    This was once a decent franchise but like so many others its fallen by the wayside.

    My key criticism of this game is it in a sense "plays itself". Your choices are to a good degree made for you from the get go and worse still, its skill tree, is an overly complex mess I simply found confusing.     Combat was bad too with opponents who all seemed to be expert shots inflicting massive damage and horrible weapons that seemed to take forever to reload.

    On the upside its pretty but its play ability is very very limited. My advice take a look at "The Outer Worlds" instead.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay is incredibly fun and the various builds on the characters provide plenty of different ways to play the game, which is great. Even though the 1 billion guns that the engine is capable of really only translates to a few hundred guns that actually feel different to use, there is still tons to explore and try out. On the higher mayhem modes, certain areas can still provide at least some challenge, although some builds can make the entire game relatively easy. Some parts of the game were a little buggy at times, for me, but it was nothing major ever. Some mechanics can be a bit frustrating, and there are times when you can go through a bit of a gun drought in the main story, and you just feel a bit weak, but overall, it gives a great feeling of your character being powerful for most of the main story. The main problem with the game is the story and writing in general. The characters they chose from the past games to use for the main story of this one are simply the least compelling and likable ones the writers could have possibly picked. WThat makes this even worse, is that characters who have already been developed and who are interesting and beloved like Brick, Mordecai, and Tina take a backseat to a new addition Ava, who makes me want to headbutt a belt sander. Additionally, new additions Clay and Lorelei, although quite benign presences, fill up spots where we could have gotten to see vault hunters from Borderlands 2. The Calypso twins are a definite step down from Handsome Jack as far as how they serve as villains, but I did not find them nearly as irritating as being left out of any scenes involving them. Several cutscenes with key plot points go down in the same area your character just fought a boss, yet you are nowhere to be seen. The writers try really hard to make us think of Lillith as a fearless leader, and Ava as a strong but misunderstood and angsty teen, but it all feels very forced and none of it works. Please stop having Lillith calling us "killer" and saying "sup." "Sup" is not a catchphrase, and it's reminicent of what I thought seemed cool when I was in 7th grade and wore hoodies in 80 degree weather. Ava is just whiny and annoying, and she did nothing to redeem her character from her blunder which got Maya killed. That whole part made no sense also. How come when Tyreen absorbs Lillith's powers it takes like 15 seconds and she doesn't die, and when she takes the life force out of people those husks are left over, but when Troy touches Maya's arm for like 2 seconds, she just disintegrates??? Maya's death is supposed to be some sort of emothional catalyst for the events of the game and should have served to push Ava's character forward, but neither of those things happened. All that happened was that a character that we liked from Borderlands 2 is now gone so that a worse new character can take her spot. Apparently Gearbox hired four writers for this game which is up from one writer in the first two games. That's pretty pathetic considering Borderlands 1 had a better story, and I'm still not entirely sure what happened in it. Rather than spending all of their time trying to force certain characters down our throats, they should have used characters they knew were liked and focused their attention on making better villains and writing jokes that were a bit more nuanced that "shoot him in the dick."… Expand

    Do not, i mean do not buy this game.. This game has more bugs than skyrim had at its launch. Every other achievement is bugged, it crashes constantly. I cant finish circles of slaughter because the game crashes and i lose all of my progress for that quest. I've put over 50hrs into this game and about 5 of those hours i was online looking for bug fixes. If there were no bugs i would give itDo not, i mean do not buy this game..     BORDERLANDS series best looter shooter game ever created (during writing this review). yeah guns guns GUNS tons of guns, all this colored numerous of damage, all this guns type,all this boss battle - that why i like this game. only one thing that upset me - kinda boring middle part of the game. but as i say    so as usual just finished and wanna say couple words about this game. as for me

Quizá sea entonces un problema solamente mío, pero aunque estéticamente es atractivo, a la hora de jugarlo los colores del contexto y de los enemigos me parecen una pésima elección. Lo mismo me pasa con las armas, que son super guay pero tienen que tener un símbolo al lado para poder diferenciar una escopeta de un lanzacohetes. Quizá sea entonces un problema solamente mío, pero aunque estéticamente es atractivo, a la hora de jugarlo los colores del contexto y de los enemigos me parecen una pésima elección.     Прошёл пару раз BL1, более 500 часов в BL2 и BL TPS, и получил огромное удовольствие от уважительного отношения к миру и персонажам серии BL в Tales from the Bordlerlands, и это при том, что её делала совершенно другая студия.
    Ничто не предвещало беды и я как и все мы ждал BL3... дождался.
    Мнение на основании 60 часов игры. -Никогда ранее юмор в серии BL не был сортирного уровня    Прошёл пару раз BL1, более 500 часов в BL2 и BL TPS, и получил огромное удовольствие от уважительного отношения к миру и персонажам серии BL в Tales from the Bordlerlands, и это при том, что её делала совершенно другая студия.
    Ничто не предвещало беды и я как и все мы ждал BL3... дождался.
    Мнение на основании 60 часов игры.

