For those who already own New Super Mario Bros U, this upgrade is really not worth full price. However, it does not take away the fact that it's still one of the absolute best experiences for four players.

Can there be such a thing as too much content? According to Super Smash Bros Ultimate the answer is clearly no. With tons of characters, arenas, settings and game modes, this is by far the most complete Super Smash game yet. It is just as good as a single player experience, as it is with friends - at least if you do not want to play online. The Gamecube classic Super Smash Bros Melee has finally been defeated.

Swedish pen and paper meets Xcom in a brilliant, post-apocalyptic wasteland. Oozing with atmosphere and intense battles, this little gem of a game should not be overlooked.

Despite its generic title Black Ops IV feels like a fresh start for Call of Duty. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is very much the same as always, but with Blackout, Treyarch takes everything that is good with Player Unknown's Battleground and makes it better.

Battlefield V is a welcome return to the fast paced massive multiplayer games that the series is known for. Even though it lacks in map counts and has a few missing modes that are coming in the future it is a surprisingly complete package. It makes a very competent first impression and promises a longevity that Battlefield 1 never did.

With beautiful worlds and family-friendly action, Spyro Reignited Trilogy Spyro delivers pure gaming joy and is perfect for both nostalgics and kids who have not played a Spyro game before. It is somewhat noticeable that the core mechanics are over 15 years old, but overall the annoyances are easy to forgive.

The combination of revisiting the origins of Pokémon with enhanced Pokémon Go mechanics makes this journey mostly a pleasant one. Too bad the controller options are so limited as it sure will divide the audience.

A bit of a technical mess, but Darksiders III manage to entertain, mainly thanks to a great combat system, and well-designed bosses.

Fallout 76 is an unfinished game, set in a world that lacks pretty much everything we learned to love in the previous ones. One of the biggest disappointments this year.

Rockstar's eye for detail, presentation and tongue-in-cheek-storytelling makes this one an instant classic. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the ultimate Wild West sandbox-experience everyone has been waiting so very patiently for. It gives us more of everything we loved about the original and then takes it to a completely new level.

There is plenty of fun to be had with Super Mario Party, if the circumstances are right. With four friends and the right mindset you will have hours of fun in front of you. Although if you prefer a fair game, can’t gather enough players, or want to play online the enjoyment falls significantly. In the end Super Mario Party might actually be the highlight of the series so far, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a gorgeous looking game, and by far the most ambitious one in the series, but the world is so filled with repetitive activities that it’s difficult to feel completely satisfied with the experience. If you enjoyed the previous ones though – especially Origins – this is absolutely worth a look.

It seems that Playground Games can do no wrong and Forza Horizon 4 is not just another feather in their hat, it is also the best exclusive game on Xbox One right now. The graphics are drop dead gorgeous on One X, the gameplay is better than ever, and the enhanced online functions work great. Well done!

Two Point Hospital is probably the best strategy game this year, and an absolute must-have for fans of Theme Hospital. It has the same quirkiness, and is equally as hard to put away.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is basically the same game as Rise of theTomb Raider, but in a new environment. This time Lara finds her self in the Peruvian jungle – and it looks absolutely stunning. Unfortunately the graphics are about the only thing new in this game and we wish the gameplay would have been improved as well. But despite it's shortcomings, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a great entertainment. value.

Insomniac IS doing a lot of things right with Spider-Man. The superhero feeling is perfect, and fans of Spider-Man will find plenty of references to the universe. But the game lacks something that is difficult to pinpoint. Not many of its ridiculous amount of side missions feel unique, and the main story lacks tension. Spider-Man is a beautiful, charming and creative game, but it's also repetitive and too ambitious for its own good.

Mothergunship is a surprisingly entertaining game. The fast and intense combat feels rather unique, and it's impossible not to giggle like a school girl after building an excessively large lava spewing rocket launcher shotgun with an extra saw blade. Even though the graphics, level design and enemy variation could use a bit of work, it’s easy to forgive the problems and just enjoy some absurd shooting.

It took four Formula One games on the current console generation, but with F1 2018, Codemasters finally succeeds in most areas. Most of the bugs are gone, the tracks look better than ever, the career mode is deeper, and the physics are improved. The only thing we miss is more variety outside of the excellent career mode.

With over 50 games on the roster Sega Mega Drive Classics has something for most retro fans. Granted most of the games have already been seen in older collections and the emulation is not always perfect, but the ability to quick save and especially rewind is a game changer. Even though some will call it cheating, the ability to undo mistakes makes the classic games much more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.

Extreme speeds, brutal crashes and intense races – Onrush got it all. If you want an arcade racer in the veins of Blur and Burnouts Road Rage mode, this is for you. We do worry about the longevity of the game as it only offers four game modes and has a pretty serious online focus. But hopefully Onrush will find enough fans to garner a vital online community, because this is the most fun we have had in a racing game since Burnout's heydays.

It’s better than its predecessor, but The Crew 2 never really reaches its potential – mainly due to some underwhelming level design and a badly written story. However, in the end, The Crew 2 is an entertaining game, and a good choice for those who are looking for a racing game with big variation.

A port of last years Wolfenstein II to the Nintendo Switch seemed like an impossible task, but Panic Button has exceeded our expectations. Sure, there are some massive downgrades regarding the graphics, but the core gameplay is pretty much intact. The main problem is that the other versions of the game are so much better, but if you want a portable first person shooter this might be the best one yet.

Octopath Traveler is a beautiful adventure that feels like the retro trip it desperately trying to be. But the design does very little to surprise us, the result being that the game starts to be very repetitive after ten hours or so.

Thanks to several major updates No Man's Sky is in many ways a very different experience today than it was in 2016, even though the main gameplay loop is still intact. If you want an exciting story or thrilling space combat, this is not for you. However, if you want a Minecraft-oozing space adventure filled with endless exploration, it fits perfectly. It may not be Star Wars or Mass Effect, but it's your very own space adventure.

Detroit: Become Human is better than Beyond: Two Souls, but it won’t be the game that turns the skeptics around. The dialogue is poorly written and it’s hard to feel anything for the characters. It’s a story that is easy to be drawn into, but also one that doesn’t have that much to say at all.
