Has a great campaign but other than that this is a huge let down as a Diablo game. You’re straight up just not rewarded for your hard work. Drops and the endgame in general is just non existent. Zero build variety and no monster density at all. Tedious and boring

This is so repetitive, i cannot find any aspect of the game that feels fresh or encourage me to continue to play. Boring, with huge capital B. I've seen all of that before. Storyline is painfully unengaging, i find myself skipping all dialogues cause i really dont care about them. Combat is so flat, so unrewarding, so repetitive. If that's your first diablo game, you might find that really, seriously really nice. But for everyone with history... just not. Expand

I would rate it maybe 6/10 but have to give 4 to balance these these 10/10 ratings a bit.

My opinion is based on more than 500 hours of play.
    Too much lag and bug.
    No local co-op.
The prices are super exaggerated for lousy cosmetics.
    PvP is useless
Some physics issues and spell with the Necromocian
The only positive point is the atmosphere which goes back to the fundamentals of Diablo 1 and 2.

The random items have bad stats, and I haven't even found a good item yet, even though I'm already at level 71. Rerolls are ridiculously expensive. Nightmare dungeon and affixes are a joke. Diablo Immortal or Path of Exile are much better in every aspect. I enjoyed Diablo Immortal much more than Diablo 4, and I was really looking forward to it. If it weren't for the crazy microtransactions in Immortal, Diablo 4 wouldn't stand a chance. Blizzard, you have disappointed me once again, but this time it's the last straw. While being average isn't bad, the $70 price point is the highest entry point for any other APRG on the market in addition to having an obscenely priced cosmetic shop. The endgame is so flat, even when compared even to ARPGs in early access. There is a lackluster trade system, Blizzard tried to turn D4 into an MMOLyte but, offer the most anti social MMO I have ever experienced.

I really hope seasons can save this game but, with a promising 2nd half of the year for RPG enthusiast and a promising 2024 I'm not excited at all by seasonal content.

It's truly disheartening to witness the culmination of a 23-year attempt of a revival, only to find that a game with a straightforward concept has been redone twice, both attempts resulting in massive failure. The element of itemization and character scaling, unfortunately, stands as a prime example of woefully inadequate game design.

I play a lot of ARPGs and this one just isn't fun for me. I come from a d2/d3/POE/LE background, and found myself playing those for hours on end. For D4, I have no desire to log in and play the game. I wish I didn't spend $70 on this game until they have come out with more content and improved some of the aforementioned issues.

I am hopeful they will improve some of the issues. But in its current state, I could not recommend this game.

Edit: After their first season patch, I no longer have any hope for this game and will change my score to a 1.

The campaign is dull and tedious. They wisely let you skip it after completing it once, but it's honestly so weak that even doing it once is painful.
After the campaign there are some hints of a middling ARPG. This is quickly ruined by all the "innovative" non-ARPG elements. Any enjoyable moment is cut short with some bullcrap non-gameplay like riding your horse

I don't know or care what genre these elements are from but they should't be here.

Then they turned tail, said sorry, and offered some mediocre fixes and a stash tab to make people not hate them. I might have stuck it out a bit longer but then they had the audacity to send out a "survey" asking for player feedback that was heavily focused on pvp/battle royal and what combination of those things and other features would entice you to spend even more money..... MORE MONEY, to unlock in expansions, not season pass features. I called it, this game went the way of Overwatch 2. I hate to say it but Blizzard made EA look like a saint lately. Run as far away from this dumpster fire as you can.

Update 2: Can I give a negative score now? While ARPG ladder/season character resets are standard, not including the rebirth system for characters (allowing characters you already have to reset on seasonal servers to continue playing them) and only 10 character slots (even d3 had 20) is once again going backward in development and another perfect example of blizzard devs not having learned anything in 10 years of community feedback.

Updated review: My 2 is now a 0, here is why:
Now that I have over 100 hours in the game and a lvl 100 character, I see this going the way of overwatch 2. Blizzard is quick to address their issues in the game, and not the player communities, with promises that content will come in months that are simple quality of life updates to bate people to stay (season 2 for a gem tab? ok..) while they are quick to nerf builds and pve content immediately after the early access as if to punish those that didn't pay for the privilege of 3 days playing time. Instead of fixing serious things they think nerfing mob density in EVERY dungeon was top priority Despite all the other problems like bad story writing and over bloated world tasks that are pointless grinds for renound, the one thing that has always made Diablo....Diablo: the insane number of mobs overrunning your character and you killing everything, is being viewed as a bad thing by a developer that pioneered this type of gameplay. This spells doom for anything going forward, as they are not approaching this game as a diablo style game anymore and I doubt development going forward will give us the dungeon crawl we wanted, expect open world map clearing bull@%#$.

