : very bad. Too few mechanics to deal with for more than a week, let's be honest. The next seasons have interest to be rich or the game will miss its momentum as D3. And it's not the boring spots that we usually find in MMOs that will save the day: world boss farming, renown, finding statues, useless side quests... All this has nothing to do in an ARPG , it's just sucks.

Class, build, itemization, gameplay: nothing crazy. Classes like paragons are basic. the talent trees are starving and allow very little customization, a shame for an arpg. Big problems in the itemization: a lot of useless stats and unique skills that would have been more interesting to integrate into the talent trees. Scaling (again unwelcome in an arpg) only makes the itemization even more weak.
Gameplay is very slow, artificially slowed down by unskippable dialogues and too much cooldowns. Too little density of monsters on the map to be really satisfying. Too many health potions that make fights unlosable. Too much walking and riding, the open world was perhaps not the best concept for this game. Disappointing past the first half of the game.

You will have understood: spent the first hours of discovery during the campaign to reach the endgame, the feeling of wonder gives way to boredom and repetitiveness. Little to do, fast and easily optimized builds that run smoothly over everything and...that's it?

We expected better from the creator of the genre, and that does not reassure us about the future of the game when we know the new features to come from the competition.

Blizzard will have to announce something big quickly, or the game will meet the same fate as Diablo 3.

    Story + Voice acting: 9/10
    Music: mixed/10
    Game design: -7/10
I have finished the story and 'trying' to progress into tier 4 ___

Every aspect of the game. Has something done to it by that makes you scratch your head that ruins it. Every aspect. Music is undetermined as it sounds great, but BGM for each zone is very short and is very loopy, you notice it very fast in the first main town and it gets annoying FAST. Especially when you get into a dungeon where there is the constant wailing and crying___

    -World Scaling-
Scaling is the worst part of the game. You never feel powerful unless you have an op cookie cutter build. The monsters feel like they get stronger faster than you do. Mob scaling should only ever be in multiplayer, but even then it should be a toggle. OR its own specific world tier aka "World Tier: Infinite"____

    -Skills / Tree-
The skill tree is a stripped twig. There barely any options and barely any skills. Zero build diversity that actually works. Some abilities .. just are not useful from level 1 and never get power or use at all (IE. incinerate)___

    -Paragon-
Feels like the main source of your power. Boring as it is just a grind of levels just to get more powerful rather then picking up a nice piece of gear. T3 felt terrible until you get past your first glyph and blue/yellow nodes. Paragon is also locked at level 50 and above so if you unlocked your 20 paragon levels they are unusable on your alt till 50.___

    -Mounts-
Cooldowns. Why? Mounts get stuck on everything, slow down if your mouse is close to your character and if you click and hold and then slide your mouse over your actions your horse will slowly stop walking even though you never let go of your mouse button.___

    -Inventory-
Inventory is small, especially for consumables and aspects. Need to highlight sigils to see what level they are when they should just be on the icon. Gems need their own tab or to not be the same size as gear. D3 inventory was better.___

    -Loot-
Loot has the worst stats to choose from. Get rid of all the 'close' 'distant' 'vulnerable' give us to normal core stats and crit. There is too much junk. These stats are boring and hard to measure on the fly with each other, especially if you are casual player. ___

    -Gearing-
It's a hassle. Legendries are not better then rares as rares can become legendaries. Therefore you need to spend too much time looking at all the rares to see if it has better stats to then go rather then being salvage fodder. You find a rare that you want to use but it sits in your stash as you don't have the legendary you want to apply it yet. You have to reroll the rare into legendary. You have to upgrade the rare/legendary. You then find something better and have to start the process all over again. Its anxiety inducing and off putting. Not to mention extremely expensive.___

    -Gold-
I have never vendored so many items in a diablo-like game before. Just to barely get gold to keep up with costs. I've had 700k gold and had a repair of 150k. You need to decide if you want to vendor your items, or salvage them.___

    -Casual-bility-
The game is very anti casual. It takes so much time to do anything if you're not op dungeons take forever. Combat takes forever. Gearing up to next world tier takes forever. A casual player that plays an hr a day will not reach the end capstone dungeon before seasons without being carried. They tried to take a system like lost ark where there's a tier you level thru to reach the next and then have to do it all over again. Rather then choosing a difficulty to match your power. Except where list ark has all new zones for the new tier d4 has nothing new except...___

    -Progression-
Gated rewards. Uniques only dropping from t3 and 4? Really? World tier 3 and 4 suck for the average player with the average build. It takes hrs upon hrs upon hrs to reach that point and then even there unique drop rates are abysmal.___

