I read books before and it really helps to understand world of witcher. Yennefers story begins a lot years before another. And ciri is in the future. Actually, I had low expectations about this Netflix series, but in the end I am pleased with the result.First thing which comes to mind is that combat scenes are pretty neat. Surprisingly, Henry Cavill was able to perfectly convey the image of Geralt and generally all other main actors did their part well. Personally, I see nothing bad of nudity presented in episodes, this is an adult story for an adult audience. At least, age rating should give you an idea of what might be there. There are two main downsides for me which lowers my overall score. Firstly, there is some discrepancy between the selected actors and their roles, which are completely different in appearance in the book canon. I am in principle dissatisfied with this excessive political correctness in the industry. Secondly, for those who are unfamiliar with The Witcher books or games it would be vary difficult to figure out what is going on here, maybe in the next seasons the viewer will become more clear what this story is about.… Expand

As a fan of the books and games I can say that the show delivered big time. Henry, Anya and Freyas performance was perfect. Henry nailed Geralt, everything from his voice to his sense of humor was perfect. The story itself was great. However,As a fan of the books and games I can say that the show delivered big time. Other than being pissed, I'm DISAPPOINTED. Bad acting and directing. Weak as **** writing. Seen better costumes in Cosplay pics. How's that happen? CGI looks like crap, too.

I see many 10s for this show and can't imagine how anyone thinks this show is great. Guess FOOLS accept anything. Guess they don't realize they weaken the Witcher legacy and support an ass-backwards kind of racism by rewarding this garbage.

Shame on all you ****… Expand

I have played the games so my opinion is a tad bias. However I though this show well done. Well choreographed action (maybe needed a bit more maybe next season), the sexy stuff is always appreciated, and an EXTREMELY dark gritty world. I've not read the books, I've barely played the games. The parts of Yennefer and Geralt are good, and the actor and actress perform very well in my opinion. But the timeline and most characters' relationship are not good. They tried to make you feels sad when some character die, but you might not have time to know these character. And even though I think Yen's part are good, this character isn't charming as she is in the original books and games. She's childish, cynical. The show didn't convinced me, that she is the woman who Geralt would suddenly falls in love with her.

And I don't thing people who hasn't read the original books or played the games will fully understand what happened in the show. Because they cut a lot of important and key in formations out, like what is a witcher, where they come, why people hate them, what is Dryad, why human fears them(they looks like normal human in the show)...etc.

The musics and battle scene are good. But the visual effects feels very cheap.

Overall, it's not a bad show, but is not good as well.… Expand

I am a book reader and a fan of a game , and i think they did a pretty good job with adapting the story. It is not perfect, but it's not as bad as the critic score suggests. Я читал все книги и прошёл ведьмака 3 несколько раз.
И я искренне не понимаю, как можно смотреть этот высер в стиле Сарика Андреасяна, долго думал кого мне напоминает этот сериал и это именно его работы, что не возьми всё плохо, актёры (кромеЯ читал все книги и прошёл ведьмака 3 несколько раз.

Смотря, я понимаю что хотели чтобы получилось, но это не получается, ни на йоту не цепляет, не переживаешь вместе с героями в местах где должен сопереживать. Очень сильно похоже на польские версии Ведьмака, но к ним претензий быть не может, они изначально низкобюджетные, любительские, но Нетфликс... не ожидал что им вообще всё равно что выкатывать. В общем отговорить кого то смотреть я не могу, стало быть выход один, смотреть и блевать от боли.… Expand

Just recently read the books, and I have to say I hard a hard time following the plot, in the series as in the books. Too confusing which timeline the current scene plays in. Too confusing which timeline the current scene plays in. Also, for people that don't know the backstory, some actions of certain characters may seem confusing. But my biggest critique is the weird sceneries. The overall color and styles are too different in each scene and don't match action. Somehow it wants to be that cruel, horror series but instead is all colorful with oversaturated high fantasy elements.
In the end, the series is pretty close to the books and will only unfold itself fully in season 2 when the first roman begins but for now, it wasn't either really or good or really bad. Nonetheless, I'm a fan of the universe and hyped for the next season.… Expand

Короче, глянул я ведьмака, все 8 серий залпом. Перед просмотром сериала, офк, Я относился к нему скептически. На правах фана серии игр и оригинальных книг, готов был обосрать там все покадрово. Не смотря на куча сжв, негров дриад, зериканок, индуса Мышевура и Вельгифорца, несостыковки с книгами(хотя это вряд ли минус), и знаменитой брони нильфов, сериал все равно отрабатывает свои бесплатные 30 дней новым подписчикам нетфликса Каппа, а возможно и больше. Если без рофлов, то строго рекомендую к просмотру тем, кто знаком с вселенной ведьмака, а тем кто не одупляет че происходит, сериал может не зайти, так как многие моменты не объясняются. А тамошняя расчлиненка вообще ааа уровня, я давно такого не видел, если вообще видел. Короче рекомендую. Рофлово видеть нули на метакритик с комментами про плоский медальон и один меч у Геральта, классиик в общем. При том что юсерскор выше, чем критик скор, походу чемоданы не занесли.… Expand

It was a bit too fan service, the story was interesting but told in an uninteresting way, and one of the characters was strangely out of place in her own plot. The show captures both aspects of the games and the books very well in a way that I think has something for everyone. My girlfriend, who has no interest in games or fantasy, was able to sit through almost the entirety of the show—something she can't do for almost every fantasy cinema.