An ARPG game should last for hundreds of hours. After a week of playing, I'm already tired of Diablo 4. Only good thing about this game is lore around Lilith and Inarius. Unfortunately, what is most important in this genre, here is very poor designed. Itemization and character development are very shallow. They cannot be easily fixed without rebuilding the entire game. Dungeons are copy paste. So what if there are over 100 of them, since there are far fewer unique types. QoL gives the impression that no one has played this title before the premiere. Inventory management, horse riding, etc. are just terrible. I don't believe Blizzard will fix the game because for many years of development has been unable to identify and correctly implement the absolute fundamentals of the genre. I ordered a preorder and I regret it very much, Blizzard taught me an effective lesson that you must pay for your own stupidity.
Level scaling feels just horrible, your gameplay is the same on level 20 and level 70. Game constantly gives a feeling that no one has played and tested endgame. Renown system is so bad that I don't even wat to do it once, when I am thinking of repeating this in seasons I don't want to play this title at all. I am so disappointed. It feels like they have published totally unfinished game with placeholders instead of real systems. 3/10.

I grinded hundreds of hours in the games before, but this one just isn't fun for me.
    After 6 days already.
There are some points which contribute to this:

#1 The level scaling somehow takes any feeling of progress.
There is a constant mediocre difficulty which does not allow me to progress faster when im good enough equipped or skilled to have a higher risk/reward.

#2 The cap stone dungeon progression.
In the games before you can play the stories and level on a higher difficulty to progress on your pace with the incluence of above mentioned equipment and skill.
Now theres just the boring need to grind at the same slow difficulty to get to the power level to clear the capstone dungeon.

    #3 The leveling progress.
Its just too damn slow, even if i run the recommended best dungeon for grinding with good performance. The quests are not event worth considering because of the laughable xp.
High Xp for Quests would have been a good incentive for me to do all the quests, but if you are questing now you are taking a hard step on the brakes with the leveling progress.

    #4 Region progress
If feels like a requirement to do this because of all the bonuses, but it feels like a drag to complete everything.

    #5 The story ending
It feels unfinished. If they had just slightly teasered any following story and had revealed it after a year i'd ne cool with it, but now it seems unsatisfying.

    #6 The visual theme
The game design is very good and atmospheric but there is no variety.
It wouldn't have hurt to have a few areas or enenies that are colorful, but now everything is bland.

    #7 enemy variety
it feels like there are less types of enemies than in the previous games, but maybe they are just all looking grey and i cant distinguish them.

To stop the rant, there are also positive things in game game. For me those are:
    - The visuals and audio have very high quality
    - The story representation is beautiful
    - Some very interesting beautifully staged boss fights
    - A great open world
    - Interesting quests
    - Technically good working mmo

There are surely many more good points to this game but as it is now i am just very frustrated with it.
Everything just feels so stretched to burn your time.

    10. You don’t get to feel stronger until you hit level 100?? LOL You have to grind for the privilege of feeling stronger. Instead of starting small and getting large, you have to get nowhere for 100 levels and THEN you can get gear that will make you feel strong. hahah
    11. Where is a system in this game that is even half as good as runewords were in D2… there isn’t one!
    12. The story is just some weird blah blah blah. Remember when we cared about saving Deckard Cain? That was pretty cool.
    13. I killed a world boss… what is this world of warcraft??? This isn’t an MMO!!
    14. I ride a horse, so I can skip fighting so I can get to places that I don’t want to get to, so I can finally get into a dungeon. This isn’t skyrim. It’s stupid to put horses in a dungeon crawler.
    15. Did they even take a single risk on anything that is halfway innovative or interesting?
    16. Metacritic is as 50%… okaaay that’s a failure.
    17. You know what is more important than being able to to play with friends at any level? Having a challenging world to fight against. I would trade that for anything right now.
    18. World tiers are just a lame way to makeup for the fact that scaling doesn’t work! So that entire system is by nature a contrived band aid to cover up an even worse problem.
    19. The flow of the game is all wrong… I don’t get the sense of ever deepening horror… they reveal too much too soon as far as evil etc goes. There’s no build up. It’s just PLOP now you’re in some evil dungeon that looks like hell but you aren’t in hell.
    20. Unlocking stuff so that your alt can level faster is just a worse way of "twinking" but without the fun of collecting a cool set like Saigon's from D2... its objectively worse than using set gear.

I could probably keep going but this is painful. What a tiring mess of a game.

