Core systems do not work, complete lack of endgame, "difficulty" is avoiding stuff on the floor, builder/spender system is awful and not fun, etc. Zero innovation.. they even had PoE as a reference point for what's become the ARPG standard and they massively underdelivered. PoE 2 will kill this game dead in its tracks

The Story is really good. Voice action also. Thats already it!

D1 and D2 was gold. Spent endless hours farming to reach Lvl 99.

The funny thing now is when i think about I even liked D3 more than D4 and thats really sad.

Diablo IV, the latest installment in this iconic series, has been far from the triumphant continuation many fans, myself included, hoped for. The game, which was once a beacon of fun and immersive gameplay, has, regrettably, devolved into a dreary, lackluster experience.

It's clear that a significant shift in development philosophy has taken place at Blizzard, and unfortunately, Diablo IV has borne the brunt of this drastic change. The game, once accessible and engrossing, has become overwhelmingly tedious due to a plethora of unwelcome changes made before the onset of Season 1.

Most jarringly, the experience gain has been dramatically curtailed, slowing the game down to a snail's pace and making it difficult for casual players to keep up. It seems that Blizzard, in an attempt to artificially extend the game's lifespan, has forgotten the core elements that once made Diablo a joy to play: the exhilarating thrill of leveling up, the intoxicating rush of discovering a new area, the sheer satisfaction of acquiring a coveted piece of loot.

In spite of the backlash, Blizzard has chosen to double down on these detrimental changes, rejecting the pleas of their player base. They have chosen to distract players with band-aid solutions rather than addressing the root issues that have stripped the game of its fun.

Moreover, Diablo IV is plagued by persistent quality-of-life issues that have long overstayed their welcome. The game, though a new addition to the franchise, is the fourth iteration of a well-established series. It's baffling how these basic issues were not resolved prior to development. Blizzard, with its vast experience and resources, should have foreseen and rectified these glaring deficiencies before even coding the game.

The most disheartening aspect of Diablo IV, however, lies in Blizzard's overarching business strategy. It's clear that the company, along with the development team's leadership, is pushing the game down a detrimental path. The strategic choices made for Diablo IV show a significant lack of understanding about what made the previous games successful and enjoyable.

Sadly, some players are in denial, holding on to the hope that Diablo IV can somehow live up to its illustrious lineage. But the truth is hard to ignore - Diablo IV is no longer the thrilling, captivating game we once eagerly anticipated. Instead, it's a clear testament to how a misguided development direction can lead a once-legendary franchise astray.

In closing, Diablo IV is a glaring misstep for Blizzard, a far cry from the vibrant, compelling gameplay that fans of the franchise have come to love and expect. Until the company reevaluates its strategy and listens to its players, it's hard to imagine the game regaining its former glory.

The lack of player experience features, a shallow season, and meaningful endgame overshadow the smooth game play and detailed graphics.

Pros: Best part about the game is the graphics of the environments; their artists did an amazing job. The campaign was good with an enjoyable story and included some very well done cut-scenes. Character combat is smooth. Cons: User experience:

Pros: Best part about the game is the graphics of the environments; their artists did an amazing job. The campaign was good with an enjoyable story and included some very well done cut-scenes. Character combat is smooth.

    Cons:
    User experience:
Item stat filter in the stash and backpack tabs. A player has to manually look through every aspect in their stash to find the one they are looking for.
Loot filter. The player has to manually look at every item when selling it.
Lack of stash tab space. Alts share this tab space. I can't roll an alt because I don't have room. Blizzard already learned the IMPORTANCE OF ALTS in WoW dragonflight...how was this mistake made!
Respec paragon is done point by point. Over 200 Paragon points to manually click through for a full reset.
Character teleports outside of the Nightmare dungeon instead of inside of it. This is an extra loading screen for no apparent reason.
Horse is slow without the boost charges. It gets caught on everything. Barriers block the horse.
Game breaking bugs. I can't obtain the season item required to summon the big baddy. Blizzards response was sorry we can't do anything, but the devs are looking into it. 3 weeks later still not fixed.

    Game features:
Tedious farm of renown makes new characters tedious again did Blizzard not learn from WoW Dragonflight and how important alts are.
There is no way to effectively trade items.
Uber uniques are virtually unobtainable and since there is no trade there is no way to work toward them.
Mob density is low in nightmare dungeons.
There is little reason to go into the massive and beautiful open world other than helltides.
Loot doesn't feel "Epic" after level 60. Upgrades are mostly minor stat upgrades.
The RNG of some aspects and uniques lead to cases were build defining items may never be found even all the way to level 100, and there is no way to trade for them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Awesome looking game with almost no content to speak of. Main campain and story is somewhat ok, but there are literally no middle, or endgame activities just the dungeons and the tree quests. Feel of power and progress is subpar. Levelling is slow and extremely boring. Game mechanics are unfun and punishing. The loot is subpar, there is nothing noteworthy to grind for. The developers are disconnected from the community. Overall bad game design. The whole game is a big cash grab. In its current state it's not recommended. The old Blizzard is really dead now! The IP is beyond saving. Expand

    Audio 10/10
    As always.