    -Никогда ранее юмор в серии BL не был сортирного уровня (члены, жопы, говно и тд), много криков. По подаче шуток я бы сравнил BL2 с сериалом Community. После шуток предыдущих частей над юмором BL3 хочется рыдать.
    -Сценарий крайне слаб и бессвязен. Авторы сами, кажется, не смогли себе объяснить что такое хранилища, что из себя представляют Сирены и тд.. куда делся Страж из концовки BL TPS? Понимание психологии на столь низком уровне, что сценаристы решили, что лучший способ сделать так, чтоб игрок почувствовал грандиозность всех этих хранилищ это показать как люди становятся богами, пожирают планеты и тд... т.е ушли в абстракцию, по отношению к которой проблематично или почти невозможно испытывать какие бы то ни было эмоции.
    -Персонажи-антагонисты картонные. На их месте даже Гектор, Накаяма, Капитан Скарлет, Зарпедон, Филисити смотрелись уместнее. А Гектор и Зарпедон так вообще на голову выше. А про Джека я вообще молчу.
    -Персонажи-протагонисты точно такой же мёртвый картон. Будто разговор двух носков, надетых на руки, но разными голосами, карикатурно выпячивая особенности характера и строя на этих карикатурах юмор. Живыми они не воспринимаются. Их решения лишены логики. Как жертвы, разбредающиеся по углам в средненьком фильме ужасов.
    -Сценаристы не умеют создавать драму. "Драматические" моменты угадываются за несколько часов до их происшествия. Подводки к ним будто из фильмов категории B, настолько они шаблонны. Не умеешь правильно подготовить почву, а затем убить - не берись за сценарий. То, что должно вызывать сопереживание вызывает раздражение от спущенных в унитаз персонажей и возможностей.

    То, что из себя представляет BL3 указывает на то, что её делали люди крайне далёкие по менталитету от тех, кому я благодарен за предыдущие части, или её делали люди, которых поставили в жёсткие рамки капиталисты, желающие состричь бабла, охватить аудиторию по шире, рисковать поменьше, и оставаться BL только визуально, чтоб заманивать фанатов.

    Overall I think it’s a fun experience and worth checking out if you're a fan of the series or if you’re just interested in general. It’s got some really engaging looter shooter gameplay, some good esthetics and a few good jokes in between some unfortunate balancing issues, boring characters, and cringy writing. Id say its a "good" game, that will take about 30-40 hours to complete and forOverall I think it’s a fun experience and worth checking out if you're a fan of the series or if you’re just interested in general. It’s got some really engaging looter shooter gameplay, some good esthetics and a few good jokes in between some unfortunate balancing issues, boring characters, and cringy writing.     Well, I Hve mixed feelings for this one, but gameplay wise it was a vlast. Story.. Oh well bad and good at the same time. Antagonists are just iritating, companions are alright but hilarious. I hoped that there will be something more about weapons, like modifications or so which would be new to franchise. But still, it was Very good one.

    Enjoyed all the previous games and played them in TVHM except the first.
    Main story seems longer but not funny, just more dramatic. it sucks really, worst so far (IMO best was presequel).
    Gameplay is fine just like before, only we can climb borders and that's it. Plenty of QoL changes.
    Larger and more vertical maps.
    Won't play again as I dislike how the story turned out.

I've paid 260PLN (60 eur) and its worth every penny. I've played 45h so far and not bored. The only problem is performance/optimizations.     Gameplay is great, mechanics is better than in previous titles. Environments are shockingly complex and huge, sometimes I wonder how long this game was in production... (3 yrs?).

    The only problem is performance/optimizations. You need at least RTX 2070 to play with high settings - and for this title its a must - you should be able to appreciate world around.    … Expand

    *The UI. Remember the useful and easy to use ECHO from BL2? Forget it existed. It's gone. They replaced it with this useless new ECHO. For some reason the Tabs have been removed so now you have to use IKJL to switch menus and TAB (the usual shortcut for the ECHO) is now "open last menu". *The whole Hype over different planets    Dull, copy paste experience with a slight Texture upgrade.

    *The whole Hype over different planets which the devs made it seem like it's a big thing... is nothing more than just another instance. No different than the DLCs from BL2. In fact this entire game feels like a Map Pack for BL2.