Stupid server crashes for hardcore players, a P2W release event "with early access" is fine they want to make money as a service but don't sell me the **** skins at that price being a full price AAA game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well the game started strong but once you finish the campaign and get over the honeymoon phase everything is different. Here are some of my pros and cons for the game

    Pros:

The Campaign is fun but Lilith is a bit overused... Every scene is Lilith did that Lilith comanded that etc,

The music and soundtracks are amazing.

Graphics are good and skills feel smooth to use.

The zones feels unique and fun to explore.

The nostalgia bait is real. I like that you returned characters like Mephisto, Duriel etc.

    Cons:

The late game is boring. There is no point in doing Nightmare dungeons once you level up your glyphs up to 21.

Dungeons are boring there is like 7 dungeons in total the cave, the frozen cave, fort/castle, the tumor demonic cave, and missing 1 or two.. Literally coppy/pasted all over the map. Also the objectives are pointless and just busy work for the sake of busy work once you doo all of the archetypes of dungeons you have done them all.

Renown is boring to farm. Dont lock power in collectable/exploration content. If i have to redo all of the Renown grind again in the season i will just quit the game it was okay to explore the first time but half way done i was already tired

The Paragon board is just plain stupid. Whats the point of having such a big and somewhat confusing branching tree when 90% of the nodes are 5 stats.

Glyphs are overpowered making gear upgrades to feel useless.

Why ugly cosmetics cost 25$ in 70$ game (and yes the game is not worth the 70$ price point)

There is literally no balance in the game 14k life 16k armor and who knows how much dmg reduction and getting one shotted by archer that i dont even see on my screen.

There is to much pointless stats. Whats the point to have 3 - 4 different types of close damage, range damage, core damage etc.. Sometimes simpler is better.

Constant nerfing on everything making classes weak and unbalanced. Instead of nerfing everything start buffing and balance thing.

What is the point of Capstone dungeons when somebody can just carry you. Make it challenge that you have to beat.

Stop trying to appeal to everyone. You cant satisfy every single person in the world. Choose your player base and focus on that... Decide for who is this game made... Casuals, Diablo fans, Hardcore games.... When you try to be liked by everyone you will just bee disliked by everyone. Take for example FromSoftware and their Dark souls series.. For years they make games for their core audience everyone else was crying for, easy mods more accessible etc. But they stick to their core fanbase and fans and in the end they got rewarded with breaking record hit.

Potential con: I know i know they said 5324 times the cash shop will be cosmetics only... But i know i just know in couple of months we will start getting paid stash tab, character slots, exp boosts and who know what else... I paid 100$ i will pay like 100$ more dollars for expansions and yet the game have business model of free to play game.

I am long time Diablo fan and i really hope this game will become good.. The base is here just need a lot more work... Right now if you are Arpg lover and Diablo fan i cannot recommend this game.

    - leveling - after around 50 or so, it takes forever to level. I will probably give up around there
-It feels like the endgame is making sure you dont reach the endgame (level 100) by making it a massive time sink to get there.
-Other endgame activities are dungeons and open world stuff which is essentially D3 style bounties/mini quests and Rifts.
    - There is no global/general chat. No group finder. This is basically a solo player game and it makes the "open" world feel empty and dead.
-lack of class balance - im playing necro and it seems to be one of the weaker classes especially with pets doing little damage.
-There is a lack of stuff to kill. They just nerfed dungeon mob density which is pretty dumb. They should actually do the opposite and buff density so dungeons are packed full of mobs. I want endless armies of hundreds of mobs and elites in every dungeon or open world area to kill.
-Cash shop - uh wtf. I already paid for the game. Why is there micro transactions for this game ?
-Mount gets stopped constantly and feels clunky. Why are there random roadblocks around the map? Its just annoying.
-No saved gear and talent profiles so you have to redo everytime you switch builds. Why does it cost gold to change talents?

I'm forgetting a lot of other stuff.
But overall, the game feels boring and just not fun. It feels like doing endless quests in the open world or empty dungeons.

There is the potential for a great game under all the **** if blizzard actually listen to the fan base and not the casual dad gamers who play for 2 hours a week. But lets face it, the chance of that happening is next to zero, they will almost certainly give it a few seasons and then leave a skeleton dev team on it and let it die just like d3. They've made their money from the initial sales, they don't care now.

Maybe a true cinematics would help between acts... I don't feel anything towards characters. Like I did to Deckard or Tyraell. Just super bad. More like campaign in Korea MMORPG. Most of my friends were skipping all cut scenes and dialogues.

Gameplay: I think skill tree is good but too small. I don't mind skills like +3% to damaging frozen enemies or something. Still better than +20000% to two specific skills set bonuses in D3.
But the game is quite slow. Long cooldowns and small mana pool. If the game was at least challenging you could consider those as tactical elements but currently its just slow. Creatures are boooring and well known. Bosses? While thinging Andariel I thought I am playing linage or something and fighting opoonents toes. No content after story. Nothing to do. Quite grindy.

