In Football Manager 2020 Touch you'll speed through the seasons, skipping the pre-match proceedings and media circus to focus your attention on the core elements; squad building, tactics and Match Day.

Even Match Days can be fast-tracked with an 'Instant Result' feature that accelerates your climb up the table, leaving you plenty of time to tinker and tweak in-between.

Whilst you're trading depth for speed, you won't lose any detail, as Touch packs the full power of Football Manager's world-renowned database. The wonderkids are all there - you just don't have to wait as long to see them reach their potential.

Ultimately, Football Manager 2020 Touch succeeds in two ways. Firstly, it allows people like me who enjoy Football Manager titles to get back into them without sacrificing all the time needed to play them. Secondly, it succeeds in being a really good football management simulator in general, one that is easily the best ever created for a console. It has enough new additions and tweaks this year to warrant a purchase over last year’s version, and it also feels a bit more feature-packed without ever straying too far into the content-heavy heights of the full-fat PC version.

This latest one is the most accessible and easy to follow yet, but it is still a spreadsheet simulator, and it services a very niche audience.

If you don't have enough time to play Football Manager 2020, the Touch version may just be what you need to start being a Special One again.

Despite some technical issues here and there, Sports Interactive have managed to retain the feel of Football Manager on the Switch.

The third Football Manager on Switch is a relatively minor upgrade to an already entertaining and compelling game. The controls are still unwieldy and the new features, while welcome, aren't exactly transformative: as such, we'd usually recommend you consider buying last year's game for a slightly lower price. However, since Sega's pulled the 2018 and 2019 editions from the eShop, you don't have much choice but to pay full price for this one.

Football Manager 2020 Touch is slightly better than last year’s game, but will still only appeal to its niche Dukla Prague away-kit-loving audience, with the FIFA series mopping up the rest. There’s no need for VAR to see that.
