It isn’t normally my style of game but even I was hard pressed to put the controller down at times, some of those nights being work nights. If dungeon crawlers are your thing, buy this game, if steampunk is your thing, buy this game, if both are your thing, buy this game. At $30 rounded up it’s a pretty decent price, for a pretty decent game. Or, play it smart and wait for a Steam or PSN sale and it become absolutely worth it.

It is utterly solid, compelling to play, and at a price point you cannot argue with. It is also pretty cheap to buy comparative to other titles, and whilst not a AAA title, looks and plays like one. It is a short game that you can get through in a few hours if you do not explore, but even that will still give you a good experience, but one I doubt you will return to unless you loved the story like I did. Give it a shot.

Weedcraft Inc. is a good looking, multi-layered and detailed management simulation game. At the end of the day, I will gladly call ‘Generation Zero’ a good game. It brings new elements and ideas together in a unique setting that hasn’t been seen before. However, the game’s point of difference is also its biggest downfall due to a lack of consistency across all elements of gameplay. Even though Avalanche Studios are constantly working on improving and updating the game, I wouldn’t call it a finished title just yet. Truthfully, I don’t feel that this game is overly suited for the Xbox and would be more enjoyable with a team of 4 people playing on PC. With time, ‘Generation Zero’ could become something incredible, but not just yet.

The appeal of this game is hard to narrow down; for the young or non-gamer, it is a very straightforward and extremely easy to play game, in fact you have one button to press and one joystick to move the cursor around for selection. The game can perhaps offer some challenges as it progresses. For experienced detective style gamers, intellectuals and those who want fast paced action, this is not the game for you. With that being said, this game is very different to many games out there and that can be a very welcomed change indeed.

Overall it’s quite a bit of fun and the lure to unlock the next item or character is there… but it also ends up being very repetitive very quickly. It’s certainly great to leave in your gaming collection for when you want a quick fix of puzzling… but you may find that five minutes or so you figure you can spare, ends up stretching a bit longer as you chase the next goal. It’s worth a play… but I’m not sure it’s quite worth the price tag for what it offers.

Despite some odd character animations and a few absent quality of life features, I quite enjoyed my time with Degrees of Separation. Its unique elemental-duality puzzle mechanics forced me to think outside the box, and I found myself surprisingly compelled by the character’s relationship development. Ultimately this is a game that is good but could have been better. Using the Unreal Engine I do think has helped in a lot of ways. The actual models of the bikes look real and are very detailed, and it is pleasing to see real life stadiums created digitally with care. I would suggest most gamers would do well to use the training Compound in the game as it will help you overcome some of the early control issues or at the least get you used to them. This is most likely one of the better games for bike fans out there right now but it could do with more polish.

Déraciné is definitely not for everyone but it still has that FromSoftware magic about it, albeit slightly less so this time around.

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a seriously good remaster. It’s a relaxing and comforting jaunt back into the world of the classic 3D platformer and it was a joy to re-experience all of these worlds with Sparx by my side. If you played Spyro growing up—or always wondered what the fuss was about—there’s something in this for everyone, and I hope that we see some new young Spyro fans as a result.

Soul Calibur VI is a beautifully produced game that should keep fans coming back for more and newer fans understanding just what the fuss is about. I know I certainly do now. This is one amazing game that should turn the heads of all that play it.

To sum it all up, I recommend Dakar 18 for the hardcore racing fans that are up for a challenge, rather than someone trying to have some casual fun. The visual aspects are great within a 10m radius especially the vehicles but further out into the distance it becomes horrendous. The gameplay is almost impossible to master due to the inconsistent vehicle handling, which causes you to veer off the straights and completely miss corners. With little to no navigation help beyond the beginner level, it really is a difficult game to play. Unfortunately, this all makes Dakar 18 a bit of a let-down.

Call of Cthulhu is a beautifully twisted cosmic horror. Although it has it’s issues here and there, and doesn’t look as good as you would expect a PS4 game to look, it has enough moments to really grip you and keep you playing. The story is an example of really great writing, with enjoyable characters and a mind-bending plot. The gameplay is solid, with only certain segments that become frustrating and repetitive.

The only criticism one may lodge at Diablo III: Eternal Collection is nothing is truly new. If you’ve already played through the complete version of the game elsewhere…and are looking for a different twist…the Switch version will offer little. Still, I challenge even these individuals to give this one a go. It’s a wonderful take, on a wonderful game, and one of the best Switch titles to date.

For Honor: Marching Fire is a great DLC expansion that introduces a fun new set of heroes to play as, movesets to master and game modes to enjoy. Even if you don’t pay for the content, you still get access to a variety of graphical improvements, and Breach Mode’s grand scale has made it one of my favourite new competitive multiplayer experiences in recent times.

I would say if you enjoyed the over the top nature of NBA Jam and don’t want to think too hard about your gaming… NBA Playgrounds 2 is a great buy. Whether having friends round or just wanting a casual game to grab and play, there’s a lot of fun to be had here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 lives up to everything and more with what Rockstar Games have promised. More importantly, the gameplay is enjoyable and accessible, the story engaging and the characters are interesting, however what Rockstar Games have achieved is creating a truly interactive, immersive and massive open-world game that feels solid and you can almost imagine that you are part of this world.

As with pretty much all DLC it’s really more of the same but in this case that is a very good thing. There are some interesting additions to an already extremely playable game and for the amount of hours you will spend feverishly playing, it represents extremely good value for money. Grab a partner and enjoy more of one of the Switch’s best multiplayer games.

Any keen puzzle gamer will undoubtedly relish the amount of challenge and sense of achievement to be found in The Room. Although the game does tend to become slightly monotonous at times, the overall game design and the level of challenge is enough to keep the average player intrigued.

Visually, Starlink: Battle for Atlas is beautifully presented on the Nintendo Switch from its high quality cut-scenes to detailed in-game graphics from the diverse planets which are a true joy to visit. The visual detail on these planets is quite impressive and more importantly, they do look different and do look alien in origin. There’s also some great special effects employed from sun-flares to massive dust-storms that just makes the whole experience a very immersive one and the frame rate is very stable on the Switch.

Mega Man 11 is both the most accessible entry in the franchise to date and the most demanding, due to the difficulty options and challenge modes. The Blue Bomber makes good on his return with classic platforming and skirmishes with rogue robots augmented by the addition of the Double Gear System, affecting both how you approach the game and how the boss battles unfold by allowing for different forms throughout.