I think the reason is that Geralt is just played so well; he's an imperfect badass who smells bad. He nails the witcher voice from the games in almost every case (except when he randomly adds an accent that's almost like an American trying to do a British accent and failing). He also has the physic and the movements of Geralt from the games.

I think Yennifer is played well, but I was hoping to see her turn a bit more snooty as the show went on. I think her shield of proper-ness could be a bit more fleshed out. The organization of the show is something that I was expecting in a fantasy series, but it leads into a climactic point and enhances the story telling in a way that turns each of the shows into a piece of a larger puzzle. I think I prefer this to it being purely Episodic.

As far as these low critic reviews, I think someone is upset about something. I've seen them focus on aesthetic, or calling certain people "incel" and I think it's clear they weren't at all open to a Universe that is both chaotic and dark. I'm not sure what they were expecting in watching the show, but their input seems wanting. TL;DR:
It has an abnormally hard-to-get-through first show (all shows have a hump in the first several episodes), but it delivers a great series that I think will make book and game fans happy. I also think, based on my girlfriend, this has an interesting enough plot that might make fans out of newcomers. Most negative critic reviews seem caught up on unimportant aspects.… Expand

A lot of the negative reviews here seem focused on the "Forced Diversity" and casting. It is true enough to the series but some changes, I don't believe a strict adaptation would be good or satisfying though. My partner has never read the books or played the games and she followed along easily. Though some other reviews claim that you would struggle without that experience. Honestly, my girlfriend is kinda dumb, so her managing to follow speaks volumes.

Anyway, watch it and decide for yourself, certainly don't make a decision based on any reviews (I realise that might seem stupid coming from a review). It's increasingly clear that both professional and audience reviews are becoming more useless and washed down.… Expand

Графика и Аутентичность: 9 из 10 - с графикой всё прекрасно, но вот доспехи Империи Солнца, если что и вызывают, то только смех, они не просто выглядят нелепо, они ещё и неэффективны в бою.
Звук: 10 из 10 - хорошо погружает в атмосферу событий происходящих на экране.
Актёрская игра: 10 из 10 - бои Геральта на мечах просто восхитительны, всё поставлено просто прекрасно, мне, как фехтовальщику наблюдать такую феерию грамотно и правильно поставленных движений - было вдвойне приятно(отдельное спасибо за правильный хват меча, а то в Игре Престолов этим часто пренебрегали). В остальном с актёрской игрой тоже всё отлично.
Сюжет: 10 из 10 - Пан Сапковский сочинил прекрасную историю, а создатели сериала достойно её адаптировали, даже переделанные моменты из книг мне понравились)… Expand

If you are hoping this will be like the books this is a travesty. The characters are very hit and miss with Henry cavils Geralt the only redeeming feature the actor who played ciri do quite well as well.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7 episode, the total destruction of the majestic Jennifer. Why add so many stupid, unnecessary, destroying images of the hero of the scene? But they cut down other stories, removed a lot of good, revealing many actions moments. And they added this. Why am I ashamed to watch this? What a terrible chronology of events? A person unfamiliar with books will generally become entangled in chronology. Why was it necessary to slam the battle for zintra at the very beginning, and then confuse people with a feast?
Why not insert first the Feast revealing the same husband of Kalante? and only then kill him.
Disgusting direction. A bunch of stupid moments.
Why did they insert so many passages from 1 episode? Just saving, by the principle, and so it goes, they will eat it. Disgusting.
I really looked forward to the series, but I was very disappointed in it. Mb for a person not at all familiar with the Witcher universe, the series will be interesting. But for the fan, he is vile. And if you do not take into account a bunch of gag, frankly stupid unnecessary plot changes, the film itself looks cheap… Expand

Book fans will have few scenes they can enjoy and that are loyal to the source material, but will have a lot of Netflix woke fanfiction. The show feels disjointed and stripped of the charm of the books (that CDPRED masterfully adapted into the games). The script is worse than I expected and the writers have no excuse as they had all the books available and they could have constructed a script that is both loyal and fresh. Do you expect to see Ciri meeting Geralt in Brokilon? Say goodbye to that. do you expect to see that wonderful moment when Geralt and Ciri are reunited? You will get a bland meeting stripped of emotion. Can't wait to see the badass Borch in his dragon form? The CGI is so bad it's laughable.

This show is an insult to any fan that loved the books. It's not even an adaptation, but fanfiction with a bit of book stuff sprinkled here and there. Geralt and Jaskier are the only good part of the show and you can tell that the other actors are lacking. However, two good actors can't do wonders with a bad script.… Expand

Slower beginning, but great characters, interesting stories and amazing fight scenes definitely made up for it. I think casting was done almost perfectly and I’m in awe of Geralt’s and Yenn’s actors acting skills.

There are so many problems that is hard to list. I had no expectations it would be better than GoT. But it was terrible.