What I don't get, is why people(developers) try to fix what isn't broken? The stat/skill structure (or gameplay in general) of Diablo 2 for example, was absolutely perfect and could've been used as a template for this game. And how about having Diablo 2 enthusiasts with 100's of hours logged critique the game? We know what the game should feel like and what makes it incredibly re-playable. Perhaps developers "back in the day" used drugs more, allowing themselves to be "more creative?" Who knows.

EDIT: Lowering my review score for the predatory, awful changes the first season introduced.

The biggest, most glaring negative is the level scaling, by far. Each fight feels like an annoyance, because it's not really making you any stronger. It's just slowing you down. Even if you gain a level, so do the monsters. You're really getting relatively weaker as the game goes on. And there are so many random pointless fights as you go from one objective to another.

And those random pointless fights are against the same mobs over and over. There might be some color changes, but that's about it. The environments are more varied, but when you keep running back and forth to do quests all you're really thinking about is the annoying fights you have to deal with. I've thought a few times about trying a different class and I just keep thinking about how little desire I have to slog through all of that again.

The UI is bad and annoying, there's no overlay map so I just keep tabbing the world map open and closed over and over. There's no search for skills or for your inventory. Gotta design everything around console I guess.

Also, the skills are few and full of cooldowns (can't spam my skills like in D2), we are constantly out of mana, and due to a horrible concept of damage buckets, vulnerable is a must for all builds, which severely restricts build diversity.

There's an absolutely huge lack of quality of life in the game. Something inexcusable as Early Access titles such Last Epoch (AWESOME game btw) have it since their EA release... Also, why only 4 stash tabs? You cannot even pay hard earned gold to expand it, what on earth are they thinking? My time is worth more than that (I am tired of having to haul **** around back and forth to the traders/crafters and constantly be out of inventory space).

The open world is nice but there's barely any mob density and sometimes it feels like a walking/riding simulator.

Finally, mob level scaling penalizes you as you level (you never truly become stronger, and in fact lower level characters can carry you instead of you carrying them).

Disclaimer: I'm a veteran from D1, D2, D3 (hated this one), Dungeon Siege, Sacred, Sacred 2, Path of Exile, Last Epoch... I love ARPGs.

EDIT: Lowering the score due to the completely out of touch development team. What a shame of a Season 1 patch... and the worst is that the resistances are still bugged (useless) yet they add items and effects that make use of them! This development team has to be among the worst in the industry...

Each level up turns into a problem because the player needs to think about how to catch up with the momentarily increased power of the monsters.

The monsters are always a few steps ahead and you're catching up. And it’s not easy to catch up, you need to regularly study the descriptions of everything, spend a lot of time studying skills and synergies in order to catch up with monsters that are always ahead in strength.
    This is absurd!

The game turns into build management to just not die from a rat, and this need is constant!

Auto level kills the most basic mechanics of the RPG genre, level up to move further. Here you lvl up to lvl up, it makes no sense.

    tl;dr:
No. Either believe me or read my reasoning.

    - None of the central features of the game are really used to improve gameplay. Any feature or mechanic that is introduced feels like a letdown and mounts up to frustration.
    - The game is built around the idea to feel like an MMO. Yet, there is hardly any social interaction and social interaction is not encouraged. There is no content for groups that requires any engagement whatsoever. You can run into certain events (World Bosses, Legions) and meet people. Yet the difficulty scales to the point where you don't need to engage the other players to work together. They are just there. Where the casual MMO rewards group play and social interaction by providing challenging but rewarding content. Diablo 4 doesn't.
    - Group play is rewarding and fine, but that doesn't require the MMO elements of the game. That worked fine in Diablo 1.
    - This comes at a cost, the optimization of the netcode (of a company that created one of the longest running MMOs in the market) is subpar. Stuttering, loading areas that lead to lag (still there is rubberbanding). The game doesn't play nice when the server is obviously under stress (confirmed that with friends in different regions). All that given that the know-how should be available, the ressources to do it should be there, I see no fix any time soon.
    - PvP Zones are empty and a win or loose all situation, when you encounter someone else. Still it does not matter since zones remain mostly empty. Farming the items on a lower world tier is just a grind.
    - While the tone is consistent, it doesn't lead anywhere. The storytelling, without going into spoilers, feels rushed from a storyteller perspective. Loose ends are adressed in the worst way possible to quickly be done with side characters and plot points in the end. If feels painful to watch certain character decisions. Even when information is blatantly available, characters act like Dora trying to find her backpack.
    - Of the ARPGs I played (Diablo 1-4, Grim Dawn, Titan Quest) this is the game with the worst "power fantasy". Certain skills are only viable with certain especially rare items, some skills simply aren't good. In the sense that it feels tedious to use them, not from an optimized harcore game point of view. While I understand that balancing requires that player power feels earned and varied. Never feeling powerful with certain skills is not the point of playing a game.
    - Item-Management feels tedious and unrewarding, finding good loot requires slogging through loads of other items useless items. So much so that the joy of finding something good is completely void. The UI here provides no support what so ever. Searching specific stats on items is something games provided years ago. Grim Dawn allows you to determine the stats and rarities you care about to be sorted before you even actually see the item dropping.
    - Not even the riding feature feels fun or rewarding. The horse is available late in the game and feels not properly tested. Getting dismounted from combat (which can happen just by lag) leads to a 30 second cooldown on the horse. The horse also gets stuck a lot on collision, overall riding doesn't always feel like a good choice even when clearly the player is supposed to ride.
    - The game is supposed to launch with a stable endgame with live service in mind, it feels with the artifical difficulty implemented in leveling (overall too much emphasis on the leveling phase, collectible grind on new characters) like the developers are afraid of people reaching endgame. No wonder, the first level 100 hardcore barbarian died to lag.

