This game has a few glimmers of hope, but it needs a proper chassis before this becomes a good car, so to speak.

Spuds Unearthed has a lot of cool elements, but they unfortunately don’t add up to a very compelling game. Plagued by overly complex interface elements and a very flimsy structure, the core gameplay just isn’t interesting enough to keep players coming back for more.

Falling short in just about every way a title of this ilk can, everything Super Dungeon Bros attempts to do, the three year old Diablo III does better. Avoid.

A fantastic spin-off entry to the main series, packed with great combat and stunning visuals.

The absence of the practiced creative hands of previous Transformers developer, High Moon Studios, is keenly felt as Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark has sadly turned out to be both the weakest Transformers licensed title and the most uninspired third-person shooter in sometime.

Between the game breaking bugs, the glitches, the recycled moves, grating commentary, stale presentation and now the unneeded content barriers and paywalls, I have exhausted my patience with this series. WWE 2K20 is the worst wrestling game to come along in a decade and is in desperate need of a ground up rebuild.

While lacking in the charm department, VR Karts captures the fun and chaos of kart-racing really well in virtual reality.

Enchanted Portals takes the foundations of a familiar game in both style and substance, yet fails to provide a compelling experience in either regard. There's clear effort being put into this game in terms of the art and animation, yet the gameplay feels far more unpolished than appearances would have you believe. Random level designs and frustrating enemy placement leads to a game that irritated far more than I would have hoped, with a good amount of my losses not feeling close to my fault.

A trope-demolishing RPG that tries to be bold and creative by paying homage to 80s classic Japanese animation.

An utterly pointless spiritual successor to Crazy Taxi which adds nothing new to an ageing arcade game and somehow manages to remove what made the original so playable in the first place. A missed opportunity to improve or update the gameplay renders this instantly moribund.

A lacklustre RPG that lacks originality and playability, avoid at all costs.

Poorly presented, and lacking in mode variety, Rugby 18 is salvaged by the fact that it’s actually a pretty decent representation of rugby union on the pitch. It may not be the definitive version of the sport that the PS4 needs, but it’s easily the best available.

XIII is a disastrous remake that probably never should have been made. The franchise's cult classic status officially has a major blemish in this remake. It's almost impossible to find anything positive to say about it because every aspect is just so broken and bland. If you want to get into the franchise, read the graphic novel but do yourself a favor and avoid this remake at all costs.

Gungrave VR isn't a very good VR title, It isn't that good of a game in general, With all that it tries to do it doesn't do much of anything well. Not only is Gunrave VR a poor game its a poor use of an excellent license.

Ultimately, the different modes are a shallow vehicle for allowing players to control memorable characters from the franchise's history. There's unfortunately no tangible benefit to playing as favorites like Oddjob, or anyone else, for that matter.

God of War set the bar for this genre and Clash of the Titans takes it ten years back.

Babylon's Fall flat out needed more time. The graphics make the experience just horrible at times, with the filter even giving me headaches. The combat can be enjoyable, though there is a grind to it, it's something I still enjoy along with the music. Beyond that however, there are still just too many aspects of this game that can make your time with it headache-inducing more often than not.

The best thing about Iron Man 2 are the cut scenes, where some competent writing and voice acting makes the game seem like it just might be worth ploughing through, even though it isn’t.

Dollhouse takes good ideas and puts them behind clashing mechanics. The randomly-generated landscapes all look the same, causing many issues with navigating and retrieving much-needed items. This pool of ideas lacks cohesion, and the minuscule payoff makes the tedium feel like a complete waste of time. Very little works in Dollhouse's favor.

Painkiller: Hell & Damnation is an old-school FPS that is sadly dated, boring and tedious to play.

The only interesting part of Quantum Error is the premise, hinting at some intriguing cosmic horror ideas. Unfortunately, it's buried underneath rubble filled with bad controls, janky performance, and humdrum gameplay. Unless a complete overhaul could be implemented, there's no way a patch could save this game from itself.

An original idea that takes a turn for the worse. No strategy, depth or replayability in a game that forces the player to drive and watch the grass grow for hours on end.

Escape Dead Island is a lurching, rotting horror that wouldn't look out of place shuffling about in the apocalypse.

Tamarin has a quirky and fun concept (a monkey with a gun), but its poor 3D platforming, inability to inform the player properly about objectives and where to go, and dated look with bugs make it a title that few people have any good reason to play, especially when there are much better games of the genre out there right now on PS4.