    *Main Villains. Every time they pop up. I get motivated to do a murder suicide. Maybe that was the point? But the most annoying part is. These 2 brats get to ... not gonna say any spoilers but they get to Outperform Handsome Jack. The nerve.

    *Literally the only thing this game has "new" or "fun" is the new characters and a new Skin selection menu that allows you to customize your colors. Everything else. Including the monsters... is a reskin.

    *But hey... at least they added 9999 guns right? 90% of which are completely useless because they all feel the same just with different skins.
    There are the usual 5 gun types and Each gun type has at most 3 different variants. It's either Raw, Elemental or has an Effect. Some of them also have unique sub categories. Rocket launchers can be grenade launchers, saw launcher or flamethrowers. Sounds great right? It isn't.
    Out of all those guns, you will only use about 5%.

    *And now... the BIGGEST f*** drawback of this game. Horrible programming. out of 12 Main Missions, 12 of them got stuck.
    I was able to pass 11 of them using clipping or "turning it off and on again", But the 12th mission couldn't get unstuck no matter what.
    Tried everything. Even made a NEW character. Deleted my old saves.
    Re-installed the entire game.
    Still got stuck at the exact same place with only a minor variation.
    Every god damn mission i have to ALT TAB and go to some forum to find a fix.
    Not a single god damn properly programmed Mission Trigger.
    F*** this game. Borderlands 76 is it's real name.    … Expand

    I just got the game and they must have worked out all of the bugs. It plays great and its a ton of fun. The graphics are good and the gameplay is good. If you did not get the game then try it now because it is a good game and more Borderlands.

    Absolutely terrible story due to bad writing, plain and simple. It's unbearable. Humor and story are the worst written parts of a game I've ever heard. That along with a terrible port, hard crashing more than 12 times in 24 hours of game play is unacceptable

    Really long and frustrating and dull game with bad teen "sci"-fi unentertaining plot with primitive gamedesign such as "here a side-quest, go to location you wiped while doing plot mission so we can use one boring place twice!" with really few fun-to-play episodes.
    Two words about graphics: unamusing and unoptimized.

    The Tyreen is a **** Joke Compare to Handsome Jack
    Graphics - too much celshading/particle effects with more disorientation and too many Lags
    Class Balancing - Its complete Broken again
    Endgame - Absolutly boring compare to BL2

    It makes not really better compare to BL2 and the bad release with lags and bugs makes it much worse, it feels like an Early Access Game

    With dialogues volume turned to 0 and every time a cut-scene is happening leaving computer to do other better things like going for a drink this game is surprisingly fun.
    Story is demented, characters retarded but if completely ignored it is a good game. I remember having similar fun in 1st Borderlands.
    After several months it is not as buggy as it was in the beginning.

    Amazing game, better than the previous chapters. Very enjoyable and long story. Weapons are fantastic, as always. Very well done and optimized graphic. Some bugs during bosses.
    I'm wainting for borderlands 4 ;)

    Again too many women. Playing borderlands after the Outer Worlds and i have seen all these before. The another planet, the ship, the crew... and the Women. Omg really? 5 only for the gameplay.

    El juego es muy bueno pero como que le falta más daño, eh estado 2:43 horas tratando de matar un Boss y no puedo estar tanto tiempo ya que necesito hacer otras cosas más importantes que estar jugando Borderlands 3 pero definitivamente está muy bueno.

    This game had great potential but it was ruined by 3 major issues: Lots of frame drops and crashes, doesn't get a launch release on one of the most popular PC stores (Steam) and employs bad humor filled with fulfilling the casual SJW/political agenda of genders.

    First this game rewards you for doing challenges but because of them you get a more levels so you're over leveled and loot you get in next zones is low level so you end up just buying loot from Sanctuary vendors which isn't fun.     Poor performance, mediocre mechanics, guns don't feel impactful, enemies are ok but generally not very interesting, the "story" and characters are incredibly annoying and cringy, the UI is bad. I enjoy the co-op aspect, mainly because it's one of the few co-op shooter games out there, but it feels incomplete and dated.

    I'm not sure if I'm simply older or if the times have changed, but I also didn't find the jokes as funny as one would expect.
    The villains were bad and not only because they were annoying, but because they had no evolution at all. From the beginning of the story to the end, they remained the same egoistical, shallow and obnoxious ****
    The other new characters weren't that interesting either, with the exception of Balex (his voice was cool, I have to admit it).
    What I hated the most, however, was the treatment they reserved for Rhys and Vaughn. The former has become a shadow of his old self, with no personality and completely wrong proportions (please, confront the BL3 model with the TFTBL model. Gearbox, that's not how humans work); and the latter is a walking cringe fest. To be honest, a lot of this game is cringeworthy.
    Now to the bugs. Do you remember Fallout New Vegas? Imagine that, but with cel shading.
    A few examples of what you should expect: characters disappearing, getting stuck in trees, losing your items, being unable to progress because NPCs won't talk to you, frame rate drops, being unable to change the settings, shaking screen, falling through the map…
    The only good thing about Borderlands 3 is the shooting, but even then there are other games that offer the same thing with fewer issues.    … Expand

    Haven't really had any technical issues but the game is about 75% less fun than the first two and while there are a ton of guns almost all of them are useless with the only good guns coming from cheating and using the golden keys over and over and over and over until your eyes are bloody.