    -Alts-
The only alt friendly thing in the game is the ability to skip campaign if you cleared it, and keeping important renown rewards. Paragon is also locked at level 50 and above so if you unlocked your 20 paragon levels they are unusable on your alt till 50. But not have'n the map uncovered? Not have'n waypoints? Not have'n Lilith alter locations mapped? Once i saw this all i deleted the alt. ___

    -Dungeons-
Dungeons all have a gating system to do some random junk before you can get to the boss for the dungeon clear. Waste time to kill all enemies. Waste time to hunt down specific elites, Waste time to hunt down alters. Waste time searching for multiple items to fetch and retrieve to just open a door. All of which should be changed to non-mandatory bonus events or simply removed. We should be able to just clear our way to the boss. Its exhausting and not fun as every dungeon has one of them.___

    -Transmog-
Only get appearance on salvage. Instead of pickup.___

    -Shop-
    There is one..

When banks fail, those at the top still get a payout as if nothing ever happened. This applies to all sectors, both public and private, and is utterly despicable behavior.

Activision Blizzard has been on a massive losing streak since Activision bought the company back in 2007. They have made failure after failure, starting with Starcraft 2, a beloved franchise that deserved a better fate than it received. While Starcraft was a huge loss, it paled in comparison to the loss that was to come with Diablo 3. Diablo 3 was an absolute dumpster fire that insulted the intelligence of however many of us there are still left who can critically think. Activision knew that Diablo 3 was a bad game, but they also knew that simply calling it 'Diablo' would make the game a financial success. They did not care if the game was a success on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level, they only cared about how many copies were sold. And sell it did. Diablo 3 was a financial success because of it's predecessor, Diablo 2. Diablo 3 went on to sell over 8 million copies (according to them) on the first week of release. What they didn't tell you, however, is how many people requested refunds and how many people quit within the first three months of release. Out of those 8 million copies that sold, only 1 million stayed around for the first six months, and then those number dropped even further to the point that Diablo2 had more of a population than Diablo 3. That is not a success; that is an absolute failure.

Fast forward to the present, and Activision has still not learned any of its lessons from past failures. This is evident with Diablo 4, which has copied the entire UI and everything that was bad about Diablo 3 into its code. Diablo 4 is simply the Diablo 3 that they wanted to make a decade ago, but didn't. They even used the same untalented/worthless Diablo 3 dev team. Diablo 4 is simply Diablo 3 with a new coat of paint. To illustrate how unimaginative these worthless devs are, and how ignorant they are of their own past failures, they fashioned Lilith after Kerrigan from the Starcraft Universe down to almost every detail. Yes, this is true and quite pathetic, and yet they are proud of their plagiarism and lack of innovation anyway. It's almost like they made the game bad on purpose, just to get a negative reaction out of people. I guess they succeeded on that front, because I would not be writing this if it wasn't the case.

Diablo 4 is soulless and empty, and no amount of patches/expansions is ever going to fix that. It is a game made for the braindead masses, very similar to how Star Wars, and anything made by Disney or Netflix, are aimed at those who will never have the capacity for higher reasoning or thought. This game was made for them; it was never meant for those of who can still think.

Diablo 4 is one of the biggest piles of trash I have ever played and I do not recommend it. If you are wanting the Diablo 2 experience, then Path of Exile is the only game in town. Granted, it also has its flaws, but at least it doesn't treat you like an idiot or insult your intelligence like Diablo 4 does.

We need to stop rewarding failure, so that games like Diablo 4, Lost Ark, and all the other crap out there, are never made.

    --Grinding through dungeons
--Running from town to side quests is another time sink
--Dying from random one-shots, just to have to restart whole boss fights
--Even after you get the horse, you have a limited amount of "sprints" you can use, per a cool down, and half the time these sprints don't actually speed your horse up because of whack geometry.
--Cannot sprint with the horse in town.
--Cannot use skills in town, even if those skills are nothing more than regenerating resource for a character.
--Mounts are not available until you're almost done with the game.
--You must complete a laundry list of activities before jumping world tiers, which means you're stuck on the grind just to get to the grind of better gear.
--It takes such an ungodly amount of time to level up to 100 that you aren't likely to stick with it until you can enjoy the build potential that is present.
--It's not enough to acquire an Aspect one time, you can only apply an extracted Aspect once before it's worthless to you. This means you will CONSTANTLY have to farm for the exact same aspect every single time you want to try out a new piece of gear. These Aspects can only drop on certain Legendary items and the Legendary items that can drop them are already exceedingly rare, with no ability to deterministically acquire the stuff you want for any particular build it means getting to the end-game is a total slog AND optimizing your build once you get there is 10x worse.
--Respeccing is ludicrously expensive, as each Paragon point has to be removed 1 by 1 (read: there are 220 of them) and you cannot respec single ability points at once, you in fact have to spend gob-smacking amounts of gold to respec your main character abilities.
--No ability to teleport to Nightmare dungeons, you will end up running to those as well.
--Mobs / bosses have far too much health.