The stories and voice acting in CSI: Fatal Conspiracy are great, but the actual gameplay falls short.

Troll and I is ambitious but rubbish, with flawed mechanics and weak storytelling.

Zombieland Double Tap Road Trip completely strips away the charm and wit which makes the films so endearing and replaces it with cheesy mind-numbing dialog sprinkled with dull gameplay. It's basically an overpriced two-hour promo for the movie that has very little to offer unless you are a hardcore fan of twin-stick shooters or Abigail Breslin.

If Umbrella Corps was a free-to-play title, it'd probably be a mildly inoffensive novelty, but it's not. It's a costly mess of confused messaging that adds almost nothing (bar a ‘shocking' revelation about an established character that's about as shocking as the Scottish Premier League table) to the Resident Evil universe. The game's lack of quality is almost dwarfed by how utterly pointless it is.

With poor visuals, flawed gameplay and a narrative that fails to adhere closely to the source material, Deathly Hallows Part 1 is a colossal disappointment for gamers and Harry Potter aficionados' alike.

What could have been a cheese-filled celebration of the history of one of the most famous movie monsters around instead winds up as a tragic and premature obituary.

Agony is not a good game. It feels as if the developers just gave up after such a long development cycle. Filled with bugs, boring and infuriating stealth and chase sequences and repetitive puzzles it's very hard to find anything to enjoy in Agony.

The sort of crushing disappointment that only comes around once in a while, Left Alive feels like an emaciated, innovation bereft meditation on Metal Gear Solid and in matching up so poorly with its inspiration, provides the Front Mission franchise with arguably its weakest entry in years.

A fine recreation of trivia with a real focus on the questions, That Trivia Game is best enjoyed with friends as its limited additional content and modes will struggle to sustain the interest of a lone player.

A really bad experience that should be left in the Dungeon from once it came.

There's no denying that Past Cure is born from lofty ambitions. Regrettably, those ambitions are not joined with the necessary skill or understanding needed to make Past Cure anything close to a competent, coherent experience. A messy bore of a game that vomits its incoherent nonsense on your shoes as it rambles on mindlessly for ten minutes about why that's important.

Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is a fun title for as long as it lasts and a forgettable one once it ends.

Kung Fu Rider is a bland racing-inspired game that quickly becomes frustrating with its poor use of Move and the dreadful controls. The game would have been better suited for a standard controller.

Eternity The Last Unicorn is a hot mess of a game with old school graphics and game mechanics that feels more dated than a launch title from the original PS1.

Shellshock 2 will shock you, but for all the wrong reasons. Even if you're a fan of the genre, it's a technically inept and totally unenjoyable experience.

Much like the namesake character himself, The Lord of The Rings: Gollum couldn't be saved from what it became. Frustrating platforming coupled with boring gameplay and cheap ways to die make any experience hard to play. Unfortunately, the intriguing setting and lore exploration can't come close to overshadowing the game's fundamental issues.

A train-wreck spin off of a series that deserved so much better, Fellowship of Evil is an unholy combination of so many undercooked elements that it's any wonder the game made it to release. While Overlord certainly deserves better there is someone else who does too – you. Avoid.

Dawn of Fear tries to bring back the nostalgia of classic survival horror but fails in almost every way. The poor controls lead to most of its problems and a lack of necessary mechanics creates problems that shouldn't exist in this day and age from the simplest of games.

The best first-person shooter on a portable but it's not exactly a high yardstick.

[A] subpar, scare-free effort.

Just about every aspect of DayZ is in dire need of some degree of polish, however, if you persist (and you should) a deep and ultimately ingenious title lay underneath that places a premium on player-made stories. All the same be aware that in its current state, it will take a remarkable degree of patience to get that most from DayZ - such quantities that more than a few folk simply won't have.

Where The Bees Make Honey is a frustrating and boredom-inducing puzzle game that suffers from an unthinkable amount of technical issues, poor controls, unclear objectives, and bad level design. Any heart that is put into the narrative is wiped away by these issues and made me want to quit playing, minutes after starting the game up.

A[n] oily, toxic pool of bad ideas, half-baked mechanics, and shoddy design masquerading as a tough retro-inspired football game. Kick Off Revival is just plain awful.

Stray Souls barely works well enough to finish, but it lacks the kind of refinement and effort needed to bring together all of the ideas presented in this game. Doubly so, the technical issues make an already fragmented narrative feel even more disjointed. Even for people who enjoy bad horror, this is a hard sell.

