Well, 1-3 series are very very good, 4-5 are quite normal. Starting from the 6th series, some kind of thrash begins, it is very crowded, the plot is compressed, some plot points are incomprehensible.

The plot, where there are no differences with the books is quite good
Great sword fighting
Cons:
Graphics, it is evident that there is not enough budget, there is little magic and all of it is merged. Dragons are poorly drawn. Well, the backs of some scenes are not very good
The complexity of the plot and the lack of dates, people unfamiliar with the universe will easily get confused
Unnecessary death of some characters
Poor disclosure of the characters of elves and dryads, and just missed branch Dol Blattana and the Blue Mountains, but this may be a problem of lack of funds, but nevertheless, these events are interesting and due to their absence, some character motivation is lost and logical gaps are created.

They needed to do another 2-4 series and then they could reveal some interesting points… Expand

Наприклад в книжках Тріс не приймала участів в епізоді, коли відьмак знімав прокляття з дочки Фольтеста, а в Брокілоні Цирі була з Геральтом, а не сама.Серіал поганий усим. Наприклад в книжках Тріс не приймала участів в епізоді, коли відьмак знімав прокляття з дочки Фольтеста, а в Брокілоні Цирі була з Геральтом, а не сама. Епізод з фавном який крав їжу для ельфів дуже сильно порізали. Епізод з Паветтою і Єжем дуже перкрутили. Локації показані жахливо. Не залишилося нічого від східногоєвропейського середньовіччя. З головних персонажів норм мабуть тільки Цирі, але в неї роль не дуже насичена. Єнефер просто бісить, не схоже ні на те що в книжці, ні на те що було в грі. Від позитивної і радісної Тріс не залишилося нічого. А про Каланте навідь згадувати не хочеться. Так спаскудити такого чудового персонажа... І головне навідь з таким великим бюджетом цей серіал чисто візуально в деяких сценах виглядає гірше ніж оригінальний польський серіал якому більше 15 років. Fun, but exceedingly flawed. The script writing, and direction made this overly confusing where it needn't be. There is quite a bit of angst over the diversity casting, but it doesn't bother me. This isn't Eastern Europe. There is magic, and dragons. Get over yourselves. The problems are that the characters are pretty shallow, and most look downright bored to be there. Still, for fans of the games and this type of media, its worth a watch. I overall enjoyed it, but I totally understand why others don't like it (and its not because it has black people in it).… Expand

Being a fan of the books and the games, I would give this a 10/10, but there are some issues with implementation that will make the whole plot of season 1 confusing to newcomers, namely the unannounced parallel stories happening at differentBeing a fan of the books and the games, I would give this a 10/10, but there are some issues with implementation that will make the whole plot of season 1 confusing to newcomers, namely the unannounced parallel stories happening at different times. The acting is superb from the main cast, especially Henry Caville, who is able to play the subtle emotions of the emotionally surpressed superhuman mutant witcher that he represents on screen. Yennifer's acting is well done as well. The only issue with season 1 is the nature of the source material. Most of what goes on in season 1 is only mentioned in the first books in passing or is represented as a collection of disjointed short stories. As such, it was an extreme challenge to make it fit on the screen; yet they still made it work. If you pay attention, you can follow this series pretty well.

There are some insertions of forced diversity into this largely Polish and European setting, but it is done with class, unlike some movies lately such as the new starwars where all the diversity is given to the good guys while the bad guys are all "white males". The diversity hires are inserted equally and not given more power or authority than the expected polishfrench descended people. The CG is adequate, and "gets the point across", but don't expect something akin to game of thrones just yet.

1 for Geralt, the acting is cool, 1 for music. Personally I didn’t like this serial. Some moments was like “wtf”. Most characters was same as some moments. And sorcerers suck at magic. Dryads are the worst (maybe except Elves)

#notmywitcher I'm sure the cast and the crew did their best but it didn't align with my expectations. I'm one of those people that feel disappointed after watching the show, I feel like this is mostly due to my personal bias towards a more#notmywitcher I'm sure the cast and the crew did their best but it didn't align with my expectations. I'm one of those people that feel disappointed after watching the show, I feel like this is mostly due to my personal bias towards a more rough, medieval European based, Slavic in nature version of the story. I've read the books back in high school and they have resonated with me well, unfortunately, it means that I came to the show having a strong vision of what it 'should' be. This is probably the worst pre-condition to have. It made me think that everything with the show is wrong, I haven't felt anything and I was pissed most of the time, nitpicking on every single detail.

