It’s not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination. Syberia 2 takes Syberia’s template and continues Kate Walker’s adventure. The puzzles swing from overly simplistic to ridiculously cryptic, with very little to give a sense of purpose. It’s also pricey, but if you’re invested in the story and absolutely must have it on the Switch then this is the right place.

Clive ‘N’ Wrench is a love letter to 90s nostalgia and 3D platforming. It gets a lot right but falls short of providing the intended experience due to needless bugs and glitches.

PayDay 2 is a solid port that runs surprisingly well on the Switch. Sadly, that doesn't mean the game is actually enjoyable as numerous problems with gameplay, controls and AI result in a lacklustre experience.

Bash the Bear is fun for a good chunk of its playtime but the novelty wears thin by the end. It’s likely to go for cheap in an eShop sale someday soon.

Jisei: The First Case HD has the ingredients for something better, but a failure to dive deeper into what makes the story unique means that you’re likely to be left underwhelmed by this visual novel.

Frederic 2 offers more of the same from the first game. It's nice to have them both on Switch, and at an affordable rate given the sale price. They're both short games, though, so a bundle would be welcome.

Monster Truck Championship is a variable ride. There are some interesting management elements and truck upgrades to explore, but the actual racing feels oddly lightweight. Fans of the source material may find more to enjoy.

Doughlings: Arcade is a functional brick-breaking game that means well, but its execution is poor and leads to repetitive gameplay.

As far as the match-3 genre goes, Magicolors offers a unique approach with its isometric puzzle rooms. Sadly, problematic controls get in the way, turning this into an experience akin to shovelware found on mobile platforms.

Green Game is a let down with its badly implemented 'time' mechanic. Conceptually interesting on paper, but it just doesn't deliver on its promises. But if you desire counter-intuitive touchscreen controls and really want to punish yourself, you may as well do it with some catchy jazz.

Word Puzzles by POWGI is for the grandmas and grandads out there, and even the mums and dads too. Chances are the more youthful won't be going anywhere near it, but it's an easy time waster.

Existing fans of the Hack & Slash genre may find some enjoyment in Nights of Azure 2, but what awaits for newcomers is a by the numbers hack and slash game that does nothing to make itself unique.

It’s tough to tell whether it’s the genre itself, or the execution of this particular game, but it feels like something you’d have been playing on a primitive computer of some ten to fifteen years ago. Each passing floor of the tower looks the same, with only the new enemy models distracting from that monotony. It’s one for the genre enthusiasts, that’s for sure, but your average gamer isn’t going to take a lot from this. Apart from the nightmares caused by running away from monsters along those dim corridors, that is.

One Escape is a mildly charming but ultimately disappointing game, with a few too many frustrating elements to make it worth a purchase. It’s not criminal, but it is pretty underwhelming.

From a gameplay standpoint, despite some rough edges on its crafting systems, Radiation Island delivers a truly entertaining gameplay loop within the survival genre. However, even with its ambitiously huge environments, the game is overshadowed by its shallow technical aspects.

Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet is a short, light visual novel. It’s a passable choice if you’re looking for something in the genre, but its fairly flimsy narrative won’t win it pride of place in your collection.

Tilt Pack is one of those easy to pick up, hard to master games which can become super addictive for a time. The problem here is that time doesn’t last long enough as there isn’t too much new to do once you’ve played the game’s two similar modes.

The novel it was inspired by is known the world over. Sadly, MazM: Jekyll and Hyde won’t get the same acclaim. Comprising style without substance, this adventure game-turned-visual novel leaves a lot to be desired and is devilishly disappointing.

Things are just a little too repetitive here for a recommendation. For what it's worth, Gunhouse does offer some fun, but it's not the sort of earth-shattering experience to fork out your extra dosh to have it on Switch.

While a lot of the basic elements are present, Last Encounter lacks any killer selling points that make it worthy of a recommendation. While building up your ships power with temporary or permanent perks brings enough fun for a few blasts, the bland presentation and performance issues mean there are much better games for you to spend your money on.

Soulblight won't be for everyone. It's for those who enjoy making use of their RPG skills to navigate tight roguelike environments. But it's all rather samey and is unlikely to attract a new audience to the genre.

Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 3 - Vehicle Kit is undoubtedly a clever idea that genuinely works. Sadly, once you've gotten past the actual building stage of the game, you'll find there's precious little to keep you occupied for long.

Splash Cars is a simple game let down by a lack of variety. It’s short and cheap, and won’t leave much of an impression on most players. Still, there’s a decent amount of fun to be found here.

This pasta based platformer spends more time trying to be funny than being fun to control, but somehow doesn’t quite manage either. There’s some laughs to be had, but the ingredients here don’t work well enough together to make it worth a dip.

Although the premise of Pool Panic sounds great, the novel ideas and craziness soon wear thin and seem sparse at times amongst the game's 100 stages. I felt the single player mode outstayed its welcome and would have been better with fewer stages and more time spent on fine-tuning the mechanics. More frustrating than fun, and don't get me started on those quick-footed colour balls! At least the multiplayer mode provides fun when with friends!

Baron: Fur Is Gonna Fly fails to capitalise on the initial charm of its characters and soundtrack, with players likely to tire of the somewhat simplistic gameplay after just a few rounds. With a few more tweaks and better plane visibility, Dogmelon Games could have saved this title from a crash landing.

While adventure RPG Fairy Knights puts a puzzler twist on the genre and features a cute art style, the uniqueness ends there. Little brainpower is necessary to overcome the combat, let alone drink in the bland environment and generic plot.

Elements of other video games have been resurrected to craft Ghost Sweeper, but the result is lacking. The game offers some thought-provoking challenges for the committed adventurer, but – like its resident ghosts – it’s all a bit soulless.
