  • Summary: The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is an expanded re-imagining of 2013's The Stanley Parable. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will make a choice, and you will become powerless. You are not here to win. The Stanley Parable is a game that plays you.

Ultra Deluxe is easily going to be one of the finest gaming experiences of the year, despite its short length relative to most. This is a game that gets in, says exactly what its creators wanted to say, and then gets out…maybe. The most ridiculous elements of the original are still perfectly preserved here, and then amplified in the new content, letting the player experience exactly what they want to. I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.

The 2022 release adds an Ultra Deluxe desert to the menu, elevating the night out from a lovely dinner to an indulgent feast. It’s a dining experience worth returning to for fans who already count The Stanley Parable among their favourite meals, balanced with providing the perfect place for new players to take a chance on something different. Regardless of which door you enter, the philosophical taste is likely to linger long after you’re finished.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe might joke about overly aggrandizing reviews, but it’s one of the few games that’s actually deserving of one. For all its smugness, I’d love to sit here and tell you that The Stanley Parable is pretentious and full of shit, but it earns every right to its pretension. And I for one and so glad I’m here to see it. There’s a reason it’s considered one of the best games of all time.

The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is an adventure that continues to surprise after years. It is a journey into the human mind that manages to entertain, make people laugh and think at the same time.

While it may not be as truly groundbreaking as the original, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is a must-play for fans of the original – and if you’ve never experienced the game, it’s the perfect place to learn what made the original so brilliant while finding a number of new twists.

It seemed impossible to improve, but they have managed to make even better a fantastic game like no other. Do not miss it.

Most importantly, the old jokes are still funny. [Issue#372, p.116]

This is the story of a man named Stanley.

Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee #427.

Employee #427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in Room 427 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard.

Orders came to him through a monitor on his desk telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order.

This is what Employee #427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others may have considered it soul rending,

Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job.

    And Stanley was happy.

And then one day, something very peculiar happened.

    Something that would forever change Stanley;

Something he would never quite forget.

He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he had realized not one single order had arrived on the monitor for him to follow.

No one had shown up to give him instructions, call a meeting, or even say 'hi'. Never in all his years at the company had this happened, this complete isolation.

Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found himself unable to move for the longest time.

But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, he got up from his desk and stepped out of his office.

This game is literally a joke in itself that is my conclusion after playing the Epilogue and almost every ending in this game.

The gameplay is basically you controlling an empty character named Stanley and going walking while the narrator tells the things you should do, then you have to decide if you obey or not and based on the player's choice we go to one of the dozens of endings this game has. The narrator is crazy and things can turn out to be all crazy ways, for instance in one ending the narrator explodes the entire office (and he trolls making you press buttons to stop the countdown), another is revealed that Stanley is hallucinating all things, another the narrator gets lost and resets the game. In conclusion, there is no story, you can't deduce what is happening, it is all a joke.

The part that I liked the most was "the new content and sequel saga", at least, these parts had some meaning, they joke about how the game industry sells games with little to no new content at full prices.

The game is very creative, yes, but it is meaningless, some jokes are fun, and I had some surprises playing the game but some parts were kind of tiresome.

Also, this game is danm too short, I've finished it (mostly without help) in just 3-4 hours.

    6.5/10 overall
