This 1.1 patch overall was a good change and the individuals who are mad about it are individuals who were abusing builds that were obviously going to get nerfed, because why “WOULDN’T” they nerf something that does more than TRILLIONS of damage in a hit.

If you’re playing the game and not relying on builds that were clearly a problem you actually have more of a fighting chance now for just playing the game like a game.

Sigh.. i want to provide an honest review but it’s not like it matters nobody is going to read this and if they do wether you like the game or not the only people you’re going to listen to is your favorite content creators.

If and after you do spend all this time grinding - far more than what's reasonable, especially if you want to try other classes...you're rewarded with a fun end game loop? Nope. More grinding for gear that has perfect rolls and the right combo of affixes. This isn't unlike any other game like this, but it's much slower.

Unique items in the game? Nope. They're pointless and don't drop often or you get the really useless ones a bunch of times.

Re-rolling gear affixes? You may find out you get offered the same one but with a lower roll. Or you may get to choose from the same affix twice (wasted enchant).

It's just an epic waste of time really. For no reward. You get nothing for all the time invested. They didn't finish their end game content. You can stop playing after level 80 or so.

Such a wasted opportunity. They had momentum too. They threw it all away. Well, maybe they can fix it. Check back in a few months or a year.

Played the game, liked it. Devs are now forcing you to participate in their seasons mechanic and try to get you to buy a $20 battle pass for a game that already cost you $70 when you just bought it.

The end game is boring too, I don't understand how the critic reviews made it sound like there was so much to do.

On top of that, the latest patch just nerfed my build to the ground. They don't have an easy way to respect paragon points, it's such a hassle I think I'm just going to give it up at this point. Baldurs Gate is just around the corner, maybe I'll try Diablo again in a few months if ever.

Diablo 4 began as a fun game. I paid $70 for it, full price, $70 for a game in a genre that's actually well-saturated with F2P titles that do EVERYTHING correctly.

I still paid $70. I had fun for a while, but seeing how it's turning around lately, there's less and less hope. They treat this expensive ARPG worse than any other team would treat their F2P game. We still have a cash shop,

I still paid $70. I had fun for a while, but seeing how it's turning around lately, there's less and less hope. They treat this expensive ARPG worse than any other team would treat their F2P game. We still have a cash shop, we still have paid seasons, we had to pay for the game itself, yet they destroy it.

I paid for a premium ARPG experience, yet they give you the worst treatment possible. The latest season patch, I repeat, a SEASON PATCH, nerfed everything about the classes. They destroyed the already bad sorcerer class, they destroyed important stats, just to make progress slower so you can "enjoy more content". They did NOT add QoL updates, they did NOT add the performance fixes they mentioned, they did NOT fix any problems the whole community talked about, they literally did.. nothing.

They ignored all the simplest of wishes, they added no quality, no reason to play this game anymore, they only made everything that already existed way way worse. As silly as it sounds. And they called it a season patch. The patch that every ARPG releases with TONS of content.

So did they release content? Yes, they added a few unique items with literally no reason to exist, some so buggy that they teleport you into the ground. Anything else? Yes, new affixes with no reason to exist, they're just there to slow your item-chasing down, because new useless affixes mean that you have to search for longer, as the stat-pool is now larger with useless stats.

This game has a nice story, and it's fun to level from 50 to 60. After that, you're done. There is no endgame in this ARPG, as silly as it sounds. And the new season patch made the non-existent endgame even slower, more useless, and just bad.

An ARPG game should last for hundreds of hours. After a week of playing, I'm already tired of Diablo 4. Only good thing about this game is lore around Lilith and Inarius. Unfortunately, what is most important in this genre, here is very poor designed. Itemization and character development are very shallow. They cannot be easily fixed without rebuilding the entire game. Dungeons are copy paste. So what if there are over 100 of them, since there are far fewer unique types. QoL gives the impression that no one has played this title before the premiere. Inventory management, horse riding, etc. are just terrible. I don't believe Blizzard will fix the game because for many years of development has been unable to identify and correctly implement the absolute fundamentals of the genre. I ordered a preorder and I regret it very much, Blizzard taught me an effective lesson that you must pay for your own stupidity.
Level scaling feels just horrible, your gameplay is the same on level 20 and level 70. Game constantly gives a feeling that no one has played and tested endgame. Renown system is so bad that I don't even wat to do it once, when I am thinking of repeating this in seasons I don't want to play this title at all. I am so disappointed. It feels like they have published totally unfinished game with placeholders instead of real systems. 3/10.

The game, due to the changes made in Patch 1.10, is now incredibly slow and a total slog. Leveling was slowed down DRAMATICALLY and the speed at which your character can progress was nerfed into the ground.

You will spend as much time looking at loading screens and waiting on your cooldowns to recharge as you will spend fighting monsters. The game is FILLED with bugs and some of the most game-breaking ones aren't slated to be fixed for another 4-6 months.

Inventory is garbage, loot is garbage from lvl 70 on. NO COW LEVEL? come on. Season 1 patch is destroying everything fun that was left.

Diablo 4 is a great blend of D2 & D3. Combat is engaging and fun, and the game and sound design are top notch. It's definitely still a young game that is figuring out balancing and end game content, but I'm confident it will be the best installment in the series yet.

It feebly attempts to incorporate aspects from your cookie cutter MMORPG from the last 20 years however all of that falls flat. Its easy to imagine during this games development, they must have had a list of buzzwords on a whiteboard(MMO, Open world, 100 unique dungeons, etc.) that the team must have felt beholden to, then those buzzwords eventually make it into the final product but only on a technicality, none of it feeling organic, belonging or even fully incorporated.

Sinking time into this game, chasing any semblance of joy while drowning in sunk cost fallacy will only leave you with a bitter aftertaste you wish you never had.

The game runs out of steam even before you reach max level, which is where a good ARPG should just be getting started.

The recent patch was quite a let down as well. The heavy-handed nerfs are the least of the problems with the game right now actually. The itemization system is boring and unrewarding. Drops are not exciting at all. In fact, drops have zero value until you teleport back to town and sort through countless lines of text to determine if anything is of use. That's like a casino where, instead of getting a payout at slot machine when you hit, you instead get a token that you have to take to the main desk to find out if it's worth anything. It's not exciting.

The game does get a few things right, however. The sound design is amazing. Playing through the campaign was enjoyable. The NPCs are well-acted, especially those you encounter through the main story. However, your character's voice lines are weird and out of place at times.

I expect this game to get better over time with multiple patch cycles and a lot of development that, hopefully, will actually incorporate some of the feedback from the community. In its present state, however, there are much better games to spend your money on. If you're looking to sink some time into some great ARPGs, check out PoE (well worth the time it takes to learn its systems), Grim Dawn, or even Last Epoch, although that one needs quite a bit of time to cook as well.

Leading up to this week, I was told that the first season would give us characters that are "broken" and that set my expectations for the patch to increase the enjoyment of the game. After logging into the new patch, my enjoyment has entirely fallen off. The quality of life changes we asked for were ignored, the character power buffs we were hoping for to bring up less used builds were ignored, and the player power we had has been stripped. Blizzard has an opportunity to salvage this, but unless they make some major changes quickly, I can't see myself continuing to play this game nor do I think this game is worth the emotional investment of waiting for it to become playable. With a single patch, Diablo 4 became Diablo Immortal. Blizzard sold us the game we wanted and then modified it into the game their company wants us to play. Only the paid players will succeed and anyone who thought the $70 was already too much, will be forced to grind the same boring content until they shut down the servers in Season 2.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
