To sum up, Directive 8020 is a brilliant new step in the Dark Pictures Anthology. It is a chilling, haunting sci fi horror mystery, with great twist and turns. Refined and polished gameplay and awe inspiring visuals help make this title the best in the series to date. Supermassive are the kings of the interactive horror genre and despite the short length and lack of shared story, this is my favourite entry in the series.

This 1st floor does a great job at grabbing my attention for the series as a whole. For fans of this storied franchise, Sudden Strike 5 is a welcome addition. A solid campaign full of great historic battles, fun multiplayer options and an addictive gameplay loop will satisfy veterans of the RTS genre. Some frustrating issues occur, such as repetitive missions, finnicky controls and a steep learning curve but overall, there is a great game in the chaos. Add in beautiful visuals and strong audio design and you have the recipe for a great war game. War is hell!

The developers at stillalive studios have achieved their best iteration of a simulation game with the release of Bus Bound. Strong gameplay, great variety in vehicles, a brilliant weather system and a thin, if not endearing, narrative help propel this genre into new heights. I do have some problems with bugs, animations and some lenient gameplay decisions, but overall, this is a great simulator game in a genre that I am rapidly falling in love with. OPUS: Prism Peak is a narrative adventure game that takes place in a spirit realm known as the Dusklands. Developed by SIGONO INC. and published by SHUEISHA GAMES, Prism Peak is the fourth game as part of the OPUS series, though playing the previous three does not seem required. In OPUS: Prism Peak, players play as Eugene, a 40 year old ex-photojournalist whose had a rough time in life. Along with a unnamed kid—Ren—who is fading and smells of Shade, the two must make their way through the spirit realm to the top of a mountain. Along the way, they'll interact and help a cast of different spirits, and search for a person known as the Seer. Through an emotional and impactful narrative, many puzzles to solve in Firebowls and the field journal, and lots of photography, OPUS: Prism Peak is easily a highly recommendable game. I found only a small handful of 'downsides' and these are really just personal preferences that keep it from a perfect 10 out of 10 score. My review probably doesn't do the game justice, but please trust me when I say that its a pretty good game!

To sum up, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss has deepened my love and appreciation for Lovecraft and the genre as a whole. A brilliant mysterious story, gorgeous visuals and soundtrack, along with some of the best detective gameplay in games to date, help make this a must play for fans of the genre. Unfortunately, the game stumbles in places, with poor optimisation and performance issues, along with some tedious gameplay design. Overall, Project Songbird deserves its very positive Steam rating. The game gets a lot right, particularly its horror and its narrative. The game’s flaws are too minor to outweigh its positives. I can easily recommend this one to anyone who is a fan of psychological horrors with a story. The narrative and deeper message perhaps aren’t life changing, but I do think many creatives will be able to relate in some way—hopefully without the trauma and the monsters. Just remember that your art, whatever that may look like, is for you. Even if there isn’t a whole lot of fans or popularity gained, don’t forget who the artist is—yourself.

I’m not going to say that Hymer 2000 is a game for everyone. Most people are looking for experiences that are filled with spectacle, excitement, and high levels of interactivity. In spite of this, those looking to be lost in other people’s heads (and willing to do a bit of detective work) may hail this as one of the more fascinating indie experiments of 2025.

Captain Wayne probably won’t appeal to everyone and won’t have the longevity with just this one game, and I think that’s okay. For Ciaran Games LLC’s first game on Steam, the game does its job and has a clear image of what it wants to do. The developers could focus on making new Captain Wayne games, each one playing like a new episode in the series. I could see a future where there’s an “Ultimate Captain Wayne” bundle with five Captain Wayne games together at a cheaper price than buying them individually. Personally, I’m not sure I will be tuning in, as its not my genre of game. However, I’m still hopeful that this is just the beginning for Captain Wayne.

Duskpunk provides an engaging experience for those who enjoy decision-based story games. Strategy is still an important factor on how you play this game, but it’s all worth it to experience this game’s rich story. Take this with a grain of salt as I had been reviewing the demo of Duskpunk, so I am unaware of what’s to come after a certain point.

From the opening gambit, I knew this would be a special game. Yet, it was the sheer layers of complexity and the never-ending content that took me by surprise. Furthermore, the story is a wonderful blend of parody and tongue-in-cheek humour. As such, this will make you chuckle even though every mission can be demanding of your time and attention. If you want a brilliantly casual title that is amusing and addictive, then look no further.

KAKU - Ancient Seal is a fun adventure RPG. However, it lacks originality and this holds it back. If you fancy wasting time with a familiar romp, this could be the game for you.

Zooseum doesn't evolve the basic formula of Two Point Museum too much, but the animals are adorable, the simulation gameplay is deep and the humour balances the perfect amount of chuckles and groans.

Tiny Bookshop is insanely repetitive but with an addictive quality to it. The customization options reinforces the fun, and the slow narrative progression is rather soothing instead of boring. It’s a short and sweet, cozy time. Most of the gameplay is just waiting around though. Aside from the recommendations mechanic, I wish you could interact more with customers. I also wish that the environmental interactions could be more involved or elaborate. Regardless, I highly recommend this game. I think with the upcoming cold front and the tendency to become hermitic for the holidays, this is the perfect time to open up your tiny, digital bookshop.

I believe the developers at Haemimont Games made a great decision in relaunching the original Surviving Mars. Many reviews claim that the game is too similar to the original. However, I think this should be obvious given that it is a “relaunch.” The game isn’t designed as a sequel to the original. Instead, it serves to bring the game more up-to date with modern gaming, running on more advanced engines. It is a relaunching on the game’s life and for that, I think it is doing it’s job well. Plus, with future DLCs, the game will hopefully continue to be worked on and improved. I can see a bright future ahead of Surviving Mars: Relaunched, and a bright future for life on Mars!

To put this as simply as I can, Dispatch is a game that will stay with me forever. It’s easily my game of the year so far and one of my favourite stories ever told. A tale of discovering a true identity, packed with emotion, comedy and romance, it’s more than I could ever have hoped for in an interactive drama. Add in the superb and unique gameplay mechanics, and AdHoc have managed to catch lightning in a bottle. Stunning visuals, pitch perfect audio design and a killer soundtrack make this the perfect game. I just pray the developers decide to revisit this world, whether that’s on television or hopefully another season in video game form. Bravo AdHoc, you have achieved true perfection! I’m going back to Dispatch!