Servers are unplayable every couple of days.
--Lag is atrocious even on days when the game is playable.
--Transitioning map zones will stop you in place and / or outright crash your game
--Rubber banding, even when playing solo instances separated from the over world

Level scaling obliterates the fun in this game.
--Everything gets harder when you level up, not easier.
--Gear you invested in at a lower level is IMMEDIATELY trash compared to the next drop.
--Nothing is good for you until you reach the end-game and there's no ability to power yourself up if you're under-leveled before engaging in new activities.
--There's no gear protection to ensure you get build-appropriate gear as you level up, which only exacerbates how randomized your power curves will be. You could spend 10s of levels with off-spec gear, just because you didn't get the drops you needed and it's too expensive to go out farming for the drops that match your build.

    Anti-social in practice
--There's no suite of products to enable socializing in this game, like a dungeon finder or LFG, and so you have to turn to 3rd party forum boards to enable finding people appropriate to your activity.
--Joining a party scales the world to that party leader, which means joining your friends prior to the completion of the campaign is a non-option. You're not able to join a party with someone and jump to their instance of their world to complete their quest before jumping back to yours to complete a side quest you're on or some other thing appropriate to your world. You would have to restructure the party and have them go through your world to complete content you're working on independently of the content they're working on. It's not at all seamless for anything other than end-game activities.
--I should have the ability to see people inside a dungeon who have toggled it to be public so I can just hop into the dungeon as I pass by it in the over world map, but I cannot do this. I do not have the ability to run a dungeon and make that dungeon public to invite other people into it who are running past it in their version of their over world, I would have to set it all up before hand through a party, which is entirely contrived and anti-social when we have an MMO-styled over world.

    Extremely overpriced
--Playing through the game to level 50 will take you a couple of days. Grinding from 50-100 will take you in the order of magnitude of 100's of hours. Grinding from level 100 to the specific gear required to complete your builds will take you another order of magnitude of 100's of hours. Once you have your builds completed, there will be nothing for you to use it on. The game is an unpurposed, infinite stair case that needed to be so overpriced up front, because Blizzard knows no one would pay a meaningful amount of money to continue playing it past the hype.

Diablo IV is an absolute disaster of a game and a slap in the face to the loyal fans who have supported the franchise for years. The graphics are a complete mess, with muddy textures and uninspired character designs that lack any semblance of creativity or imagination. The story is an insult to the intelligence of gamers, with a paper-thin plot that feels like it was written by a child.

The gameplay is equally disappointing, with repetitive, mind-numbing combat that lacks any sense of challenge or excitement. The RPG elements that made the previous games so engaging have been stripped away in favor of a shallow, loot-driven system that feels like a cheap knockoff of other games in the genre. The addition of microtransactions only serves to highlight the game's greedy and exploitative nature.

In short, Diablo IV is a failure on every level. It's a game that was clearly rushed to market without any care or consideration for the player experience. The developers have completely lost touch with what made the franchise so beloved in the first place and have created a hollow, soulless cash grab that is an insult to the legacy of Diablo.

D4 is cookie dough. Enjoyable for a little bit, but you'll get sick of it quick and wish you left it in the oven instead.

Early game experience is alright when the story is keeping you busy and you're unlocking new skillpoints, but once you reach world tier 3 all you're doing is spamming the same repetitive, uninteresting dungeons ad infinitum. Gameplay or content doesn't really change past the point you enter T3 and there is practically no reason to keep going other than hitting max level and working towards nightmare dungeon level 100 just for the sake of it.

There are "115" dungeons in the game, but in reality there are only like half a dozen different dungeon tilesets, enemy compositions, objectives and jokes of an "end boss", the 115 dungeons are just repeating the same elements from the common pool. Not cool, very boring, and the amount of wandering around looking for all the "destroy 4 piles of garbage" objectives spread around the dungeon map only encourage split clearing to avoid a lot of unnecessary running around and backtracking which makes solo play clearly the worse option to group play (even if you're rarely actually playing together as a group).

