Greyhill Incident is, by no means, a disaster on all fronts. The product packaged by Refugium Games leaks from all sides. From the disappointing technical sector to the cumbersome gameplay, every single aspect of the production leaves a lot to be desired. The poor general quality does not even allow this adventure to be counted among the so-called 'so bad, it's good'. Even lovers of trashy games will probably be dissatisfied with it.

We were never expecting Greyhill Incident to be amazing, but it falls even short of simply being mediocre. Unfortunately, it’s one of the worst games we’ve played this year. While it manages to create a truly unsettling atmosphere and has some pretty hair-raising scenes, its gameplay is so tedious and frustrating that it kills your desire to progress. And so, those looking for alien-based horror thrills will have to do with the paltry options that are already available for now.

This is one otherworldly gaming experience with interesting ideas, but wholly horrendous execution.

Greyhill Incident could have cornered a niche in the market, yet its forgettable story, poor dialogue, and lazy gameplay make it one to miss.

Greyhill incident is an unpleasant and downright laughable attempt at a sci-fi survival horror game. Rancid dialogue, shonky game design, wafer-thin substance, and a complete lack of cohesive storytelling are just the tip of a very large iceberg of problems.

I enjoyed playing the game. The only bug, glitch, or crash I experienced was that the subtitles kept turning on after each abduction. It's easily fixed by just clicking them on and off again in the options menu. Other than that, it played as intended. The only complaints I have are that it was sometimes tricky to time hitting the aliens with the baseball bat before they grab you. There is also some mild dialogue issues where the dialogue doesn't match the characters lips, the characters sometimes talk over eachother, and some minor spelling errors. None of these issues were that bad and I had no problem with them considering English is not the first language of the developers. The survival elements were good. There were enough bullets you could kill most of the aliens, you can also hit the aliens with a bat and run away, or you can hide and do 100% stealth. The visuals were cool. The game looked great on the PS5 and my TV. Seeing the abduction and the UFO's in the corn fields was cool. The 3d sound was awesome. You could tell if it was safe to come out of a hiding spot by the sound of the aliens footsteps. The sound was vital in another section of the game that I won't spoil. The game took me about 3.5 hours to complete and the trophy list is simple so it's pretty much a guaranteed platinum with one playthrough. Another plus is that I got the physical version which comes with some alien themed inserts featured in the game which I really appreciate since I respect physical media. I can see someone being disappointed if they're expecting an AAA game, but I wasn't and I was happy with the experience. Expand

I actually liked it. Yes, it could be way better, but it's acceptable. I loved the atmosphere and the video camera filter option. The "story"I actually liked it. Yes, it could be way better, but it's acceptable. I loved the atmosphere and the video camera filter option. The "story" doesn't take itself too seriously, which is good to me. Though the player's supposed to avoid and hiding from the aliens, the combat system doesn't help, so as some models through the map. Since I had my 3 hours of fun I can't give it less than a 7. Expand

The game was definitely faulted in a few ways. Missions were often unclear. Character movements were blocky, and the running system made you feel chonky. Dialogue was alternating from funny, serious, and overall misspelt / incorrect grammar (though I do want to stress, the team isn't an English speaking developer, so I'm sure they did their best) In the end, certain mechanics of the gameplay just needed far more tweaking.
When trying break free from an alien's grasp, the button mashing never seems to work correctly. And as far a using a PS5's R2 trigger to button mash, it isn't exactly the best button to use. The trigger is designed for their adaptive use and have a farther reach from un-pressed, to pressed (if that makes sense).
The visuals were actually pretty impressive. The lighting was awing, the trees blowing in the wind added to the immersion, and most areas the character would spend time were detailed very well. Though once you step out of the buildings and off the main roads, the invisible fences, 2-D foliage, and graphical glitches began to show. Vast landscaped of flattened green were seen behind invisible barriers.
Since the developer is Indie, and clearly becoming good at what they do (I mean that :) I hope to see what the sequel brings.
In my opinion however, when I see the genre as survival horror, I do expect more horror. Not silliness and lines such as, " I don't want them putting things in my dirty ass!". Which DID make me laugh, but I was already over the game at that point.
Greyhill Incident is a silly, good-looking at times, alien invasion game. I wouldn't say it's scary, but if you see it on sale sometime for a few bucks, it's a few hours of fun. Literally. it's only about 3 hours long. So grab some friends, pass the controller, and enjoy a weird slice of extra-terrestrial B-horror fun. But don't expect horror, survival, or a well polished product.

    Bad-
Underdeveloped, rigid, and frustrating stealth gameplay; Dark and muddy visuals; A campy, cliché story; Extremely short experience for its price.

    Thoughts-
The game’s only saving grace is that it ends prematurely. Still, for the price of this game, the offering is meager – even more minuscule than most add-on, DLC, or expansion content in other games. It’s impossible to justify the $30 price tag for a completely unsatisfying slog that only lasts two hours.
Greyhill Incident truly feels like a lackluster attempt to mimic classic films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind. While the idea isn’t at all preposterous or bad, this particular offering suffers from frustrating, underdeveloped gameplay, poor character, and story creation, and painfully dark and muddy visuals. You’re better off making your own tin foil hat and watching UFO documentaries.

Its so dark i had to play on full brightness, and the stamina re-gen is soooo slow. Very buggy, and the story is forgettable. The ending was not satisfying at all. For that price i was expecting a little bit more gameplay, but 30$ for a 2 hour gameplay is too expensive...
Dont be a fool like me, cause playstation is not gonna give your money back!