Overall the show had this strong feeling of being a theatrical performance, which I couldn't stand... it's like something was always off, the backgrounds seemed fake, the sets were built too perfect without showing much of the wear, the lighting was too perfect and therefore felt fake - like one would expect in a theatre. I consider this as a flaw regardless of my personal preferences, the whole show had this feeling of being a cheap knockoff. If it had a 'big' budget it must have been burnt without producing the results that were expected. Any comparison to the GOT is just a sad joke. If you look at the final trailer or what's being played on Netflix when you select the show it's all based on a quick succession of fast action shots that lasts less than 1 sec. and they look good when shown like that, but when you let them play in full length during the episodes they lose everything... In conclusion, I would rather see the whole budget of this show being redirected to producing a fully CGI version based on the Wild Hunt's intro. Wish you all the best for season2.… Expand

I did really enjoy that show, cause Am a big fan of books, even after some plots were skipped or just short to establish world. It's fantasy, so tons of stuff can go in. I just hate, when they don't know how does dragon look like. Actors really bring the world to real. It's a dark fantasy.

Good parts: Nice story, good character representation, you can feel chills when Witcher starts his sword work. It's really tries to be on point with books. You can feel the tension, and what character works.

Bad ones: Some silly stuff, like witcher should be OP in fight witch humans. Yen fight with bad guys as good as Geralt. You don't really know why Geralt and Jaskier is a thing i always felt like they we're opposites of themselves, to show character development of Geralt, who is old, cynical, and hard to handle. In here Jaskier is just ok and can sing.… Expand

Henry Cavill is fantastic as Geralt of Rivia. Jaskier and Yennefer were also very good, the plot is very interesting, most scenes are faithfully to the book. I have always been a fan of the games (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt being my favorite game of all time) and I think this show does an immense amount of justice for the characters, world, and lore. Aside from occasional heavy-handed dialogue, I really enjoyed this series. The soundtrack and swordplay were top notch. Сериал вынуждает зрителя следить за диалогами, где упоминаются события, чтобы сопоставить время сюжетных арок трех главных героев относительно друг–друга. Йеннифэр — вырастает из искуроченого гадкого утенка в мага испепеляющего армии, Геральт — циник, познающий любовь, бессмысленно бегущий от всесильной Судьбы. И Цири, выброшенная той же Судьбой из принцесс в реальный жестокий мир. Весь первый сезон посвящен развитию этих персонажей, все сюжетные лини синхронизируются только в самом конце.

Если вы окончательно испорчены комиксоидной манерой подачи сюжета — сериал не для вас.

First episode made a good impression but each next episode decrease overall impression. Having read the books and played the games, The Witcher on Netflix was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t hold much hope for Cavill’s take on Geralt but I am happy to be proven wrong. I didn’t hold much hope for Cavill’s take on Geralt but I am happy to be proven wrong. He makes the character his own while channeling the vocal and physical characteristics that made the CD Projekt Red’s version so compelling a protagonist and his performance is a pleasure to watch.

One of the critic reviews makes a comparison with game of thrones, which is a strange place to go but just as basic as you might expect from main stream commentators who see the world through the same old tired stereotypes.

Another comment was that the scripts goes from old language to modern speak, confusing the style of the tale. This is only true for one character , a bard, and this is clearly part of his character, something that made sense to me given his role as both a narrator and comic relief. Liking this will be subjective, I thought it was ace.

A couple of slow lulls in the show stopped this from being a 10, but then again anything is rarely perfect to anyone.

Go into this world without expectations, follow the story the characters tell you and allow the pieces to fall into place, and hopefully you will be rewarded and left eagerly awaiting season two as I am. Enjoy the world of The Witcher!… Expand

Everything in the series is quite good, but the heart of TV show/film/book/game is always a script, and it's awful. A lot of changes from the books were made just for the change itself, first season feels rushed and lacking of background, world's history. Timelines are messed up, Cahyr character arch is dead on arrival, moments essential to main story are reverted or just dumped (like Ciri-Geralt meeting in Brokilon). Though the action is very good, acting is nice, music, overall image re great (CGI in some places is arguable) without a doubt. At the end of a day we got a situation very similar to the 8 season of Game of Thrones - to bookreaders it looks like a silly freaking fanfiction, and to those who just watch the show itself its just another average fantasy TV show. The show will be 10/10 if in the next seasons they will actually follow the books in the script, with maybe A LITTLE change and leave everything else as it was, but right now its 1/10 to me, just because of the script, that I can compare to the book's one.… Expand

Good things: Actors- All the actors did a fantastic job. The charachtets and the vibe they own is out of this world in both the games and the books, consideringNo Spoiler.

