Despite accurately interpreting a respected franchise and having solid foundations for a fighting game, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle delivers a slither of content that is not only disappointingly lacklustre. but also unwelcoming for newcomers and littered with inconsistencies and glitches that further hinder the quality of the experience. Local multiplayer is where this may redeem itself, but even that's stretching it for a retail game. For the price, it's not something I'd recommend.

Struggling is a valiant attempt at a difficult physics-based game that suffers from poor execution, despite some visual polish. That’s not to say that it isn’t difficult, because it is. It’s just not that fun.

On paper, The Elder Scrolls: Blades proposes to deliver a light version of the seminal The Elder Scrolls RPG experience. Despite providing some solid gameplay mechanics, it is plagued by poor performance, an always-online limitation, and predatory microtransactions.

There are many platformers out there deserving of a remake. Sadly, Pac-Man World Re-PAC doesn’t do much to earn one. It feels dated, with uninspired gameplay and basic level design. A few fun bosses and Pac-Man mazes can’t save it.

Hungry Baby Party Treats actually came from the mind of a human being. Keeping that in mind throughout the experience makes the whole thing feel even more crazy than it already is. You’ve not played much like this.

Thanks to its unsettling atmosphere and sorrowful narrative, Never Again offers players a haunting experience. Its inconsistent gameplay and unintuitive puzzle design will lead to plenty of frustration, though, so keep this in mind if you’re on the fence.

The concept of Trailblazers makes it a racing game like no other, and its coloured trail mechanic certainly offers a unique experience. But loose controls and dead multiplayer mean this isn’t a great package.

Tower of Babel – no mercy is a fun party game with friends for a short while, but then everything becomes very repetitive. With little in terms of variation between its modes, you’re not likely to be playing this for very long.

The newest addition to Forever Entertainment’s microscopic being simulator franchise, Sparkle 4 Tales, isn’t that much new. Just like its predecessors, it still provides a kind of contemplative experience, but it fails on presenting any kind of interesting tale.

Stab! Stab! Stab! has truly hit the mark with it’s gory, simple couch co-op mayhem, but the lack of content and some serious bugs are a stab in the back to any fun we might have had.

Overall, EGGLIA Rebirth is a fun and simple RPG game that is let down by its grindy and unnecessary gameplay mechanics.

Football Manager 2020 Touch is slightly better than last year’s game, but will still only appeal to its niche Dukla Prague away-kit-loving audience, with the FIFA series mopping up the rest. There’s no need for VAR to see that.

The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk is not much of an improvement on the first game. Unfortunately, the gameplay just failed to click with me. Fans of adventure games may want to check it out, though.

Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands proposes to blend farming sim elements with an adventure focused on exploration. Unfortunately, due to its simple mechanics and limiting stamina system, it falls short on both of its main purposes.

Gimmicks and references can only carry a game so far, and in What the Golf?, what’s lying beneath these is lacking the substance of a truly worthwhile experience. With its higher stakes and unpredictability, though, the multiplayer mode shows more promise.

Clumsy Rush is a party game that needed more to make it stand out. Without an actual single player mode, frustrating inaccuracies in the walking mechanics, and being limited to two at a time when playing as a group make it less than ideal.

Syberia is the first in a trilogy of puzzle / adventure games. It delivers a Victorian charm backed up with great music and images with a simplistic puzzle-solving approach. Though I'd like to recommend it, the price of the game means that you’re better off looking on other platforms.

Paradox Soul is nothing to write home about, but neither will it leave you disappointed beyond measure. If there was ever a game to perfectly embody a 2.5/5, this is it.

Invisiballs can offer the opportunity for some clever tactical gameplay, but it's one of those games which is only as good as its players can produce.

Despite the very pleasing sound and visuals, Slain is just too unforgiving to be as fun as it should be. I'm glad I've finished it, because those damned flying enemies swooping down on me are giving me nightmares.

Despite the name, Poker Hands isn’t really about poker. It is, in fact, a bite-sized puzzle game that plays with some of the rules from poker. The result isn’t much more than a pastime, and won’t really appeal to fans of puzzlers or poker.

Customisable game modes and the option to create your own stages give Ultimate Chicken Horse a nice starting point but the gameplay on offer does wear a little stale after a few rounds.

It may look the part, and it may even manage a reasonable shot at a puzzle platformer, but YesterMorrow’s parts don’t really combine smoothly enough to produce the gameplay experience that this sprawling, challenging adventure deserves.

Midnight Deluxe goes for the 2D arcade golf mechanics and even manages to find some creative levels that utilise them well but a lack of refined control and limited playing options leave this game failing to fulfil any potential that's on offer.

The Hong Kong Massacre is a challenging game that can often leave you feeling frustrated. Action movie fans may find enjoyment, but issues such as a lacking story let it down overall, and it’s hard to recommend at the current price.

Gerrrms is a pretty unique party game based upon swinging around points on the battlefield to change direction. Despite numerous game modes, everything feels rather similar, though. It’s not a long-term success.

Cannibal Cuisine is an entertaining game and great fun if you’re of the right mindset, but its bugs spoil the party and the niche appeal leaves it difficult to recommend for widespread consumption. Not one for the family dinner table.

Bee Simulator is a charming game, but one that never fully realises its potential as a true simulator. While at times gameplay was enjoyable, the overall experience felt limited and the experience was more akin to an interactive educational tale.
