Blizzard killed the game whit the 1.1 patch. Theres not much to say realy , there are 1000 threads about this abysmal patch.Either rerroll back to the game before the patch or apply a new patch that fixes this patch. Any case game is garbage now

Most of the characters are ugly with maybe ONE single option for each class that looks decent, Transmogs are rampant and just trash. Then we come to the items......the itemization is probably the worst in any diablo game so far and that what make the grind in this game pointless, the loot simply blows. D4 is a joke...the end of a once great franchise and absolutely not worth your time.

I played Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and now Diablo 4. I have to say, coming from a long history of playing the Diablo series, blizzard has literally crucified Diablo 4. When they dropped this current patch on the 18th of July, it just totally destroyed the game completely. At the current state of Diablo IV after this patch, any game out there is better than Diablo 4....

Diablo is about the search for better and better gear to build your power to more quickly find even better gears. It's the dopamine of glowing items dropping. D4 does not have this... the gear is water downed, the progressive is awkward. The game is bad - under baked and not played by the dev team. Don't buy, I was scammed by Blizzard.

Played the heck out of Diablo 1, 2, and 3. In Diablo 3 I had 500+ hours last time I even bothered checking. Made it to level 66 or so in Diablo 4 before it became just an absolute boring slog. Not a terrible game in the grand scheme of things if you are satisfied with a few dozen hours of play time....but end game is awful and once you beat the campaign there isn't much point in playing. Definitely the worst of the Diablo series so far. Frankly I should probably rate this lower but I suspect end game will be improved in a few months... whereas with Battlefield 2042 there was never any hope ;-) Expand

I've been a player of Diablo games on and off for 20 years or so. This latest iteration of the franchise cost me $100 for the top tier package.

    1. The game offers (for me) about 1 month of content. Replay value is minimal for various reasons explained below.

    2. The grind to max level is long and brutally repetitive. Repeating the same actions over and over for minimal results is not fun.

    3. End-game content is minimal. Once a character is max level, the game becomes a garbage man simulator. You pick up the trash, you take the trash to the dump. Repeat ad infinitum.

    4. Certain items, "Uniques", some of which are necessary for a particular class or build to reach maximum potential, are essentially unobtainable without devoting huge amounts of time to the same boring and repetitive grind. If you have a full time job, or a family, or any other commitments which may preclude devoting vast quantities of time to farming the same content over and over, you might as well forget about it.

    5. My experience, typically, over many years of playing various games, is that the longer you play the game and the more time you spend working on your character, the better and more powerful it becomes. That is NOT the case with Diablo 4. This is not a fault with the game itself, but rather the developer. You can have a perfectly built character, and in a single stroke, with one patch, your ability and power is gone. What you could do yesterday you cannot do today. What was easy yesterday is hard today. What worked yesterday does not work today. What used to be good is now bad. What used to be bad is still bad. The time you spent to build your character has been wasted. These heavy-handed and arbitrary changes can happen at any time, and for any reason, or for no reason whatsoever. Your character is worse today than it was yesterday through absolutely no fault or error of your own.

In short, the game is very grind-oriented with minimal end-game content and the very high possibility that any work you do will be negated with the next patch. Essentially, it's a less rewarding job that you don't get paid for. it's a working-in-corporate-America simulator. Anyone who enjoys working as a middle management drone for a large corporation will probably enjoy Diablo 4. Most of the elements are there: the soul-crushing grind for little reward, the long hours sitting at a computer, completely arbitrary changes in corporate policy with no warning or explanation, the unobtainable rewards, the stress, the family problems, the hopelessness, the "voluntary" corporate events that you really have to go to if you want to stay competitive, etc. The only things missing are the mediocre paycheck and health insurance. Instead, you have to pay for the experience.

One of the first major red flags was the devs completely disabling certain aspects because, ultimately, the game is just severely unfinished and most definitely untested. These actions made certain characters unplayable. That was over a month ago, and it's been a worsening **** show since.

There is no possible way this game was worked on consistently for 10 years and probably not even 5.

    1. Some of the worst patches of all time, the devs are making the game worse in many areas and show a lack of listening to the community. 2. 3. Lack of end game content. There are 2 bosses in endgame currently. Why not re-use some campaign bosses as endgame bosses in the meantime while you create more new bosses for the game? The loot they drop is terrible... make them have a higher chance of dropping uber uniques so people have a reason to replay these bosses more than once per character. We cant trade uniques and seasons only last 3 months so who does it hurt if a player got one of these? Whats the harm?

    4. 'Uber uniques'... I understand the carrot on a stick helps arpg games last longer but there is no carrot when the chances of getting one are rarer than winning a large sum in the lottery.
I would love to see one of these items at somepoint in my life.

    5. Scaling is very bad. At the endgame, there is a sudden extreme incline in difficulty. Nightmare level 100 and uber lilith are so far ahead of anything below, it makes for a very poor difficulty curve.

