It really has everything you want from the witcher: gore, blood, fights, a good story, characters, lore, sex and so on. How can this show be boring? also, affirmative action. you get used to it, but random black extras in a slavic crowd are hilarious. why no quotas for asians, or i dunno, why isn't there a transgender character, or a plus-size woman? everyone deserves a place. shame.

What Netflix has done is more like bad fan fiction written by someone (in this case, social justice messiah Lauren S. Hissrich) who doesn’t truly wish to grasp the source material but prefers to inject their political ideology into it. Then, of course, there’s the cheap looking costumes, the CGI, questionable directing, and fairly poor acting (besides Cavill, who still doesn’t fit the part but at least he loves the Witcher).

Definitely not a good show. Yep, untrue to the promises she made that she wouldn't change races willy-nilly and would respect the Witcher, not so good ole Lauren has pissed on the Witcher, its universe, its fans, and on the real-world history from which the Witcher borrows.

Keep in mind I'm not racist AT ALL. There are non-whites in the Witcher universe. I find it offensive and sad that Hissrich chose to give non-whites hand-me-down roles rather than original ones that fit within the fabric of the Witcher universe.… Expand

The casting is all wrong. Except Cavill, who is actually a really good actor and gives it all, but even that he's kind of too big for Geralt. The rest of the casting is downright awful. Ciri is good fit and Yenn isn't that bad...Terrible.

After the sixth episode that i just watch i got a pretty good idea of what that serie is all about and has a fan of geralt of rivia i can't be more mixed in my feelings than right now about the show, alot of peoples was comparing or was expecting a show of the quality of game of thrones and sadly it really isn't in fact it is a complete mess, the really fast pacing of each episode don't even let time to characters to establish themselve,jaskier become the best friend of geralt in the fifth episode they just met and the show already pretend that they are the best friends in the world,the first time that geralt and yenefer met they became super rapidly close and bang with passion, yenefer pass from the dumbest sorceress with no knowledge almost at all of magic to the wisest with powerful power and she know everything about monster lore in only four episode,theres any narrator at the begining of episode to tell the story, it would have be so much better it had one, that show feel rushed and unforgiving to any true fan, i can atleast say that henry cavill is deep into the character of geralt and his fightings scenes are incredible i rewind the fighting scenes to rewatch them how much they were stunning,when geralt hunt monters they are great i love the cgi,for me its really disappointing,they should have done it right with a better focus on geralt hunting adventure, they should have done it more in the way of the tv serie of hercules from the early 20s.… Expand

Average people still average. They made a huge work.

Nope, it's a very good serie, they have just started and I am sure they will make a huge fantastic job.

To think that they said the show is based on the books. Lairs. They ruined it by Americanizing it. Everything about this show carries an unpleasant odor about it. Do not waste your time.

Simply amazing! I got what i wanted. Characters are amazing. Cavil is Geralt himself. Thank you for Netflix to bring this adaptation to our home! We need season 2 right now!

Amazing adaptation of the books (and a few subtle hints from the games) make this show a 10/10. I will update my review when I finally finish the entire season. But so far it seems amazing. I have to agree that the rest of the cast are not as good or as entertaining as Henry Cavill who just nails the witcher, the voice, the mood, the personality, it just fits perfectly. Not the first attempt to translate the adventures of Geralt of Rivia to the small screen. Netflix's The Witcher does an admirable job of turning off it's audience pretty quickly by establishing a show that is jumpy, poorly written, and for the most part badly acted. Following the plot threads of Yennifer, Geralt, and Ciri. The Witcher deals with the theme of destiny in that all three characters have their fates interwoven and are destined to unite. The shame about this is that along the road I just stopped caring enough to actually give a rats when they do eventually meet up.Geralts journey is by far the most interesting and his action scenes are by far the best part of the show. Henry Cavill also seems to really give it his all which is a shame because he does have the makings of a good Geralt. Yennefer and Ciri's stories however are dull and boring. While it is admirable that the TV show does what the books do not and try to give Yennefer a deepper backstory, her story sucks, coming across as some Harry Potter eske narrative that is uninspired and painful to watch. Ciris journey from Cintra in the book Blood of Elves was never too interesting for me and I often found myself keen to get back to Geralts adventures. But in the TV show it reaches a whole new level of awful as it's painfully dragged out across atleast over 5 episodes (Where i'm up to).

The acting in this show is mostly awful. Aside from Cavill whom I mentioned earlier as being a saving grace of the show actors such as those who portray Yennefer, Ciri, and Dandellion are all terribly miscast. Characters such as Renfri and Stregobor feel like completely different characters to how they appeared in the book. And majority of the remaining supporting cast are wooden and lifeless.

The plot of the show is like a proverbial Frankensteins monster. Jamming up to three books worth of story into a single episode instead of giving each story time. The episodes are in such a rush to pass the finish line they often skip the line and keep going. The books adapted for the show from what I've found are Blood of Elves, and the short story collections The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. Any one of these books alone are strong enough to hold a season and yet the show keeps jamming more and more exposition down the audiences throught in an attempt to speed-run through all the Witcher books in a few episodes as possible. What doesn't help this show is the inevitable comparisons to CD Projekts Witcher games which are a far better adaptation. Fans of the game series will more than likely find many issues with the show and for good cause. While the books author did not appreciate the games (aside from the money they made him) they were a far more valiant error in translating his work. Even with Sapkowskis involvement in the creative process of this show the show continues to disappoint over and over again.… Expand

There where no white actors playing Wakanda citizens in "Black Panthera". Why Netflix could't honor fantasy with Slavic origins and introduced black actors that clearly doesn't match books nor games vision?

Netflix has done a great job of adapting the books. The casting is beyond perfect, and they’ve really nailed the fight scenes, comedy, cinematography and acting.

Henry Cavill is perfect as Geralt. 10/10 show

Веселят люди, которые пишут, мол сериал понравится истинным фанатам Ведьмака. Нет, брехня, персонажи (не все) просраны. Историческая действительность просрана (средневековая Польша, куча азиатов и афроамериканцев, в средневековой Польше). Боевые сцены идеальны. Игра актёров хороша. Внешний вид Трисс и Йенифер, ну, не это мы ждали. Цыганский табор, а не ложа чародеек. Сериал впринципе смотреть можно, но у истинных фанатов, может пригорать.… Expand

Henry Cavill is the only good thing about this show. The action is terrible, the effects are bad, the story is NOT true to the books, most of the main characters have been horribly miscast or outright changed into something else entirely.

It looks absolutely cheap and funny. Seems like all budget was spent on Henry Cavill’s salary or on something else. Absolute lack of atmosphere, presented in books, strong and unjustified differences in appearance of some characters.