The average Metascore of 87 at the moment is brought down in my eyes by: new features that lead nowhere, an UI and gameplay loop that feels tedious, unrewarding (and frankly out of touch compared to releases years ago), with technical difficulties I personally see no hope in them being solved, a story that is luckwarm and lackluster (this is not an excuse for any genre, people told good stories with phantomines before. Figure it out, the services of a good writer are cheaper than a yacht for your executive.) that puts the game down to 3 out 10 for me.

A very terrible game, I did not expect this from Blizzard. A cool PR campaign, which in fact deceives gullible buyers who think they are buying a continuation of the Diablo game series.

    no!

There is nothing similar except for the game trailer for this game with Diablo.

    — Ugly interface
    — An incomprehensible fight with monsters, the style of the game
    — It is unclear why such a large amount of information is needed from the very beginning
    — Permanent inscriptions on the screen that are constantly being spammed
    — I don't understand why I need such a big chest at the very beginning, I want to develop the game and the character, and not get everything at once
    — Tons of extra information
    — Raising the level remained unclear
    — Why would a Necromancer need 4 skeletons at 1 level at once? But what about the development of the game, the character, and so on, as it has always been?
    — Empty locations
    — Boring mobs

Based on everything I've seen, this game is by no means a continuation of the Diablo series, it's some kind of mutant who wants to be Diablo.

I do not advise anyone to buy this game if you are a Diablo fan.

Instead we will have the endgame trickle in every 3 months. I will rereview the actual game when it is complete in a few years, but right now its pretty trash.

The game's horrible gameplay and shameless in-game monetization practices have left me feeling betrayed and disillusioned.
    Abysmal Gameplay Mechanics

The core gameplay in Diablo 4 is a far cry from the engaging and addictive experiences we had in previous installments. The combat system feels clunky and unresponsive, making even the most basic encounters feel like a chore. The skill trees and character progression have been severely dumbed down, offering little in the way of meaningful choices or customization.

Enemy AI is laughably bad, with foes either standing still and waiting to be hit or mindlessly rushing toward the player with no regard for tactics or self-preservation. This lack of challenge and variety makes for a dull, monotonous experience that quickly grows tiresome.

But truly, the ingame monetization is despicable; baiting players to buy in-game items is greedy and insulting. Do not buy this game unless you want a lackluster experience combined with a buy more now complex.

    - MMO-lite: when I play solo, I don't want to see other players on my screen, especially when they are doing the same quest than me. If I want to play a MMO, I play WoW, for example.
    Some pros:
    - Nice graphics and animations
    - Many mini-dungeons.
    Some cons:
    - No runes
    - No item sets
Update 08/10: now changing rating from 3 to 1, mostly because of nerfing patches that does not fix the main issues. The remaining point is for the good work of the artists.