There are many more gripes with the game but these are the main points of issue.

I liked the story and the gameplay feels good but there are so many issues with the game right now so i have to give it a low review.

I even bought a 2nd copy because the D4 stash is too small even after I created mules - I wanted to play 3 different classes and there's no way the stash plus all the rest mules is enough.

But the recent patch 1.1 gave me the wakening call that the team running this game will never fix it, nor making it good. Because what they think the game should be is totally different from the user base. The addressed 0 issues raised by the user base, including stash space, resistance doesn't work, sorc unplayable end game because all the mobs can one-shot you. etc. etc. Sorc was a powerful class in Beta which caps at lv 25, so they simply nerfed the popular skill Hydra by 60%, and a few others skills which can reduce cool down. The user base complained. Sorc could only run the frost build. Devs in the fireside chat said they listened, and they had this long list of patch note prepared. Everyone was looking forward to the patch note, everyone assumed sorc can be fixed. Ha! Can you imagine they nerf sorc, and especially hydra even more? They didn't mention this in the patch notes, but they changed the lucky hit rate of hydra from 53% (cast based) to 2.5% (hit based). Ice blade 71% to 5%. Yes it's a huge nerf because the conj stills won't hit that many times (especially ice blade, so clumsy).

They nerfed all classes. Why, why??? Because they don't have other ways to engage players. Instead they make it harder to pass the game, so we are forced to stay longer, and they may make money in this.

Or, perhaps they've already got our money, and they just choose the most annoying changes so we don't stay, no pressure to their server, and they can use the money to develop WoW - btw the D4 feels like WoW which I don't like.

You won't find the Diablo game you like in D4. It's frustrating, repetitive, and I don't feel their team has good decision makers. It's unbelievable they'd do this unless, really, they want to push us away so their server maintenance cost is lower.

At the time writing this review, here are the issues:
    1. No real end game; Only Nightmare Dungeons, Echo of Lilith and PvP to fill the entirety from 50 to 100.
    2. Nightmare Dungeons with no competitive features and stale bosses. No leader board, dungeon's end boss is often times much easier than the rest of the dungeon.
    3. Lack of attention from the developers with gear. Over 95% of the unique gear you receive is complete garbage due to its stats being useless for its intended build. (Gohr's with attack speed???)
    4. Trigger happy nerfs. Instead of buffing the weaker classes, the developer chose to nerf the better classes.
    5. No respect for the players' time. With Season 1 drawing closer, the developer's idea of fixing the lack of end game, is to make everything that are needed to be done take longer. Lesser mob density, lesser experience gained, lesser damage etc. Having to take longer to do the same thing in the pre-season is simply appealing.

Diablo IV at its current iteration is not worth the purchase. You might want to check back after Microsoft has a better handle on Blizzard.

So, things now take longer, reward less, and appear to have but a single design gial in mind: Delay everything so that Activision can artificially inflate their aytime metrics. Instead of accomplishing this by making an enjoyable game that people want to play, they make every activity take longer and actively hotfix anything that people find to make the game enjoyable. They actually increased the channel time to leave a dungeon when it is finished...

To quote an almost perfect synopsis of the most recent patch:

"This is an ACTION RPG with slow paced action. It's a LOOT hunter with boring loot. This is an MMO with no social aspects. A dungeon crawler that feels more like a game of fetch the stones and put them on the pedestals." https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/153hzqg/what_blizzard_doesnt_understand/ Collapse

Possibly I missed some but looking through my entire inventory every 10-15 minutes for stupidly small upgrades before selling or dismantling them got boring incredibly fast. I would have to check 4 stats on every item, check which is BiS for the build, compare to my current gear, figure out if I can reroll one stat to make it better etc. Most of the time when you can reroll a stat, you get 3-4 attempts and don't get anything good then it costs 1 million+ gold to continue rerolling so you just scrap it.

I had pushed to lv96 before the season 1 update and was somewhat still enjoying it for short bursts of play but since the update my character has become laughably weak. I could push nightmare dungeons 20ish levels above my character as a whirlwind barbarian (not anywhere near as high as other classes could) and now I'm struggling to manage 5 levels above without dying multiple times.

The story was good and the CGI scenes were amazing but if I was given the choice of going back before I spent 70 quid on this, given the direction it is heading, I would not buy it again.

And that slow pace kinda eclipse all the good stuff in this game, because the art direction, the writing, even the impressive open world technology is good. I'll even say that the class design is really fun.. with a lot of builds if they were playable at high level of course.

But the fact that the end part is so slow, so expensive when you want to change your build (because of the nice idea that the enchanting cost should be exponential, for some reason), means that you usually don't want to grind to infinity and beyond.

And when the grind becomes a bad thing in a diablo like where it's usually core, that really means they push way too far on this.
