The beloved God of War franchise certainly makes a sharp turn. But not for the worse, as this game packs all the looks, terrific gameplay and memorable characters needed to make it a true, frost-riddled gem.

Engaging and surprisingly emotional. Even though Surviving Mars can be frustrating at times, because of how poorly it communicates it’s mechanics, it’s still a great resource management game whose combination of a sincere theme and involving mechanics more games should study.

Despite an intriguing premise and a colourful cast of unforgettable characters, Far Cry 5 manages to deliver an utterly familiar experience. This is not all bad however, and we're happy to kill, adventure and toy around in the great sandbox that is Hope County, Montana.

It is certainly not difficult to find faults in Gravel. On the other hand, it's just as easy to put the pedal to the metal and enjoy the wonderfully exaggerated races. Rarely has a racing game been this fun and varied, although It could – and maybe should – have been better in a lot of ways.

Yakuza 6: The song of life is the finest entry in the series yet. Although impressing with its open world aspect, we do miss some of the content from previous games.

The story and most of the characters feel a bit too traditional, but aside from that Ni No Kuni II is a game that never disappoints. It's one of the most beautiful and heart-warming adventures in a long while, and it's better than the first game in every single respect.

Swedish indie developer Zoink delivers a beautiful and slow-paced platform adventure, that really feels unique. It isn't without flaws, though. The level design is a bit confusing and the control is far from perfect.

Kingdom Come is one of the most ambitious RPGs in a long while, with lots of things to do and choices to make. Some technical issues aside – if you are into Skyrim and The Witcher 3 - it is worth a closer look.

If you've managed to miss the two Bayonetta games previously, or you just want to have them available on a portable format, this collection is a must buy. If you've already played the two adventures however, there is nothing new to find here - even though the improved framerate is docked mode is a notable improvement over the Wii U versions.

Not your typical Metal Gear, but a bold move for the series. Great controls and visuals, bur the survival aspect is not unique and will not appeal to all fans.

The Switch version of Darkest Dungeon may have some sluggish controls, but the game itself is as brilliant as ever. A must-have if you into challenging games like Dark Souls.

Even though Blueprint have re-made everything from the graphics to the animations they’ve manage to not only make Shadow of the Colossus playable in 2018, but also to keep the feeling from the original game – and added some great extra features on top of that. One of the best remakes ever made.

A Hat in Time is a game full of fun, charm and variety - just like the best 3D platform games from the late 90's. Even though A Hat in Time is not as polished as, for example, Super Mario's latest adventures, it's still an entertaining adventure that is a great choice for everyone who wants to relive something akin to the platforming games from their childhood.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is just as hectic and intense as the original series it’s based on, and plays excellent as well. Don’t let the license fool you though, this gem is fun even if you are not a die hard fan of either the series or genre.

Monster Hunter World doesn’t make everything right, but it’s easily the best entry in the series so far – and one of the best action adventures you can play. The visuals are stunning, the mechanics are better than ever and the gameplay will please both hardcore fans as well as newcomers.

The latest game in the Sonic-franchise is everything you’d expect; intense, high tempo, simple and predictable. However, the controls lack of precision and the few levels stops it from reaching its former glory.

An overhauled scouting system, squad hierarchy and better injury surveillance. Football Manager 2018 offers several new and exciting features, and even though none of them feels totally complete at the time of writing, they bring great hope for what's to come.

It’s hard not to be impressed by how much of the Doom experience that is preserved on Nintendo's little machine. On the other hand, it's impossible to ignore the big downgrades regarding graphics and controls. Doom on Switch is simply a worse experience than Doom on the other consoles and pc - but it’s still a pretty great experience. Especially in handheld mode.

Despite some strange and frustrating features, Need for Speed Payback gives you challenging races in a world that is surprisingly relaxing to explore. Although Forza Horizon 2 and 3 offer a similar but more refined experience, Ghost Games has included enough unique features to make their latest title feel like something more than a pale copy.

Call of Duty WW2 is in the middle of an identity crisis, but by going back to its roots it has created slower and more tactical gameplay that is much more fun to play than the wall running and double jumping from the last few installments.

With impressive graphics, excellent controls and a well-developed online mode, Gran Turismo Sport could have been the best racing game of the year. Unfortunately, the lack of cars and courses and a half-baked single-player mode results in a game that does not reach its full potential. The foundation is great though, and if Polyphony Digital continue to add content at a steady pace Gran Turismo Sport might just grab the gold in the end.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a great successor to Hyrule Warriors and adds some very intuitive additions. The lack of variation with the lead characters in the cast reduces some enjoyment though.