    I find I can only play in spurts of an hour or so before I get completely bored or frustrated and have to give it a rest.

    Unfortunately, I am too far in for a refund.

    Avoid unless you are a masochist.

Besides of that, the combat pacing compared to the older borderlands is really slow. Matchmaking overall seems not to work properly, after 5 hours of public campain host, nobody ever joined my game.     Ok. so I bought borderlands 3 knowing that it had some meh reviews, but when I entered the game I was amazed by the graphics and the style of the game and I just wanted to say that this game is a masterpiece and that I didn't experience any bugs and I didn't have any lag issues
    So my conclusion is, buy the game.Please!It's super fun!

NO shields to have you survive longer. NO real reason to go back and play some more. This game lacks any redeemable features aside from the gunplay. And the Vault bosses.     You may or may not like the humour, the story or whatever, but that's Borderlands, the real one. Honestly, it's like an upgraded version of Borderlands 2 ... When i see people putting a 2/10 to the game and saying "they were big fans of old Borderlands game", that's **** Maybe you prefered Borderlands 2/1 or Pre-Sequel, but if you loved the old games you can't dislike this one ...

    Now for the tricky part.

    What's wrong with the game ?

    - The story and the antagonists, they are not as great as the Handsome Jack was (but how could they be ? Jack was absolutely perfect)
    - I thought the game less funny than Pre-Sequel. They are taking themselves too seriously at some point, they should go 100% into humour, honeslty.
    - There is too many bad legendary weapons
    - The Chaos mode is awfully balanced
    - There is no "specific boss-loot" wich pushes you to farm the same boss over and over because it's more worth it
    - Not enough exploitation of the secondary characters, because of that we can't care about them
    - Some lags (but it gets better and better)

    | Let's just say that most of what i said before was annouced to be worked on by the developers (excepted the story)

    Sincerly, i really want to point out the main hypocrisy of some people around here. After an epic fail from gearbox (battleborn) and five years of developement, they finally bring us what we wanted. A complete game without in-game purchased (excepted from the 4 DLC), just a fun game to play alone or with ur friends. You may not like the atmosphere of Borderlands, that's true, it's particular. The humour will be funny for some and boring for the others. But you can't tell that this game was made only for money or crap like that.
    The day we will be getting just those **** games like ghost recon breakpoint, we'll see who's gonna lough.

    Final point here : if you like Borderlands atmosphere, humour and what comes with it, go ahead, you won't regret it. If you have never played a Borerlands game before, i would recommand you getting Borderlands The Handsome Collection on steam before (5$) and if you enjoy it, go ahead with Borderlands 3.    … Expand

    As far as the bugs go there are so many I cannot list them all.

    The frame rate for me was fine but the constant crashes, insanely long load times, clipping through the map, getting stuck constantly in walls/objects, and not being able to continue due to errors in the game when you kill certain enemies that should let you continue a quest line but....don't.

    The 2 main enemies are tripe trash that are supposedly like you tube bloggers or twitch streamers.
    if they are they make current day streamers look like real gods lol. With no clear goals and somehow able to get untold masses to follow them through the dumbest Streams ever they make me with handsome jack somehow could come back and the main villain for the third time in a game just so I would have someone interesting and fun to fight against.

    Zane is great, because he is not a good guy, and Vault Hunters are supposed to be more Chaotic Neutral and not protectors of the weak.
    The previous Borderlands had awesome female characters, my favorite being Lilith, but in Borderlands 3, the female characters seemed to have been sacrificed for the cause of SJWness.
    Thankfully making Fl4k "Non-binary" appears to be an afterthought, and he is pretty much a he.
    Btw, robots can't be non-binary, because they run off of binary programming.

    Not to mention, the fact they have the ending song singing "That girl is on FIrrREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    I'll ask again, whatever happened to being a badass?
    If I wanted this touchy feely stuff I woulda watched the notebook.

That the end boss is ridiculously easy to beat is just the icing on the cake of bad game design here.

    Only redeeming element is Ice-T, but doesn't save this mess of a game.

