Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch is a full fledge free to play, portable (kind of) cousin to the big consoles and PC version with cross-play but no cross-progression. I Am Setsuna is a little too shallow at times to truly stand out as a worthy successor to its precursors but, if you have a hankering for a throwback to Square’s golden age of RPGs but with a current generation sheen applied, it’s worth giving the game a look even if it doesn’t quite manage to reinvent the wheel.

The Namco Museum successfully ports these classic games onto a modern console that allows both new and veteran gamers the chance to experience these historic titles or relive them again. With a total of ten games available on Namco Museum, it gives players a wide assortment of titles, all with their own unique gaming mechanics to play for countless hours which is like having your own virtual arcade. What I really enjoyed about this collection was the ability to play the games in their purest form which is ideal if you’re waiting because they allow for quick or long bursts.

Binary Domain is an enjoyable yet ultimately forgettable game as it does nothing to further the squad based shooter genre. It contains an interesting story, decent in-game mechanics but at times it feels a little too polished and stiff which makes it a tad unrealistic. The combat is fun and delivers an engaging system for players to finish this title, especially with the robotic gibs. Needless to say, it's quite refreshing to play something that is not based on another faux war or distant alien planet.

Rising above many of the system's shortcomings, areas of the game may fall into some of the same traps many developers find themselves in due to the Kinect's limited capabilities, but when the game works it provides one of the most engaging and immersive titles available, inventively putting the technology to great use. It's just a damn shame about that irritatingly inaccurate precision tracking.

Biart stresses that the game is very arcade and action oriented, not to be compared to hardcore titles; and this really gets to the heart of the matter. Deep Black offers waves of enemies on land and somewhat more strategic, cover-based battle in the sea. Included are boss fights, a decent multitude of weapons, and a nifty jetpack mechanic. Unfortunately this is one of those games that has been touched by the movie curse which is a shame as the movie was actually quite interesting. But if you enjoyed the movie, you should get a kick out of this and considering the lack of 3DS content, you might want to rent before you buy.

The story is interesting enough that I do believe its telling could have been handled a bit better. I think that there should have been concession to story with end level saves and the ability to continue the story from the level you were on when you finished. This could have been turned on or off depending on how hard the player wanted to push themselves. Overall I’d still encourage people to get West of Dead. It would be one of the most enjoyable roguelike games I have played in a long time, and if those little niggly issues are ironed out then I think a lot of people are going to enjoy the challenge and story of this really cool game.

The return of Hot Wheels has brought with it mixed results. The racing action is undeniably exciting and pulse-quickening, which correlates wonderfully with the nostalgia of using the real-life playsets, and the are plenty of models to collect that you’ll feel spoilt for choice. However, Turbocharged is weighed down by overfamiliarity, unambitious race modes, on-track frustrations, and a sense not enough has been done to evolve this sequel. On a base-level, Turbocharged is a pleasure to play, but Milestone should try to stop toying around with this franchise, it’s got the va-va-voom to be something special, but unfortunately Turbocharged isn’t quite it.

Overall it’s a lot of fun to play… it’s clearly not meant to be taken seriously so if you really want your show down at the O.K. Corral you may be waiting a bit longer yet. But if you like the idea of a stylized shootout with a bit of humour and a large dose of fantasy then you could certainly do worse than this. It’s a pretty decent price as it is but I’m sure there will be a decent discount in a Steam sale at some point… but if you’ve got a few spare dollars hanging around and you want a bit of fun… give it a go.

If you’re a fan of games like Guacamelee or the two titles the genre derives its name from, then Song of the Deep really deserves your time.