The dev's don't like you, and they don't like fun
I have finished the campaign, and have checked out several of the characters
The game's graphics are relatively good. Props to the artists paid by Blizzard
That is the only positive thing
Diablo is traditionally a hack and slash game, however, 75% of the time there is very little to hack or slash. Very low mob density, and sometimes you can go for minutes just running through barren landscapes and huge empty corridors not killing anything, because there's not even anything there.
Not sure if this is on purpose to drag out the playtime, but it is the most mind numbing gaming experience I have had this year
They allow you to have a horse in the 4th act, that's two thirds into the game already, it takes this long for seemingly no reason, the guy that gives it to you is in the very first city. It's just that in the 4th act, you meet someone who is mates with the stable guy, so he's like "yeah, grab a horse, why not".
So on-top of the slog that is exploring the world the combat is a massive slog too, the way enemies level to your level, means that relative damage wise a level 6 character will be significantly more powerful than a level 45 character when it comes to fighting enemies in the starting area. For example, as a level 6 druid you will with no gear be able to use an ability to 1 hit an entire pack, almost regardless of what's in it. To do this to the exact same pack (that have now level'd to match your exact level) at level 45 you would need specific gear, upgrades and synergies.
This means until you find a way to become OP, every time you level up, your hero's power becomes more lame. It feels bad.
Ironically the game's story is quite diabolical. Once you get to hell in the game, you feel like you might actually be going through hell in real life as well
It seems like maybe the amount of combat was so pathetic because they tried to make it a role playing game, but unfortunately that fell flat, into a fire probably.
Flaming garbage, for the most part, you're wondering why the hell the characters are making these decisions, why does it seem like we're about to be offered a meaningful choice but not really, why are we on an ayahuasca trip in a swamp(twice), why does it seem like we are a side character, is this written by chat GPT, is this actually a scooby-doo RPG, and why do we fight some dude called Elias 5 times?
So until you get to the end-game, it's barely hack and slash, and it's a horrendous excuse for an RPG.
My most charitable take on why it’s so slow, is that they wanted you to take the time to stare at the good graphics. This was a bad idea, made worse by the mind numbing repetition of assets layouts and “dungeon” biomes in general. The game “boasts more than a 100 dungeons” really, there are like 5, and then copy paste that, nice job.
I played the whole story co-op as well, which is a feature I feel they didn't test properly. Very often, when my co-op buddy spoke to an NPC for a quest, that NPC would go invisible for me...great...so I miss out on that. I missed out on two of the games biggest cut-scenes. On-top of this, even when NPC's don't go invisible, if I interact with the NPC first, and go through the quest conversation, if mine ends before it does for my buddy, the conversation then sometimes ends for him as well even though he hasn't finished reading (same vice versa).
    Well done.
You can't right click and teleport directly to a player in your party like you could in Diablo 3. You can however teleport to town, and then teleport to the player from a portal that is always there, this is free except it costs your IRL time.
    Thanks.
Stability was ok for the most part, except it kicked me out three times when I tried to watch the main battle cut-scene towards the end, and then blocked me from logging in for a couple of minutes because I had tried to log in too many consecutive times.
Makes sense, kick me out, and then block me for trying to get back in.
    Cheers.
The people that came up with the shop system in this game need to have a word with themselves.
The gear they sell is for the most part entirely useless, and yet somehow they still put a 5000% price mark-up on items (yes, literally, not exaggerating). They will sell a normal (white item) for 3x more than they will buy a unique, let alone legendary. What is the point?
Worse than this, if you think you can go around the dozens of shops throughout this pointless open world looking for an item with a specific roll, think again. For some astounding reason every single armor vendor across the continent sells the exact same like 5 items.
    Makes sense right?
Thinking of re-rolling gear? Good on you well, let me tell ya unless you've been selling loads of stuff as opposed to breaking it down
30k for the first time I re-rolled something not bad
    Second re-roll 120k!
2 more re-rolls or so and it's more than 300K to try again.
    Save your money IRL.

Game feels like a First Try ARPG from a small indie dev. It has more problems than not problems. Another disgrace to the Diablo franchise.

User Interface - Why is there no search bar, for anything? - When Shift Click to split a stack, why can't I hit "3" on my numpad to enter "3" into the field? Why do I have to use my mouse to click the "up" or "down" arrow to increment the size?

    - Really, 4 stasah tabs? They need to be 4 times larger and we need to be able to buy as many as we can afford. Make them go up to 10 million a piece for all I care. We NEED more stash room.
    - Why can;t I hide the keybinds on my hotbar? It's so ugly and goofy looking.
    - No numeric display of life/mana?
    - No Character Centered quick hud for Life/Mana?
    - No Debuff list? What is slowing me? Why am I taking damage over time? What's this stun? How long am I going to be frozen for? etc.
    - No minimap overlay. This is honestly huge. I do not like staring at the red line on the minimap while traversing.
    - No "Right Click -> Portal to Party Member" .... seriously?
    - "Cannot join party during portal".... ????