Class gameplay is oversimplified, majority of builds essentially have one "important button" and then the rest. Combat isn't very nuanced even for a ARPG and while slaying demons is never not satisfying, D4 combat design seems quite subpar compared to other contemporary ARPGs, or even the previous Diablo game(s). There is satisfying visual feedback with most abilities, be it slamming the ground as a werebear or raining meteors, but the one button gameplay itself gets stale and the combat feel doesn't change much with higher levels or better gear.

Build diversity is lacking, that in combination with the poor state of balance means every class just has THE BUILD to play, and if you're lucky, maybe even an alternative, not quite as good but still borderline viable build. That's it. Paragon boards seem complicated at a glance, but really you just pick and choose which rare, legendary and glyph nodes have the most obvious benefit to your build and map the shortest path through them. PoE buildcrafters need not apply, character builds in this game are extremely streamlined and simplified.

Itemization is uninspired and boring. Gear is flooded with boring +% this or that stats, most of which achieve the same result. As a firewall sorcerer +20% fire damage/pyromancy skill damage/damage to burning enemies/damage to close enemies/damage over time/fire damage over time all do the same exact thing. There are very few actually interesting pieces of gear that noticeably affect your playstyle or have an interesting effect.

The open world is roughly what you'd expect from an open world ARPG. Don't expect much interaction from the open world, it's just there to facilitate all the little side distractions, as well as the story itself and the renown grind - a map completion system, not too dissimilar to Lost ark's adventure tome, albeit a much more lightweight system at that. World bosses are a nice addition, though there are only three of them and their challenge leaves a lot to be desired.

D4 is a technically fairly good looking game and the artstyle is consistent through the game, but it is a little dark, dull, dirty and drab. Most areas are just a different shade of gray mud and dirt and it all starts looking a bit samey after a while with no bright, colorful, clean areas to contrast against which is a bit of a criticism towards the art direction of the game.

UI, UX, QoL are poor. Combing though items is a chore with the tooltip legibility being still quite bad. Inventory management issues are quite serious, with nightmare sigils quickly flooding the shared inventory tab with consumables, gems crowding your bags, and you only have 4 tabs of stash space shared across all your characters on the realm. Vendoring trash rares is your main gold source, so needing to loot everything on your path to fund your gear enchanting and stuff plays into the inventory space issues, as well as adds tedium to the gameplay. Forced enemy snapping is an annoyance for classes that require precise aiming/placement of abilities. Mount gets stuck on everything and feels quite clunky, has a cooldown, is stingy with charge cooldown. No UI customization, can't drag open windows (e.g. linked items) on the screen. Respeccing is a huge gold sink. Can't plan out paragon boards ingame without purchasing points one by one - also can't refund paragon points other than individually. Inconsistent and sometimes misleading wording on what should effect what and which effects interact with each other.

It's not great. Some is lack of polish, some is fundamental problems with the game design. Could be 7/10 after a year or two, but for now I'm shelving the game.

Oh yeah, it has 15€ horse armor DLC.

Bad mix of a singleplayer game with just not fun mmo elements. You can wait hours for a world boss just to get randomly queued with not enough people and your time is completely wasted. Amazing atmosphere and world though.

I was told it was a return to form. It's really just Diablo 3 with more gore. Just a full-on Blizney grind casino designed to be as addictive as possible while having no substance and requiring no skill. They should just make slot machines instead of video games. 3/10 since it is in fact a game. The graphics are high quality despite being so Blizney.

A game with a low-IQ story, uninteresting game mechanics, and ugly characters.
Even Lazarus(D1) and Adria(D3) are much more smart then Inarius(D4) and Lilith(D4).
They maybe want to bring me to a terrifying gothic dark fantasy world, but what I see is non-sense dirty blood and meats.

Good story but very disappointed. Characters look like creeps, skill look as normal hit. I don't feel exciting in combats. There's no change between two environments because of tone graphic. There's no exciting about graphic, or stronger than early game, or character's appearance. I don't have any motivation to play

70 $ for base game, 20 $ extra for early access, 10 $ battlepass and an ingame cash shop for an already 70-90 $ game is absolutely outrageous. Battlepasses and cash shops should be reserved for free to play titles only.

The gameplay is repetitive, and the few new features that have been added feel half-baked and poorly executed.

Moreover, the game seems to have lost its soul and has become a mere shell of its former self. The once-compelling RPG elements have been replaced with shallow, loot-driven mechanics that feel more like an idle clicker than a true Diablo game. The addition of microtransactions only adds insult to injury, making it clear that the developers prioritize profit over creating a fun and engaging experience for their fans.