Good things:
Actors- All the actors did a fantastic job. The charachtets and the vibe they own is out of this world in both the games and the books, considering how hard and complicated it was, especially Geralt, they did good.

Sword fights- Very well done, also the witcher signs are cool. I would love to see more then the aard

Crudelty- The world of the witcher is cruel and full of blood and sadness, it's part of the magic. Glad they included that.

Story_ I like the story and the adaptation.

Negative things:
Geralt **** hair - I am sorry, but in some scenes the hair system Henry has to ware sucks and looks very very fake. True fans know how much important Geralts' hair are, that's why he is the white wolf. Not a small detail.

Special effects ( Monsters in particular)- Now, if you do a series about the witcher world, monsters are a big component. Not all special effects are bad, in fact, some of them, are really really good. But the monsters...sooo fake and badly done. I know they are heavy money to make, but again, it's the witcher: monsters must be scary, look scary and move in the correct way, if you really want to give the series the game and the book vibes.

Geralt's eyes- They are circular, and I am fine with that. But again, you can easly tell they are fake. They look fine in the dark, but extremely fake under the light. Costumes- Well, Nilfgard armour....you know already. But also, I don't like Geralt armour. Looks like a piece of plastic. Other are good

Geralt is too mad- Geralt is a very very very very complicated charcter. I understand it must not have been easy for Henry to do him, but he always looks mad which is not true in both games and books. Geralt knows when to look scary, but the majority of the time he is an observer, someone who prefers to stand aside and not take any position, also knowing to hide emotions. Henry looks mad 70% of the time as Geralt and bever never never shows his incredible, chill, outstanding side. That' what makes a great Geralt in my opinion, something the games have done perfectly.… Expand

Ja do 3 odcinka chciałem skreślić ten serial bo jakoś mnie nie przekonał natomiast od 4 tego akcja się rozkręca, Gerald jest już mniej sztuczny gdy otwiera usta,Do wszystkich krytyków. I'm giving the score as a level of enjoyment for a fan of the games. Firstly, I can totally understand why there are negative reviews related to the film making in the initial episodes. Firstly, I can totally understand why there are negative reviews related to the film making in the initial episodes. The dialogue feels dry, the costumes look plastic and the exposition is confusing. However, this is really the show just catching its stride. Eventually it becomes the Witcher we know and love. Especially by episode 3-4 the show brings everything together and we are on our way. There are a lot of shows out there with more polish but nothing with the heart of the Witcher lore. A lot of the 0 scores on here seem to be based on a perceived SJW narrative. Guys, they are just black actors. Hiring black actors isn't a SJW narrative. People from all backgrounds want to see themselves reflected in the characters on screen. It's just made for a broad audience. It's a fictional universe where the colour of your skin has no impact on character building. It isn't a historical drama where such criticisms might be more reasonable.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Henry Cavill is the only reason to watch the show. His portrayal of Geralt is right on spot.
Everything else is a pile of plot holes and wokeness.

For example, straight from the beginning. How exactly does a kingdom sneakily invade their neighbor? Are there no spies to let the other kingdom know what's going to happen? Are there no sentinels and message pidgeons to let the king know there is an army approaching the border? HOW? If a kingdom fails at such an epic scale to defend itself, then their defeat is wholly DESERVED! And when the army finally invades the capitol city, why exactly do they burn it down?! It makes no sense to waste resources and men, only to destroy the reward for all that effort.

Queen Calanthe at a party quite openly, publicly and strongly, INSULTS the son of the neighboring kingdom which was even richer and more militarily powerful than her own, FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER, proving that no only she doesn't even know the meaning of the word Diplomacy, but also common sense is equally meaningless to her.
Oh, and also "Why am I following laws made by men?!".

This failure of queen is supposed to make the viewer sympathetic to her plight? WHY?!

The show is filled with scenes where female characters whine about how oppressed they are, and how men are garbage. Also, all villains and shady characters are men. But then that was to be expected from Netflix. What was bizarre for Netflix, is that even up to episode 4 there are no LGBT characters. I half expected all the important female characters to be raging lesbians, given the wokeness of Netflix. Is this a China thing? Because China hates LGBT content?

Also what's with all the black people?! The show is based on a book based on the Polish medieval folklore. There were no black people in medieval Poland.

On a closing point, the show feels very...small scale. The locales are beautiful in CGI, but everything else feels like it was filmed in a small studio, very..."Chronicles of Shannara"-like

I would have given it a 0, but Henry Cavill's performance brings it 3 points.… Expand

This show is great. The Witcher is not meant to be an overarching grand story like Game of Thrones, but more of a tale of the world as seen through the eyes of a monster hunter looking to avoid political turmoil.
