Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX looks beautiful in all of its lush hand-drawn glory, but the gameplay is still the same repetitive fare that the series has always offered up. There’s a ton of game here, but that’s if your enthusiasm lasts long enough.

A Hero and A Garden is a simple yet charming point and click adventure with a meaningful story to tell. It doesn’t last long and you might not come back to it ever again, but its charm warrants an hour of your time.

Maneater is far from the fin-tastic open-world RPG we all want it to be, but when treated as the goofy shark simulator that it is there’s a lot of fun and laughs to be had. The ocean is your playground.

Summer in Mara certainly looks great and tells a heartwarming story, but players will soon realize that the game consists of nothing but chores, chores, and more chores. It’s enough to make you take up gardening.

Trine doesn’t feel dated despite the near decade that has passed since its original release, though there are still things that need ironing out. With more Trine to come on Switch, hopefully the newer titles provide rectification.

Another fun point and click from Artifex Mundi, Nightmares from the Deep 2 is short but entertaining. It’s not something you’ve never played before, but it does what it does well.

80’s Overdrive gets enough of its core concept right to provide an enjoyable, highly playable racing experience. It’s unambitious, and the overall package is lacking in polish and reasons to keep playing. But there’s plenty of fun while it lasts.

Random Heroes: Gold Edition certainly has its charms, though chances are it won’t impress those who want an original platformer that pushes the genre in exciting in new directions. That said, it’s a perfect entry point for newcomers.

The original Boulder Dash format has been given a buff and a sheen. This anniversary edition presents an accessible remake that is lacking in soul. Perhaps a little more digging would have unearthed more of a gem.

Damaged In Transit is a fun but very challenging puzzler. It may not be staggeringly innovative, and it’s certainly too difficult in parts, but two-player co-op mode is a delight. Sadly, it’s also a bit overpriced.

Lost Orbit offers a solid experience, but intermittent performance and some curious design decisions take some of the shine off this title. Still, with over fifty individual levels plus a time trial mode, there’s no shortage of content on display.

Roombo: First Blood is as gory as the Sly Stallone film from which its name is inspired, and it’s almost as fun. It has more potential than content, however, so we’d like to see more from this in the future.

Silent World is a short, extremely slow-paced 2D adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The challenge is minimal, but hardcore fans could get some enjoyment without hurting their wallet.

LEGO Bricktales attempts to capture the excitement that accompanies building LEGO and certainly comes close, however, the experience is unfortunately marred by poor controls and unremarkable puzzles.

As a walking simulator, Shape of the World delivers a more simplistic experience from the gameplay perspective. As a relaxing exploration experience, though, it delivers something unique, with a world that grows around you.

Its single player may be repetitive, but as a local multiplayer game, Super Volley Blast is accessible sports fun with a surprisingly deep character customisation system, utilised hilariously by the developer. If only the actual gameplay had the same depth.

Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix is a fun, tactical game that is ultimately let down by its stereotypical, plain characters and a dull storyline. Fans who appreciate strategy should give it a try, but shouldn’t get their hopes up for anything beyond the game being 'good'.

Save Me Mr. Tako! succeeds in its aim of recreating a Game Boy game. Unfortunately, that is all that it succeeds in. It is a competent game but relies too much on cheap deaths to pad out its mediocre gameplay.

We’ve all played a game like Boom Ball: Boost Edition, but we haven’t done it in 3D. You’ll have flashback to Wii Sports when your family is gathered around the TV waving Joy-Cons at the balls, but the best way to play it is sat-down with the touch-screen.

Demon’s Crystals packs in some addictive multiplayer options, varying difficulty settings and an engaging Arcade mode which you can enjoy by yourself or with a group of friends. It can get a little confusing with the amount of enemies and bullet fire on-screen at one time as to where certain hazards and even your own character’s are, so pay close attention!

Puzzle Puppers on Nintendo Switch is a delightful puzzle game to pass the time with, and is a solid port of the mobile game of the same name. With a deceptively simple concept, colourful visuals, and upbeat (yet soothing) music, you can spend many hours working your way through the various levels and feeding those stretchy long bois. Just try not to get too frustrated when you (inevitably) accidentally undo your progress on a level every once in a while.

Giraffe and Annika is fun, cute, touching and will fill the cockles of your heart with a warm gooey goodness. The perfect purchase, but mainly just for younger gamers. There’s also a physical release, including a collector’s edition with extra goodies.

Sundered is a solid metroidvania with gorgeous visuals and a strong progression system. Unfortunately, the roguelike design and ongoing waves of enemies let it down somewhat.

Smoke and Sacrifice takes the gameplay loop of survival games and adds meaning with a poignant narrative. It presents a unique and oppressive world to be explored and exploited, but a repetitive and busywork crafting system strips part of the fun.

INK is a highly enjoyable platformer with a strong core mechanic of inking platforms in order to progress. Sadly, there's just not enough of it, and most players will breeze through it in just a few hours.

Fun, creative, and challenging boss battles dampened by outdated controls. Frustrating fun.

TOHU is a decent point-and-click puzzler, with attractive visuals and some fun mini-games. A lack of Switch-specific controls and an over-reliance on trial and error hold it back, but patient younger players will enjoy themselves.