Despite being successful as something to joyously mock for its absurdity, The Quiet Man is a catastrophic failure on every level. It’s perhaps telling that the nicest thing you can say about it is that everybody involved got a lovely selection of clothing out of it.

Basement Crawl tries hard to recapture the magic of Bomberman but has a hard time with its horror theme, lack of a real tutorial, and online connectivity issues. Overall, Basement Crawl can be a fun game but it's hard to justify a purchase when half of the game just doesn't want to work.

Greyhill incident is an unpleasant and downright laughable attempt at a sci-fi survival horror game. Rancid dialogue, shonky game design, wafer-thin substance, and a complete lack of cohesive storytelling are just the tip of a very large iceberg of problems.

That Afro Samurai 2's first episode gets so much wrong in such a small amount of time speaks volumes about its laundry list of problems. A disastrous experience all round.

An alpha build masquerading as a finished product. If you enjoy creating your own insane motorbike tracks then you could have fun, but racing them will just be eternal torment.

While I had some issues with the soundtrack – as the music can get overly repetitive at the best of times - the graphics are pretty good for a handheld, with the plastic models and environments looking quite impressive during the replays.

Worms is a great game of strategy but, for us, the nostalgia has worn off. Do we really need three Worms games packaged together?

For very little money, if you like slide puzzle games then you'll love Beats Slider. If you don't then you probably should avoid it. Beats Slider is available now exclusively on PlayStation Mobile.

A decent puzzle game which is perfectly tailored to the pick-up-and-play mentality.

A fast-paced strategy game for adrenaline junkies wanting instant gratification for their victories, and no time invested in their soul crushing losses. It serves as a litmus test for those new to the strategy genre and wanting a game without complicated gameplay to make their brain explode.

Pro Foosball is an innovative, fun, and surprisingly addictive version of its tabletop namesake.

Despite its shortcomings, this expansion is a great addition to any fan of Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planewalkers.

A great concept that chose the wrong genre. Fun for those looking for a Dead Nation type of game, but it lacks the edge of your seat, lightning gameplay of the former to keep gamers engaged for long.

An accomplished adaptation of one of history's most timeless board games, Backgammon Blitz just falls short of being the definitive version of the game on account of its lack of cross-save functionality and redundant Blitz mode.

Falling Skies looks terrible, yet still offers a serviceable, if pale, imitation of an XCOM game.

The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season on PS4 is the definitive version of this stunning, narrative-driven adventure.

5 Star Wrestling delivers a clever and refreshing take on the genre in the ring, but is massively hampered by its mountain of drawbacks and flaws outside of it. Fight your way through that and there’s a satisfying depiction of how wrestling works waiting to be discovered.

The price point is perfect to explore a new sports game in MLB 15: The Show, and those looking for a concentrated baseball experience on PS Vita will be more than pleased, even if multiplayer is all but absent from the final product.

A charming and well-constructed take on the twin stick shooter, Flame Over endears itself greatly with easy to play, yet difficult to master mechanics which neatly avoid the frustration usually associated with roguelike titles.

Inside My Radio is an often clever, creative and fun platformer/rhythm-action hybrid that perhaps pulls too many of its rabbits out of its hat before the final act. While it suffers for being a bit short, and for not always blending the two genres as well as it could, it does have an incredibly vibrant identity of its very own, and that’s something worth praising.

An endless runner that at least dares to try some different ideas, Corridor Z still unfortunately remains very much stuck in the mud of its two overplayed tropes found in its chosen genre and theme. It is, however, still a fairly serviceable runner that’ll whittle away a few minutes a day for a short time.

Prominence Poker is surprisingly enjoyable as a casual, yet competitive, multiplayer game.

A better effort this time round, but it’s still not enough to make Now That’s What I Call Sing 2 a truly great karaoke game. Pick it up cheap enough and it’ll serve you up a nice safe slice of warbling wonder for family gatherings and parties alike.

Kismet looks great and is a fun 15 minute experience for the low price point, but ultimately it lacks depth and interaction.

Rivals makes Rock Band 4 a much better experience for the hardcore, whilst throwing a juicy story mode bone to the more casual player. As expansions go, this is pretty much how you should go about it.

If you're looking to immerse yourself in a meticulously rendered world for a few minutes at a time, or just relax for a bit after a stressful day, then Perfect has you covered. If however, you're expecting anything, anything more than that then Perfect simply doesn't do enough to maintain interest.