    Liked Borderlands 1, but this series has lost its heart a long time ago. BL is in desperate need of a reboot...    … Expand

    Borderlands 3 ... my impressions

    - visuals .. they are more detailed and complex than Borderlands 2 HD.. yes. But the style prohibits more realism or detail. So ... it does not really look significantly better ... at all. The world still feels very very empty.

    - sound .. still kind of bad. The dialogue is good .. the environment, music and weapon sounds are pathetic.

    - characters .. at that time, we only have 4 ( i am sure more are coming with DLCs ) .. They are the "standard" types .. a new Siren, a kind of mechromancer? a 101 soldier and i dont know what the animal guy is about.
    I do not quite enjoy their design much - but that might come down to being used to the Borderlands 2 characters (i just think the cyber ninja, Maja, the gunzerker had a lot more personality)

    - personality .. a core feature of previous Borderland games. It "tries hard..." - which is not a compliment. I really dislike the Tiny Tina grown up version - and when i compare it to the whackyness of Borderlands 2 (or even 1) characters .. you either have the weird ones from the previous games .. or you get some bland new ones. Not impressed...

    - gamplay .. combat still feels weak. AI has not gotten better .. and enemies are only a challenge because they are sponges.

    - performance .. the game looks as good as Borderlands 2 HD ... but runs much worse for that. Now i certainly do not have a "gaming computer" - but i would expect a game running such visuals and game mechanics to run much better - also considering it is not really open world but still loading limited regions.

    conclusion .. maybe it will grow on me .. but for now .. i am rather disappointed with it.    … Expand

    I thought I wouldn't enjoy this franchise anymore considering how many years have passed, but nah it's still awesome, the feel of gunplay is much better, the guns are much cooler, the graphics are gorgeous compared to previous titles, and there are so many quality of life changes; if you like borderlands or even new to this franchise, u should consider buying it

    Barely started playing BL3, then a bug doesn't let me keep playing. "Watch monitor" says the journey, but there's nothing at the monitor. Result: I'm stuck at the very beginning of the game, GREAT.

Главные злодеи постоянно повторяют об одном и том же и они буквально практически не развиваются, из-за чего за ними совершенно не интересно следить, хоть идея раздражающих детей-блоггеров, которые ведут за собой целый культ - очень интересна и жаль, что разработчики не смогли вообще раскрыть потанциал этой идеи.
    Еще огорчило отсутствие главных персонажей в катсценах. Я понимаю, что практически не возможно сделать катсцены в зависимости от того, какие персонажи в данный момент находятся в лобби, но можно было же сделать катсцены со всеми 4 искателями по-умолчанию? Ибо из-за отсутствия их в катсценах, у меня было такое ощущение, что главные персонажи игры, вообще не являются участниками событий игры. Особенно было смешно в пару ключевых моментах, где они могли буквально с легкостью выстрелить пулей в лоб, однако нет - они стояли и смотрели на происходящее в сторонке, где то за кадром.    … Expand

I would say this is much more extreme than open world games such as Fallout 4 and the Elder Scrolls franchise and can be a little overwhelming.

    The first two parts were really awesome. They had humor, decent plot and reliable bug free gameplay (not at all but close). I can ignore bugs while the game still playable but the dialogs... It's like the game now is a teenager. Video bloggers as villains? **** humor? Screaming just for fun? Yeah, nice idea.

    The level design is ridiculous in this game. Each area is absolutely massive, full of sub areas that are massive, and full of sidequests that are massive. Speaking of side quests, they're home to much better writing. The post-campaign portion of Borderlands 3 is by far the best part of the game... but you have to go through such a slog of misery to get there, it's not worth it. They could have completely skipped out on the stupid villains and just had a game full of side quests and random missions and the game would have been a thousand times better.

    Overall, if you don't mind putting the dialogue on mute, it's fine. But what kind of maniac would play a story-based game with the story turned off? It's just not worth it. It's a disappointing package. So many improvements... but the core of the game is dated, immature, and -in some places- completely terrible.    … Expand

    I have got to say this game played beautifully at 1080 120fps for most of my time. I don't have an exceptionally powerful pc but there were zero issues running it. As for the gameplay, it is exactly what you would expect from a Borderlands game. The wide and I do mean WIDE selection of guns and other loot is incredible. There is everything from a chain-driven automatic pistol that you cool down with a water gun to a dubstep blasting smg. The loot is so bountiful that you often have to make choices on which to pick up as they can't all fit in your inventory. It makes the game feel rewarding and fresh even when fetching the 100th item for some quest.
    The gameplay can be a little repetitive in that many of the quests are fetch based and for that reason I would recommend playing with some close friends to keep it fresh and enjoyable.
    Please do not let the reviews from the release of this game sway you, the issues that many of them are referencing as far as optimization and bugs have been fixed and this is one of the best gaming experiences that I have had this year.    … Expand

