The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder shifts the focus away from the single-player adventure to introduce a set of multiplayer-oriented minigames that push the experience closer to party-game territory. The experiment works, but the limited amount of new content makes this update hard to recommend to everyone. New players should not hesitate, as this is the best version of the game available, while returning fans will enjoy it mainly if they appreciate quick, couch-multiplayer sessions or simply love Wonder enough to revisit it. There’s no doubt that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is the version newcomers to the saga should aim for to fully experience Aloy’s debut journey. This “refresh,” however—despite the question of whether a 2017 game truly needed it—focuses purely on technical enhancements, echoing the current video game industry’s fixation on lighting effects and photorealism, often at the expense of gameplay depth. The result is a visually stunning work, borrowing the technical assets from Horizon Forbidden West, yet turning a blind eye to the gameplay improvements introduced by its sequel. It retains certain gameplay choices and a clunky verticality that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had rendered outdated upon Zero Dawn’s release in 2017, making these aspects feel particularly aged. This is, after all, just a remaster, so perhaps it’s acceptable as it stands. However, by dressing Zero Dawn in Forbidden West’s refined graphics, the game ends up serving as more of a reminder of the advancements its sequel brought to the series than as a true celebration of Zero Dawn itself. It’s a remaster with a fresh look, yet proudly—and stubbornly—remains the same at its core.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a game that, while solid and captivating, doesn’t quite recapture the groundbreaking impact of its predecessor. It attempts to offer a fresh take on the series, but does so a bit too conservatively, lacking the sense of novelty that defined the bold direction of DOOM Eternal. While the deliberate pacing of combat and the intricacy of the environments have their own appeal, the absence of that dynamic drive leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste. Frostpunk 2 puts its gameplay at the service of storytelling and, through relatively simple game mechanics, manages to make the player experience strong emotions and a constant moral dilemma. From a gameplay perspective, it is a fairly straightforward city builder, but the political and social dynamics are where the essence of the game created by 11 Bit Studios truly lies. Frostpunk 2 dismantles any notion of social utopia and shows how humans are inherently irrational beings, ready to self-destruct. The limitations imposed on the player’s decision-making power work perfectly within this framework, forcing the player to make difficult and uncomfortable decisions, offering a much more satisfying and refined level of strategy compared to traditional management games.

Destiny 2 is a great game, better than the first one because of its many more end-game activities, all well-structured and organized. The story is amazing, made of very beautiful cut-scenes and characters written along the lines of most contemporary movies. Unfortunately the difficulty is low and the progression of the Guardian could be very quick and easy. Despite this, the game is great to play and share with friends: waiting on the raids and the trials of the nine, we could easily say that Destiny 2 will be loved by fans and newbies.

It's impossible not to get caught in Dredge's clutches: supernatural horror, dry and fascinating narrative and an intoxicating gameplay loop make Black Salt Games' first effort an indie to remember.

Remnant 2 is the classic "bigger, bolder, better" sequel, that iterates on the formula of the previous game making it much better in almost every way. It's a very solid effort and a recommended option for a lot of different categories: looter shooter fans, Soulslike lovers and people who like to replay their games as long as possible.

Despite the lack of innovation, all fans of the series will enjoy this seventh chapter and also in general 3DS owners should consider buying it, as it's one of the best chapters of the entire saga.
