The question that every Final Fantasy fanatic poses is probably if it is still worth tackling all the extra obstacles, just to experience another epic adventure. As an online role-playing game, it requires a usual monthly subscription and every single expansion also has its price. If you look past that detail, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is yet another excellent game in the series, albeit a little too adapted for online gambling to attract exactly all "regular" Final Fantasy fans.- M3

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a new start for the series that also got the new ideas of its predecessor right. Although the weapon triangle is still missing, what we get this time turned out to be much deeper and better. It takes time to experiment and switch between different job types, but in the end you can have an army that is completely unique to your particular game type. And when we are tired of fighting, it is extremely gratifying to exchange all that for pure conversations and lessons, while still giving our characters experience points. Fans who were discouraged by Shadows of Valentia can thus breathe peacefully. Fire Emblem: Three Houses shows that the series is back on its feet again, better than ever.- M3

For those who want a realistic handheld racing game, Moto GP 19 for Switch is an accepted alternative. It looks fine and is packed with content. However, if you intend to play on a television, we would rather recommend the other versions of the game.- M3

Despite a couple of compromises regarding the controls, we still find it difficult to stop playing Super Mario Maker 2. Creating your dream courses has never been more fun, and what we lose without the Wii U stylus we gain back through the large number of accessories and the 3D World Mode. The concept of downloading new courses can i theory keep the game alive for years to come. It could very well be the last 2D Mario you'll ever need to buy.- M3

Like its predecessor, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a great mix of Japanese role-playing games, The Sims and Minecraft. It is very similar to the original; not least the graphics, building and combat, although many small improvements enhances the experience a great deal. With a successful mix of creative construction, exciting exploration, and easy-going combat Dragon Quest Builders 2 is one of Square Enix best games on Playstation 4.- M3

With interpretations of five classic titles, 198X is a loving tribute to the gaming world in the 80s and 90s. The graphics and sound of each game excel, but a weak story and a total playtime of less than two hours, makes the experience abrupt and incoherent. Hopefully, part two will solve the problems that exist, because the foundation is promising.- M3

Moto GP 19 does not disappoint when it comes to licenses and content. We get the drivers, teams and courses for both the Moto GP series as well as several underlying divisions – and all the vehicles feels great to drive. All in all, it is an excellent game for fans of Moto GP, but if you do not mind racing with four wheels instead of two there are many better racing games to choose from.- M3

It is easy to say whether Trover Saves the Universe is worth your time or not. If you like the humor, the gameplay is solid enough for the game to keep your attention to the end. If you do not like the humor, however, you will probably give up before the first level is completed.- M3

The tricky controls combined with the challenging level of difficulty and the unforgiving build of the tracks make Crash Team Racing a satisfying experience for the accustomed player - but a frustrating experience for the novice who is looking for a nice and relaxing game to enjoy with friends. This is simply the game for those who are tired of injustice and the simplicity of games like Mario Kart, but no complement for those looking for a party game.- M3

Judgment has everything that makes Yakuza such a unique experience. From crazy side quests and super serious story bits to classic arcade games and intuitive battles. But it's also a fresh new beginning with new interesting characters and exciting fresh gameplay mechanics, making it a great entry point for newcomers and a welcome return for old fans.- M3

Blood and Truth is in many ways a perfect game-incarnation of a stupid action movie. You shoot and run while stuff keeps exploding all around - but thanks to the great gunplay and varied levels it never gets boring. If you want to feel like a real action movie hero, this game is for you.- M3

Everybody's Golf VR takes videogame golf to a whole new level. Although the fact that the gameplay is amazing, makes the lack of content it even more disappointing. Given the relatively low price tag, the number of courses is acceptable, but the lack of online play and even single player tournaments hurts the overall enjoyment.- M3

Sega has really tried to do something new with Team Sonic Racing. Despite the great entertainment value, we are quickly bored due to the limited selection of tracks and frustrated by our teammates. Combined with unclear difficulty, we suspect that few players will have the patience and desire to play Team Sonic Racing as many hours as we have done.- M3

When we sum up our experience with episode 3, it definitely feels better than when we played through the other parts. It all ends as usual with a strong cliffhanger that promises well for the continuation. We hope, however, that the next episode offers more action and gameplay moments with more direct control over the events.- M3