    Thats about it though, otherwise the game itself gets aggravating quick with the horrible never ending punchlines, new garbage parkour system that never works and constant frame drops. There's better ways to spend $100

    About the only thing that warrants critique is performance. I am playing this on an overclocked 2080ti, with a 3900x, and at 3440x1440 I am averaging about 80fps on a mix of high and ultra settings. The game does look better than BL2, but not THAT much better. I remember playing BL2 on a 960m and a 2 core laptop cpu, and it was running quite ok. This thing is not optimized at all.

    Played 10hrs or so, havent encountered any bugs yet - except DX12. DX12 mode does not even run on my pc.    … Expand

    Pros:
    - gameplay is nothing new but that doesn't matter. The mechanics are fun and ultimately, fun is the most important aspect of a game.
    - I like that the new Playable Characters have dialogue, some of it is even worth listening to.
    - I like how they expanded the world a bit, not just stuck on pandora all the damned time like the previous titles.
    - New vehicles and vehicle customization

    Cons:
    - Story is straight garbage. Seriously, the parts that they didn't straight plagiarize from borderlands 2 were just cringe-worthy at best and horrible at worst.
    - New non-player characters were 90% garbage. Ava was completely unlikable. I wanted to kill her more than I wanted to kill the bad guys. Speaking of the bad guys, they were clearly written as some sort of boomer fanfiction of what "millennials are like." The rest of the new characters were voiced by people who must have never done voice-acting and are only there to collect a paycheck. I have a smart watch that reads my texts with more emotion than most of the characters in this game.
    - Holy cheese and rice, the performance. I run on a 1080ti and a ryzen 2700x and the game is on my SSD. This game runs like **** I've never had that problem. With any game. Ever.
    - Previous entries have had pretty cool weapons that were fun to experiment with. The coolest thing about the weapons in this game was some could switch between burst/semi/full-auto... That's it. I've admittedly not used every gun in the game yet but I've got about 100 hours already into the game and I've yet to find any crazy combos of gear/abilities that feel good to use. Pretty bland.
    - What the chuck did you guys do to the ability trees? The classic simple ability tree was perfect. It worked great. Now there are all these additional things and you can switch between trees and all that jazz but it just feels over-complicated now.
    - Ava. I know I mentioned this already but WTF. She is a terrible character. Completely unlikable and I hated every second of the game that she was in. I want to punch her voice-actor in the face and that's crazy because it's the writers who made her awful.
    - Unskippable cutscenes... in a game that's meant to have multiple play throughs.. literally designed for multiple runs. Amateurs.
    - after the 2nd planet, everything felt pretty much the same. The missions were all the same, the story was repeating itself which was a repeat of borderlands 2 but like... if BL2 repeated itself over and over within BL2...
    - I don't mind killing off characters. BL2 killed Roland who I **** loved but it was necessary. But killing Maya off was just... unnecessary. It felt like the writers were trying to distract us from the fact that they were just cats walking on keyboards.
    - Ava. She's garbage. Worst addition to any game ever. I would rather spend a month locked in the basement that i assume all darksouls players live in while playing Tetris and listening to them talk about how much better darksouls is than even sex which is a weird thing to say for people who have clearly never had sex than EVER play anything with Ava in it ever again.

    Conclusion:

    Gave the game a 1 because it has a few redeeming qualities. I tried REALLY hard to like it... Ultimately, though, the game felt like the writers were trying to punish their fanbase.    … Expand

    I love so much this game! When release there was some bugs but i havent issues with lugs. Now is it much better and i want to play more and more. It is very similar to Borderlands 2 and i like it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My overall gaming experience with B3 was actually positive. I like the Borderlands franchise a lot. Played the first game and really really played B2 and Pre-Sequel a lot.
    Now, while there are still a few bugs, like NPCs getting stuck on escorts or some issues with enemies or even Flaks pet just not attacking anything, while just sitting there for you to finish them, it is an overall good game. It gives you more of the well rounded loot shooter recipe with the fun and comic-like graphics we came accustomed to during the prequels.

    That said, the villains in B3 are just plain awful without any kind of personality that distinguishes them from a generic blockbuster movie villain. While Handsome Jack was witty, funny and even in a lot of instances relateable. THIS PART CONTAINS B2 SPOILERS! (If you listened to the audio logs during play through you could notice that he actually started out as someone who wanted to improve Pandora, make it better and actually transform it into a better place. But one tragedy after another, like losing his wife to the hands of his own Siren daughter and the constant resistance he received from the sick and twisted people living on Pandora, just made him go nuts.)