    Dungeons
    - 90% of them are just a chore. No, I don't want to run around back and forth searching for the last Roped up Prisoner that I missed, or going halfway back across the map to loot the You Can Proceed Item to put in the Timegate Lock. It's awful. Dungeon design is awful. These aren't dungeons, they're chores. Let me go into an area and blast. That's it. That is what dungeons should be. Massive hoards of the forces of hell that we need to lay waste to en masse.

    - Input Delay? Lag? Hit Spacebar to dodge, still get stunned/frozen/etc, and then after the CC breaks you use your dodge...?
    - WAY too much CC and WAY too many "Dodge hte swirlies" - overall dungeons are not fun. They are just aggravating. If your build doesn't have 2-3 cc remove/unstoppable abilities it's just not viable.
    - Monster Variety is non existent. There are like 15 enemy types in this game and they're all generic rips from Diablo 2.

    "Item Rerolling/Upgrading"

    - Unable to see possible outcomes (I mean come on this is LITERALLY IN diablo 3 like what???1one??1!)
    - Unable to see roll variance. You get a "3.2%" crit chance on the ring. Is that a "1.2-3.4" high roll or a "3.0-5.8" low roll?
    - Too expensive to reroll gear. It's completely unreasonable. It should be 1/10th the current cost.

    SKill Tree

    - Too small.
    - No choice.
    - Obvious build paths that are designed to implicitly work together...
    - It's almost entirely "illusion of choice"
    - It's not a skill tree, it's a skill twig.
    - Item Aspects need to be on the SKILL TREE not on items.
    - Paragon Board is awful.
    - Paragon board needs to have TONS more boards to choose from.
    - Let us make our own boards. Pick our own nodes. Pick our own glyphs, etc.
    - Glyph Slots are garbage. You need to level the glyph up before it even activates for 90% of them, and their mostly useless otherwise. 2.7% damage to chilled enemies for 7 paragon points? Literally more efficient to just go for 7 +5 Int nodes.
    - Paragon system needs a compelte overhaul to be quite honest here. There are no redeeming qualities or factors. It's just an arbitrary "do more damage" system. There's nothing interesting, build enabling/defining/etc at all. Whoever was spreading these lies should hang their head in shame for the next 10 years.

    Gear/Itemization

    - It's beyond bland and boring. Stack Crit/Crit/Vuln. Get Life on Head/Chest/Pants/Rings. That's it. Or, if you're a dot build, go for "Only Relevant Damage Modifier For This Build Type" instead of C/C/V.
    - 4 Affixes is far too few for a single item to have. Should be at least 5, or 6 if you removed aspects from gear (which you won't because they're just like consumable soulbind glpyhs from WoW - which you did scrap that HORRIBLE idea thank GOD).
    - The mod pool is WAY too bloated.
    - There are no interesting mods or spec altering mods.
    - Where are the damage mods for weapons? Where is the +128% increased Physical Damage + 47% attack Speed stuff? It's all just generic garbage. Other

    - The story is laughably bad. - Level Scaling ruins the entire game. Full stop. - Open World has unplayable amounts of lag, constant rubberbanding, etc. It's just ridiculous - Horse is the dumbest, worst horse I have ever seen. Why does it just not move some times? Randomly gets stuck on a small pebble and stops...?? I'd really like to go into more depth and offer solutions, but I only have 5000 character limit here. The game is aggressively mediocre in every way. It does nothing great, and does most things poorly. The old Blizzard I knew and loved growing up is dead and gone.

Average slasher with average story. Graphic are nice but could have been better. Feel a lot like Lost Ark without Korean twist. Even the shop is here. In the 70eur game... And the worst thing is the game is quite boring after a while of playing.

This game is ....literally EVERYTHING that was horrible with DIABLO 3, dusted, regurgitated and turned to 11. No feedback has been taken into account from veteran D1 and D2 LoD players AT ALL.
POWER comes again FROM ITEMS (not skills and investment in them)
IDIOTIC modifiers on certain skills available on items
    NO RUNES
    NO TRADE
    NO PVP

Which dumbass at Blizzard made this decision? Robbing the players of their reward in a grinding game??????

One other problem is that when you play Tier 4 the money you need to experiment with builds and to modify items is insanely high.

The density of monsters in the open world is so low that most of the time i leave them right behind, even in Helltide...

After the campaign, the game kind of falls apart. The campaign is good (6.5/10), but I can't see myself playing through it again soon, because I already know all the dialog. The progression systems, character development are really lackluster. The game also feels unfinished (skill trees, itemization, cutscenes always showing the characters from behind after the first 1 or 2...).

Nothing to chase. Nothing to do. Worse than d3 [ at least d3 has some fresh ideas, d4 is just retaking them]. Don't waste your money. The only "endgame" that game has is literally a joke. I wouldn't even call such a thing dungeons. Not to mention "originality".

