Everything that Michael Jordan touches, turns into gold. NBA 2K11 is the best game of its kind because of all the improvements that Visual Concepts has added.- XGN

Guerilla Games has set the bar while it ventures into a new genre. The game looks phenomenal, and it offers variety, tens of hours of fun and an accessible system. It challenges you in every fight to play intelligently. This may be the best game of 2017.- XGN

Minecraft is finally available for the PlayStation 4 and it's still a great game. With a bigger world and more view-distance, Minecraft is a perfect game for both beginners and PS3-veterans, though the game doesn't offer anything new.- XGN

Dark Souls is one of the most difficult games of the year and adds a lot of crazy enemies and surroundings. The co-op could have been done better but that shouldn't stop you from engaging in this sixty hour long adventure.- XGN

The Last of Us Part 1 is a questionable remake of the beloved PS3 game. While the improvements are there, they come in small forms. For new players, this is the way to go, but fans of the original should probably wait for a price cut because the small improvements definitely do not justify the price.- XGN

By making The Beatles: Rock Band, Harmonix did a really good job and the game is certainly good in all ways. Unfortunately the few new things aren't all useful and the game doesn't support the other Rock Band content. However, this game is full of Flower Power and therefore you really need to play this at least once in your life.- XGN

Capcom took what they learned from years of Monster Hunter and improved upon it in Wilds. The combat feels great, the world is alive and there's lots of fashion to boot. It's a shame you can't display all the creatures you collect, and new players might struggle to get started. But once you're off, there's nothing better.- XGN

This game plays well but there's a big lack of innovation. The multiplayer has shown some improvements but furthermore the game is exactly like you would expect.- XGN

A little too late? Maybe. It all depends on if you already played Deus Ex: Human Revolution. If not, you have no more reasons to not buy this game. Square Enix really enhanced the game, turning the Gamepad into a 'augmention'. If you already played Deus Ex: Human Revolution, then pray for a sequel!- XGN

Dishonored is an essential purchase for the self-respecting lover of videogames. The game offers an intelligent and exciting experience which makes this one of the best games of the year. Dunwall is just as impressive in Dishonored as Rapture was in BioShock, and the magic powers are incredibly awesome to use. Eventually there is nothing to criticize this game for. A true must have.- XGN

Brotherhood brings us one step closer to the third instalment of Assassin's Creed. The singleplayer is great but Ubisoft surprises just about everyone with some kickass multiplayer modes.- XGN

The people at Freestyle Games definetly gave a new spin to the DJ Hero gameplay. The Freestyle sections are very cool and the new option to sing or rap is great if you don't want to spin the records. A guaranteed party hit!- XGN

Mario Kart 8 is one of the best Wii U games out on the market so far. Everything you would expect in a Nintendo game is in it. The lack of innovation is probably the only downside of this game, nevertheless this could be a worldwide hit when it arrives at the stores.- XGN

NHL 10 is a very good game, but it misses big innovations. For the people who don’t own a ice-hockey game, this game is definitely worth buying. But for the people that already own NHL 09, this is only a small upgrade and not really worth the money.- XGN

The graphics and the sound in BioShock 2 are well done, but the gameplay hasn't changed much since the first title. The story and the atmosphere in Rapture are still the best part of the game and therefore the main reason to buy this work of art.- XGN

The original Nier missed that finishing touch in the gameplay department. With Platinum Games on board for the sequel Nier Automata became an absolute masterpiece. The combat, world, music, and story fit so well together that it would be a crime to sit this one out.- XGN

It Takes Two is an amazing game that keeps players on their toes with its impeccable pacing in both story and gameplay. This 3D platformer mixes genres every step of the way in a magical ride through different locals. At the center, though, is a great love story full of heartwarming moments and plenty of laughs to boot.- XGN

What you end up with is an almost perfect game within the MetroidVania genre. If you have to mention something to blame the game, it is perhaps that more could have been added in the form of online or multiplayer action, but even that is a conscious choice. Developer Moon studios knows what it is good at and opts for that. While playing, you never feel that you are missing anything.- XGN

With the new Assassin’s Creed we find ourselves in the Caribbean with a new main character called Edward Kenway. Black Flag focuses on the sea battles we saw in the third game and continues with this, with some new additions. Overall, you’ll be busy for a while – 40 hours, give or take – but the story isn’t that compelling.- XGN