    The twins however are just as obnoxious as any stupid Youtube influencer these days. They are simple douchebags without any other trait than being there to annoy you on your quest to greatness. Even the fights against them are among the easier ones when it comes to boss fights. I had a harder time fighting Mouthpiece the first time, than I had with either of the twins.

    If this was the message they wanted to convey, it came across completely wrong. If they wanted to show that these "Youtube" wannabes are ultimately just full of **** it was a huge mistake. They just suck. Gearbox should have gone a different way here. Make them darker perhaps, but not try and build on Handsome Jack and then add some modern social media crap to it.

    Also, they are just plain evil, while Handsome Jack was not per se. They have no ulterior motive other than their own fame, which may be what society has become to these days, but it paints a black and white picture that is just not enjoyable. While I will probably replay B2 many times in the future, B3 does not seem to hold the same kind of replay value to me (as of yet).

    That said. If you just wanna blow things up and do not care about a decent story line, it is still a good game.    … Expand

    Played this game for about 200 hours as Amara, game should still be in Beta, there is way too many bugs.
    I had lost all my items from bank, my guardian rank went from 97 to 0,
    Online game play is crap.
    Im not going to even talk about how optimized this game is and that i dip into 39fps on low settings with 1080ti strix.

    The good:
    A rewarding and genuinely diverse loot system. I had a nightmare in having to give up guns which had seen me through hard battles but had become too low level to be a viable choice. Its a testament to the game that I could become so attached to these guns yet never feel like I was forced to use a gun I didn't want to use just because of its level. Each manufacturer has a generic feature. Maliwan for example requires a short charging period before firing in exchange for higher damage or elemental effects. Its for this reason that I didn't use maliwan guns, however for someone else this may be the exact reason they prefer them. Loot is dropped every few seconds in battle and the choice and variety is staggering.

    The characters, script and story. Some people have complained about these and I don't get it. Yes the humour is childish, but childish to the point of being amusing. The characters are well defined and brilliantly acted. I know it wasn't the same claptrap, but you'd be hard pressed to notice. The story was brilliant with plenty of twists and turns.

    Huge variety of enemies. For each planet there is different wildlife, the human enemies come in many different varieties and each feels like they have a spin to make them interesting. The bosses did on occasion outstay their welcome in single player, taking bullet sponging to a slightly uncomfortable extreme but I am inpatient and was always able to persevere.

    Side missions. There are loads, and they are very varied. Even if the mission is "go here, kill that" the dialogue makes it enjoyable and there is usually a twist to the usual formula.

    Graphics. I thought the graphics were great. A noticeable improvement over the last game while keeping with the same cartoon style.

    Movement. The movement system has been vastly improved. You can now mantle on to ledges, slide and perform a powerslam from a jump. This makes the combat more interesting and it seems like they have worked a lot of the gun play which is much better.

    No bugs. I can honestly not think of a single crash or real bug that I encountered throughout the entire game.

    The bad:
    In singleplayer the bosses can be a little bit too much of a bullet sponge.

    I never managed to get DX12 working.

    Conclusion:

    I really can't recommend borderlands 3 enough. It's a brilliant, varied and long game with a huge amount of content. I don't really play games beyond the conclusion of the story but I understand that there is a rich end game included with Mayhem mode.    … Expand

This game at launch was a 7/10. The campaign is okay. 2 really cringey characters ( Ava and Vaughn) that made me despise the game and wish I could skip cutscene (yeah that's not a thing). Post launch has been a nightmare. This game has 2 major flaws. 1. Major performance issues with the echo. 2 a game that says they have a billion guns but you can only keep 50 of those guns in the bank. Neither issues is being addresses by the incompetent team working on the game. Instead they nerf drop rates, nerf items, nerf characters, and nerf fun. The first event week was a joke.     Other than that, a decent looter shooter with no microtransactions forced down your throat. If you're mad about the lack of Steam support don;t be. In 6 months time, you'll hopefully get this game in a much better state.    … Expand

    I have never really liked shooters before.
    Started to play Borderlands 3 as friends told me that BL2 was great and i really liked the art style.
    Now as I played through the story 2 times (normal and TVHM) with lots of side quests and doing end game activities i can say that this game is just fantastic! The music and the funny characters were great (enemies could be less stupid), but    I have never really liked shooters before.

    Weapons are a big part of this game and they are an absolute 10/10. Unfortunately i like to try all weapons that drop in game and if you have the same illness your first game time will be 1/3 part gun testing because there are so many types of them :)

    My favourite thing was the diversity in locations. I really enjoyed the atmosphere on the planets. The player talents/builds are really thematic and well designed (sure need some power correction on them but we are getting patches week by week with fixes).
    There are/were?/ some problems with fps and game crashes they fixed most, luckily i don't have any problem on 60 fps.

