Frostpunk 2 is a brilliant city-builder game. It is difficult but very rewarding to those who stick with it and learn from their mistakes. I am a newcomer to the series and I love it. While I struggled at times (took me 3 attempts to pass the prologue) I persevered and kept coming back. There is a steep learning curve here but it is worth getting through it. Veterans of these games will love the survival aspect of the game and building massive cities and challenging themselves in the Utopia Builder. Lots of freedom of choice present and you can play whatever way you want. Dictator or fair leader? Good or evil? Maybe in the middle? Up to you. Lots of replay value. An excellent game that is worth checking out for PS5 players.

Wartales is a phenomenal old-school RPG with a modern edge. You'll love the vast open-world and the freedom to do as you please. However, the brutal gameplay and the spinning of many plates make it a tough game to play.

Commander Quest is an addictive, polished strategy roguelite that understands the appeal of combining smart planning with unpredictable outcomes. It won’t replace the genre’s giants, but it carves out a niche with its breezy pace, clever mechanics, and bite-sized battles that beg for “just one more run.” Whether you’re a deckbuilding enthusiast, a tactics fan, or just looking for a fresh spin on strategy, Commander Quest is well worth your attention.

The package of Rolling Gunner + Over Power provides countless hours of entertainment through its immensely replayable and masterfully balanced gameplay, making it not just a must-play for fans of the shmup genre but also an excellent starting point for those who are looking to test the waters in the bullet hell genre for the first time, but have been wary of the challenge.

Despite straightforward gameplay, DynoPunk is an incredible game. The game’s branching pathways, fantastic story, and extraordinary visuals immersed me in the world of this game. It is tough to fault this game as it is entertaining throughout the entire runtime.

FF7R is a fantastic reimaging of the iconic title. Refusing to classify itself as a nostalgia act, it expands upon the original narrative in new and exciting ways. The combat system has a seamless fluidity to it, allowing for engaging and entertaining gameplay sequences. Artistically, FF7R retains the level of quality players have come to expect from Square Enix, but it does falter ever so slightly in some environments. The updated rendition of the classic OST is outstanding from start to finish, with the sound design team matching it in every regard.

There is no one puzzle repeated, each is with its own challenges and difficulties. So there is no way to expect the game is going to be easy, even if a few levels are a breeze. That is what makes this game exciting and great, it takes a little more planning and sometimes a few mistakes to survive. I honestly just love puzzle games and this one really keeps me motivated, engaged, and amused to keep playing.

Honestly, it’s hard to say that this one game is horrible because in total it was just so much classic FUN! Games back then use to be slower and the colors or way they move are very obvious in each game. Sometimes the sayings, as phrases are a little much and at that time the game was pretty much exciting. So modern games to classic will be hard to find it that entertaining and enjoyable as many would like them to be. However, they are collections of the past, not much changed, and really a blast from the past when playing.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a fantastic Metroidvania Sci-fi adventure. It can be enjoyed alone or locally and online with another. The drip-fed mechanics, exploration elements, and vibrant worlds are a joy to experience. Though the action can sometimes feel overwhelming, this shouldn't put you off. Accordingly, it is a gem of a game and a must-play experience.

What’s perhaps most impressive is how inclusive the game is without being preachy about it. The Vale was built from the ground up to be accessible to blind and low-vision players, but the experience it delivers is powerful for everyone. It demonstrates that great gameplay doesn’t need to rely on visuals—it just needs immersion, purpose, and heart.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is your quintessential kart racing game with great content and a unique and interesting gimmick in the form of the CrossWorlds. What appears to be a very simple kart racing game has far more depth and difficulty than meets the eye, with a plethora of modes, tracks, racers and upgrades. Granted, there are some minor gripes with the tracks sometimes feeling overwhelming, and some punishingly unfair moments. Still, if you are looking for a classic kart racing game with fun mechanics and great online and local co-op gameplay, then this is for you! Sonic is back and with a bang!

Borderlands 4 isn’t just a return to form, it feels like the natural evolution of the series. A solid story, best-in-class side quests, rewarding loot, and some of the most creative Vault Hunter designs yet make this entry stand tall. It manages to respect the chaotic fun that defined the earlier games while laying down a stronger, more focused foundation for the future. For long time fans like me, this is the Borderlands we’ve been waiting for since 2.

Resident Evil 4 (2023) is a phenomenal remake of a fantastic game. With a twist on the excellent plot and some incredible new mechanics, this is great for newcomers and veterans alike. Tiny Bookshop is insanely repetitive but with an addictive quality to it. The customization options reinforces the fun, and the slow narrative progression is rather soothing instead of boring. It’s a short and sweet, cozy time. Most of the gameplay is just waiting around though. Aside from the recommendations mechanic, I wish you could interact more with customers. I also wish that the environmental interactions could be more involved or elaborate. Regardless, I highly recommend this game. I think with the upcoming cold front and the tendency to become hermitic for the holidays, this is the perfect time to open up your tiny, digital bookshop.

There was always a risk in taking a beloved cult classic movie and making a tie-in game. Thankfully, Robocop: Rogue City delivers on the action, the gameplay, the visuals and more. It’s a nostalgic trip back to a favourite franchise to listen to that synth music and kill plenty of bad guys in true 80s action style.

Atomfall is a brilliant and fresh take on post-apocalyptic survival. It is a beautiful mix of Fallout and souls-like games, with wonderful exploration and mysteries to discover at every turn. Not many games have made me really feel like I am the master of the story and I craft it to how I see fit but this one does! The wonderful recreation of the beautiful Lake District, accompanied with a sci-fi horror twist, makes this game one of the best additions to the genre in recent memory. I implore anyone to go in with as little knowledge as possible to be wowed at each twist and turn of this thought-provoking narrative. Some minor flaws dampen the spirit slightly but this is still Rebellion’s finest work to date.

To put it simply, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is an absolute blast. An over the top, fun filled cooperative shooter, with solid gunplay and great exploration which will have any lover of this genre smiling from ear to ear. Whilst there are some inconsistencies with enemy and bot balancing, and the game is on the short side, it’s still a great time. Add in superb visuals, great sound design and a rip roaring soundtrack and you have a real blast from the past! This is a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is just here for a good time! Mission: Rift Seeker is a game that has launched in early access. The game has solid fundamentals and is a fun colony simulation game. The game teaches you how to start your base and gives you a solid foundation with room to experiment and learn how to let your seekers thrive. However, for a game that revolves around sending your minions to do things, I wish I had more control over my seekers. I also wish things in the game were more clear about how they worked. For those looking for a colony simulation game, this is one to keep track of, as it’s still in early access. In its current state, it is a game that I can’t recommend at the moment. In a market muddled with subpar survival games, V Rising is a noticeable step above the rest. The vampire aesthetic is executed upon phenomenally well, and the ARPG mechanics match the themes to perfection.
