One of the best high fantasy series I've watched in a very long time. I was not a GoT fan, as it's court drama was too melodramatic for me. The Witcher is a completely different breed, and I love it for that.

If you are a fan of the Witcher games, or the Witcher books, this is the show for you. It is an amazing story, and the characters are well portrayed by the actors. For some reason some of the characters being Black bothers people I guess? LolIf you are a fan of the Witcher games, or the Witcher books, this is the show for you. Lol its kind of weird that its a talking point at this stage. None of the main characters are black, just random people. I guess that angers people? Very strange. Anyway this isn't Batwoman, there is no left wing political nonsense going on, just straight Witcher action. Henry Caville potrays Geralt perfectly. I can't wait for season 2! Netflix is terrible when it comes to movie adaptions, but this show adaption is amazing. I mean unless you have a problem with people with a different skin pigmentation like most of these 0-reviewers. You will not be disappointed!… Expand

Damn good pilot season!
I've only played the games, but i must say that netflix did a good job. Too bad Geralts mom did not play Triss.... (Sjw's did not ruin the show like i was thinking for almost a year)

I am really amazed by this show. I read all the books and also played the games and I must say they really delivered. Binged all 8 episodes today and I especially love Geralt in the Show and especially his dynamic with Dandelion(Jaskier).I am really amazed by this show. Quite good. Follows the short stories from the first took books and takes liberties with some of their storylines. Some acting is subpar, some acting quite good. Don't understand the bad reviews people post. Complain about this mature series, with dark atmosphere and not cringing dialogue. As I can see the main critiques come for some secondary actors being black actors? Its a fantasy world people. Its not "slavic" exclusive from only Europe. ITS FICTIONAL. Get over little politic details and because of this you give it a disastrous score like being the worst ever netflix show. Stop being crying political propagandists and enjoy the story.

In my opinion the tv show keeps the atmosphere from the witcher books and games. They keep true as possible to the lore material and it is put in good manner in the show.The scenery, the mood , the dialogue is good. The action is very good. Was binge watching the whole season until 4 am. It is a good series that is something more mature and more dark as it should be.That is what it is all about. That makes the witcher universe work and they nailed that part.

Of course like in every movie or show, there are good actors and some mediocre ones. Some of them are not so good but that doesnt mean its destroys the show. The main ones are playing good esspecially Gerald is well interpreted.

Its a good show, brings somethhing fresh to Neflix, more mature and more quality to the roster. Its a different fantasy and feels good to see something diffrent and well implemented.
Can't wait for season 2.… Expand

The only problem is the pacing of the story. Being a huge world filled with all sorts of monsters and kingdoms, it is pretty much impossible to explain the world whilst advancing the story. If you are new to the series you could be put off by the said pacing.
Since I've played the game (last chapter only mind you) I am pretty well acquainted with the world and so my is 10/10.
Cavil as Garry The Metrosexual fruitcake is on point. Great .
So, the only con is the sort of a rushed story due to the size of the material.… Expand

I'm coming at this from an angle of someone who's a fan of the book series, which is one of my favorites. Which is why, i had really high expectations, and I'm glad they could be met. Which is why, i had really high expectations, and I'm glad they could be met. The score, the choreography, most of the casting (namely the main cast plus joey batey as jaskier were fantastic).
The series has the challenge to fit many loosely connected short stories and a different story happening much later into a cohesive piece, which might be hard to follow for people unfamiliar with the source material. It isn't optimal, but i think the approach that this series took is a good compromise.
What matters most is that i found myself at the edge of my seat for almost all of the time… Expand

Music is something obscene. I heard a lot of discontent about female nudity. Overly tender, everything has become tender in our time. Я был одним из немногих, кому понравился каст и трейлеры к сериалу. И вот, сегодня, а именно 20 декабря 2019 года, Netflix выложил все 8 серий первого сезона, и что я могу сказать, это очень круто! Я не зря верил в сценаристов, актёров, режиссёра и всех причастных, получился очень интересный и поистине захватывающий сериал! Все актёры смотрятся идеально на своих ролях, а Генри Кавилл идеальный Геральт. Понравилась история и то, как в сюжет вплетаются лорные моменты, ненавязчиво так, между слов, так что если вы не знакомы с данной вселенной, вы можете сильно запутаться, так что советую ознакомиться с играми, ну и книги можете почитать. Спецэффекты и боёвка выглядят шикарно, хотя местами видно, что бюджет был не очень-то и большим, но операторская работа сглаживает углы. Там, где можно было не использовать графику, создатели использовали практические эффекты, что не может не радовать. Очень сильно понравилась музыка, которая задавала нужный тон. Атмосфера тёмного фэнтези присутствует. Драматические моменты пробивали на слезу. В сериале есть и юмор, который всегда веселит и есть там, где нужен. Do not stop after watching 2 episodes. The first 2 episodes are just terrible. And in my opinion the third to fifth arent great as well but they feel like they are meant for soemthing better. They tried to introduce so many different characters. Annoying, dumb charcters i didnt care for. But also they did some speedrun with the development of Yennefer and Geralt. The saved the whole dilemma. There was a point in episode 6, when everything made sens. The characters started to feel more immersive. The story started to take off and so did the characters.

This season felt way too much like GoT. Also the looks of season one arent the greatest all the time. Sets looked so nice, that they where like plastic. Some characters are annoying and badly written (like this review). Hopefully there will be more witcher time in the future.

First two episodes easily 1 star.
3 - 5 gets around 2,5 to 3 stars.
But from there on its really really great. No annoying scenes, no nonsense. I started to assemble a timeline. Just a great adventure starting to get steamy! After all i loved it!… Expand

If they spent a little more effort and screen time to dig into the story and a tad less on their political touch points, this can really benefit. The monster CGI fights also needed some better direction. Don't let the terri-bad first fight scene in Episode 1 put you off, it does get much better.… Expand

If you've read the books and played the games then this is just a perfect accompaniment to the Witcher world. It has a very authentic Witcher feel to it, the actors are an excellent choice and setting is just how you'd imagine it to be. This is terrible, nothing remained of the original book, despite claims to the contrary. Trying to comply with racial diversity you forgot that the main task of the actor is a good acting game!

Critics are f’in brain dead. This is THE Witcher in live action. You can’t do any better when it’s perfect. This has hooked me more than Game of Thrones. The lore is just much more interesting than dull Westeros.