    I don't believe that this game can be boring or bad for anyone who likes shooters.    … Expand

    buy bordlerlands 2 or play B2, this game is buggy as hell, inventory delete all yours items time to time, the story is **** and the rest is a clone of B2. NO! NO! NO!

    I am not afraid to admit it . I am sucker for Borderlands franchise and Borderlands 3 does not disappoints. If you like previous BL games you will like BL3 because the game is not huge departure from the past 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.It is. You will feel right at home when you start the game for the first time. Similar graphics and yet nicely upgraded. Similar weapon inventoryI am not afraid to admit it . More Borderlands without re-inventing the wheel.

    Another thing that needs to be mentioned is that there are no micro translations in this game (aside from season pass). What you see is what you get and this is awesome. I really do appreciate that and I am happy to support developer and publisher that does not treat us games like ATM machine.

    I do not own discrete video card and I play this game on AMD Ryzen 3400G with Vega 11 integrated graphics . the game runs very well all considered. I bought the game right after patch was released improving game performance. There are many visual settings to play with and the game looks great even on low settings. My Ryzen 3400g runs BL3 in mid 40FPSs at @1080p with low settings and resolution scale set @75%. I get PS4 and Xbox One S type experience with $150 APU from AMD. Microsoft Xbox controller has full support out of the box.

    Lastly i want to address negative ratings on Metacritics. Developers deserve to keep more profits and Epic competition is good for PC gaming industry. You might not like that the game is exclusive to Epic but eventually this game will come to Steam. I buy games both from Steam and Epic. I love Borderlands and I want to support people who worked tirelessly over last few years to bring us this AAA title. Consider that this game has no micro-transactions. Just for that one fact this game deserves your support even if you do not agree with exclusive games.

    So just go pick up the game and lose yourself in Pandora for many months to come.    … Expand

    The storyline is pretty bad, and not being able to skip cutscenes etc. gets annoying. The characters are also not as interesting as the previous Borderlands games. Gameplay wise it is a good game though, and if you don't care much about the story, this might even be the best Borderlands for you since the core gameplay remained the same, they just improved it a little.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros;
    - Gameplay has been impreoved upon massively since Borderlands 2
    - Looks great, even on lowest settings
    - World design is excellent
    - Extremely fun to mess around in and to farm gear
    - Playable characters have a great variety of abilities, very interesting to experiment with builds
    - The new ideas they came up with for gear are great, as usual a huge variety of gear
    - Mayhem modes add a new level of difficulty and rewarding game play. As well as boosted stats loot.
    - The addition of sliding and vaulting over objects is excellent and makes the fun movement even more so
    - Nice to see more vehicles added with added customisation

    Cons;
    - Abyssmal optimization, seriously **** garbage. The game runs so poorly it almost ruins the experience
    - Trash balancing of enemy damage. Badasses don't all need super OP rocket launchers capable of one hitting someone that has 36k hit points
    - Legendaries drop from anywhere in the game, not specific bosses. You can no longer farm for a specific weapon from a specific location. Not only that but legendaries are so easy to get that they become trash except for the very top tier weapons. Basically no point in using anything but legendaries past lvl 45
    - Story is seriously lacking. The main antagonists are obnoxious and just as one of them becomes interesting (right at the end of the game, I'm talking about Troy here), he gets killed and all the focus lands on his very boring sister. The twists aren't surprising or shocking, the deaths are lack luster and dissapointing
    - Eridium store is low effort and once you buy all the cosmetics there's basically no point to eridium unless you like playing the slot machine millions of times for trash loot
    - Side missions are extremely unalluring and I skipped most of them because A. I didn't need the exp B. They weren't funny, interesting or rewarding in any sense.

    I wanted this game to be good and in a sense, it is. However the story lets is down massively and the optimization really ruins the games chances of getting a higher score. This is coming from someone with over 500hrs in BL1, 600hrs in BL2 and 100hr in TPS. I still enjoy the game, because I no longer have to suffer through the story and I hope the DLC shows improved writing to keep me interested. NOT worth full price, wait for a sale.    … Expand

    There is no real end game its basicly making ur character OP so u can farm bosses fast. and wait a few days so gearbox will nerf the build and u can make a new build again.....     I had played the game for a while but then i got a sound bug where no matter where i am, or if im fighting or not, every 10-15 seconds i heard the sound of a enemy sniper shooting at me, but there is no sniper, its just bugged, like the whole game itself.

    Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

    Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

    The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