Since we took our first steps in Avalanche Studios' post-apocalypse, we have had a hard time putting the control aside. The combination of an open world, mutant freaks and super powers is too entertaining, actually far above our expectations. Along with the eminent control and the dynamic battles, it makes Rage 2 one of the year's most addictive titles to date.- M3

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a flawed yet thrilling adventure. While we love the characters and mostly enjoy the stealth sections and combat, the game is just too linear and limited; “walk there and do that – or die”. There is little room for exploration, no challenging puzzles and just a handful of fights that will test your skill. However, if you like the premise and don’t mind the linearity and lack of challenge, this game might still be well worth your time.- M3

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is even better now that we can follow Vaan, Balthier and the gang on the couch, during the train or vacation. Functions like fast forwarding and auto-saving come in handy when we explore huge catacombs and endless fields, especially for portable gaming.- M3

Yakuza Kiwami 2 offers a unique blend that is needed in an industry where the norm otherwise follows a specific template. It does not copy other successful concepts but is instead a fusion of elements that made us love Sega classics like Shenmue, Virtua Fighter and Streets of Rage. And what other game lets you go directly from an arcade, make a stop at a karaoke bar and then on to the top of a skyscraper to fight a yakuza boss and his pet Bengali tigers?- M3

Ghost Giant is a touching adventure filled with simple puzzles, cozy environments and a story of joy and sorrow. If you are looking for a challenging experience this is not for you though. Instead it is more of an interactive story with simple but enjoyable gameplay. And most importantly; a great and memorable little tale.- M3

Although the innovative concept is very impressive and while we are undeniably entertained when working with Labo, this can hardly be counted as one of Nintendo's great successes. We also have to admit that we did not pick up our first Labo creations any more time after the initial weeks. We suspect that the same thing will happen with the vr packages.- M3

Although it is somewhat outdated with regard to some elements, Borderlands Game of the year edition is still proof that some things were better in the past. Local four player mode is something we miss enormously in today's games. But best of all is that the update is free for PC players.- M3

One of the year's most cozy experiences so far. Image & Form Games has taken the charm of previous games and merged it with a fast battle system that never feels boring. Together with the wonderful environments and the funny dialogue, we have a game that, in its best moments, is reminiscent of the feeling of the very best in the genre.- M3

Mortal Kombat 11 is still one of the most entertaining games of the year to date. Maybe even the best Mortal Kombat game, game-wise. Unfortunately, not many of us will even see half of the unlockable content without opening the wallet. Too bad, because otherwise we would have had a game worthy of the name "Ultimate Mortal Kombat".- M3

With jaw-dropping graphics, fantastic music, great gameplay, likeable characters - and terrifying hordes - it is hard to tell that Days Gone is Bend Studios first truly big-budget game. Even though the game is not as polished as the best first party games from Sony, it still might end up as one this year’s best single player experiences.- M3

Yoshi's Crafted World is a lovely but somewhat uneven experience. There is much to enjoy, especially the graphics and creativity that each level offers. Our only wish is that the game would be more challenging, and that the gameplay evolved during the adventure. But if you can ignore these short-comings, Yoshi's Crafted World is a great Nintendo style adventure.- M3

The Division 2 is a safe but overall well-made sequel. Although the most noticeable difference compared to the predecessor might be the shift from winter to spring, there have been several improvements that do a lot for the gameplay - not the least in terms of combat. Liberating Washington is also just as fun and rewarding today as it was to help New York three years ago. If you want a more down to earth online action game, The Division 2 is the game for you.- M3

Twelve and a half years have passed since the last great Ace Combat game. Fortunately, Project Aces have ignored recent years' failures and instead delivers a game that might be the best in the series. Sure, we would have liked some more memorable missions, a more cohesive story and a better checkpoint system. But other than that, there is not much to complain about. The sky and airplanes look wonderful, while the improved physics makes the flying feel better than ever - not least thanks to the well-made weather effects. Gameplay-wise Ace Combat 7 is the best flight action game ever, and an absolute must for all everyone who dreamed about sitting in a fighter jet.- M3