Planet 2000 isn’t just an unexciting and unspectacular vehicular combat game, it’s a poorly-conceived one. It can be offensively bad on certain levels, mostly the ones that see this as a PS4 release in 2017, but for the most part, its biggest crime is that it’s just subpar and boring.

A novel take on the first-person horror mould, Sylvio does, on occasion, bring some unsettling moments of paranormal investigation. Unfortunately Sylvio also brings dire, uninventive visuals, a dreary protagonist, and wholly unnecessary combat to nullify any promise it may have had.

A top-down survival horror that feels as fresh as it does familiar. Every failure is lined with a lesson made of silver, and the sense of impending doom is kept tantalisingly close to hand at all times. Subterrain is a fine example of using tired genre tropes effectively.

MX Nitro needed something striking to get noticed, and it just doesn’t have that special spark. It remains a good motocross game, but one that consistently sits in the middle of the mud-sprayed pack.

The PSVR update to Dirt Rally not only serves to considerably refresh Codemasters consummate 2016 racer, but also give PSVR owners their next must-have purchase. Dirt Rally on PSVR is utterly essential.

Valhalla Hills tries to bring The Settlers II gameplay up to snuff but while it improves in some areas, it completely negates some aspects on what made The Settlers II so much fun in the first place. Building and autonomy is done decently well but with the lack of continuation and multiplayer makes it pale in comparison. Its price for entry is very worrying too and doesn’t help matters.

The Ringed City is a fine ending to a memorable franchise, making the Fire Fades Edition a must-buy for anyone looking to jump into it head first.

Overall, Eastshade Studio has a good setting primed ready for their main game, Eastshade. The environments are beautiful and the interactions are cleverly done, let’s just hope that they sort out the mouth masks, the stuttering, blurring, and the framerate before Eastshade arrives.

If you’ve got the patience and understand that Euro Fishing: Urban Edition is a challenging true simulation of the popular sport, then there’s no doubt that you’ll get a kick out of catching fish in its beautiful waters. Personally, we found it a bit boring.

A great new use of the PSVR. The Monkey King is a great example of taking advantage of PlayStation VR to do something other than play games. Digital Domains first incursion could use some improvements but it's a great first attempt.

Non-PSVR owners should be joyous; one of the better space shooters of recent times can now be enjoyed without Sony’s shiny virtual reality apparatus. For PSVR folks meanwhile, EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone represents the definitive version of CCP’s VR space blaster.

Much more of a streamlined experience than a game, Everest VR provides an intimate and well-crafted perspective on Earth's largest mountain.

With a wonderful story to experience, memorable and unique characters to meet, a trap-laden, monster-infested castle to explore, and multiple endings to discover, The Count Lucanor delivers a satisfyingly scary adventure. Though there are still a few bugs to be squashed (most have been taken care of with a day one patch), the port handles fairly well and is definitely worth checking out for any puzzle and/or horror indie game fans.

Let Them Come takes a singular concept and wraps a whole game around it to great effect. Let Them Come might not be the deepest shooter around, but its bite-sized morsels of alien blasting fun will assuredly keep you coming back for more.

Aqua TV is simple and fun to use, meaning that kids can enjoy themselves too building their own virtual aquarium and then watching the little fishes and sea creatures come to life. It's quite relaxing too.

Timothy vs the Aliens is a sub-mediocre platformer shooter whose own tragedy is that, for anyone except for the youngsters, nothing of any real substance lurks under its frequently formidable and beguiling veneer.

The Pillars of the Earth Book Two carries on the great work established by the previous episode, providing a beautifully written narrative, interesting characters and meaningful player choice against the backdrop of some of the most sumptuous locations ever depicted in an adventure game. If you haven't already, now is the time to stop sleeping on The Pillars of the Earth.

A fiendishly cunning effort that oozes challenge and style, DEADBOLT is a must-have for fans of stealth puzzlers everywhere.

It may be relatively cheap, and alluring to trophy-hunting fiends, but is losing a portion of your humanity really worth playing a game as despicably dire as Little Adventure on the Prairie?

Eye of the Storm is a tremendous finale to The Pillars of the Earth on PS4 and one which underscores the series commitment to grounded storytelling, sophisticated characters and mature storylines.

Dead Land may be an endless runner, but you'll definitely want it to end. It's cheap and far from cheerful.

This fast-paced multiplayer pinball game is a blast with eight players online. Easy to pick-up-and-play, but challenging to master, gameplay is super addictive. Once you start to play, it's hard not to keep coming back for more.