    Cinematics 10/10
Easily the best part of the game when combined with the audio and the pretty graphics.

    Story 6/10
Same **** different color. That said, I really enjoyed the cinematics and they help really drive the story home. A higher score would be given if they really broke the mold here.

    Combat 0/10
Uninspired is the best I can put it. You will NOT get your God-fix here.

    Gameplay 3/10
Combat is boring AF and the rest... is just there for you to grind. While I am okay with this, it is just a bunch of tasks and collectibles and rarely add to the story or offer any fun game mechanics. I'd kill for some minigames or puzzle at this point, but we got Alters of Lilith instead.

Looting is also awful as most items that drop are completely useless with conflicting attributes for any synergy and Blizzard accomplished this by adding more attributes and just letting RNG ruin everything.

Quests were actually fun and enrich the story and experience.

    Social 1/10
It's supposed to feel like an MMO and it does this well. I love endless hack-n-slash dungeon crawlers with the ability to push the limits and go a little deeper each time to gain just a little power. But Diablo IV is now an MMO with endless tasks (not quests) to do and it feel less like a dungeon crawler.

    Graphics 8/10
Pretty but definitely just high-res Diablo stuff which is underwhelming. I'm also removing points for investing so much into the skins and horses meanwhile using said horse will cause massive lag.

    Technical 0/10
This is me being petty because the horses are lag factories & every time I find something I like about the game they patch it out. Favorite dungeon? Gone. Favorite skill? Nerfed. Favorite Attribute? Nerfed. Favorite boss fight? Reduced rewards. I know they gave that whole, "We'll never make a game altering mechanic like vulnerability again" speech, but I don't trust them.

    The good:
    Graphics
Gameplay/Combat the smoothness of it(Except the horse, the horse feels... well special)
Story was pretty decent, since most Arpgs are not really story driven.
    cutscenes were amazing.

    The bad
    Itemization
    Stash
    Stats
    Paragon board
    Horse
    Skill tree
    endgame
No trading, well there is rare trading, but who the hell really does that? gotta be the minority

Feels so bad to have a game that removes any kind of chances to fail and only wants you to succeed.
If there is no way to fail, why should successes ever feel great?
And with them praising the amount of customization option you have, it sure feels limiting and hand held.
At no point in my play-through both in none season and in season did i feel unique and special, at no point did i feel like i found an item which made me go "oh my god, i want to switch build or create a new class to try this out."

I guess this is just how it is these days with most studios, they develop with money in mind, instead of creating a masterpiece, that will still generate lots of money and most importantly, make them popular, which makes people eager to see their next big thing.
Blizzard sure has been on a downwards trend since activision brought them.

Diablo 2 expanded on some things, added some other things, and it was an even better game, improving the formula of the first one. Diablo 3 was dumpster fire all the way till the reaper of souls, when it continued to be a dumpster, but somehow blizzard put out the fire... it stinks less but its still garbage.

Diablo 4 only has 2 things from the original games, the diablo look and feel that's about it. It looks like diablo, sounds like diablo but it doesnt play like diablo in any way. The excess of sufixes, the crap loot, the bad storage, the rubber banding, the bad patches, the boring and repetitive WE, the crap dungeons that are always the "same".

The dungeons are always about one of these things, and are divided in two halfs, in which you have to do the same crap all over and over game. It's always a mix of something like: slay all enemies open a door that was sealed, then get some crapy items ( 1 or 2, or even 3 or 4 ) to unseal another door ( among other things like free 6 prisioners or whatever, etc. Its always a random 2 things to do on every dungeon, repetitve, boring and unfulfilling.

The paragon points and hability points system are bad, but it could be worse i guess.

For a game that the main focus is item looting, the lack of decent storage, the non stackable hearts for the current season that just fill out the very limited storage its just appaling... how the heck did they think this would be ok?

So basicly diablo 4 is a empty husk of a game and, and tbh i had already decided that this would be the last game i would spend money on from blizzard, unless it proved me wrong by actually being a good game, which it isnt.

If like me, youre looking for a good rpg to play, look somewhere else, diablo 4 is not worth anyones money, and honestly, i dont like to pay to be a beta tester, because thats what everyone playing diablo 4 is, do not make the same mistake i did and many others, and stay away from blizzard, since they are killing their franchises left and right just to line up their pockets with your hard earned cash.

Act 1 story feels disjointed and isnt exciting at all, having to collect renown doesn't belong here in Diablo either. The statues are meh, really more of a distraction. All the defenders say the game gets good at endgame, I don't play endgame in Diablo, seasons dont do it for me. I enjoyed D3's campaign enough to go through it on all classes and it had seasons. For $120 the game should be good from the moment I create my first character. They charge a premium for the game and then try and lure you into micro transactions with xmogs and season passes. For me, Blizzard has gone from company that used to output great high quality games that you knew were going to be good to a business that wants to harvest as much coin off of their decade's old player base. Sorry Blizz but if you want to keep you loyal players, go back to the old way of making games. Games that have substance and not microtransactions, back to having actual engaging story to make the character feel invested, not the so far predictable drivel that is in D4. Go back to designing games and story in the way that built your loyal player base, but I fear that you are too far gone. Expand

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