Overall, Diablo IV is a huge disappointment. It's a sad reminder that even the most beloved franchises can fall from grace when they lose sight of what made them great in the first place.

Don't trust streamers, as they only play for content, not because the game is any good.

    Also, monetization is horrendous.

Why is it called 'Diablo' if Diablo is not in the game?

Animations are lackluster. Looks about the same quality as D2R which is imitating a 23 year old game.

Music is terribly inconsistent with the Diablo franchise, and there's only been one song that actually had a tune you could remember and hum to.

No "Pay to win" according to Blizzard, hopefully this does not change in the future -- however, one of the most interesting parts of the game is obtaining cool looking gear, and when the best looking gear is offered as a shop exclusive, it diminishes the potential for really good looking gear being obtainable by playing the game.

    Gameplay:

I am falling asleep playing. There is almost zero thought going into my actions. Walking through the world is just another chore, there is a complete lack of interest in the open world.

Enemies spawning out of the sky is absolutely terrible. There is no immersion to how anything is spawned, not just visually, but the enemies themselves bear nearly no semblance to the narrative of where they are.

There's no benefit to trying to make your own build. Just go with the cookie cutter, or suffer being absolutely terrible. The game was clearly designed to have only a couple viable builds per class.

It's also boring to have basically the same skills that existed in other Diablo games. Whirlwind Barbarian once again... it doesn't even fit the tone of the game now. They couldn't come up with something more interesting?

There is an incredible lack of variation in how enemies fight. Everything just plops down a pool or a cone attack or a circular attack around them... wow except this one is blood instead of bile. They couldn't learn how to make more interesting mechanics?

Level scaling just makes character progression feel more stagnant.

Dungeon design is boring, repetitive, and monotonous. Making everything a labyrinth and having to backtrack all the time to go the correct direction is not fun. Visually, just because you have a procedural level design does not make it interesting just because that layout is different from another, in fact it is less interesting because you did not visually design it to be interesting. Repeated elements over and over, no focal points, it's just boring to look at very quickly. Not to mention just how drab everything is, you can still have a dark tone without everything literally being desaturated or dark. Please refer to film and other video games that accomplish this well. As it is, it just adds to the sleepy factor.

Multiplayer feels completely untested. It's very easy to miss a cinematic because someone went 10 seconds further ahead. Only one player can look at landscape views. Players can't hear a lot of dialogue only the initiator can hear. Things like time of day or weather not being synchronized.

Lots of additional annoyances, like being ported back to town when logging out in the open world. Why? It doesn't hurt anyone if you log back into where you were.

    Story:

The story is all over the place. Characters get introduced out of nowhere, then they're suddenly dead or something. It feels like they made a lot of different plot ideas, then just plugged them in sequence and called it a day.

The tone is also all over the place. The beginning starts very "artsy", dark horror ala something like The Witch, then it falls off a cliff and we start getting corny World of Warcraft-esque dialogue and cinematics. What happened?

It is hard to believe this game had the writer of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Did the team not know how to implement the story properly into the gameplay experience, or did his writing get stifled? It feels like bullet points slapped together.

Being better than a 23 year old game does not make this a great game. It's clear Blizzard doesn't know how to learn from other companies and only looks at themselves when they design games.

    - There are also many things that seem specifically designed to just keep you in the game longer, like the placement of various important NPCs and events. Walking simulator galore.
    - And don't get me started on the monetization. In a game that already costs a mind-boggling $70 upfront, to have this level of monetization should be criminalized.
    - The two things this game delivers upon are music and art. Not much else, unfortunately.

Don't waste your money and your time. Wait until the game is at least half the price and enough time has passed for it to have maybe left early access. Maybe. Other than that, Activision Blizzard have delivered yet another massive disappointment.

Boring, lifeless, soulless garbage made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. The negative reception is growing FAST and there's a reason for that. Diablo IV is a TERRIBLE arpg.

The resource system is a joke. You cast 2-3 core skills and you are out of resource. The only way to get it back is by finding the right aspects to mitigate it, or use the weak and unsatisfying basic

Itemization is boring. Level scaling is the worst thing in the world if you care at all about progression. Resistances don't do anything!!! Who designed this garbage. As a long time Diablo fan I am so disappointed.

Diablo IV is a travesty. People call this a return to form for the series, that's it's similar to Diablo II. Wrong. The game is Diablo 3 2.0 without the years of patches that made that game good. This is an unfinished game and it sucks!!!!

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
