Spider-Man 2 is a very successful mainstream blockbuster, which will easily please fans of the license. The adventure is more explosive than ever, with technique that is sometimes truly impressive, a New York twice as big as in the past and even more in-depth side missions. That being said, Insomniac relies a little too much on the strengths (and weaknesses) of previous games, missing the opportunity to take the gameplay and writing a little further. In the end, it lacks a bit of momentum, of material to give life to a second episode that meets our expectations, but we still had an excellent time.

Four years after its original release, Ori and the Blind Forest is still the same gem, but this time on Nintendo Switch. It has great controls and music, and it’s still one of the most beautiful games of this generation.

On the other hand, it is rather at the level of keyboard/mouse controls that the experience remains largely better with the controller. In any case, the PC port of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth remains an excellent way to discover the title while waiting for the third and final part of the FF7 remake planned in a few years.

Sea of Stars has everything from an excellent tribute to the biggest names in Japanese role-playing games of the 90s. A well-paced story, a cast of characters to which we quickly become attached for their assumed personalities. It manages to do the same amazing job as its role models, thanks to its jaw-dropping art direction and adventure-perfect soundtrack. If the fights are engaging and push the player to think about each confrontation, they tend to lengthen the good dynamics of the title. It is especially by the lack of evolution of gameplay for the characters that the players will be able to find a certain weariness. If Sea of Stars is therefore not as revolutionary as its spiritual masters in their time, it should still have a place of choice on a shelf of your toy library in 2023. It may well establish itself as the independent game of the year if Silksong remains discreet or even claim prices from much fiercer competition. More than a great performance for a UFO from the 90s.

In five years, the Metroidvania has changed, and Ori has also learned from its peers to stay in the race. A little less demanding but much more varied, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is indeed the great adventure we have been waiting for.

If you have never played it before, this new version of Ghost Trick: Detective Ghost is the perfect opportunity to discover a must-have from the catalog of Capcom and Shu Takumi (Ace Attorney). Satisfying gameplay, a gallery of eccentric characters, comical situations and a well-stocked plot make this detective adventure a treat during its ten hours of play. If you're looking for a game to take on vacation this summer, go for it.

In short, we would like all remasters to be like The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Here, Naughty Dog intelligently expands the content of the PS4 masterpiece, with - already - behind the scenes everything (Lost Levels, audio comments) and above all, a roguelite mode which really wowed us. It's simply the perfect excuse to dive back into the universe and visceral action of Part 2, with a lifespan now extended from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Even the small graphics boost, in 4K Native, has its effect - despite a slightly disappointing 30 FPS (even with VRR). In the end, a remaster that doesn't make fun of us at all.

Admittedly, Requiem rehashes old ideas, but it brilliantly succeeds in its gamble of delivering two games in one, even if the story is once again a flimsy excuse for all sorts of extravagances. Beautiful, generous, well-paced, comprehensive, and designed to satisfy longtime fans, Resident Evil Requiem is devoured like a rich, over-the-top compilation with extra ketchup.
