Apr 20, 2026The Day I Became a Bird is a wonderful adaptation of a delightful children’s graphic novel. The gameplay isn’t challenging, but it perfectly supports the concept of putting the story front and centre. The additional story elements that extend the gameplay also deepen the player’s connection with the story; they don’t feel like filler. I didn’t expect that a book could be adapted into a game with so much care for the original text while still creating something new. This is even true when the art style is changed to something more befitting of a game.

Apr 23, 2026The Day I Became a Bird is a lovely adaptation of the book and film, with some nice gameplay ideas. While I'd have liked those ideas to be pushed a bit further, there's no denying the grin it put on my face.

Apr 16, 2026The Day I Became a Bird is a short, cute story-driven game you can finish in a single sitting. While it's on the shorter side, it tells an adorable story of young love I think almost everyone will identify with. That said, outside of a companion experience for the book or simplistic children's game, I can't see this appealing to many.

Apr 17, 2026It's too short to pack a real emotional punch, but The Day I Became a Bird is a cute, whimsical story about a schoolboy and his crush. Varied gameplay and fun little activities keep you playing, and the gorgeous art style makes it a worthwhile experience, but you'll likely be left wanting more.