The music and sound design are both fantastic, but that's about where the praise ends.
The gameplay is the same snoozefest that Diablo 3 was. Boring spam skills that you use to keep yourself busy while your other skills come off their insanely long cool downs. The absolute worst game design for an ARPG, yet blizzard insists on being as stubborn as ever with this approach. Path of Exile

I'm not impressed by "open world" games that are open world for the sake of being open world, and I don't think this type of game benefits from that. Sure you get things like world bosses, but ultimately the ARPG is best played with smaller groups in instanced areas, not like an MMO.

I could go on for hours about why this game is a complete failure, but honestly those two reasons are enough for me to consider it one of the biggest disappointments of this year. Just wait for PoE2.

Huge disappointment and I regret for ever hoping that this can be a good Diablo game.
Shallow slow game with close to 0 fun. Focus on making money, not a happy player base. It get close to Diablo Immortal with every Patch. Don't buy it, don't try it. It has such a low rating for a reason!

The campaign is a walking simulator, the bosses are forgettable, and the plot is unenjoyable at the end.

The main elements of an arpg are character progression and loot. This game makes both of those things unenjoyable. I dreaded progression because I knew monsters would be absorbing more damage, and my items would become more obsolete every time I grinded to a new level. I approached this game with an open mind. I wanted to accept it for what it is and not be attached to the mechanics of other classic Diablo games. Unfortunately the game, on its own, is just a very bad player experience.

    - the most of contents are for low level characters
    - not enough mobs in most of dungeons (i don't feel like hacking and slashing at all except for two dungeons)
    - need some differentiation for high level of nightmare dungeons ex items, exp or so
this makes users to feel not necessary to try high level of nightmare dungeons
-no contents due to lack of unique items variety.
-cooldown for riding horse and there are skeleton walls kind of things on the way which is annoying a lot

At the time of writing this review, I've been playing for almost 110 hours, and here's my review:

At the time of writing this review, I've been playing for almost 110 hours, and here's my review:

    1. Character Creation:
It is very bad, much worse than in Diablo Immortal (mobile game), not comperable to Lost Ark. Blizzard has praised the character creation system in interviews and each class has the same options for everything - hair, tattoos, makeup, eye color, hair color, skin color (there is a plus, the game here is very diverse), ending up with no character fantasy. It just looks LAZY.
Also It seems like someone was pushing for body positivity, and I'm all about it. That being said, necro is anorexic, mage, rogue are average, barbarian is muscular and druid is just obese, they promotes an unhealthy lifestyle and believe me, I am obese because of my condition and it's not a good life. It can promote unhealthy habits in the minds of young people. Give every class like 3-5 bodytypes to chose from if you care about body positivity, dont force players to play character they dont enjoy visually.

    3. History:
Act 1: There are some good moments, like meeting characters from previous Diablos, but it's just boring.

Act 2: I think it's even more linier and boring than Act 1.

Act 3: Something starts to happen here, but it's still not very engaging.

Act 4: At this point I felt they just wanted to make a longer story and put in something that didn't make sense.

Act 5: This act is a bit better, more interesting, but extended in a very stiff and artificial way.

Act 6: Okay here comes the story finally in act 6 this is amazing the cinematic is one of the best ever made

All in all, the story could be much better, it's long and boring for the most part, but it's a bang at the end. There are only 2 cinematics in the whole game and they are really the best, the cutscenes are made on the game engine that includes the player character, I would prefer maybe one cutscene per act to summarize what happened.

    3. Character progression:
Many classes only have one meta build for now, I'm aware the game has been out for over a week but keep in mind it has been in development for many, many, many years. Druids summons are totaly useless, 0 dmg- Go Bearform or go home, all Wizzard build include 4 same skills and 2 that are flexible, Rogue ranged build deal 10% DMG of melee builds

The skill system can be brilliant after some improvements, but you have so few points to spend that it's rather limiting.
Some passives are just rediculus like +3 spirit for druid +3 mana for wizards and you can't just not add at least 1 point to them because there's another useful passive right behind it.

Paragons are interesting, it bring fresh air in to character development, can looks complicated, but if you will learn how to work with it (not taking so long) itspretty straight forward.

    Itemization:
I think it's good for now, legends are interesting, gems are more interesting than id diablo 3, armor and weapons look cool. I'm still debating if there is not to many iteam tiers.
I hope they never add sets because it will destroy everything.

    Summary:
Charactercreation is handicapped and lazily made.
Story from act 1 till 5 is boring.
Skill tree can be good if improved
Paragons are good start for future better character buildcraft.
Graphics are stunning, game is beautifull.
Servers are bad, and very laggy.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
